300+ Weekly Thread #1150

WELCOME

We are a group of individuals who weigh or have weighed 300+, or near there. This group was formed to provide a place for others like us to find support and hope. We are aware of the distinct problems that come with weighing over 300 lbs.

We want to invite everyone (roosters as well as chicks!) to join us in our journey. We share laughter and tears, heartaches and fears ... joys and celebrations. We also share what works for us and what doesn't.

We know the thread can move very quickly, and that people often make "personal" remarks and keep a number of conversations going. Please feel free to contribute even if you can't make personal comments all the time.

Finally, we also have several extra threads going on simutaneously such as Monthly Challenges, Weekly Weigh-ins, Recipes, Bios, Photos, Exercise, Info for Getting Started and more. Many of these threads are stickied at the top of the page. Please feel free to check them all out.

We have found this thread to be more than just a support group... we have found it to become a home. We invite you to join us.

I know you'll all agree that we are really thankful for the free services here at 3FC. The sisters offer all of this support and information with no charges to us. There are a couple of ways though that we can help out.

If you are thinking about buying anything at Amazon, why not help out 3FC at the same time? You can do this by clicking on the button for the Amazon "store" in the upper right hand corner of the screen on the PURPLE tool bar. A portion of your purchase price will be given to 3FC by Amazon. It doesn't increase your price at all, but it does help out 3FC. You can use any of the Amazon.com links that you see on the site in order to help contribute to the site.

Also, BTW, in case you didn't know it, you can view the message boards "ad free" for a minimal charge. I think it's $15 for 6 months. A very small investment to be rid of the annoying ads and make your pages load quicker.

There have been some concerns expressed by the powers that be about copyright infringement. So please, if you are directly quoting someone else or printing an article in whole or in part, please give credit where credit is due!!!

HAPPY ST PATTY'S DAY EVERYONE  :cupgold: :kissluck:

An Old Irish Blessing
May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.

Howdy, all! Today's my "quiet" day -- I work in an office Tues-Sat, and then have Sun and Mon off, but I also run my own business, so Mondays are chock-a-block with work. I'm walking better, and I can't tell you how awesome it is to stand on two feet!!! I feel much more stable -- no more falling into walls -- and can see how I will be more mobile as time goes on. I'm hoping to get to the gym with my husband tonight, but he left late and thus will be working late, so we'll see. I think it would improve our moods for sure! I'm amazingly almost done with the back of his new sweater -- I love patterns that look cool but that take zero brain power to accomplish! So I've started my mom's sweater :D I figured it would be nice to have something to show her when she visits in April, and her sweater is even easier than his!!! Love the easy.

Hummus and pita chips and water for lunch today -- yum! Hope you all have a happy and successful day!

Happy saint patricks day everyone,
I am up and feeling lots better. That was an awful flu...its a shame it took a flu to make my scales move past 19...I am thrilled with it being at 23 now.
Im trying to rid my house of all the germs today. Have a great day everyone
debi

BattleAx 03-17-2008 11:30 AM

Hi everyone,

I had the most wonderful day yesterday. My friend decided to go over the top in celebrating my birthday. His partner wasn't along for the day but was involved in the planning and the gift. Normally we exchange small gifts and that is it, but he went overboard and I have decided to graciously accept the generosity without feeling weird about it. Our friendship goes back many years, and I appreciate that he wanted to do something extra special for me this year.

My friend is gay, and I call him my personal Queer Eye. He is the one who picked out my eyeglasses, and I rely on his taste for my home decor as well. Yesterday he picked out a blouse for me at Kohl's that I would have passed right by, and sure enough it looks spectacular on me.

Happy St. Patricks Day to all of you. May the luck of the Irish be with you today. I hope that you find your real or virtual pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. The pots contain special weight reducing gold.

babybear101 03-17-2008 11:58 AM

Happy Saint Patty's day!

Well GM everyone! I have found out the hard way I am allergic to milk... what is it? Lactose intolerant... As many know my stomach bothers me hurrendously all the time. Well last nite I was so sick it was not funny. Turns out I am lactose intolerant. So, I am now on a mission to find alternatives as I live on cereal, but this would explain why I have such a hard time with beef as it is high in lactid acid.

Well, lol been trying to type this in between work. I will do more update later.
Not weighing this week as it is TOM.

Talk more later
Tina

plumluvin 03-17-2008 11:59 AM

:wave:Hi. I am new to this sight and thought I might need to introduce my self. I am 30 years old with one son, a niece who lives with me, one step son and step daughter.
I am now weighing in at 344 lbs. The weight has crepped on over the years. I was going to the gym and losing weight when I met my husband, but all that stopped. All the weight has come back and more. I find it harder to motivate my self now for being so busy taking care of every one else. I know I wont be here to take care of any one if I don't take care of me first.
I was suprised :cb: and am greatful for a thread that FITS me I don't have just a few pounds to loose.

heather_dw 03-17-2008 12:12 PM

Blargh.. I did that entire DVD the day before yesterday and the last two days I've been +1.

Also, I was watching the "Today Show" and they had the "Joy Fit Club" on. This lady they were featuring lost 200 pounds in a year. She weighed over 400 pounds and started out limiting herself to 1200 calories :?:

Sometimes I wonder if I'm not losing fast enough and 1200? I don't think I could go that low at this point and I don't weigh near 437 like this lady did,

I weighed 434 starting off and I might have done 1200 cals on a couple of days when I was sick. Most of the time I'm around 1900-2100 cals. I guess that will lower as time goes on, but I could never start out at 1200.

I think she went pretty extreme, IMO..

I wonder if she'll be able to keep it off. You hear of so many stories like that where they dont..

dogpal 03-17-2008 03:01 PM

Hi all,

Just a quicky to say HUGS to Kayley on your Grandma. I'm so very sorry.

Hopefully my computer will be back home from the "DR" tonight.

Blessings all,
Annie

Debbie54 03-17-2008 03:04 PM

Anne, yep, I got out the DDR and did 60 minutes on basic. It felt good to get moving and loosen up those joints.

Debi, I'm so glad you got to go to the shower. I bet she got some really nice things. Great news on the sil noticing that you have lost. It makes it that much better to go AND get complimented. And congrats on the 4 lbs gone!

TheWalrus, I got out my yarn too and started an afghan. It does help curb the urge to eat. Thanks for the idea.

Catherine, love the new avatar. So cute!

Bernice, the burritos sounds really good. I love mexican food as it is, and then for it to be lo cal is even better. It sounds like you've been one busy lady with the laundry, cooking and cleaning. You go girl!!

rainbowsmiles, yes I've seen those and enjoy doing them. Right now I'm doing a "Puzzle Challenge" 1000 pc. It's a swap meet but it's all done in cartoon style. I love those. You have to find different things in the puzzle once it's done. I'm going to be in Guiness' World Records for having the most puzzles missing a piece. It never fails, I always end up missing one piece. I think there is a ghost or something in the house that takes just one piece. Either that or the cats get up there, knock em on the floor and the dog eats it. Who knows?
I bet you are going to look gorgeous in that dress. Definitely put a pic up for us to see! With your beautiful blonde hair, and a black dress, how can you not look good???

Julee, I'll be thinking of you for the next two weeks. Hope it isn't too hard to get thru.

Bernice, maybe you need to check your battery in your scale. It might be getting low. Happy St. Paddy's Day to ya!

BrokenButterfly, what a cute pic of the pooch!!! Your dinner sounds yummy. We're having corned beef, cabbage and potatoes. Already got the calories added up so I know what I can have for the rest of the day.

Battle, I'm so glad you had a wonderful day with your friend. And indeed, they are great at decorating and clothing. I miss my dear friend Tim. He passed from AIDS many years ago, but I still think of him often. His apartment was something to be envious of.
Happy Birthday!!!

Tina, o my goodness! Who would of guessed huh? Hope you find something else that's healthy to replace that cereal and milk. Can you try soy?

:welcome: plumluvin, yep, you've found the right place.Post often so we can get to know you.

I watched a program last night called "I Can Make You Thin". It's pretty much what we already knew, but he says in the next few weeks, he will help us to control cravings and other stuff. So I'll keep watching and see what happens. He even gives homework. This week I'm suppose to sit with no tv or distractions, take a bite, put the fork and knife down, savor each bite, chew 20 times and then stop when I'm full. I think we all knew that but I wasn't doing that. We have all our meals in front of the tv. I'm going to have to try it. He also said to eat at least one meal with my eyes closed so I can recognize when I'm full with a feeling I'll get. Makes sense. I think it comes on TLC if any of you get that and it's at 9 p.m Sundays.

I think I shocked my body by eating all that crap the last couple days. I actually lost a pound. I guess I didn't do as badly as I thought. I just hope it doesn't show up later in the week.
Off to eat my salad!
Debbie

gggirls 03-17-2008 03:04 PM

Hi Peeps - happy Monday to you all!

Kayley - hugs to you. It's nice to see you again.

Not so much going on today - just a rainy, busy Monday.

Move your bodies, drink you water and SMILE.

Hugs,
Carol

Battle - sounds like a wonderful day. Maybe a pic in the new blouse chosen by your personal fashion consultant???

Ratkitten 03-17-2008 03:47 PM

Hello my sweet friends,

It's nice to see new avatars and Happy Green St Paddy's day stuff! Very inspiring.

Babybear/Tina.. I am leary of soy milk because it is raw pressed soy and more than a cup a day can aggravate hypothyroidism. I use almond milk, suggested by our Peeps here! I like the flavor more too.

Hugs and Luv,
Ratkitten

Debbie54 03-17-2008 05:46 PM

Carol, thanks for the heads up on soy. I didn't know that and I too suffer from Hypothyroidism.

Debbie

CatherineM 03-17-2008 06:39 PM

I went to the pool, then ran downtown to a meeting on human trafficking. That was eye-opening. Now I'm going to make himself take me out to eat.

sandybar 03-17-2008 07:27 PM

Hello everyone. I made it through another Monday. Hooray. We learned today we got the coach we desperately wanted for Abby in softball. I'm so relieved. He's a local cop, and his daughter and Abby have played together before. It promises to be a great year of softball.

Plumluvin :welcome3: I can't say enough about how great a site this is. You'll quickly become family.

Sorry no other personals. I have to get busy on my photo files, recipe files etc.

Hugs to all

Ratkitten 03-17-2008 07:34 PM

OMGosh Debbie, you almost made almond milk come outta my nose! (nice visual, eh? hehe). You are so funny about the puzzles. I used to do puzzles and then glue them together. I had soooooooooooooooo many missing one piece!!

Hugs and Luv,
RK

Feeling happy

Hi all,

Well, let me say I feel like things are going wellish. I hate to commit to it going too well, as I don't want to jinx myself. To start with, I lost 5 pounds this week. Yahoo!! Second, one of my college roommates I have been trying to "find" found me. She contacted me this week, and we have been sending emails back and forth like mad. It is SO nice to be back in touch with her. Finally, a good friend of mine is coming to visit in two weeks. Just for a few days, but I cannot wait. I miss her so.

That's it from me. Happy St Patty's Day!!

Angie

betty grrl 03-17-2008 08:25 PM

Happy St. Paddy's ladies...

I almost "fell off program" once again! But it was almost like a light went on and I thought of all the support from y'all here and that kept me going!! You ladies are truly wonderful. I even went to the gym and worked my bottom off at the gym (30 mins on the elliptical~burnt over 400 cals).

Catherine~I saw a movie (made for TV, think it was set in Toronto) on human trafficking. I was bawling by the end. I honestly couldn't believe how humans could do that to other humans...sheesh!

Realist~Way to go on your 5 lbs gone!! It feels so good when you can get a # like that once and a while. I hope you have a great time when your friend comes to visit.

RealCdn 03-17-2008 09:21 PM

I guess it's too late in the day to say top of the morning to ya. Oh well, happy St. Patrick's Day to everyone. :luck2you:

I popped outside this afternoon to, well, build a bird nest. It's less complicated than it sounds. For the last few years we've had mourning doves nesting in or around our yard. Mostly they use an old platform feeder in the back yard, which they carry bits and pieces of light debris onto to make rather sad looking nests. We usually get two or three sets of chicks in the year. The last year one of them made a nest in one of the hanging baskets by the front walkway. She even let me water the plant, but it's really not the best spot. This morning we watched two doves inspecting one of the hanging pots that we didn't bring in. So I thought I'd throw some nesting material on the platform feeder, hoping they'll pick it instead. It's a little early for nesting, but who knows. The first dove who nested here used to let me hold the camera up to the edge of the nest and let me take lots of pictures. Others have been a little more skittish. You can usually tell how tolerant they are of people.

Since it's 9pm and I'm hopelessly behind already I'm just going to say a big hello to everyone and only do a few personals.

Plumluvin - :welcome2:

Heather_dw - I hate when people are on shows like that. A low calorie diet may work for some, but it can be dangerous for others. I was going through my back-ups the other day looking for some old pictures and found my FitDay log from when I was first losing weight. I didn't track meals for all of it, since at the beginning I wasn't limiting calories. Around the time I ended up in the hospital I was only eating an average of 1300 calories. That's not why I ended up in the hospital, but I had a touch of the flu that I couldn't fight off. My body wasn't strong enough. I really feel if anyone is going to do a very low calorie diet it should be done with a doctor overseeing it. Losing anything, even a little bit, is fast enough. We have to watch that we don't buy into the mentality that tries to tell us that a pound isn't enough. We're not on television, looking for ratings. We're trying to find a better way of living our lives. You're 54 pounds lighter than your highest weight, and 12 pounds down from this start. It's plenty fast enough. :)

I think that's it for me tonight. To everyone else, have a great day. If you're down this week that's great. If you're not - next week is the one.

gggirls 03-17-2008 09:50 PM

Hi Peeps - it's exciting to things moving so fast here at the beginning of the week. Lots of positive energy flowing. I'm not sure I can add much that hasn't been said by this wise group.

Heather_dw - how nice to see you - and less of you - way to go!

Angie - wow - 5 pounds - what a week for you - great to see you too - I've been wondering how it was going for you.

RK - my favorite ratcat - always great to see you - I'm still kinda confused on the almond breeze - I bought it but not sure how to use it - help.

I'm obsessed with my weigh in tomorrow - ya ya - so what's new. It's been a great week and I am so hoping to move the big weight down from the 300. I'm sure you will all be able to hear me at 5 a.m. central time if it happens - better sleep with earplugs.

I suppose I am the un-Irish one here - yesterday I fixed corned beef and cabbage with potatoes. All 3 of these things I enjoy (at least corned beef from the deli). Together I couldn't even eat it. I can now add item #1 to my list of meals I don't particularly care for.

I will talk to you all bright and early in the morning - hope I wake you all! Seriously, thank you all for your support these past months. You all are what has made the difference in my weight loss journey this time. I know it comes from within myself but at times the friendly reminders have been just the right thing to rattle my cage a little and provoke some action or thought. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Hugs to all,
Carol

Ratkitten 03-17-2008 09:58 PM

GGG, do NOT start laughing when drinking Almond Breeze. While it doesn't burn the nose like koolaid or cola, it's still unpleasant!

It's great in cereal, but I got the unsweetened chocolate one to try when I am craving choco milk. It's ok with splenda. Regular/original might be worth the extra 15 calories a glass because I get an aftertaste with splenda sometimes. I use it to cook with so far. I'm still experimenting!!

I also did 10 min treadmill yesterday and did stairs at work today. My calves are sore!! lol

Today was a quiet day at work, but I was clearly nervous that something was going to hit the fan because I'm the only one there with nuttyboss. I still got lots done. I even ate creamed spinach!! Yes a veggie!!

Hugs to all,
RatKat

rosebud76 03-18-2008 12:55 AM

Hi all, I'm new to this thread and could definitely use the support. I want to know how you ladies all do it. There are several times when I just feel like ok, i'm comfortable with who i am and i love myself and my hubby loves me no matter what so why take the effort. then i think about even if i do loose a lot of weight then i'll have loose skin that i won't be able to afford the surgery to have removed... but then... i think about the family that i so desperately want and how i'm not ready to go be with Jesus (although that would be totally AWESOME!) and how i want to grow old. I won't be able to do those things unless i do loose the weight. but being 323 it's super hard. ugh... sorry for this being my first post. didn't know what to say and then it just came out. i'm looking forward to making friendships. :D

btw, i saw a reply about a burrito recipe... what is it please?

:cb: Lauren :cb:

gggirls 03-18-2008 06:44 AM

Good morning Peeps - your sleep is safe - no early wake up call. The body only wanted to get rid of .75 lb - hitting the 300 lb mark square on the nose. That's one pound in the last two weeks but 15 in the last 2 months so I'm good with that. The main thing is I am OP, drinking my water and moving my body - I keep reminding myself patience is a virtue.

Everyone have a great day! Move your bodies, drink your water and SMILE.

Hugs,
Carol

dgramie 03-18-2008 07:38 AM

Good Morning everyone,
Way to go carol at getting to 300. ISnt it funny how easily it is to get caught up in what the scales say for one week when if you look at the past weeks you see the bigger picture. 15 lbs in 2 months is awesome!!!
Lauren_ welcome its nice to have others from KY here!! I live in western and this site has helped me so much. What are you doing to lose weight? I count calories.
dmpls_ you ready for alot of rain...here it comes!!

well hubby is asking for food...lol and im still in coffee mode. Have a great day everyone
debi

CatherineM 03-18-2008 08:29 AM

I am up wayyy earlier than normal. Himself is being interviewed on a morning TV show. God forbid he should set his own alarm clock. Not that I would be able to sleep through, "where's my new tie, where are my black socks." I had to get up anyway. I'm giving a speech downtown to a bunch of social workers on how to deal with their mentally ill clients. For instance, you can't leave a message on their phone on Friday for them to call. They will spend all weekend scared or paranoid that you age coming for them, or are going to cut off their disability checks. By Monday when they get ahold of their worker to find that they just forgot to sign something, they may be certifiable. Leave detailed messages so they know what you want, and that it is no big deal. Never put stress on a bridge that wasn't up to code to begin with. All I've got to say is that they better have some fruit on their breakfast table. I don't play well with others when I haven't had my breakfast, and it is just too freaking early to eat before I leave.

babybear101 03-18-2008 09:43 AM

Good Morning everyone.... it is a rainy rainy day here in Ohio. We are suppose to get rain for 2 days straight.

Ratkitten and anyone else who can help-- tell me about the almost milk and where to get it.

Plumluvin--welcome welcome welcome

Lauren--welcome welcome welcome

I went all day yesterday without any dairy and guess what!!! my stomach is not hurting at all. Ermm my gas was little to none last nite. I cannot believe for so many years I have lived with this and thougth everything else under the sun was wrong. Now starts the search for things I can live with.. I love cheese and milk and ice cream so please please give me all your suggestions. I went through the store yesterday and even some of there products marked vegan have milk or cheese products in them.

Well, off to work have a good one.
Tina

Debbie54 03-18-2008 03:40 PM

Catherine, did you have a nice time out last night? I bet that human trafficking was shocking. It's amazing some people have no value for human life.

Ratkity, so you're the one that sent the puzzle piece stealin' ghost over here!!!!

Angie, wow!! Great news on the 5 lbs gone forever!
I hope you and your friend get to meet again. It would be great to be in touch with old friends.

betty grrl, glad you didn't give in to the urges and even turned it around and went and exercised. Good work!

Anne, did the birds start using the nesting supplies you gave them? I think that would be so fun to watch them build and then have babies.

Hi Lauren, and welcome! I think the way you feel, is how most of us felt when we started. And sometimes still do. It's something that doesn't go away. Some of the people that have made it to goal, still have issues...BUT....they are so much happier for going on this journey. It's not going to be easy, but with help and encouragement, you'll do fine. Just hang out here when you get the urge to eat when you know you don't really want to, and it will help you get past it. Start drinking water, move your body and then the weight will start to come off.

Carol, man...I was hoping to get that wake up scream....um...call. You're so close. I'm sure next week it will be below 300. Just hang in there, you've done so well. Be proud of what you've accomplished.

Tina, so glad you found out that the problem is, your lactose intolerant. I'm sure you'll find things that you can eat that will satisfy the dairy craving. They are coming out with new things all the time.

The sun is finally shining.....for now. It's suppose to be off and on rain all week. We've gotta get to the dump but right now it's so soggy out there, we can't even get to the trash bin to load up the truck. I'm hoping for it to stay sunny at least for the rest of the day and then we can try and get back there.
Not much going on here. I'll probably get the DDR out again today and get some movin and groovin in.
hope all are having a great day!
Debbie

heather_dw 03-18-2008 04:23 PM

babybear: yes, it's been raining for two days straight here too. There are some schools south of St Louis that had to either let out early or go on lockdown because of rising water. Some places have gotten 6 inches in 48 hours. We haven't gotten that much here though, thank goodness but still a decent amount.

catherine: oooh, he's getting interviewed? That's exciting! What were they interviewing him for?

ggirls: Any loss is a loss, right? Way to go! :carrot:

rosebud: Welcome to the group! I know when I was starting, the whole picture was way overwhelming. I broke it down into baby steps. One week, my goal was to drink a set amount of water and then the next week, I'd keep the water habit and add something new, like maybe exercising a few days a week. If you keep building on it like that, it's much easier (or at least it was for me anyways)

Real: I know, that Today show thing had me aggravated all day. The segment host had said "200 pounds in a year is almost unheard of" but she never mentioned that 1200 cals for a 437 pound woman was "not advisable" :?:

As for me, I'm hanging in there. I weigh each morning because I love seeing the numbers and the +1 fluctuations don't get to me anymore like they used to. I had been +1 yesterday but today I am back to -12 pounds lost. Yayayay! Last week I was looking at clothes at Walmart and wondering how much weight I need to lose before I can buy smaller sizes. If I remember correctly, it takes alot to go down the first size and then it's faster after that. right?

CatherineM 03-18-2008 06:02 PM

Debbie-Trafficking is getting a lot of attention because of the upcoming Olympics in Vancouver. Our biggest problem here is the foreign workers being brought in because of the labor shortage. There are Eastern European men being used in construction and oil field that are practically being used like slaves. Same with Filipino women being brought in as domestics. Prostitution follows the oil workers and construction workers too.

HeatherDW-I think it was on mental illness stigma. I didn’t get to watch it. It was on a channel we don’t get because we don’t have cable. He gets in the news so regularly that I don’t get too excited about it anymore. It was kind of like the Canadian Today Show. Then we gave speeches to two sets of social workers, and finished with lunch with a politician. I’m bushed.

Sandy-I’m happy for your daughter. Getting the right coach can make all the difference.

Betty-I couldn’t believe some of the stuff I heard at this meeting. The more I heard the more I got sick and angry. 800,000 people are brought across borders worldwide each year. 50% are children, 80% are women or children. These guys made 3 times as much money last year world wide as Walmart did.

Anne-How did the birdnest come out?

Carol-My father’s family is from County Longford, Ireland, and I didn’t get any corned beef, or cabbage, or stew, or even any green beer. I usually make Colcannon, but I didn’t have the time.

I am wasted. He woke me up too early. I have enough trouble sleeping as it is. I feel like I’m sleepwalking.

Good afternoon all (well, maybe evening once I get it posted),

Not much going on here today. I might be a little scarce over the next three weeks. I have to write a math evaluation test for starting college in the fall. It doesn't affect my admission, but I figure if I do poorly then it's summer school for me. So I found a site that will let me step through some of what I'm probably supposed to know. I decided I'd try a little studying to see if I can avoid the prep course.

Carol - we got some corned beef (although just threw the two of them in the freezer). We've always just made it with a cabbage side dish. I don't think I've ever made it so I'm going to watch my mother put it together so I can get a calorie count. It's just cabbage with a tomato/onion/celery sauce, with croutons. Of course I remember putting lots of butter on it, so that's probably the part I'll skip this time. And hey, .75 is still a loss!

Rosebud - welcome! Worry about the skin later. Being healthy and living longer is definitely a better choice.

Debbie - the doves are really lazy. They won't take the nesting material, they'll likely just nest there. I put a couple of pictures into my blog post yesterday (it's easier than trying to link to Flickr). If you look at the picture on the left you can see the two chicks just sitting on a pile of plant material. The picture on the right is from another year where she's decided that the flower pot was just a ready made nest. We had four baskets hanging up and she picked the one right beside the front door. Everyone would walk past her. It didn't seem to phase here in the least. Every day I would take a watering can and talk away quietly to her while I watered the plant.

Heather_dw - telling people it's inadvisable doesn't make for good television. I know around here there is a doctor with a set of clinics offering medically supervised weight loss programs. The claim is 16 to 20 pounds a month. There's a great article about it, which covers the overall program. In 1988 someone died shortly after starting the program, so even doctor supervised programs aren't without risks. Sadly I see he has more clinics since the article was written, including a few in the US. I did a search on them using 'gain' and boy are there a lot of unhappy people. I think that's the problem with some diets, they don't teach you how to live once you're done with the weight loss.

Well, I should probably go check that the oven went on and that dinner is cooking away. Hope everyone is having a great day.

Catherine -
just saw your post as I was getting ready to save this. We'll see how it goes. Usually they will use the pile as a nest, but you never know. I think it will likely be May before they actually have their first set of chicks.

I think I am back amoung the living now. I feel alot better finally. I am not going to start back exercise till tommorow. I had stomach cramps all day long again. I called my mom and was talking with her about it and she told me to drink a coke.....so i listened to my mom and drank a reg coke. I dont know how I was so addicted to them. It really didnt taste all that great.....and it really burned as I drank it. I started burping and my stomach hasnt cramped since......yah!!! I am glad mom thought of it...but it sure sucks writing down 140 calories for a coke. I still have a few days left of antibotics so I will keep them handy incase I have more stomach issues.I do not understand how I use to drink 4+ a day.

WE are getting floods here. I got really upset today. I looked into our small back yard and saw all this mud and a man out there digging a trench across my backyard. I sent huby out to see what he was doing and why. Well my neighbor behind me basement is flooding and she had this guy dig along the property line to put an drainage tube in. It messed up my yard bad. The trench is on the line..so i cant complain but it sure has messed up my yard. PLus he only got halfway thru my yard and hit something solid and had to stop. SO I guess the water will just run to that point and then drain into the ground.....yeah right. Hubby said he would deal with it first time we have a lake in our back yard. He felt sorry for the little guy digging in the pouring rain to satify an old lady. All the neighbors have tried to explain that with old houses the basements dont always stay dry.

I just got finished filling up easter eggs to hide for my little ones i keep on friday. I was hoping to have it in the backyard....not now!! Cant you just picture a 24 month old and 23 month old and a 21 month old in all that mud!!!!!

I am thinking of making an EAster basket for my grandbaby-to-be. I have a monkey to go in the middle and thought about putting socks and bibs in it...and maybe a rattle or too. The baby isnt due till oct. I have always done all my kids a basket and told my son he wont get one this year because he is married but it thought it might be a nice suprise to have baby one.

Well have a great night everyone
debi

Hi everyone,

I had a long post with personals to all of you typed this morning, and my computer crashed just as I was finishing it up! Ugh....

I've had a few good OP days, and feel calmer about my eating. Hopefully I'm back in the groove. I keep thinking about the Spring clothes I bought as an incentive which do.not.fit. I thought by now they would easily fit. Got to get cracking!

Angie: I am thrilled to read a positive report from you. Woo Hoo on the 5 lbs. lost!

Carol: I am waiting to bring out the party hats and horns for when you are under 300, so hurry up and get there!

Heatherdw: You know, sometimes it's hard for me to watch others race on by with their weight loss, but 1200 calories for a woman of that size, not medically supervised, is not healthy at all. I wonder how much difficulty she will have keeping the weight off. My goal has always been to keep my calories as high as possible because I am concerned about keeping my metabolism up. It would have been better if the Today Show only featured those who took off the weight in a healthy way and a way that others might be able to follow/learn from. But I guess 200 lbs. in a year makes good tv.

Catherine: You and Himself lead such an interesting life. You give so much to the community.

Sandy: I'm happy that this softball season is looking bright. It's great to think about Spring activities, isnt' it!

Rosebud: Welcome!

Betty: Welcome!

Have a good night, everyone.

Debi - I used to drink gingerale to settle a bad stomach. It didn't seem to make a difference whether it was regular or sugar free. A friend got me on to ginger capsules a while back. They're really just powdered ginger root in a capsule, but easier to swallow than without it! My mother chews candied ginger to settle her stomach, but it's quite hot (if it's not, then it's got too much sugar).

debi - I live in Western KY too! Owensboro specifically and am from Paducah. where are you? Right now i'm just watching what i eat and going to the gym. i'm thinking about joining TOPS. i think i'll try it out this week and see. Thanks! plus you gotta keep up the Easter baskets! my husband and I still get them :) We are getting a lot of rain too, Evansville has gotten over 4 inches and a lot of schools are on a delay for tomorrow b/c of it. that's so crazy!

Debbie - thank you for the encouragement. i needed that.

heather - thanks for the encouragement. i think i'll try to make some mini goals. although i thought 100 lbs in a year was a mini goal! lol

Real - you are right. i was having a pity party. i'm good today. although i need to get on track with my food.

Today was better but not my best. I made it to the gym and had a salad from subway for dinner. I'm really hoping to make it to that TOPS meeting Thursday. Ya'll have a good Wednesday!

Battle-I’m actually a very boring housewife. Since I don’t have a real job, I putter to keep myself occupied. I have a really short attention span.

Hello my Peeps!

Babybear, I get almond milk at my grocery store. Yogart and cottage cheese and most all cheeses (except soft white) have the lactose already converted in them, so those are safe to eat. Ice cream will get ya, however!

Debimitch, I'm so glad you are feeling better. That flu has sent so many ppl to the hospital. There is an old remedy called Coke Syrup that settles your tummy too (so you don't have to buy cokes). Gingerale does the same thing (as was also pointed out).

Battle, I'm glad you are calmer these days about eating! Hang in there girl!! We both respond poorly to stress in our lives.

Hugs and Luv to EVERYONE.. even if I didn't mention you specificially. You all are special (and not just short bus special :D )

Luv,
Ratkity

Well just popped in to say hi before work! I worked out on sunday.....didn't do a thing yesterday but drive my daughter around to not 1 not 2 but 3 seperate events during her school day!!! I took 1/2 day to cart her around! But her two of the chorus groups from her school (she is in both) qualified for STATE!!! so I guess it is worth it! She also did well at the Foreign language Festival, we wont know that result till later this week. She practically needed to be in two places at once so mom to the rescue...the bus took her to the community college.....but wouldn't be returning to the school till after the bus would leave with the chorus group to go to the festival on the army base LOL so I picked her and a friend up & delivered them to the chorus one......then she had yet another activity at the school so drove her there after she finished singing! LOL I told her I was done for the day.....she found a ride home after that activity! LOL

****wonder how many calories I burned sleeping during the other schools performances?*** LOL

both Dh & I are kinda discouraged with our blasted scale! I will have to look into batteries.....this am it said I gained 3lbs.......and dh gained too....we havn't been off target on our calories so only explanation is the batteries.....oh well....we will pull through!

talk to you all later
Bernice
