Bernice-I can't tell you how many Navy Moms I dealt with described the same scenario when their kids, especially boys, came home on leave. Mine handed me a sea bag stuffed with dirty uniforms, and disappeared for two days. They get very independent off in the service, and a tad self-centered, and frankly, their brains have been re-arranged by the training. It gets better most of the time, but when there are girlfriends involved, it doesn't happen as quickly as we'd like. I promise, when he has a crisis, needs money, gets in trouble, or just lonely or sick, he'll remember who you are.

lol Catherine! yes I know that is true! he is absolutely clueless that my feelings were hurt.......when he saw me crying just before he left......he just thought it was because he was leaving.......DH is compassionate to my feelings but, doesn't "get it" LOL.........When I went home to visit I would always take my mom out to shop or a bite to eat alone so we could catch up........I guess that is what I anticipated and when absolutely nothing remotely close to that happened I got myself disappointed.....I will be ok LOL just gotta suck it up and drive on....

Today we are having our church small group come over for a BBQ hopefully we can get rid of all this extra food!!! We had tons leftover!!! we even told Pastor not to bring as much meat as he was going to because we had tons leftover!

Hi all,

Hugs to all that need it. Well, just hugs to all! I am having a great time with my SIL and enjoying the fun she and her brother are having. No time for personals today. SIL will be here until Tuesday morning. I have done a 5K every day since Tuesday the 1st and was wondering for those who are savy etc. How do I report it and where do I report it? Please help because I would love to show them that the bigger folks can contribute too.

Hope you are all having a wonderful weekend with friends and family.

Blessings all,
Annie

I am here...just been lurking. My mom has been in toewn and we have had a lovely time so far. We have done a lot of (not terrible) eating but we have also gone to a few malls (indoor and outdoor) and a farmer's market so we have walked every day for at least a little while. Plus she decided she liked my FitFlops so much she bought her own pair and everyone has been asking us about them. I finally got myself the pesent I promised myself from winning the game show. I found a beautiful sterling silver initial pendant necklace at Tiffany & Co. that I wanted that really was not terribly expensive (all things considered) and I finally bought it today. They are lengthening the chain and I will have it in about a week but it was so exciting for me.

I am enjoying vacation but wonder what I will do with my time when my mom leaves and I have to entertain myself all day. Tonight is dinner with the in-laws as well and tomorrow we are escaping the heat and heading to santa Monica for more shopping and lunch and bautiful sea breezes. We justify our shopping by walking It's medicinal that way...like a glass of red wine I was happy though because I went to NY & Co and had some of the discount dollars and was able to get 6 tops and a pair of earrings for $69.00. I can fit into their stretchier tops there but sadly not the fitted ones and not their bottoms...but the day will come when I can onec again. So now I just have to clean out the closet and make room for the weekends purchases...as there were a few . Got some SUPER cute peep toe espadrilles (black satiny) from H & M for so cheap. I love shoes!

Sorry for no personals..I just wanted to check in and say hi. I am thinking of you all and as always enjoy reading what everyone is up to. I will be a better Chick next week when my mom leaves and write personals.

Bernice, I'm so sorry your visit with your son didn't go as you wanted it too. I do truly understand. It's like that when my dh comes home for a visit from Oklahoma City. He hd is in the Air Force. They have lots of friends and both sides of the family to see. I'm finally getting used to it. Things got a little better when I had a royal fit about how she forgot where she came from etc. And that from now on I wanted one whole afternoon and evening with no interuptions etc. I don't care if her husband comes with her or not to the house, I just want time with my daughter, my husband and Abby. How else she spends her time, I don't care. She also stops by the very first day, often before going to his mother's or cousin's where they stay. (They don't want to stay with us. My guess is cuz we're always broke. Whatever.) And, they always stop back by on the way out of town. It's really hard. Cuz they're our babies but they're adults now with their own seperate lives. She's been gone three years and recently turned 25. She still calls pretty regularly. Especially when she's upset. I hope that helps you in some capicity. I want you to know I feel your pain Big hugs to you. Have a wonderful dinner with your church family.

Sharon, I didn't know you had a little garden! I have trouble keeping the dogs out of mine. Next year I'm gonna get one of those ugly nylon fences to keep them out of it. Probably actually get it this fall as I prep the beds for next year. That way, they have til the Spring to figure out it's not their spot. Is Aiden still getting better?? I hope he's all well by now and no one else at home gets it.

Carol, I'm glad your pool parties went well. They're always nerve racking in the beginning. I take Abby to the public pool sometimes and I'm finding there are many women there lots heavier than me. I feel very sad for them, but am proud to see them still out their living their lives and playing with their kids.

I did tons of laundry today and helped dh clean out his side of the closet. He had three of the huge trash bag full of clothes that no longer fit. He's lost right about 100 pounds. I'm so proud of him. He had only about 70 more for his goal. The stuff that's too big for me is still in the garage too so I think Abby and I will make a Good Will run tomorrow. I still have some of my mom's stuff too. Maybe I can get dh to take that. Then I think we'll have room for my car in the garage again.
I should hear something tomorrow about the job I applied for and get scheduled for another.
Food wise was good today. I really do need to remember to eat every few hours instead of just dinner at night. Not good, but today was a little better.
Sorry no more personals. I need to run the vac real quick.

Hello all,

Had a good day overall. Kind of busy, but one of those days that you wonder what you actually did by the time it was over. Before I forget though I worked on a chocolate zucchini cake recipe I had and managed to take it from 181 calories for a 2x2" piece down to 106 calories. And if you can manage without the chocolate chip frosting it would be 88 calories. I put the recipe in the recipe section if anyone is interested. I admit that I served myself a piece, gave my mother one, and got rid of the rest to three different neighbours.

And tomorrow is junk pick up so we got rid of some of our junk. We had put out a few things and there was a guy coming along the street with a pick-up so he helped carry out the rest and chuck it into his truck. I don't know what the going rate is for scrap metal (since that's all most of it was) but with the price of gas I wonder if it's worth it. Doesn't matter to us since it's gone.

Debi - sometimes a lazy day is a good thing. I bought chicken bacon last night, which wasn't as bad as I thought it might be. I was thinking this morning (had it with my eggs) that it might be a good choice for a BLT. Are you using a turkey bacon, or just regular bacon? Sorry to hear that hubby isn't good. I suspect the heat affects chemical balances (oops, just saw Catherine said the same thing).

Catherine - sounds like you're going to set the Canadian legal system afire! I actually hope it doesn't get to that point, but good luck if it does. Years ago (decades now) my mother let a sales agent go. She went through four or five lawyers before giving up. Each lawyer would contact my mother, she would offer them a copy of the complaints file she had about her, they would drop her as a client. As my mother was a manager for a national company I was always surprised that someone didn't eventually keep her on (just hoping for a nuisance settlement).

Debbie - I hope that you have a nice night and end up at the street dance.

Cyn - it's easier to fall off the wagon than to keep going. Sometimes it's just so darn hard to do everything right. So you can feel bad for a very short period of time and then pick yourself up and start working at it again. That's about the best that any of us can do. Good luck.

Penny - you should be proud of your riding. So boast away.

Bernice - We had a yellow lab who used to get skin rashes every few years. We would have to dress the skin and do the cone thing. I always felt really bad for her, since I knew she didn't understand why we were doing it. I'm sorry that your visit with your son wasn't as good as you had hoped. I suppose that's what happens as they start to forge their own lives.

Sharon - I do hope that hubby doesn't end up without a job. It's a horrible thing (the waiting) especially since you figure the decision was made ages ago. Just tell people and let them get on with their lives. Hopefully Monday brings good news.

Carol -
I managed to drop over two pounds from yesterday just by upping the water intake. I knew with being outside that I should have been drinking more, but I could see the symptoms of retaining too much water. So drink up and hope for the best.

Ratkitten - I used to help my mother with larger parties. The difference is that now I do all the cooking. I really do enjoy giving them. It sounds like we'll end up having two as there's at least one (possibly two) of the guys out of the country on business over that weekend. So their wives will come and will likely have the two couples over once they're back. My mother has gone from not being in the mood to now planning two other dinners. I've created a monster.

Annie -
that's pretty impressive with the 5K numbers - hmmm, that's 30K in 6 days. Yes, very impressive.

Julee - sounds like you're having a nice visit, and I'm sure you'll find something to do when your mom leaves.

Sandy - that's great progress that both of you have made. It's nice to get rid of the stuff you no longer need.

Well ladies, I think that's it for me tonight. I'm going to try and get an earlier start tomorrow (or at least a faster one). I felt today that the morning just disappeared. That's okay once in a while, however, there are lots of garden tasks that need doing! Take care all, and we'll see you in next week's thread!

Well the lawsuit already got dropped. As soon as he found out I was going to represent us, he called his lawyer. I guess my reputation proceeded me. I was so looking forward to it too. I haven't gotten to take someone apart on the witness stand in years. Oh well, maybe a telemarketer will call. I like to do my own form of interrogation to them. They never call twice for some reason.

The first newspaper review of my book came out today. It was favorable. I was expecting to get slammed. The idea of a bad review was the main reason I didn't want reporters at my book signings. I have trouble with compliments, but I also have trouble with criticism.

Tomorrow my psychiatrist is back from vacation. We'll have lots to talk about.
