300+ Weekly Thread #1179

:welcome:

We are a group of individuals who weigh or have weighed 300+, or near there. This group was formed to provide a place for others like us to find support, inspiration, and hope. We are aware of the distinct problems that come with weighing over 300 lbs.

We want to invite everyone (roosters as well as chicks!) to join us in our journey. We share laughter and tears, heartaches and fears ... joys and celebrations. We also share what works for us and what doesn't.

We know the thread can move very quickly, and that people often make "personal" remarks and keep a number of conversations going. Please feel free to contribute even if you can't make personal comments all the time.

Finally, we also have several extra threads going on simutaneously such as Monthly Challenges, Weekly Weigh-ins, Recipes, Bios, Photos, Exercise, Info for Getting Started and more. Many of these threads are stickied at the top of the page. Please feel free to check them all out.

We have found this thread to be more than just a support group... we have found it to become a home. We invite you to join us.

I know you'll all agree that we are really thankful for the free services here at 3FC. The sisters offer all of this support and information with no charges to us. There are a couple of ways though that we can help out.

If you are thinking about buying anything at Amazon, why not help out 3FC at the same time? You can do this by clicking on the button for the Amazon "store" in the upper right hand corner of the screen on the PURPLE tool bar. A portion of your purchase price will be given to 3FC by Amazon. It doesn't increase your price at all, but it does help out 3FC. You can use any of the Amazon.com links that you see on the site in order to help contribute to the site.

Also, BTW, in case you didn't know it, you can view the message boards "ad free" for a minimal charge. I think it's $15 for 6 months. A very small investment to be rid of the annoying ads and make your pages load quicker.

There have been some concerns expressed by the powers that be about copyright infringement. So please, if you are directly quoting someone else or printing an article in whole or in part, please give credit where credit is due!!!

Helloooo :) I'm new and this is my first time posting in the weekly thread lol. I don't think my weight has changed, but I did eat a bit too much over the weekend. Too much dark chocolate for me, I've been craving it for a few days lol.

Today I'm getting over a cold and am making myself go for a walk, then tomorrow I want to start my exercise routine. I want to exercise almost every day this week, with one day for rest. Also cleaning, I need to do that lol. My apartment is a mess. ACK!

Bah! I need to buy a new scale. Mine is a bit funky and at times I think it is teasing me with lower weight numbers. *kicks it*

ToniLight 10-06-2008 09:32 AM

I hope I am not catching what my husband had last week, I am feeling out of sorts and achy. I did real well on my eating this weekend but for some reason the water is harder to get down. I think it might be the cooler weather, I don't feel like I'm thirsty at all. I know you should not wait until you are thirsty but knowing that is not really helping me with the glugging. Do you all just force yourselves to drink?

I have this issue with not eating enough and not drinking enough. Ha imagine someone like me on a juice feast struggling to get 2 quarts of juice in a day lol. To me that is A LOT of liquid, but some people just seem to down those liquids with no problem. I struggle with drinking enough and found that when I drink out of your average glass I drink less than when I drink out of a 32oz bottle. I'm not sure why that is...

I also have berry cold brew tea bags, that makes it interesting and I do drink more when my water is pink and tea/berry. :D

azcyn 10-06-2008 10:09 AM

morning ladies...

brandnewme: sooo sorry about the movie seats! I totally understand! I only go to on theatre by me cause they have stadium seating and the arm rests lift up! Well my weekend was jam packed! Saturday took my youngest son to chop his hair off. hehe He like my oldest son let his hair grow out and is not tired of dealing with it. Then took my oldest son to the theatre for his orientation. His poor gf hand to hang out with me an my youngest as we went shopping til he was done. Sunday was my nephews birthday..he is 8 already!!! It was a pool party and then bowling in the evening. I had fun bowling. I only did one game. but it was a blast..my average you ask...88 LOL Im just happy that is one thing I can still do.

Good Morning everyone,

I only have a minute before I need to brush my teeth and head out to my new job.

Debbie: Unfortunately I couldn't do Netflix and this job due to hours crossing. I really liked the Netflix one but it was only 12-15 hours per week. I hope that your crafts can help you with night time eating.

Brandnewme: Hugs to you hun. I'm sorry that things are so bad right now. I think there won't be many of us here on this board that don't know exactly how you feel about going to the movies. I soooo remember many things like that happening to me. I hope that you can use it to push yourself to exercise and eating well. Hugs sweetie.

Hillary: Welcome to our little neck of the woods. Glad that you are here with us.

Penny: Sorry that your wi wasn't a great one. AT least you know it is TOM.

Debi: Sorry about your WI too. I am in the same boat as you. Still up and knowing it is TOM. It should help to know that but there is such a fear in me that it is something else. lol. I know it can't be but there is just that fear that I will gain, gain and gain again. I hope you are so happy when you go through all your clothes! I also hope that you can have some time to enjoy your week off work not just cleaning.

Jacquie: Welcome. Glad to have you here and I'm looking forward to getting to know you better.

Toni: I hope you don't get sick. Hugs. I kind of have to force myself to drink. I start very early, as early as I can and just sip, sip, sip all day long.

Cyn: Sounds like your weekend was a busy one.

Well, I think I am caught up for now. I am all ready except brushing my teeth and putting on my blouse. I am wearing a pink and black skirt with a black silk shirt. I am so happy that I didn't put my shirt on yet because I promptly spilled iced tea on my jammie top. lol. I have a great lunch packed full of protein and not too many calories. I have had my morning protein shake and my vitamins. I wasn't able to exercise this morning but I am hoping to take my tennis shoes and maybe do a little walking at lunch time. Where I will be working there is a gym there with tons of weight lifting equiptment and a pool. Hmmmm. My little brain is thinking about maybe being able to lift some weights 3 times a week and also maybe I can take their water aerobics classes too. I will ask today.

Well, I hope you all have a wonderful day. My day will be full with working then a few errands to do and exercise so I don 't know when I can get back on. Stay strong, drink your water, eat well and move your bodies.

Blessings,
Annie

gggirls 10-06-2008 02:51 PM

Annie - wow - this could be a dream job for you - keeping my fingers crossed. You may be able to handle multiple positions there, including water fitness instructor. Let us know - big ole hugs to you today!

Toni - I do have to chug my water at times but I also have a pretty rigid schedule of how much I have to have in by a certain point in the day. 16 ounces before I leave for work - 24 ounces before I leave for lunch - 24 more at lunch - 24 before I head home for the evening and then 24 more before I go to bed. I also drink 16 ounces during that night during my many trips to the bathroom. Frequently I drink more than that but that is my minimum. I do it without ice and from a big cup - comes out faster than in a bottle for me. Good luck with it - if you are coming down with a bug you need you water even more.

More later - I'm joining the scale is up - tomorrow is WI so hoping it will come down a bit by then - I can't blame TOM though.

Hugs to all,
Carol

dogpal 10-06-2008 06:12 PM

Hi everyone,

I am soooo disgusted and upset. Hope I don't make anyone get grumpy. I went into my new job only to have them say that my hours won't be from 8:30 - 5:30 with an hour lunch but they will be 8:30 - 7 p.m. with 2 1/2 hour lunch most days. They don't pay overtime so you have to take the extra time worked as lunch. I can't work that many hours. I wish they would have told me prior to me taking the job. I let them know that those hours won't work for me. They said they understand but need someone to work them so they will be continuing to look. I graciously left.

On a good note I was so fired up that on my way home I stopped by a gym and asked them if they were doing any hiring for part time receptionist or any thing else clerical. They said they may be and I left them my application. I called Netflix to see if I could get my position back there and they were thrilled. I am making the 650 per hour quota plus some and they were so bummed that I left. SO,I'm back at Netflix tomorrow a.m. I'm happy about it cause I like that job. They told me maybe they can get me more hours. I am definately going to just apply for other part time positions to fill in the financial gap until I finish school. I can't do the full time thing right now.

Thanks for letting me vent.

I will chat with you all later.
Blessings all,
Annie

bigmomma 10-06-2008 08:12 PM

Sorry to hear your job didn't work out. But lucky you on getting your job back at Netflix, at least you'll still have an income:)
What is your position at Netflix?

Happy Monday to all.

Realist 10-06-2008 08:29 PM

Sorry about the job Annie, that stinks. 2.5 hour lunch? Whatever.

I went to get my hair done for vacation....but I was two days early. Oops. I really want short hair, but I have a fat face that I don't think is conducive to it. But I want it. Argh.

Not much more to add tonight.

Later...

dgramie 10-06-2008 09:04 PM

Well cleaning out my winter clothing was a GREAT feeling. I bagged up 4 large trash bags full of clothing. It was great to try on just a few things to remind myself how far I have come!! I sure hope someone can use them. The thrift store wont take them till wed. I am doing our youngest room also and she will have tons as well. It was also neat hanging up all the thrift store items i have been buying for months. ITs a weird feeling not being fimilar with my winter clothing. I do have some really cute outfits!! I also have a stack of things i have bought that are still to tight. I should be in them by mid season.
Annie_ cleaning makes me feel good and in control. I love nothing more than a clean decluttered house. I am hoping to spend the last half of the week getting to see my granddaughter..we are hoping she will come this week(be delivered). Its getting hard waiting.
well ladies i am going to go lay down in my nice clean bedroom and watch tv for a bit. hugs to all

dgramie 10-06-2008 09:07 PM

toni_ I find the more I drink water the more water I want. I go thru spells where i have to make myself drink it..but for the most part I love it!!

ToniLight 10-06-2008 09:55 PM

Thanks everyone for the water advice, I am going to ask my husband to remind me about drinking since he drinks water all day long. That might help.

cfmama 10-06-2008 11:27 PM

That sucks about the job! That would make for VERY long days.

Day 10 of completely on plan for me :) Yay! I went out tonight and bought a box of those 100 calorie smart pop. I'm eating one now and it's okay. I'm NOT scarfing it. It's... okay. I dunno. I'm not feeling the junk love right now. That's a good thing right?

gggirls 10-07-2008 07:10 AM

Good morning Peeps - WI was up one pound this morning.

Annie - sorry it didn't work out for you - doesn't sound like somewhere you need to be anyway if it starts out with this. When does school start?

Move your bodies, drink your water and SMILE.

Hugs to all,
Carol

dgramie 10-07-2008 10:45 AM

Well after not having rain in a really long time here we are getting rain. I have sinus pressure so bad i could scream!! Already started my sinus spray and some meds. WHy is it everytime I get time off from work I end up sick??? Still going to clean my living and dinning room today. Im putting mini blinds in the tub to soak...how do they get so dirty??
Hugs to all

CatherineM 10-07-2008 12:56 PM

He had to get up at 4am to catch a plane to Ottawa, and I went back to sleep, and then overslept and missed my pool time. I'm going to try to go on Friday instead. That's a bummer. Now I have no excuse to not do homework. It's getting cold here, so we may even have snow on Thursday. Last Thursday we set a new high for that day.

My human trafficking committee meeting is tomorrow, and I'm excited about getting to go. I missed the last one because of a book signing. The new thing with the book is that it is going to a second printing, as soon as I approve any changes, and it seems to be selling in large lots to book clubs. Little old ladies sitting around discussing it I guess. Sold almost 500 this month from what I'm told. It's gone into twilight zone now. It's goofy. I wonder how long it is going to take me to process it all.

Little old ladies?! LOL I wouldn't bet on it. I live in San Francisco and there are book clubs here with ALL SORTS of people, from early twenties on. You may want to review those demographics to see who your audience really is. :-)

What is your book about?

dogpal 10-07-2008 03:53 PM

Bigmomma: I unwrap the Dvds when they come in from the customer and inspect them for damages and clean them if they need it. It is a fun job.

Angie: I hope you have a great time on your vacation.

Debi: Good for you doing all the clothes. I hope your Grand daughter comes so you can visit her.

CF: It is a good thing not to want the junk.

Carol: sorry you are up. Maybe water issues. My testing is on November 14th but I have already started my studying. I am reading a bit each day and studying each day too.

Catherine: How exciting about your book. I hope you can get to the pool on Friday.

It felt great to be back at Netflix. The boss told me she is really happy with my work and as soon as there are anymore hours to give she will give them to me first. She said I am doing really well and making the 650+ quota per hour each day. I'm glad because I play lots of games with myself to compete eith others. lol.

TOM is getting so close and I have been wanting to eat everything in sight which is making me ill. UGH! I hate cravings. I am hoping to do some fasting the rest of today and tomorrow to clean out my system.

I just read in the paper that we are supposed to have ...SNOW on Thursday here. BOO HOO. They are also saying snow on halloween!! I had a feeling it would be an early winter.

Well that is about it for now.
Blessings,
Annie

bigmomma 10-07-2008 04:03 PM

WI today, up a pound, very sad:(
Can't figure out what the problem is???

Debbie54 10-07-2008 05:49 PM

Annie, that's too bad about the job. I'm surprised they didn't mention that when they interviewed you. Maybe that's why they didn't, those hours suck!! Glad you got back in with Netflix though.
We haven't heard anything about snow yet here, but it sure is going to get cold!!! I'm glad Jim got under the house and got the heater tubes hooked up properly. We froze in the bathroom last year!!!

Debi, Have fun cleaning the house! That's alot of clothes you've bagged up. Someone's going to be very lucky!

cfmama, great on the 10 days of OP!!!

Carol, sorry about the 1lb up. I wonder if it's from all the exercise you've been doing. Didn't that happen to you last time you started doing alot of exercise?

Catherine, that is so amazing about your book!! Who woulda thunk it? I'm very proud of you, and you should be too. My son is in the process of finding a publisher right now. He's got one in California that is interested in it. He's been working on it for over 5 years and finally got it done. I'm so excited for him. It's really a great story he's written and he'll have sequels to go with it.

bigmomma, it just comes with the territory. You'll see a lose next week, just hang in there.

We had to go buy a new monitor today for the computer. The electricity went out last night due to the winds and once it went off, the monitor didn't want to come back on. So we got a nice 19" flatscreen. It looks so small compared to our big old monitor we had, but the screen is 2" bigger than the old one so that part looks huge!!
I'm really trying to stick to being OP. I've gained 3 lbs and don't want to go up anymore. I think it was a shock to me how easily it is for me to gain weight so quickly. No more messing around for me. I'm getting up each morning and doing exercise before I even have breakfast. I know it's the only way I'll do it.
Well, gotta go make dinner before Jim has to go to work.
toodles
Debbie

ToniLight 10-07-2008 07:56 PM

Catherine, I am also interested in finding out about your book.

dgramie 10-07-2008 08:42 PM

I didnt get my cleaning done today...sinus pressure just kept getting worse. I spent the day on the couch..between that and tom am wiped out!!I think its allergy related due to the fact I get sick every year when they cut corn here. I got my vaporiser out today and i have never gotten it out this early but i know it really does help me!!
Eating has been bad for 2 days now..cant continue this..
annie _ im with you on time to rid my body of this yucky food. I just totaled my calories and i still within my range for today but I ate way to many carbs.
debbie_ how are you? how are the beads going?
catherine_ sorry you overslept but you must have needed the extra sleep.
carol_ hi and hugs
bigmomma_ hang in there...it will average out as long as you stay op.
cfmama- way to go on being on plan for so many days!!
toni- how are you doing with the water?? Im low today on water...water and sinus issues dont mix well for me.
mimi- hi how are you??
well thats it for me tonight..off to bed i go with the vicks..

Debbie54 10-07-2008 10:51 PM

Debi, that's terrible that you're suffering from you allergies now. I sure hope they clear up for you really soon. Glad to hear that your within your calories for the day though. Just hang in there. The housework will be there tomorrow or the next day just waiting for you! The beads are going well. I just got done making an elf and another garden fairy that I'll be putting on tomorrow.
Take care!

This is day 2 of being totally OP for me plus exercise. :woohoo:
Debbie

Jacquie668 10-08-2008 08:50 AM

Had a horrible, lack of sleep, day yesterday. My apartment's fire alarm kept beeping; started at 3am and didn't stop until the landlord fixed it around 8am. I didn't get my exercise in as I was too tired, ate the worst foods I could eat lol, but I'm hormonal due to the approaching TOM so there ya go.

I did get on the scale this morning and looks like I've lost more weight and today I'm totally going to do my cardio workout. WOO! :D

This thread reminds me to get more water lol.

dgramie 10-08-2008 08:55 AM

sinus pressure seems better today...thank GOD!!
I am going to have breakfast and then get moving...we should find out today when our granddaughter will be born. I am on pins and needles and will use that as motivation to get my house finished up!!
scales were still up a pound but im sure its all the crud in my head...LOL yesterday it felt like an elephant was sitting on my face!!
lets see how much water we can get in today ladies..I know i slacked yesterday..
hugs

ToniLight 10-08-2008 09:27 AM

dgramie, glad to hear the elephant has relocated!

azcyn 10-08-2008 09:31 AM

Realist 10-08-2008 11:00 AM

I was a little sick yesterday...and it's GOOD. I am so near 50 pounds gone!!!!

CatherineM 10-08-2008 11:15 AM

Mimi-the demographics of the Catholic Women’s League is average age of 60. That’s why I said that. My book is about something I did when I was very young, and very dumb.

Annie-It doesn’t matter really what kind of work you do, so long as it makes you feel productive, like you are contributing to the financial health of the household, and isn’t in a toxic work environment. You’ve certainly had enough of that along the way.

Bigmomma-When I couldn’t figure out why I wasn’t losing, I first double checked my intake to make sure I wasn’t fooling myself on portions, and then I checked to make sure I was getting enough calories, and enough good fat.

Debbie-That’s great about your son’s book. I wish I could have published in the US. It would have gotten greater distribution, but it would have opened me up to lawsuits. Publishing in Canada means if they want to sue me, they have to come here where the laws are better for my side. That’s why we can’t get it on Amazon. To put it on Amazon, it has to be a registered book. We can’t register it on Amazon.ca without it being on Amazon.com, and that opens the door. Most of the sales have been through Coutts library services here in Canada. Most are going to libraries I guess. I’ve got the outline for two books sitting on my computer right now, one a murder mystery, and one an action adventure. I don’t work on them during school time. Writing the first one almost cost me a grade last semester. When I get ideas for plot stuff for either, I write it down, and I’ll do the actual writing in summer and semester breaks.

I guess today I will get to try out my new winter coat since we aren’t going to get into double digits. Right now it is 5 degrees and raining. That’s 41 degrees in American. It is supposed to get up to 8 though. I’m going to go shopping today, and then head out for my human trafficking committee meeting. I will try not to overdo it as I have school tomorrow. I’m trying to adjust my meds some to adjust to my new schedule. I know losing weight would take some of the pain away, it always has, but I just can’t seem to lose any right now. A couple of days on and a couple of days off just isn’t working well. I used to do best when I was at home, and had trouble when I was out, and now it is just the opposite. So, I’m trying to get out everyday, hence the need to adjust my meds so I’m capable of doing that. It’s hard to walk to the bus stop when I can’t bend or stand up straight. At least my Chanel can cover the smell of icyhot.

Debbie54 10-08-2008 12:25 PM

Jacquie, that's terrible that you had to listen to that alarm all night. Hope you get some better sleep tonight.

Debi, glad to hear you've gotten some relief on the sinuses. Hope it continues to get better.

Cyn, this bottle of water is for you....gulp gulp gulp

Realist, I bet you can't wait to get to that 50 lbs gone. :woohoo: What a time to celebrate!!!

Catherine, yes it is too bad you couldn't have sold your book in the states. You would of made so much money for charity, but really, if it's going into it's second printing, you ARE doing great!!! It truly was an interesting story.

The weather people are saying that by Thursday we'll be seeing freezing temps already. I have a feeling it's going to be one of the coldest winters yet. Even the wind and rain started early this year, we really didn't have a summer. But I love this time of year!!
Already got my exercise in this morning so rarin' to get into things so I'd better get going.
toodles
Debbie

cfmama 10-08-2008 01:47 PM

we are supposed to have SNOW by this weekend. blerg.

dogpal 10-08-2008 04:04 PM

Bigmomma: Hugs to you.

Debbie: yep, they should have told me about the hours upfront. Great job doing the exercise early in the morning. That is a great idea. I try to do it that way myself so I know I have done them. Sorry you are up a bit too. I am too still and hoping it is TOM.

Debi: Hugs to you on your headache.

Jacquie: Woo hoo for the scale going down! Hope you get to take a nap today.

Angie: Woo hoo on getting closer to 50 pounds lost. Sorry you are sick though.

Catherine: Thanks. You always say the right thing. I hope it doesn't get too cold while your honey is away and not able to warm your feet at night. It was 26 this morning when I went to work at 4:30!!

Well, I feel like today is a brand new day for me. I have been slacking off on eating enough protein and drinking enough and even eating some crap I shouldn't. I didn't exercise on Monday or Tuesday but today I have already done 80 minutes and still planning on doing some situps/crunches and push ups. I have already drank 64 oz. and it is only 1 p.m. I have also had enough protein and low cal. I made some boneless skinless chicken breasts and measured out 4 oz. That is 110 cal. and 26 g of protein. I'm off to a great start and hoping for many more op on target days to come.

Blessings all,
Annie

Ratkitten 10-08-2008 05:30 PM

Hello my Chickies!

I went to the knee doc and there's good news, no surgery.. yay! He gave me a shot of cortisone because I can't take anything but tylenol for inflammation. It feels weird. No stairs for a couple more weeks, but I can start exercising slowly. w00h00! In about a week, BikerChick can come out to play. He said it seems like there's no meniscus tear, but the only way to tell that is thru an MRI. He wanted to see if the shot dropped the inflammation any and to continue to baby it for 2 weeks. After that, if it still is hurting, we'll start throwing money into MRIs.

The shot was at least 8 mL! As a prior Lab Rat, I know what a 10 mL syringe is. I was surprised all of that went into my knee. I have it up while typing on the laptop.

What's with the cooler weather suddenly?? Annie, you got down to 26F?? GEEEEeeeesh. Brrrrr. I love my gas fireplace. Takes off the morning chill in this old house. It hasn't gotten down to 26 here in the DC burbs yet. We are still in the 40's in the morning.

Hugs to all!

Hiya Peeps

Rat - hope you have quick relief from the shot. My ortho told me a coupla weeks too - 24 hours it was new - for 4 or 5 months. Awaiting the approval on the hyalgan (sp) injections for the old arthritic knee here. It's amazing for me - my ortho told me walk, swim, or bike were the only things he wanted me to do but to push through the pain - it works and I feel so much better when I do.

Annie - glad to hear you are having a better day today. It's such a great feeling knowing you are in control.

Debbie - keep the cold and snow for awhile if you don't mind - last winter you shared it with us waaaaaaay too much. How's your day?

Debi - how's the head? Hope you got some things accomplished today. Any news on the baby watch?

Angie - have a wonderful time on vacation. Enjoy your newfound increased activity/exercise level.

Cyn - Hi - how are you?

Last night was the first formal session with the new trainer - she kicked my rear - loved it. She was extremely motivating to me and is very driven to help me succeed. In addition to cardio we worked with weights and on the ball - also combination. When I first used the ball I asked her if anyone has ever popped one - I was hoping she would say yes cuz I didn't want to be first - it didn't pop - another NSV for me. She is the same instructor every other week for the new water class I'm taking on Saturdays. Apparently core strength is gained from the water work and it showed last night. I'm pumped!

Need to fix a bite to eat - hugs to all.

Move your bodies, drink your water (Penny) and SMILE.

GGG,

Bahahahahaha about the ball.. I had a free trainer lesson once and I asked that EXACT question. She laughed and said never ever. Glad you had a great session.

The knee feels weirdo right now. I guess that happens when a doc puts at least 8mL of liquid in my knee.

I should be heading for bed because I have 2 huge documents to work on tomorrow, but I'm not sleepy! ugh. Then I went and had pineapple-mango-habenaro salsa and a few chips. Heartburn if I go to bed now!! hehe.

Hugs to all!

Rat-My doctor always used to take fluid out of my knee, not put it in there.

Annie-He got frost bite in Antarctica, so if there's any warming up done, it's my feet doing the warming. His are like blocks of ice. He's so tall they hang off the end of the bed, so that doesn't help any.
