DMPLS 07-29-2008 11:52 PM

Glad to hear our CaliforniaChicks are ok! from my former days living in cali that one was a small one by all means! I hadn't heard anything about it today....didn't watch the news or anything found out a few mins ago when I hopped online and checked my emails!

Well the grumpy fairy/dwarf is gone I think.........don't know whats gotten into me.......next week school starts......end of this week I have to go in and also on Sat I have CPR recert.....then next week kids start back on the 5th but the 4th we have to be there. Still need to get DD clothes for school.........maybe we can hit the stores sat afternoon........I also need some new working shoes........Can't wear sandals the whole time! LOL

CatherineM 07-30-2008 12:38 AM

Bernice-Just remember that CPR dolls are very clean, dry, and sanitary, and in real life, sometimes your patient has just had a whole pot of coffee. Haven't been able to drink the stuff since.

princesspuffypants 07-30-2008 03:04 AM

julee - where do you do your studies at?

catherine - i spite shop too, but i usually do it online. especially with makeup since i get a discount at all the major brands. i would probabally buy in the store if people werent such jerks, but i will go, test stuff on my friends, and when we've been there for 30 mins and are ready to go someone FINALLY helps us, and i toss in, oh, thanks anyway, im a makeup artist and im going to go order online to get my discount. i just wanted to test the products before i spent the money. thanks anyway... lol sometimes i'll ask for samples before i toss that in too (sidenote if you like MAC - which really is a horrible brand, but i digress- if you ask they will give you a sample of anything thats dry like eyeshadows or pigments. sometimes they will do the fluidline eyeliner too. just tell them you have an outfit you want to test it with at home. they usually wont put up a fight. plus the samples last longer than most shades are in fashion anyway.

Jess - are you eating enough calories/

to everyone who asked about the earthquake. we're all ok. it was a lot of shaking and pretty scary (i hate earthquakes) but the worst was a few bottles fell on the floor. it was centered about 34 miles from me and about 60 miles or so from Julee. the worst anyone i know got was a little broken glass and some shelves fell over. the worst part was i had JUST gotten out of the shower getting ready for work so i was running around the house naked with my underwear in my hand trying to get my grandma into a doorway. it was pretty hilarious.

angels4u 07-30-2008 06:13 AM

Hi All,

It's a beautiful sunny day here! Haven't been walking for a couple of days because of the humidity..I am up early today .....So I plan to do a small walk ..... Hugs all Angels

dgramie 07-30-2008 07:06 AM

Good Morning everyone,

sorry for those with the earthquake..glad no real damage was done. I still rememer how much the one we had a few months back shook me up.LOL

Went to the funeral home last night...It was so sad. The mom seems to be hanging in there the best anyone in her shoes could. She has been told that they can do something to prevent it from happening with another pregnacy. They said he could fit in one hand, just so tiny but yet body formed perfect.

Had a scare with my sister in law who had the heart attack last year. Her potisuim and magnesium both bottomed out and she ended up having to have another heart cath done. She doesnt have any new damage at least to her heart.

have a great wed everyone...

G'morning all,

Our dept is having an all hands meeting today to tell us of re-alignment. Maybe nothing major will happen. No telling. The admin is providing breakfast and that's never a good sign.

DMPLS, glad the grumpy dwarf is leaving. All my teacher friends are going through it. I think it's realization that school is just around the corner. Sounds like you have lots to do before your fall routine starts!!

Angel, you did wonderful losing while on vacation!! My goal is to maintain. This is supposed to be one of the hottest weeks in DC burbs (complete with humidity). I'm not looking forward to the electric bill afterwards.

Catherine.. ewww about the pot of coffee. Now days, there are devices that go over people's mouths that are provided in places like schools or gov't. Along with those, we even have those portable defib devices on the walls in my bldg. DC might be the exception, however. The Feds don't like people having heart attacks in their bldgs. In their defense, I would like to say that our Health, Life and Wellness group in our agency does a good job getting out info to folks about what to do in case of an emergency.

Luan, glad you were ok during the shaking up yesterday. The visual of you running to the doorway with granny woke me up better than my tea.. hehe.

Debi, I'm glad you were able to help the mama at the funeral home by being there. One of my friends said the worst part of her late term pregnancy failure was that no one would let her talk about the details after it was over. OMGosh about your sis in law!! I'm glad she's ok and no extra damage was found. I hope they find out why her minerals dropped so low. Scary stuffs!!

Realist, hugs to you! I can't rem if I captured your personal in my posts. Stop lurking so much.. hehe. You have lots to share!

Speaking of which, you lurkers (you know who you are) have lots of wisdom. Even if it's a one-liner, drop in to say Hullo :)

Luv to all,
Ratkity

JuleeCeeS 07-30-2008 11:25 AM

Luan....I am the Director of Youth Education & Programs at a synagogue in Valley Village (North Hollywood). Not currently in school. Thanks for the tip on MAc...out of curiosity, why don't you like it? I don't buy it often but they have a few eyeshadow colors that are nice and neutral and either make good bases or that I like for some pop near my lash line. I have no need for neon yellow shadow or liner :) Is the Gazelle still around?

We went out for a lovely dinner last night with friends. They were trying to find parking so the husband decided that parking in the strip mall across the stret would be fine...until their car got towed mid-dinner. By the time he ran across the street it was too late. The restaurant owner felt so badly for us he gave us all sorts of goodies (new restaurant) to take home. DH and I had walked to dinner from work sicne it was only about 1/2 mile away, so we all walked back and I took them to the tow yard which was nearby. The guys who worked there were total jerks and it was a good thing I waited around, because they were going to make my friend wait alone on the street while her hubby went inside to deal with paperwork. Why it took over 20 minutes I will never know...I guess they had to put in a Hot Pocket and turn on SportsCenter. In the end, the towing cost $191.70 and this was for barely an hour. There was a huge after hours fee (after 5pm) even though it was picked up after 6. Oh well...I was amazed at how calm they both were through it all...and he even fessed up during dinner that it was his fault. Impressive. Oh well....another day.

Hi to all...we're going back to WW tonight...again...ugh. Although someone at work told me yesterday I looked like I had been losing again. Methinks she needs glasses.

princesspuffypants 07-30-2008 12:36 PM

rat - lol its funny to me too

Julee - thier products are substandard at best. the face makeup is horrid. most people i know cant wear it without breaking out. the quality of the eyeshadows and other products have gone down over the years since it was bought out by estee lauder a few years ago. as for your studies - i meant like your tv show study and stuff like that. yes the gazelle is here. its not going anywhere. lol

JuliaDH 07-30-2008 12:39 PM

Luan - What are your fave products?

dogpal 07-30-2008 01:30 PM

Nancy: Great job going to the gym even when you didn't want to.

Julee and Luan: Glad you guys are okay and didn't get too shooken up!

Angels: How about crushing some ice with the lemon and maybe some sweet and low and water? Maybe like an icy lemonaid thing.

Carol: Woo hoo on the -2.75 release! Way to go.

Debi: So sad about the funeral for the baby. Hugs.

Well, off to a 2nd interview with a company I saw on Monday. We shall see.

At group last night there was a guy there that I had never seen before. He was about 2 years out of his surgery. He was quite talkative and giving advice etc. After the group I was walking out and he stopped me and started to talk to me about riding my bike etc. I spoke with him for a while and then excused myself to talk to the leader of the group who just so happens to be this guy's aunt. After talking to her for a minute I started to leave only to have this guy yell at me from across the room can he have my phone number so we can go riding sometime. I joked and told him that I couldn't keep up with him as I am very new to bike riding. He said that he would take it easy on me and wait for me and be patient. We laughed and I told him I would see him next week. I felt odd and when I got home I asked my hubby about it, the going riding with a stranger thing. My hubby called me niave (sp) and told me that the guy was hitting on me. I think he is right now, hind site and all. It has been so many years since a man, besides hubby has shown any interest in me. Now I feel weird about seeing him next week. I don't want to blurt to him Oh, I'm married! just in case I am wrong and DH is wrong. What should I do. Seriously? Maybe just see if he brings it up again and tell him that my husband wouldn't like me to ride with another man just the two of us unless there is a group or if my dh is there. What do you guys think?

Okay, Drama, drama, drama. lol.

Blessings all,
Annie

dgramie 07-30-2008 02:21 PM

annie_ sounds to me like he was hitting on you big time!! LOL Even though you arent interested its nice to be noticed. Take it as a compliment and then casually drop into conversation that your happily married. Most guys will back off then..most of them....lol

julee_ hope things go good tonight at WW. Maybe you have lost inches lately. It was nice of a co-worker to comment.

julia- how is your summer going?? Mine is just about over! I think I have friday off and then back to kids fulltime next week.

rat_ thanks so much for your concern over my sil. They are changing up some of her blood pressure meds to see if that might be what is depleting her minerals.

luan_ hope your having a great day.

carol - hugs

anne_ come out come out where ever you are...

Hi all! Just a quick pop in!

I'm REALLY enjoying Croatia! Today we went on a boat ride (the boat owner is friends with our hosts) to see some islands, and swim... it was glorious!

Gotta run -- the sun is setting and friends are waiting!

texarkgal 07-30-2008 02:48 PM

Carol - WTG on the 2.75 release!!

Julee - I can't imagine being calm after having to pay that much for a tow charge, especially after dealing with a bunch of jerks. There must be a Jerks R Us employment agency to supply employees for towing companies and collection agencies lol. Props to the guy though for admitting it was his fault.

Rat - Hope the meeting and possible realignment doesn't adversely affect your job.

Annie - I think the guy was so hitting on you, lovely lady that you are. My suggestion that next week when he mentions the bike riding you slip in something like "I would really enjoy that, my husband's work schedule just doesn't allow us much time to ride together." or something like that. That will casually let him know you are married without being obvious about it.

Everyone try to stay cool and drink your water.

Ratkitten 07-30-2008 03:25 PM

Greetings all,

The meeting this morning was missing a pillow.. ZZZzzzzz. hehe. I work for the gov't, so my job security is never in question (well, as long as I do my job, keep the psychosis' down and show up, etc). Leadership was trying to be helpful, it just came out as um.. a waste of time. Oh well.

Annie, you were SO being hit on.. hehe. Too cute. It's not drama, just smile and do what everyone else has suggested. A subtle, yet obvious remark about being married is enough. Oh, and take it as a HUMONGOUS compliment!

OMGosh ProfHeather! You posted while on vacation!! Too cool that you did for us. I love hearing about vacation adventures. Be safe and have fun!

Hugs to all!
Ratkity

Hello, Ladies!

Well, I'm back again, trying once more to live a healthy lifestyle. It's great to see so many familiar faces and hello to the new-to-me folks!

Lots been going on here over the past several months, which I've used as an excuse to slack in my exercise and eating habits, and have managed to gain back about 30 pounds of the 50 I'd lost last year. So, I'm back on the bandwagon, determined to make the last six months of this year healthier than the first six.

Hugs to you all and I'm so glad to be back among you and the support I missed while I was gone.

I've got to get back to work but I hope you're all having a great day!
