Morning! Classes are over and all my grades will be in later this morning... SUMMER IS HERE!! This means my schedule gets much looser. Profs still work in the summer, but the pace is much slower!

Good morning, How is everyone today?

It is a pretty sun shiney day here. I am slow this morning. Taking a break right now. 1 room down and only thirteen more to clean. LOL! You know they aren't all going to get done today, not by me. I had DH cleaning all of the mirrors and glass that I can't reach. At 5'2" there is not a lot I can reach! He doesn't want me to climb and I can't anyway, so he has to do everything over my head. Now if I could just find an excuse to not bend I might have it made.

I have been washing, cooking and putting up squash this morning. That is why I am behind in my cleaning for Mon. That and I ironed some first. Ok, I have done enough for today. I won't feel to bad if I don't do anything else. It just throws my week off.

Heather, enjoy your summer! How does it feel to be "free"?

to everybody else...howdy! Hope you are all doing well. Ta for now. Ruth

Morning ladies,

My second MRI was done this morning. Thank goodness I didn't get sucked all the way into the tube; not sure I could handle that. I am expecting a call from the doctor's office tomorrow to tell me that all is okay and that it is just a bone cyst.

I was up early this morning and did some exercise. I had a horrible nights sleep for some reason so I wasn't very rambunctious. Some is better than nothing.

I've got my journal to log food today and am going to focus on making today a good OP day. Better get busy. to all!

Terri--Glad the MRI wasn't too traumatic. Hope the news is as you're expecting.

Oh, Heather, I'm glad it's summer for you, but oh how I wish my pace were slower! Right before I left town I found out my teaching schedule for fall had been changed, and I'm going to be part of a semi-team-teaching situation with 2 rather difficult guys (one is my friend, but I wouldn't have chosen him to team teach with... the other I often can't make sense out of what he says). And one of them is travelling in July, so they want to do all the planning in June. And I'm working on an editorial project with a friend at a distance (who's untenured and energetic) and she really, really wants to have most of this done by July. And I've been waiting a month for editorial comments on another book-length project... and they're supposed to start coming now, finally. And ... I have to pack and move in 2 weeks.... oh, some day I'll have a laid back summer, but not in 2009!

All this might lead you to suppose that I'm not exercising... and you'd be right. I haven't really been OP since I got back home. This has to end.

At least I'm working today.... last week I got so blue I couldn't make myself work, and that always leads to more blues.

Quiet around here these days. Where's everybody?

Busy weekend here - dads 85th birthday, new chairs for the living room and shopping for gray flagstone (learned it's quartz). Birthday and chairs are done - have a good handle on the rock project but no idea of the process - I've already dug all the other stone up so gotta do something.

Scale was up a pound this week. Gotta put it in gear to hit my September 26 goal. There are so many wonderful seasonal choices that I am utilizing now and also so many additional social challenges that I need to make better choices around. That is my plan this week.

I had a text from dgramie they hoped to get home from the hospital today. Hopefully we will hear from her soon. I know she is appreciative of all the thoughts coming their way.

Ruth -- I had a busy day today, but not at work! I really got to relax yesterday, and want to do a little more of that. Feels good. I will go into the office tomorrow and try to start straightening and organizing...

Angela -- Wow, that's a lot. I hope you catch a breather in a few weeks!

Hey girls...just got back home after spending the day at my parents' house. We helped clean house, and the boys had long faces for about half an hour until I started to make it fun for them by chasing them with the vacuum cleaner. We moved furniture and chased dust bunnies, cleaned bathrooms (and I truly hate that job!), and the refrigerator and oven.

Next we headed outside where my mom had a huge pile of her home-grown Greek oregano that had been drying under the patio. It was ready to bag, so the boys and I spent the better part of an hour rubbing dry plants between our hands to get all the leaves off the woody stems. Then we scooped it up and bagged it into smaller Ziploc bags. Now we smell like oregano and I've been hungry for my mother's meatballs and a cucumber and tomato salad with olive oil and oregano all afternoon!

Had a big lunch with grilled chicken. I had marinated it in a Ziploc bag with a little chicken taco seasoning and some mango-orange juice. It cooked up nicely and made some rockin' fajitas! I did long for a margarita, but we had watermelon instead. It was a really good watermelon, so that's what I'm having for dinner too!

HI.....we are home for now!
Thanks so much for the prayers and good thoughts!
this has been a terrifying ordeal. He is on alot of blood thinners and will be on them for life. The blood clots may or may not be absorded by the body. He will have the heart cath in about 6 weeks once they get him stablized on the blood thinners and feel its safe to pull him off for a few days.We go today to learn all about the blood thinner and what he can and cant eat. We go tommorow for the scan of the atteries in the neck and some other test. I have a feeling this ordeal was just the beggining of a very long road.
I Knew he wasnt controling his glucose like he should but it wasnt extremely high either. His dr is a stickler and if he isnt careful he will be on insulin.

I came home to a out of control garden. We picked 3 cucumbers and 14 huge zucs and 17 squash and nothing was even close to being big enough to pick last thursday evening.
My scales are the same yet again. I was afraid i had gained during the ordeal because the first few days i didnt eat enough.
hugs to all and please continue to keep us in your thoughts and prayers

Hi gals,

Yes, our area had some excitement last night. We were on the north side of the storm so we didn't suffer any tornado or wind damage. We did get a call from the First Alert storm warning system or else we wouldn't have know what was going on. It was pretty intense and I'm pretty weirded out today. We lost satellite so we had no idea where or what was going to hit. And it took a while to figure out how to get to the weather station on the radio. DH didn't even want to get out of bed but realized at my running through the house yelling at him that it was bad that maybe he needed to get up. I almost lost my mind when we lost power because I remember reading about the Greensville tornado and how people said how intense it was and then their power went out right before being hit. Our small town about six miles away got hit with 99 mph winds. They have a lot of tree damage and power lines down. We're still without power but we have a generator and DH's cousin is coming out to help DH get all hooked up. At least our hot water heater is gas so I could have a hot shower this morning and come to work. I just couldn't blow dry my hair. I haven't even been able to see news to see what happened around us or to the east as it moved through.

What a night! But the sun is shining today and I'm thankful to be at work. OMG, did I just say that?

Terri, I am so glad you are all right. That is scarey! I know how you felt. We had a tornado pass about a half a block from our house about a year ago and we didn't even know it until the next day! It didn't do a lot of damage in our area, but all around. I guess it was skipping and jumping around. We knew it was bad out, just not how bad. I was like you...I was freaking out even without knowing it was a tornado. Yep, my DH would have probably stayed in bed too. Glad it missed you. XO Ruth

Default June 14th results

HI ladies,
I'm so sorry that I didn't get the weigh-in results done until today. I've been suffering with allergies so bad, I've just been sleeping so I don't have to deal with it.
Anyhow, the results are in!!

Hi ladies,

All is well within my world this morning. The power came back on last evening and thankfully the A/C. I was not looking forward to the possibility of a few days without the A/C as the humidity has gotten kind of nasty. At least we had the generator going and could plug in fans. But still, I get a little cranky when its 85+ in the house.

My eating fell completely apart yesterday. I was so tired and it seemed like I was reaching for quantity to help offset the fatigue. Not that it helped a lot. Nor did it taste good. I've started the day with a healthy breakfast and have a small salad and leftover london broil for my lunch. No more crappy food from the cafeteria. No more carrot cake either. Ick too sweet.

Tonight's plan of attack for physical work is to work on the landscaping around the pool. I need to move some sand and lay down some flat pavers to put under the outside steps for stability. Then I need to put some weight under the inside steps to hold them more steady. That has always been a challenge because they recommend 40 pounds of sand in a bag which really didn't do the trick. Last year I used cement blocks but that is kind of risky because of damage they could do to the liner. I have a mat under the steps but still I don't like the risk. It just isn't easy trying to get enough weight in the steps from the back to hold them down when you have to put the back up against the pool wall. And not drown in the process. My brilliant idea is boat anchors. Maybe I can throw the boat anchors around for a while for exercise before I get into the pool. Help would be nice. Hmm, maybe I can get the outside done so DH can feel confidant about getting in and he can then be the extra hands. Sounds like a plan.

Better get busy. to all!

Terri - sounds like great exercise - I'd love to help! Wow the pictures in the paper of the damage - amazing no one was hurt.

I'm in the zone - today is my last day of work this week - hope it doesn't fall apart without structure. Tomorrow is pretty well planned - need to work on the rest of the weekend after that.
