We have had a busy afternoon and evening. I cooked lunch and cleaned up. We went down and lifted. Then we decided to go to walmart and get a new mower( ours died last year). I saw some pansies and just had to have them. My poor flower pots looked awful with water still standing in them. I picked up some potting soil. We came home and hubby mowed and I redid my pots and planted the pansies. We also bought one of the starter kits for plants. We planted it tonight with squash, bananna peppers, watermelon and cantalope, and a row of sunflowers. I cant wait to watch them grow. It will be a big savings if they actually grow!
Well i still didnt get anything done on daughters room but I do feel like i acomplished something good today.
zelma_ I love your new pictures.....you amaze me and inspire me!!! I love your necklace.

julee- I would love a day in my jammies......but they never seem to happen. I grabbed a few things for my diet when we were at walmart. I hate grocery shopping..and everything is getting so high.

rena_ great job on the capris. I cant wait to see what fits me tommorow...hubby just carried up the tubs of our summer clothes out of the basement.

babybear_I love my hair short...but it seems like if my hair is short and it needs cutting they keep cutting it shorter and shorter. I looked back at pictures and decided to let it grow again. My girls want me to let it get alot longer...they like straight ironing it. I love the way it looks when they do it but i cant take time to do it. My hair wavy and so thick.

Hope everyone has a wonderful sunday im heading to bed.

Zelma: Actually the hubby and I would love a few days in Vegas and we keep toying with the idea...its just a time and money issue at the present...but who knows. He has been an absolute doll with me being "ill" lately. Fortunately it's nothing terribly severe...I am actually wondering if it's a massive bout of lactose intolerance. We just went for frozen yogurt a little while ago...I am waiting to see if I start up again. I DID get out of tomorrow's meeting though...hooray!

On the other hand, that means a day of staying home and housecleaning with DH. Usually that's sort of his thing and we've both slacked off lately because of schedules...so tomorrow we'll clean together.

Tonight I was motivated to cook so when I went to the grocery earlier I grabbed a few options and let DH pick...which meant I got to pick since he was in an easy going mood. So I grabbed the turkey breast and went to town. I have this wonderful crushed garlic (sort of a paste) that I got from Trader Joes and I spread some of that on the turkey under the skin. Then I rubbed the outside with olive oil and lemon juice and these wonderful poultry grilling spices from Williams-Sonoma. OH WOW did the kitchen smell nice! Paired that with some brussels sporuts that I steamed in a little bit of balsamic vinegar and a salad...and yummy!

I am feeling more ready to go back to work on Monday. I have slept a lot which my body clearly needed and I have not been feeling anxious or under pressure...both of which have been welcome feelings.

MIL called tonight as well...and was very nice. Passover is coming up and the family is doing a big dog-and-pony show for DH's cousin's non-Jewish girlfriend who has never been to a Passover seder (and this year will be no exception). So DH's aunt is making a huge big to-do over everything....but she is really watering it all down to something less than the basics...I am in charge of some of the more "religious" aspects...but they are also the more costly and labor intensive aspects as well. Then I find out that she wants to cook beef short ribs for the dinner...knowing that I STILL don't eat red meat. Her "generous" solution..put extra chicken into the chicken soup just for Julee. Thanks but no thanks...I'll just bring some salmon for myself. So now...I have to make:
1) a noodle dish for 12 people...but they don't know what little secrets I am using for my ingredients and how wonderfully low-cal and low fat it will be.
2) A huge bowl of "harosets", a side dish comprised traditionally of apples, nuts, wine and cinnamon that represents the mortar used to make the bricks in Egypt.
3) preparations for the items on the seder plate...6 items that each have ritual significance to the holiday...including a roasted hard-boiled egg, a roasted lamb shank and freshly grated horseradish
4) some form of kosher for passover dessert (read: made with no leavening or corn syrup)

and probably something else by the time this is all over. Add to that whatever DH and I are bringing to the dinner we are attending the night before and it looks like I might be taking another day off of work to cook. Sheesh!

Hi all,

The film festival has special events, in addition to the movies...lectures, presentations, panel discussions, etc. that relate somehow to the film festival. I was a member of the panel at one of the events. The topic of the discussion was Trends in Independent Film, or something like that. One of my services is business planning, and I have written business plans for independent films. That's why they asked me.

While there, I saw a Portuguese film, called Dot Com. It was about a small town that decides to create a web site to attract tourists and start a fund for building a road to the town, but a large company fights them over the website name. It was cute, a decent movie.

Today I went on a hike at one of my favorite spots, and it was the most beautiful day and a very enjoyable hike. Everyone on the trail was exclaiming about the day and the scenery.

Then I shopped and got incredible deals on my next incentive clothes, size 18, now that the size 20s fit. It's easier to find decent clothes dirt cheap on clearance racks in the smaller plus sizes, I am discovering. I bought the same pair of pants I had previously in a 26 in an 18! Only when I bought them in 26 I paid $40, now I paid $12.99. What a thrill it will be when I fit into them.

Cyn: Keep it up! You'll get the hang of calorie counting.

Rat: If you're feeling skinny, you know the loss is coming.

Catherine: Still snowing? Oh my gosh, I hope it thaws out around there soon.

Bernice: Yay on DH losing 4 lbs. The two of you are doing well. You're looking super in your new pic.

Debi: Good job on getting past the 30 lb. mark.

Julee: I hope you are feeling 100% soon.

Betty: Yippee on fitting into the capris! Isn't it a great feeling.

Julia: Welcome!

Luan: Hiya!

Zelma: Happy birthday! I just turned 47. You look beautiful in your pictures. You were glowing. Isn't it nice that Neil can put his arms around you like that.

My date is tomorrow. I'll post an update.

BattleAx 04-06-2008 12:39 PM

Good morning ladies,

As of today, I'm officially closer to 200 than 300.

Have a great OP day!

Debbie54 04-06-2008 12:49 PM

Happy Birthday Zelma, you look wonderful.

It seems like nothing but bad news here. Our two dogs got into another fight Friday night, and our bigger dog Sadie, had her leg torn open and Marilyn has gotten bites on her head. We had to take Sadie in to the vet and now we can't have them together.
We have to find a place for Marilyn. We put her on craigs list, but only one call and the lady never called back. We have to give her up today because Jim works and I can't handle them together, and they can't be together and I have to keep an eye on Sadie so she doesn't pull out the staples and lick.
We have a shelter here that is a no kill shelter so I'm thinking we might have to put her there. I hate doing this because she is such a sweet dog and totally devoted to me and that is why they got in the fight in the first place. Sadie was sitting to close to me and Marilyn didn't like it.
Needless to say, water and eating right has gone out the window. I've done nothing but worry and cry.
Sorry for being such a downer but I know you guys understand so well being the animal lovers that you are.
Wish me luck today.

Debbie

BattleAx 04-06-2008 01:16 PM

I'm so sorry, Debbie. Many hugs to you.

dgramie 04-06-2008 01:36 PM

awesome job battle..I cant wait to be closer to 200 than 300!!

Debbie Im am so sorry you are having a bad day.

Im cleaning under daughter bed now...if i make it thru that then all i have left is the closet. I think the harderst part is the fact that she has grown up so much and kept so much of her childhood in her small bedroom. She is a pack rat!!!!
I posted a before picture of me...i will have daughter take another pic of me sometime this week to compare.

DMPLS 04-06-2008 02:24 PM

AWESOME job Battle!!! I can't wait till I'm there!!! I just hopped on the scale after a church potluck and I'm down by 4lbs..........weird huh? It's not official till the morning and we all know how our weight fluctuates so we will see what the scale says tomorrow.

Debbie sorry to hear about your doggies!!! Hope you find somewhere safe and loving for one of them to go to.

Debi I like the outfit you had on..can't wait to see your after picture!!!! how is the water in the basement? this week it's suppose to be in the 70's WOOOHOOO!!! Did you try the vinegar?

Happy Birthday Zelma!!!! You look gorgeous!!!! Love the necklace!

babybear101 04-06-2008 02:28 PM

Good Afternoon everyone.

I am officially sick of moving lol. I keep going in the front room where we put all the boxes and they dont seem to be disappearing. My son found several toy boxes of "his favorite toys" so they are all over the living room.

Debbi--I am sorry about the little doggie. My heart goes out to you I know how hard those decisions are. When we lost our home we had to put my big dog down I had had him since he was 8 weeks old. He was very sick and not doing well. Then we had to give the pup up because the apartment we moved into did not allow big dogs. Now I have a little black Jack Russell and love him dearly.

Well, I tried the rice milk and I really like it much better than the soy. The soy has a thick texture that I just dont care for at all. After I finish this box of rice milk I will try the almond and make a decision from there.

Well I am off to cook a meatloaf. Take care.

Tina

Debbie-I'm so sorry about your dog. I had to do the same many years ago. Just take care of yourself, and don't feel guilty.
