Judy - yay for you - finding a meeting next Friday. You are in the zone - way to go on that scale moving on down. What are your plans for Thanksgiving?

4mygirls - welcome. Georgia is right - start small. My first step was no drive thru. If I wanted fast food I could have it but I knew myself well enough that I would not park and go in (and let people see me). Two plus years later and 93 pounds released I have not been to a drive thru.

OK - it's quiet - I've been guilty of lurking this week - is it contagious? What are everyone's plans for the upcoming foodfest? I do plan to enjoy the main meal - hopefully with some smaller portions. Not hosting this year will make leftovers less of an issue.

I have a huge NSV for me - I am doing a local Turkey Trot Thursday morning - will get me moving and give back to the community - the proceeds go to a local nature sanctuary. The event is along the Missouri River - I've always wanted to do it - this is the year!

Come out come out wherever you are - we miss you!

Mornin' Ladies

Went out to a really ritzy place for dinner last night. A group of us took our "canned" boss out. Had salad, scallops, baked potato and grilled asparagus and (a biggie for me) passed on the homemade breads. I did have a lovely Chardonay with the meal. Best part was avoiding the bread, 2nd best part was staying w/i my points for the day. Tonight is another out to dinner night. The place has regular meals or buffet. This could be harder to deal with. I'll do my best.

Thanksgiving should be doable. I'm not cooking. Going to a friend's. She'll watch me like a hawk, at my request, and she's planning a reasonable meal rather than a pig out feast. That will help.

OOPs. Had to take a break while posting to clean up the wall to wall. The dog barfed! Please tell me why she can't barf on a throw rug (read: cheap) rather than the good, beige carpet?

Pulled out some sweaters yesterday. I can get them on and they should fit well very soon. Good thing as snowy, cold days can't be too far away.

4mygirls: Carol's right. Avoiding the drive thru is a big one. I haven't had a french fry in 2 mos. and I was a drive thru at least once a day person. Taking the kids on a walk a good start too. Bundle everyone up and walk to a park or around the block.

Have a fulfilling Saturday.

For Tday, I'm making all the desserts. It's my thing, but fortunately for me, I'm not a dessert lover. You'll find me with my face in the turkey!

And I don't really like stuffing myself at the meal. It's the leftovers that are my weakness, so we're going to my sister's for the day and she gets to keep all the leftovers. I have a turkey at home that I'm going to cook for just me and the boys, 'cause I have to have one carcass for making turkey soup. With the meat I can make a wide variety of lean protein meals, without the accompanying rich sides.

It's Fuyu persimmon season here in California and I've come up with an apple-persimmon frangipane tart glazed with a little honey. I'm going to make some ice cream with almond milk and coconut milk for my boys, and I'm going to use the Stevia in it. I found a natural diet soda sweetened with Stevia at a local healthfood store. We're going to try that out today to see if it's tasty enough to invest in a case or two of it for the holidays.

This morning my younger son Rhyan is going through his first belt testing at taekwondo. He's so excited! We all are! This morning I need to come up with a breakfast for champions for him. Something not too heavy...

I've never posted here before, I hope it's ok to join in. I'm 45. I'm feeling nervous about this Tday. I'm even having a mental block against really planning what we'll have (me and bf). Well, I know basically. Pork loin (he doesn't like turkey), cranberry sauce, scalloped potatoes, veggies. We usually have wine. I'm thinking of skipping the stuffing and dessert. Though part of me feels like this is a holiday, it's ok for the holiday. I think I'm wanting to indulge with the food to make myself feel better, and it's hard, too, to let go of the idea that I should be able to splurge on Thanksgiving.

sorry I have been MIA for a few days. I had the kids and granddaughter and that leaves me with no time to type on here.
I am doing great and WW points seem to be just what I needed. I can see the scales going down daily. Just a few more lbs and I will be back to my lowest weight.
For thanksgiving Im cooking for hubbys family. Im doing turkey stuffing greenbeans and corn and some sweetpotatoes. Im not making any dessert for that day. My adult kids will be with inlaws this year so I am hosting them on sat and we are having fingerfoods.Im using ff versions of everything and making some baked potatoes to fill me up to keep me out of the stuff i dont need.
I am going to try and count the points in everything I eat those days. I do plan on enjoying a slice of cake on thursday and count it as my 35flex points for the week.

Carol- way to go on the trot.I wish we had something close that i could do this year. I may check into it for next year.I bet there is something within an hour of me.
Im so proud of you and you inspire me daily!

geo- how did your son do? how was the natural diet drinks?

judy- yah! on the scales!!! Im so happy for you.I am so glad I have started doing weigh watchers points. My sister told me as I figure my groceries points out to write them on the package right then.I am finding that really helps me when i have to grab something to eat fast.

4mygirls- For me I decided to count calories for start with. I chose my amount and went for it. I gave up diet soft drinks totally( i use to drink 4 or more a day). I started using a salad plate to eat off of and drank my water at meal time out of a wine glass.( I had to feel special). I now drink out of a huge jug and drink a full gallon of water everyday.
I didnt start exercising for a few weeks and slowly my energy increased.
I run an inhome daycare and the kids love it when we exercise. At age 2 they were asking to exercise with a walk dvd.
dragon-Welcome...I plan to have a peice of cake on thanksgiving and just count the points in it. It will be a small peice. I use to have cheat days but for me they lead to cheat weeks and so on. For me now its best to eat only one meal a bit off and then get right back with it.

hi to everyone else

HI everyone -- Well, I did get on the scale this morning and I've been bad and now it's showing on the scale which is creeping UP rather than back down! At least I'm having a good day so far. It's nice outside, so I've been doing some work tidying up and prepping for winter. I wanted to rinse out and dry all the containers I used this year and organize our shed. It also keeps me out of the kitchen!

Hopefully hubby and I will take a nice talk and then grill fish for dinner!

Hope you're all enjoying the weekend!

I really overdid things today. I got a very good night's sleep last night and woke up with an awful lot of energy. I spent it all cleaning house and getting all the laundry done. The house is so clean, I'd consider having the president over for dinner!

I ate a good breakfast around 10, rather late for me, but I got working so early and ignored taking care of myself. I didn't eat again until after 6, and by then, my blood sugar had completely dropped. I had a guest over at the house around 5 p.m. and realized I hadn't eaten when we were just talking about science stuff and I had the overwhelming urge to cry. That was strange. Anyways, got a healthy dinner made but I completely overate trying to get past the hypoglycemia. Hope I never do this again!

Debi, didn't get to drink the sodas yet. Will let you know as soon as I try them. Rhyan did really well at taekwondo. He is now a white-yellow belt and he received a patch for completing his basic bow staff work. I got it all on video, so when I post it to YouTube later this week, I'll post the link. I'm so proud of him!
