  • We are a group of individuals who weigh or have weighed 300+, or near there. This group was formed to provide a place for others like us to find support, inspiration, and hope. We are aware of the distinct problems that come with weighing over 300 lbs.

We want to invite everyone (roosters as well as chicks!) to join us in our journey. We share laughter and tears, heartaches and fears ... joys and celebrations. We also share what works for us and what doesn't.

We know the thread can move very quickly, and that people often make "personal" remarks and keep a number of conversations going. Please feel free to contribute even if you can't make personal comments all the time.

Finally, we also have several extra threads going on simutaneously such as Monthly Challenges, Weekly Weigh-ins, Recipes, Bios, Photos, Exercise, Info for Getting Started and more. Many of these threads are stickied at the top of the page. Please feel free to check them all out.

We have found this thread to be more than just a support group... we have found it to become a home. We invite you to join us.

I know you'll all agree that we are really thankful for the free services here at 3FC. The sisters offer all of this support and information with no charges to us. There are a couple of ways though that we can help out.

If you are thinking about buying anything at Amazon, why not help out 3FC at the same time? You can do this by clicking on the button for the Amazon "store" in the upper right hand corner of the screen on the PURPLE tool bar. A portion of your purchase price will be given to 3FC by Amazon. It doesn't increase your price at all, but it does help out 3FC. You can use any of the Amazon.com links that you see on the site in order to help contribute to the site.

Also, BTW, in case you didn't know it, you can view the message boards "ad free" for a minimal charge. I think it's $15 for 6 months. A very small investment to be rid of the annoying ads and make your pages load quicker.

There have been some concerns expressed by the powers that be about copyright infringement. So please, if you are directly quoting someone else or printing an article in whole or in part, please give credit where credit is due!!!
  • Good morning all - I hope you have a wonderful autumn Monday.

Move your bodies, drink your water and SMILE.

    Hugs,
    Carol
  • Morning everyone I had an active weekend, was away visiting family since last Thursday, got home last night hehe.

I hope you all had a fab weekend. Mine was really good and a lot of fun. I took the weekend as a hiatus from my "life" and just focused on having a good time and eating right, which I did. I managed to loose more weight, I'm down 2 or 3 pounds since I weighed myself Thursday.

This weekend made me realize how much fun I have eating healthy. I really love and feel good when I eat things I like. I had salads for breakfast, which got some looks from family members, but you know as they sat there eating donuts and sugar laced cereals, they actually wanted some of mine lol. A simple spinach salad with a bit of oil and vinegar is really fab for me in the mornings.

Anyhow, it was a good weekend, but I'm glad to be home. I'm going to a farmer's market later on today to restock so I have things to eat lol.

    *HUGS TO YOU ALL*
  • Hi all. I know I've been scarce around here lately. Work has been really busy, and I've been buried under mountains of grading. My exercise has dipped some, and my eating isn't always the best. I'm mostly maintaining my weight, but can't seem to gain traction on re-losing those last 10 pounds (or more) that I've gained this year. Never doubt this is a lifelong battle!

I am encouraged, however, that my good habits have not completely collapsed!
  • Morning everyone! I have an exciting thing to share today!

For the first weekend in a long time, I did NOT binge!!!!!!!!!!! Even though I was surrounded by all kinds of goodies at a fundraiser I worked at this weekend, I was a good girl! I admit, I had a little bite of a cookie, but I did NOT eat the whole cookie. The scale was even down a little bit more this morning!

JAcquie - I am glad to know you had a good weekend too! It is such a good thing when you realize how much better our bodies feel when we are eating healthy. Junk food really just doesn't make us feel good.

Heather - the beautiful thing about making a life change is that we can slip a little and rest assured we have the tools to get back on track. I am sure that you will get those last pesky 10!
  • morning all..

Heather: nice to see ya post! I know life gets busy

    Firedust: WTG on not binging!!

Jacquie: I wish we had a farmers market near us. Back in the olden days before progress took over and they built sooo many houses..we had them.

The weekend blew by so fast! Funny some weekends are slow other fast weird huh? Well I got together with my sewing friend on sunday and sewed up a few fall pumpkins..they are just adorable!! I will post pics of them! After misplacing the pattern pieces...trying to figure out how to rethread and reload her bobbin on her new sewing machine...and entertaining her puppy..I managed to get 3 done! lol..but they are well worth it and they are fall so they can stay out til thanksgiving.

Well back to work for me. Today's goal is to ease up on the soda.

    Toodles ladies...
  • Annie, I will be in Hope, Idaho for a quilting retreat from Oct 24 to the 28th or 29th. Maybe we could meet then? Message me if you like.
  • Jacquie: Congrats on being down more. Glad you had a nice weekend.

Heather: nice to see you. Glad you are hanging in there.

Firedust: Woo hoo to no binge eating this weekend!

Toni: I think that sounds great. I have a busy day on Saturday but maybe Sunday or Monday. Let me know your schedule. You can pm. me.

    Blessings all,
    Annie
  • I'm just doing a quick pop-in. I have spent the weekend sewing a new suit for the funeral. I remember when I bought the fabric a couple of months ago that I thought it would make a good funeral suit. Didn't know so soon though. We have choir practice tomorrow, the prayer vigil on Wednesday night, and then the funeral mass on Thursday. The other sisters in her order are flying in from all across the country. We still don't know what she died of. Our old pastor is coming back to do the service. I'm trying to remind myself to eat, and I have a paper due this week that I have to make time for.
  • Azcyn: I would love to see the pumpkins! I have zero skill when it comes to any kind of crafty thing!

Catherine: What a week it sounds like you are getting ready for. Remember to take the time you need for yourself!
  • Mornin' Ladies,
Sorry I've been MIA but I have been reading, just taking a break.
I keep losing the same 4 lbs over and over again and it's getting a bit old. Ive got the directions for doing the couch to 5k sitting on my treadmill, just trying to get up the nerve to start it. I hate being a failure so I think that is why I'm afraid to start new things even I want them so badly.
All is well though, water and even doing exercise almost every day. Food, is a give or take.

Carol, you have a great fall day too! How's the weather there? We're rainy and cold.

Heather, good to see you post. Yes, just another reminder even though we are losing weight, the fight is never really over.

Firedust, glad to hear you made it thru a weekend without the binge. What's your secret?

Jacquie, I figure what ever works for you, keep doing it whether you get weird looks from people or not. Good job!!

Catherine, sorry to hear about your loss. Take it easy and don't forget to eat! Did you ever think you would hear someone say that to you?

Cyn, we have a very small farmers market it town but I don't think it's going to last too much longer. It's shrinking! I think there were only like 7 people selling a couple weeks ago. It's too bad you don't have one close to you though.
I wanna see the pumpkins too!!

    toodles
    Debbie
  • Debbie - I did Week 1 Day 1 of couch to 5k tonight. I think I'll probably do week 1 for at least 2 to 3 weeks. Remember that you can stretch out the weeks as long as you need to, and you can even modify the weeks as you need to. Just trying it is a success! *hugs*
  • Hello my chickies!!!

I'm doing well this week. 24 days of totally on plan! Wahoo! Getting in my water and walks and just under 1800 cals a day. 25 lbs lost now! So I'm pretty stoked

  • TOM arrived yesteday, I'm pretty crampy and yucky feeling today. I always get depressed when I don't feel good and had one of those moments this morning where I thought "who am I kidding, I can't lose 180 pounds!" I hate it when those negative thoughts creep in. I am sure it will go away once the cramps go away.

Debbie: My grand trick for not binging this past weekend was just to stay as busy as possible! I think I'm going to try that more often!
