300+ Weekly Thread #1153

WELCOME

We are a group of individuals who weigh or have weighed 300+, or near there. This group was formed to provide a place for others like us to find support and hope. We are aware of the distinct problems that come with weighing over 300 lbs.

We want to invite everyone (roosters as well as chicks!) to join us in our journey. We share laughter and tears, heartaches and fears ... joys and celebrations. We also share what works for us and what doesn't.

We know the thread can move very quickly, and that people often make "personal" remarks and keep a number of conversations going. Please feel free to contribute even if you can't make personal comments all the time.

Finally, we also have several extra threads going on simutaneously such as Monthly Challenges, Weekly Weigh-ins, Recipes, Bios, Photos, Exercise, Info for Getting Started and more. Many of these threads are stickied at the top of the page. Please feel free to check them all out.

We have found this thread to be more than just a support group... we have found it to become a home. We invite you to join us.

I know you'll all agree that we are really thankful for the free services here at 3FC. The sisters offer all of this support and information with no charges to us. There are a couple of ways though that we can help out.

If you are thinking about buying anything at Amazon, why not help out 3FC at the same time? You can do this by clicking on the button for the Amazon "store" in the upper right hand corner of the screen on the PURPLE tool bar. A portion of your purchase price will be given to 3FC by Amazon. It doesn't increase your price at all, but it does help out 3FC. You can use any of the Amazon.com links that you see on the site in order to help contribute to the site.

Also, BTW, in case you didn't know it, you can view the message boards "ad free" for a minimal charge. I think it's $15 for 6 months. A very small investment to be rid of the annoying ads and make your pages load quicker.

There have been some concerns expressed by the powers that be about copyright infringement. So please, if you are directly quoting someone else or printing an article in whole or in part, please give credit where credit is due!!!

dgramie 04-07-2008 09:53 AM

Heather _ sorry you didnt sleep good. try and get to bed early tonight .

Dmpls_ awesome job on 5lbs. We seem to be loosing at about the same pace. Its so exciting. Told you all that work would pay off. Your son is going to notice the difference when he sees you. My daughter in college always comments when she sees me. She goes weeks without seeing me so she can tell more than anyone else.

I woke up with sore muscles today. My back and legs and arms are sore. I think i over did it the last few days. Today is a lifting day so i may have to go easy on it. Hubbys says it will make me feel better.
THe sun is shining bright here and im taking my little ones out to play for the day. TIme to drag out sun screen for them. Also with them all being right at 2 i bet i go thru bandaids this summer. Hubby has ran to the store to pick me up a riding toy. I asked moms to bring them but one forgot and its been non stop fighting.
Have a wonderful day everyone!!

dogpal 04-07-2008 10:56 AM

Worthapenny: Great job to the weight loss family. How awesome that you guys are all working together to get healthy!

Heather: sorry you had a rough night. Hugs. The person adopting a pug is Rena. Sorry don't recall her user name. Under he user name it was Rena though.

Bernice: Woo hoo on the -5 pounds! Now, get some work done my friend.

Jeanne: Hi there.

Well, it is almost 8 a.m. I applied for 3 jobs yesterday on line. One of them is with the College here. I have an application to fill out and send to the County and then 2 places that I need to go and take my resume in person.

I hope you all have a wonderful day and drink your water, move your bodies.

Blessings all,
Annie

rainbowsmiles 04-07-2008 11:02 AM

Bernice, I am soooooooooo PROUD of you. It is so exciting to see your goals and see you reaching each and every one of them! WHAT AN INSPIRATION YOU ARE!
Congrats on another 5 pounds gone. Thats Incredible!
Heather....worry is sometimes such a troublesome thing to deal with. I fret something awful sometimes. Most of the time I can jsut rely on God's plan for me. Other times I don't fare so well. I hope you gain the peace you need and that you can rest better.
Debi, I sure hope you get to feeling better soon. I am surprisingly not sore today after the weekends bike rides...20.7 miles one day and just over 10 miles and the bridge the next! BUt, I can relate to you about the sunscreen. That is something I forgot about this past weekend and wow are we paying for it now! Sometimes when I go swimming or riding I forget about that darned sunscreen and then it is too late! I look like a raccoon this morning!
My tomato plants hav doubled in size and I have beautiful little yellow blossoms now! I love planting and watching things grow. It gives me hope.
Carol, how are you??? I am still soooooooooooooo PROUD of you getting that 2 in the front! I bet you just keep grinning and smiling every time you get on those scales now! YOU ARE IN CONTROL!
Voodoo....how was your visit with Ammi? Where are those pics?? Give her our best and tell her we miss her posts.
How is everyone else doing?
hugs
rainbowsmiles

rainbowsmiles 04-07-2008 11:02 AM

Annie...........good luck on your job applications this week :)

JuleeCeeS 04-07-2008 11:16 AM

Annie: Thank you so much. It really means a lot to me. I am having so many issues with this family dinner...it's nice to know that someone is appreciating my efforts. If you ever have any other questions, I'd be happy to try to answer them.

It's back to work today. I think that my 5 days of stomach wonderfulness were brought on by a major bout of lactose intolerance...either that or some mild food poisoning. I am still feeling some gas pains from time to time but I din't feel like I am going to explode anymore. I just need to keep a closer eye on what I eat I guess...and if things don't settle down in another day or so I may be off to the Dr. Thankfully I do feel rested....so that is a plus.

Happy Monday...

CatherineM 04-07-2008 11:33 AM

I'm actually going to get to go outside today. At least it quit snowing yesterday. I'm supposed to start my cognitive behavioural therapy for the PTSD today, and I'm kind of nervous. I'm actually nauseous. This therapy is supposed to actually work. I guess I'll find out pretty quick. I'm feeling good enough to start back on my diet. That's a good sign. Now if they would let me go back to the pool, I'd be very happy.

BattleAx 04-07-2008 12:14 PM

Hi chickies,

Bernice: Woo hoo on your big loss!

Rainbow: What a beautiful-looking ride over the bridge. I love bicycle riding, too, and plan to fix up my bike to get it in shape for riding. You should be so proud of yourself for accomplishing the 20 mile ride...and enjoying it!

---------
Here is an update on my date.

He took me to the finest restaurant in town.

We had a great conversation. Lots of commonalities, no alarming differences.

Overall, he had a very nice manner. Open, engaging, regular guy but clearly intelligent and informed. He was interested in what I had to say and shared a lot about himself as well.

So it was a great conversation but I can't say that it was a romantic one. I would go out with him again, but there was no promise of a call or talk of another date.

We shall see.

DMPLS 04-07-2008 01:25 PM

Debi- Yes we are going at the same rate I think and that’s awesome my friend! Sorry to hear you are sore today but, I think your DH is right if you work those muscles you should loosen them up a bit....may not take away the soreness but it will help. After my training class Thursday night I wasn’t sore, not even Friday....but Sat & Sun I was sore weird huh? Hope you get that ride on toy situation squared away....I know 2yr olds can be brutal about not sharing their toys! LOL

Jeanne- Thanks so much I appreciate the nice comments!

Annie-Thanks so much!!! You are such an inspiration to me!!!! I have been working my bumm off....I have cleared out about ½ the trash that everyone stores ontop of the desk....I still need to tackle the file cabinet! UGH! Cleaned the Kitchen, scrubbed the countertops and the back splash....emptied a load & ran a load of dishes.....my mountain on the dinning room table is looking more managable as does the breakfast bar....LOL but I’m still not done. Just taking a short break! Hehehhe GOOD LUCK on your job hunting!!! Will keep you prayer on your job situation.

Rainbow- thank you so much your posts always bring a smile to my face! Your love for your DH....always shines through whenever you speak of him and that is so refreshing!!!

Julee-Glad your almost over that stomach problem! I had my gall bladder removed a few years ago....and ever since when I eat really spicy or greasy food it ummm passes quickly through me and I have that “explosion” feeling LOL so I can relate! Glad your almost over it!

Catherine-So glad you are able to get out today! I still can’t believe you are still having snow!!!! I will try to send you some sunshine from down here! We finally have some!!! This week it is scheduled to be in the 70’s all week....but the weatherman around here have been known to get things wrong a time or two(thousand)! LOL

Battle-thanks!!! Well your date sounded nice. Even if it doesn’t lead anywhere at least you had a nice dinner (paid for?) and an enjoyable conversation with a man! Stepping stones are not just in our weight loss you know.....for you this is a stepping stone to a relationship, whether it be with this gentleman or another you have conquered that first date! WOOOHOOO girlfriend!

Ok its back to my MOUNTAIN of junk I need to deal with LOL
Talk to you all later on!
BErNICE

CatherineM 04-07-2008 02:08 PM

Battle-He sounds promising. Wait to see before deciding there's no chemistry.

DMPLS-We get lots of sunshine with our snow. I think that is what makes it endurable. It's supposed to get up to 5 today. That's 41F. That's practically tropical. It's almost time for the city to scrape the streets. In spring they scrape up all the sand and gravel they put on the roads during winter to recycle it for next year. By this time the piles are a foot deep on the sides of the road, and in huge piles in the corners of parking lots. Spring clean up here is important. We've got 6 months worth of litter all melting out at once.

I'm leaving in a few minutes. I actually had to take a trank in order to calm down enough to even go to the appointment. I'm still convinced I don't need the therapy, yeah right. I can't remember what I was like before anymore. I'm such a different person now. Better in a lot of ways, weaker in others. It's all about baby steps, and I've been avoiding this step for a long time.

gggirls 04-07-2008 02:30 PM

Hiya Peeps - wow it's busy here today - lots of great things going on. Just popping in for now - personals later - the root canal from last week is giving me major issues - back to the endodontist this afternoon - I haven't slept much and have huge dark circles, not to mention the pain.

Keep up the great work - see you all later.

Hugs to everyone,
Carol

babybear101 04-07-2008 03:43 PM

Hello Everyone, Ok I have something funny to report. Our new house has a very small full bathroom in order to make it appear bigger it has a full length wall mirror on the opposite side of the tub. So basically you step out and well there you are in all your glory infront of this full mirror. Needless to say I am not comfortable with the mirror. I am one of those that only take pictures from the neck up kinda ppl. It will take some time to accept that.

Bernice -- Congratz on the 5 pound loss :carrot:

Debbi-- how many children do you care for?

Annie -- good vibes coming your way. I have decided to go back to teaching next year and am starting the long task of getting everything straight. I feel your pain. My lovely work from home job seems to be playing out as they are "restructuring". Flowers are an extravagance not a need and with times being tough sales are down basically.

Julee--I feel your pain with the lactose. Since I totally gave up all dairy I feel so much better. I avoid it all together. I read food labels and am very careful. It has been very hard as I love cheese, ice cream, and milk.

Battle-- Your date sounds nice.. It is nice to be able to talk to an intelligent man .

Hugs to everyone I missed...

Tina

JuliaDH 04-07-2008 04:22 PM

Afternoon Ladies!

CatherineM - You will be fine at your appointment. I am glad that you are feeling better.

DebiM - I have similar issues with daycare parents. They tend to forget things when convienent. Like forgetting the day I booked off after many reminders. And show up anyway and want me to fix the problem of no care for the day! Hmm They don't like taking thier kids to gyn appointments. Why should I take their kids with me?

Bernice - Job Well done! *****five gold stars for you! Enjoy your time off this week!

Annie - Wishing you lots of luck with your job apps!

Rainbowsmiles - After hearing about your adventures. I am getting more excited about my new bike delivery! Hopefully next week it will be in.

JuleeCees- Glad to hear you are feeling some what better!

Battle - Yes dinner with an intelligent man is a special and rare opportunity LOL. Thrilled to hear you had an enjoyable time.

Today I had WI for another 1/2 lb loss. For a total of 8.75 lbs to be precise LOL. I was hoping for alittle better than that. But considering I had one extra dairy serving yesterday and some hubby stress. I will take that as a victory since I did not go off and gorge on a whole bag of chips to spit him in our disagreement!

Went to the childrens museum today with my 4yr old DD. It was a school trip and they have the Jane Goodall & chimp display in on special loan. It was very interesting. I learned that chimps dont have tails like other monkeys do.

Now to catch up on dishes, laundry and tidying! Have a great evening!

JuliaDH 04-07-2008 04:23 PM

BAbybear 101 - I have a mirror by my bed that is the same LOL

CatherineM 04-07-2008 05:31 PM

Tina-That mirror would have to go. I wouldn’t care how many years of bad luck, I’m afraid I would have to send it to its reward.

Carol-Rootcanal is so much fun. I know I need one done, but am waiting as long as possible. If I can put it off two years, then it will be covered by insurance and be free. I can put up with a lot of stuff for that because my last one cost like $1500.

Julia-My husband and I never fight. I knew I was missing out on the makeup sex, and now you’re telling me I could have an excuse for a rocky road binge as well. I’ve just got to find something to disagree with him about.

I survived my first CBT session. I’m still in one piece. He’s actually going to try to induce panic attacks in his office as part of the therapy. This could get interesting. My homework for this week is to visualize using the phone, and picking it up. Next week I will get to start dialing and hanging up. Professional permission to make crank calls. I don’t know why everyone seems to think that my refusing to use the telephone is such a big deal.

gggirls 04-07-2008 08:16 PM

Catherine - glad you're back and in one piece. Are you making a list of crank calls you will make - maybe the zoo wanting to speak to Mr. Lyon? JK - brings back adolescent memories though - calling the drug store to inquire if they have Prince Albert in a can - oops better let him out. All kidding aside great to hear your sense of humor is intact. Any word on when you can get back to the pool?

Julia - great job on the loss - another .5 gone forever. When you figure out the calories/serving of husband stress let me know as sometimes I have quite a craving.

Tina - sounds like the new house is starting to feel like home. Perhaps you could modify the mirror to be one of those magic mirrors that change your appearance. It's great to see you posting again.

Heather - our girls were restless last night too - winds were high here and I chalked it up to that. Hope you get some much needed rest tonight.

Bernice - 5 pounds - great job! And look at that 32 pounds gone forever. You are doing fantastic.

Debi - did you have fun playing outside today? I agree with hubby - lifting today may be the best thing - although my trainer only allows strength training every other day - apparently a center policy to let the muscles rest between sessions. Be sure you drink plenty of water after also.

Jeanne - it's always so nice to see your smiling face - howya doing?

Annie - what can I say - you are one awesome chick. Oh - I owe you a story about my latest treasure. Several weeks ago my cousin from Maryland brought my 92 year old uncle to visit my parents - mom doesn't cook - I cooked dinner for them all. I am one of 61 cousins - he is the oldest - I am one of the youngest. I have a large Prince Albert tobacco can, Red Man tobacco lid - very bent up - has always held my dad's marbles (another treasure dad gave me years ago). He asked if the can was our grandpa's - told him the story. He told me of a tobacco tin our grandpa had that he now has - I showed him the 2 things my gpa gave me - we talked about him - my gma died before I was born and my gpa when I was 6 so I didn't know him well. He told me stories of spending summer with them on their "farm". Sorry this is so long. Oh - one other point is his mother was my mom's half-sister even though there was no differentiation on our part - my gpa was her step-father. OK - so last week I get a package from him - inside is the tobacco tin he spoke of - original tobacco stamp on it. Inside a note on top of yellowed newspapers. The note explained that the tin and the 27 arrowheads inside had been given to him by our gpa and he wanted a blood grandchild to have them. I was numb - the newspapers were dated January 29, 1961 - St. Louis Globe Democrat. It wasn't just the fact of the tin - knowing my gpa had touched it. It was the arrowheads he had picked up and given to my cousin. And then realizing their use before gpa picked them up from his fields. I have touched them and "felt" their story so many times.

My favorite niece (also Annie) teaches 2nd grade. In Missouri you learn about Indians in 2nd grade. I'm going to have them shadowboxed and she can use them as a teaching tool for next year.

Susan - I'm good! What amazing pics of your ride. How are you doing? I'm not sure I could bike that close to the traffic - although not many people bicycle here so there aren't alot of protected areas.

Julee - I'm with Annie - I loved your posts explaining Jewish rituals. Hope you are feeling refreshed and ready to be back at it.

Battle - thank you for sharing your date with us. The ability to have great conversation with someone is huge.

I had another procedure done this afternoon on the tooth and left with 4 prescriptions and advice not to travel this week - I'll wait to see how I feel tomorrow because I really need to get back in to my travel schedule this week. I'm a little concerned about my WI tomorrow due to all the prescriptions I've been taking the last 5 days.

On the up side I did get on my treadmill at home yesterday - I really missed my Sunday double water/land workout - how dare my trainer think he needs a day off - LOL.

OK - I am caught up on today's personals. Time to go find something mushy that doesn't need chewing.

Hugs to everyone,
Carol

CatherineM 04-07-2008 08:59 PM

Carol-I'm planning to go back to the pool the first day that he is out of town. He can't stop me if he isn't here. He has threatened to take my suit with him. If he does, I hope he gets his bags searched.

LOL I can handle snow on the ground with sunshine....but tropical at 41 LOL now that is funny. I grew up in Vegas.....when we got stationed in Colorado years ago....it was my first REAL experience with WINTER LOL I didn’t drive for 6mths out of the year! Now I am better with snow but still prefer looking at it from the front window LOL

LOL I think Im with you on this one....put it in storage till you get to your goal weight LOL that’s what I would do....cuz I think then I will want to look at what I’ve become!! I don’t think I will even care about extra skin and saggy topside LOL

I’m so glad you are going to therapy.....if it is an issue for you then it is a big deal...however that doesn’t give people the right to make an issue about it with you. Really people should be more open minded.....but such is life we live with inperfect people. I think the crank calls sound like fun!!! When I was a teenager we use to call the Dr. Pepper bottling plant up and sing “I’m a Pepper, you’re a Pepper....” LOL and hang up LOL ummm maybe you could work up to something fun like that!?? LOL Hey I give you permission to crank call me anytime!!! (although that would mean a long distance charge on your part LOL) Proud of you for going and trying to work through this, I know how difficult it could be.

I know that would so awesome to have something so old from your gpa! I know I’ve got some dolies from my gma and I cherish them dearly. I would love to see a picture of them once you get them in the shadowbox!!! I’m so sorry you are still having tooth issues hopefully this set of meds work and you will be back to normal soon! GOOD JOB on the treadmill time!!! You can do this Sunday thing I know you can!

Well I just got off the phone with a friend from 24 yrs ago! We talked for 3hours!!! LOL she found me through myspace LOL and called today! Ohhh man what a blast from the past! LOL She was a few years younger than me and dated my Dh’s best friend’s younger brother.....we hung out quite a bit and got really close and then with DH joining the military we lost contact! WOW talk about covering a lot of material in a short time! 24yrs of life WOW! That was fun and she is going to call me tomorrow again!

Well I didn’t complete my task for today of my file cabinet but I still have a few hours before I go to bed so I will start sorting the rest of it......then tomorrow I can organize the files inside.....laundry is almost done....and then tomorrow the attic yippie!!!! LOL

Hope everyone had a great day today! It was simply gorgeous today! I have sooooo missed nice weather! I hope the rain stays away this week!

Toodles poodles!

rofl @ Catherine's comment about the bathing suit search! LOL

gggirls 04-07-2008 09:42 PM

Catherine - I'm surprised at you - I would have thought you would tell Himself that if he decided to take your suit with him you would go anyway.

Debbie54 04-07-2008 09:45 PM

Bernice, congrats on the 5lbs gone!!

Debi, have fun with those little ones and enjoy the sun.

Annie, I hope you find your dream job soon.

Susan, your bike trip looked really beautiful going over that bridge. What a workout!

Julee, hope your tummy troubles are easing up.

Catherine, how are you feeling? Did you get to go outside?

Battle, I hope he calls you again. It sounds like it was a very nice date.

Carol, sorry to hear that the root canal didn't go so well. I hope the doc can fix ya up. Try and get some sleep.

Tina, I think I would have to get rid of that mirror.

Julia, O I used to love to go to the museum with my son. How fun! Congrats on the 1/2 lb gone. Some is better than none.

Last night our water heater started leaking so we had to go buy a new one today. When we got it home, it wouldn't fit thru the space so we had to box it back up, take it back and get another one. Sheesh, if it's not one thing it's another.
On the weight loss front, I'm at a loss. I'm up 9lbs. I know I didn't eat THAT much salami and cheese. So I'm chalking it up to TOM even though it's not here yet but I have all the signs. I'm so frustrated, pissed and just in a bummer mood. Hopefully things will get better, at least that's what I keep telling myself.
Tomorrow is my DH Jim's birthday. His last year in the 40's!!! He wants to go to the casino this weekend to celebrate and go out to dinner too. Another challenge but I think I'll be fine. I've got his mayonnaise cake baking right now. Ugh, I hate having stuff like that in the house, but I know it will happen a few times each year, and just have to prepare for it. It's just part of life.
Hope all are movin' and groovin'
Debbie
p.s. We ended up taking Marilyn to a no kill humane society. They think she will get a new home pretty quick as she is so cute. I miss her so much it hurts.
But I think it's best she gets a home with her being the only dog. We couldn't trust her and Sadie together anymore. Sadie is healing well. We just have to keep an eye on her so she doesn't keep licking her wounds.

rosebud76 04-07-2008 09:46 PM

Hey ladies! I’m enjoying a beautiful Sunday afternoon at church. We’ve got wireless set up now here at the church and since DH is the youth pastor his laptop is synced to the wireless. I have to tell you guys that I got an AWESOME deal today at Family Christian! They have some cd’s on sale 3 for $15 and if you got one of them you got a free cd and then I got the Veggie Tales movie Jonah to add to the “when we have children” collection. Anyway, I spent $22 and SAVED $34.96. Way awesome!

I’m staying OP today which makes me happy. We love to eat at this Mexican restaurant that some friends of ours owns and I asked Armando what to order when you’re watching what you eat, so today I followed his instruction and ate pretty well but probably was a little starchy, so I’m going to stay away from the carbs this evening.

To Everyone – Thanks so much for the congrats on the WL, it is VERY exciting time right now! Thank you for pulling me through those tough times.

Debi – yeah they have contests all the time. That’s always an incentive. Isn’t it nice to have sunshine and no more rain? LOL

Carol – where in MO are you? I lived in Cape Girardeau for awhile.

What is TDP?????

DMPLS – where does your DD go to school at? I have a friend at UofL and she was sharing with us all of the crazy stuff that has been going on. A lot of crime and it’s getting out of hand. She said that they have called in the Metro police to help out.

What is NSV????

Debbie – I hate to hear that about the dogs. My FIL’s dogs fight all the time. It’s very stressful

Real – Ok, I have found someone who has already opened their pool. My friend from back home, I told her she was crazy, it was all so the backyard wouldn’t look so boring. I laughed!

Julia – how’s your doggie doing?

Ok, so I started this Sunday afternoon and just finished it! WHEW! I have been extra busy! I know I’ve missed some personals but I’ve enjoyed keeping up.

CONGRATS TO EVERYONE ON THEIR LOSSES!!!!!!!!

Time for The Bachelor. Lol

Lauren -- NSV is 'non-scale victory' == from everything to fitting in smaller clothes to being able to do things we couldn't do before. It's a great way to track progress!

Julee: Thank you so much for the offer. I would love to hear all about your dishes that you create to symbolize things, like the mortar. So very interesting. Whenever you have holidays let me know what you are making and what it symbolizes. Thanks again. Hugs.

Battle: I'm glad that your date wasn't awful at least.

DMPLS: Thanks for the prayers on my job. I know God listens :) Good job cleaning. I know you can get it done. It feels so good to accomplish a task that won't have to be repeated weekly. Great job.

Catherine: Hugs to you on the therapy. I will be praying that it helps you tremendously. I love how you are now but I know that you must feel that some work needs to get done. Hang tough.

Carol: Sorry about your tooth. Hugs. Thank you so much for the arrow head and tin story. I adore that your uncle sees in you someone that will cherrish those items as you do. My Uncle has a teddy bear for me that belonged to my Grandpa. It is over 100 years old. He told me he will give it to me but he forgets. I don't want to bug him about it it is just such a wonderful thought that he would give it to me. I have a pocket watch that belonged to my Gpa too. It is kind of odd to be so attached to things that belonged to a man I never met. lol. I just know from all the stories my family tells about my Grandpa that I would have adored him. Hope you feel better soon and don't push it on the weight loss when you are hurting. Give yourself a break.

Tina: The mirror thing would probably not be by favorite thing either. lol. I have a full length mirror hanging behind a door. lol.

Julia: Woo hoo on being down 1/2 pound. Way to go.

Debbie: Sorry you are up. I bet it is TOM for sure. I am betting that is my problem too. I feel all puffy and swollen and I have been working out like crazy so there is no other reason. I'm sure you will shed the water weight soon. Hugs to you on Marilyn too. You did the best thing and I bet someone will come and adopt her soon.

Lauren: Score on all the grea purchases! I'm not too sure about TDP but NSV is Non Scale Victory such as getting into a smaller size, being able to move or exercise where you couldn't do it before, fitting into a chair with arms (that was a big one for me). Hope that helps.

Well, I did only 1 mile today but I feel good about it. I did WATP tape and last time I put it on I couldn't do the whole thing. So I am happy with the progress that I can now do the whole thing. I have not been feeling the best today. I think a bit of nerves for no job and also a bit of sinus stuff. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

Blessings all,
Annie

Oops, Heather we must have been posting at the same time. Hugs and big Blessings to you,
Annie

worthapenny 04-07-2008 10:48 PM

DMPLS- 5 lbs!!!!! AWESOME! Good for you!
Carol- Sorry you are still having problems with the tooth. Try and get some rest when you can. I have been there and know that all the ibuprofen in the world does not help.
Battle- Glad to hear your date went well. Hope he calls again, it is so nice to have someone to carry on a conversation with at dinner.

Busy day at work today. Army son leaves to head back to base tomorrow. I have the day off. I have a mamo appt. in the morning early, Yeah for me! NOT! The whole experience of breasts being smashed. OUCH! then home to get him and take him to the airport. It has been nice having him home. I will need the rest of the day off as I will miss him and wouldn't be worth anything at work anyways. Hubby off this a.m. early so will miss him too! Don't worry I won't have a quiet house, 2 girls at home! NEVER a quiet moment. After younger daughter's dance practice tonight we went to the Y and I walked the treadmill and then we went swimming. It was good! I am tired now as I have been awake since 3 a.m. so I will hit the sack as soon as older daughter gets home from the track meet in a few minutes. She does the shot and discus. She said she got 3rd and 4th out of several teams. So not bad for only the second meet. She will get home soon. Always busy here, I don't know where I find time to sleep. I really need to do some laundry. Maybe tomorrow. I know I could be doing it now instead of typing. But I am seldom on the computer. Older son is doing well since wife left, I just worry about him. I hope everyone has a great week. I will try and pop in when I can. Thanks for listening!!

CatherineM 04-07-2008 10:53 PM

Wow, ya'll know me so well. I did tell him that I'd just go without my suit. I also threatened to call the airport security and give them a tip about someone smuggling stuff under his shirt (he has a belly). See how he'd like a strip search on his way to Ottawa. I've been told though, that I have to be on my best behaviour if I want to get time off for good behaviour to get to go to church this Sunday. I get ganged up on. He threatens to call my boss the nun. They have powers you know. I don't get to have near as much fun as I'd like to. They don't even let me play with my yo-yo in the choir loft anymore.

Hello everyone,
I had a wonderful day outside with the kids. Huby went and got another rideon toy. Of course they all want to ride each others and still fought. I think its all about jsut turning 2. Actually they did great outside ,,we even made it around the block..i had to carry the youngest who is 22 month half way home. I kept thinking he felt light...i think he weighs 27lbs. I have lost more than he weights..
Hubby is running fever tonight,,,he never gets sick!!! He is bipolar and im scared to give him any cold medicine. So for now he took tyenol. I will call the dr in the morning if he is stilll feeling bad. HE said his chest is tight...I think some of it might be from lifting to much to fast!
My chest got really tight and i had a hard time getting a deep breath when i was sick. I hope he doesnt have that mess!!!!!!!!!!!
dmpls_ have fun with the attic,,,jsut think of all the wonderful clothes you will find that will fit now!

carol and heather- I have to agree I can hear catherine telling himself that. She keeps me laughing!!

lauren _ i spent the day outside and feel wonderful and even my legs are not ghostly white anymore.

debbie_ hang in there the weight will come off..I just got thinking a little while ago ...why do so many celebrations have to center around food.

carol- we lift m-w-f...but last week our basement was flooded on friday so we had to lift on sat instead. Hubby is a stickler for taking the day off in between. I lifted tonight and feel much better,,,actually just playing outside with the kids loosened me up alot.

babybear_ i keep 3 toddlers. they are ages 25 months 24 months and 22 months...they keep me hopping. I love them so much!!

julia_ your right I have babysit for parents like that,,,but now i have wonderful parents. I mainly keep teachers kids. I am very choosy about who i keep. I have missed 3 days sick this school year and that is unheard of for me. I never take time off. I did take off 2 days of spring break . How many do you keep? I have ran a day care off and on for 21 yrs. I tried to get older kids when my kids were growing up so they had playmates.

well i think its bedtime for me,,,actually its past my bedtime,,i seem to have extra energy tonight..maybe its the glass of tea I had at dinner time. Im not use to caffine.

Hi just another quickie, things just seem to be geting on top of me & keeping up with everyone's news is hard.
Battle, sounds like a good time anyway, even if it doesn't lead to anything. Ameal with an attentive & intelligent guy sounds like heaven! Esp to someone like me who gets out to 1-2 meals a year with hubby SANS our boys, lol.xxxxx
Annie, good luck with the job hunting, I'm waiting for a reply from my creative writing tutor to be a 'referee' for my job appl, I'm thinking of going for the assistant librarian (sp?) at the local school (11-18 year-olds). It's scary, I'm so worried about rejection!xxxxx
Debmitch sorry about your dogs, it's a shame a friend coudn't have taken her, but at least you know her new owners will be checked out.xxxxxxx
Carol/gg sorry about your tooth, I hope it can get fixed soon, dental pain is SO awful.xxxxxxxx
I can't remember if I posted about Ammi, but we had a lovely time. It had been sunny & warm enough to wear a lightweight jacket but on Saturday when she was here it SNOWED!!!! We walked around the new shopping centre (mall?) had lunch & a good chat. Her skin has healed from the awful thing she had (she thinks the scars are bad but I couldn't see anything, other than a little pink which looked like 'blush'-saves on make-up!) but her meds have to be upped again as she was getting some more spots & the specialist thought it might be coming back. We've both decided there is no more messing about, we HAVE to get & stay OP AND exercise. I weighed in on Monday & almost cried, how come in a good week 4lbs or more can be dropped but a bad day or week-end is a 7lb GAIN?
Rainbow, that bike ride looks FAB, it's great the cyclsts get their own FENCED OFF lane, much safer. The pics are gorgeous.WTG on the meal with hubby too, you looked radiant & beautiful.xxxxx

Gotta go EXERCISE & sort out some bills,
xxxxsharon
ps Nancy, are you ok?xxxxxx

dgramie 04-08-2008 07:37 AM

good morning everyone,
well hubby feel asleep in his chair and woke up at 5 am freezing and knew he didnt feel right and his glucose had dropped to 38. We had an early dinner and then we lifted weights. He didnt snack because he was feeling bad.
He ate and drank some juice and was still shaking when he came to bed. I checked his temp and he has a fever of 101.8. He never runs fever. I also noticed he is wheezing. Looks like he has the mess i had.

We are suppost to get storms this afternoon and evening. My basement is never going to dry out at this rate. lol

well im up a pound today but its mid week and i dont weigh in till sat. I weigh daily but doesnt get me upset if i see a gain. I know i did have a few salty items yesterday. I came in right at my 1400 calories.,,,,ok 75 of them were bad calories...i had a mini milkyway.

Looks like i will be keeping the kids indoor today. Unless the sun comes out and the rain holds off.
have a great day everyone

I'm so frustrated, pissed and just in a bummer mood. Hopefully things will get better, at least that's what I keep telling myself.

I want you to be encouraged I want you to get past this slight bump in your weight loss roadway! But, in order to get past it we have to look before it.....and I know that sometimes is hard......look at the past week and see what you have done differently than other weeks.....you have to be brutally honest with yourself.....a little extra salami & cheese might bring you up a little but there has to be something else.....if you can review and find nothing then it could just be between TOM & water retention the scale is not nice! But after reflecting on your week.........if you find something else........change it back to the way you have been doing it! Step up on one thing to increase your exercise or decrease your calories by a tad.......or increase vegies instead of starchy & fatty foods.
I don’t want to come across as being “mean” I want to be encouraging but, in order to do that I want you to understand I see myself in each and every one of you and your situations......so for me if I were to gain I would need to reflect and I would more than likely find something that was the cause......if I’m honest with myself. BIG HUGS to you sissy-in-loss!!! LOL Now chin up and start moving!!! Drink more water eat more good choices than bad......look at yourself in the mirror and say “I AM WORTH THIS JOURNEY!”

What is NSV????

TDP= The Daily Plate it is a calorie counting website it is truly the best out there in my opinion.....I have just be battling going and posting my foods LOL I did better yesterday I posted everything I ate.....I also guess-tamated my calorie totals for the days I didn’t post any individual food items....went kinda heavy on a couple of days since I figured when I eyeball calories I tend to say they are less then they are.....LOL

DD goes to Midway(all girls college) outside of Versailles.....she is loving it! She had some “girl-drama” issues at first but she is getting past that.....she has an awesome Nanny position for a Dr from UK. She will work for them full time during the summer and live there ½ the week. This is her freshman year in the Teacher Ed program. She will be teaching 3rd grade once she is all done.

NSV= Non Scale Victory ie: like passing on the chocolate bunny at easter or walking 2 miles when you’ve never done that before or going to a buffet and making good choices. Etc..

Morning ladies~

I finally had movement on the scale. I'm down 15 now. Strange that it moved down when I increased my calories up a bit.

Hello chickieedees....
Its a glorious day! God is GOOD!

Heather: hope all is better with you and that you are getting better sleep.

Jar1965: How are you doing??

Annie: Hows the job hunt going? Anything turn up yet? I think you could be a trainer...look at how fabulous you are doing with your weight loss journey!

Julee: so glad you are feeling better.

Battle: too bad we don't live closer, we could ride together. Keep us posted on your date....and I hope that sparks fly the next time for you.

DMPLS: I really like YOU!! You are so sweet and caring and gosh I wish we lived near each other, we could have tea and then go for a splendid bike ride!!

Catherine, catherine, catherine....YOU are such a hoot! 41F and "tropical" bbaaahahahahahahahaha missing out on make-up sex...and rocky road binges...HAHAHAHAHA...hmmm, i didn't know we needed an excuse! heehee Nigel loves that headaches never slow me down! He asks, hey love, got a headache tonight eargerly...becasue he knows my response is always...hey love, i have a headache, now come over here and help me take my mind off of it! hahahaha

Carol: uggg on the root canal...my heart goes out to you. 48 hrs til deadline. uggggg :( prince albert in a can...hahaha i remember that!! that is soooooooo awesome about the tin and arrowheads...what a treasure. oh the bike bath has a concrete barrier between the riders/walkers and the traffic and a tall railing outside barrier. Its quite safe. still no word. yikes. nerves are getting the better of me. i think i've shed more tears the last week than the last 2 years. anticipation.

Babybear: ugg a mirror...full length did u say! yikes! I don't like full length mirrors either....maybe one day! maybe you could find some way for it to be your friend....maybe posts some encouraging sticky notes to it...like mirror mirror on the wall, babybear is the finest queen of all! :)

Julia: OMG....I bet you are so excited to get your bike here. I just know you will love it too. It's crazy...but I always feel so "skinny" on the bicycle! Let me know how you like riding. When i first started my finger would go numb I was gripping the steering wheel so tight! haha Then my bum would go numb! Now, my bum always gives out before my legs! Good luck to you! Don't forget to add an electronic monitor that gages miles per hour, and distance, etc...it is so encouraging.
ps....your comment about dinner and intelligent man and rare all in the same sentence cracked me up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

rosebud: great savings you found for yourself. way to go. made me laugh... just told me sister last week, if i eat all my vegetables and lose enough weight maybe i can have a "veggietail" hahahaha (skinny butt) i love to eat at the mexican place too...i always pick me out 12 tortilla chips....and then eat as much salsa as i can on each chip, and then i skip any taco shells, or flour tortillas, and just order the grilled chicken and mixed grilled veggies, with lettuce and tomatoes...and it is awesome.

worthapenny: sorry to hear your son has to leave again...my son is in the navy in japan. i miss him so much.

JuleeCeeS 04-08-2008 11:17 AM

Well I am back to being faithful reader....everyone had so much going on....amazing. Just keep trying..all you can do each day is your own best effort...nobody else's.

Tummy...mostly better with bouts of misery on occasion. We're trying to pinpoint what it was that I ate that did this. I wasn't supposed to have cheese today...but then I got a brilliant idea for beakfast so that went out the window. 1/4 low-fat ricotta cheese (50 cal) mixed with SF hot chocolate mix spread on toasted special K waffles with sliced bananas.

Today I have to be at work a little early for mandatory sexual harassment training. I am pretty sure that it's to teach how not to..but the othe way would be much more entertaining. At least this time it's at our building and just for 2 hours. Last time it was 4 hours on the other side of town.

I got compliments on my outfit yesterday...nothing special...but it was nice nonetheless.

I think someone said something about being on MySpace. I am also on Facebook. If any of you would like to know how to get in touch with me on there, send me a PM!!

Beautiful Tuesday to you all....

DMPLS 04-08-2008 11:38 AM

Julee I am on myspace if you want I can give you my contact info in PM

We joined myspace when the kids were all at home.....so that we could see what they were doing and keep tabs on them as well as what their friends posted.....now we have found so many friends and even lost relatives through it I enjoy posting on it and keeping in touch with grown nieces and nephews and a few cousins etc.....Just recently we were contacted by a friend of mine who also found Dh's best friend from middle school/HS whom we lost contact with for the past 24 yrs!!! It's awesome!

Well I ran out for a bit to drop off inspirational posters package for DS and his taxes.....he should be getting back all of his taxes so that will be nice for him once he is out of basic LOL

I just posted this somewhere else on the forum but thought some of you might think this would help you.....

Stay OP for today and only today........dont look at your slip up from yesterday as a downfall but, rather a stepping stone for your launch off today! If we stay OP for today and only today for each of the days in our journey to our goal we will MAKE IT!

RealCdn 04-08-2008 11:44 AM

Good morning all,

Well, the math evaluation is over, with a 75% mark (not too bad considering I didn't study as much as I should have). There's a few areas that it's suggested I work on to a level of 80% before classes start, but I can do that online, and at home.

Anyway, I'm behind on my treadmill time (as I just got in), so I'll be back later in the afternoon to do personals. Hope everyone is having a great day!

JuliaDH 04-08-2008 11:54 AM

Good Day my ladies!

CatherineM - You are just toooo funny! Its a really bad excuse to binge! I am use to eating junk just to add more fuel to the fire. Not a good habit for body or marriage. And I am breaking the habit day by day! Only grace will get me over this stupid stubborn habit. Also you can prank call me if you have a great long distance plan!

Carol - I have not figured out the serving of hubby stress. But when the anger subsided the binge does too. Hope your mouth is feeling better. I feel your pain!

Bernice - I am glad you had a successful tidying day! And connecting with "lost" friends rocks!

Debbie - I am happy your found a place for Marilyn. Just have faith that she will be placed in a loving home!

Rosebud - My christian bookstore just mailed out a new flier got it today...must resist......ugh its a struggle.... My dog Joey is feeling much better. He perked up after abou 54 hours of looking soooo sad with those beagle eyes of his. Must have ate something on his last walk of the night.

Debi - I care for 1 set of 8 yr old twins and a 7 yr old before and after school. And a 3 yr old all day. We are legal having 5 under the age of 10 yrs plus our own. But at this point I am prefering the school aged kids. Mine are 12,7,4). I have a contract with our local gov't to provide subsidized care. And with that tends to come high maintence parents.

This afternoon I will do my workout and finish taking out the boxes of stuff to charity before the kids get home from school. Have a good one ladies!
