300+ Weekly Thread #1141

:welcome:
We are a group of individuals who weigh or have weighed 300+, or near there. This group was formed to provide a place for others like us to find support and hope. We are aware of the distinct problems that come with weighing over 300 lbs.

We want to invite everyone (roosters as well as chicks!) to join us in our journey. We share laughter and tears, heartaches and fears ... joys and celebrations. We also share what works for us and what doesn't.

We know the thread can move very quickly, and that people often make "personal" remarks and keep a number of conversations going. Please feel free to contribute even if you can't make personal comments all the time.

Finally, we also have several extra threads going on simutaneously such as Monthly Challenges, Weekly Weigh-ins, Recipes, Bios, Photos, Exercise, Info for Getting Started and more. Many of these threads are stickied at the top of the page. Please feel free to check them all out.

We have found this thread to be more than just a support group... we have found it to become a home. We invite you to join us.

I know you'll all agree that we are really thankful for the free services here at 3FC. The sisters offer all of this support and information with no charges to us. There are a couple of ways though that we can help out.

If you are thinking about buying anything at Amazon, why not help out 3FC at the same time? You can do this by clicking on the button for the Amazon "store" in the upper right hand corner of the screen on the PURPLE tool bar. A portion of your purchase price will be given to 3FC by Amazon. It doesn't increase your price at all, but it does help out 3FC. You can use any of the Amazon.com links that you see on the site in order to help contribute to the site.

Also, BTW, in case you didn't know it, you can view the message boards "ad free" for a minimal charge. I think it's $15 for 6 months. A very small investment to be rid of the annoying ads and make your pages load quicker.

There have been some concerns expressed by the powers that be about copyright infringement. So please, if you are directly quoting someone else or printing an article in whole or in part, please give credit where credit is due!!!

Hi All,

I'll post a longer post tonight, I haven't got time now. But I just wanted to let you all know that after my first week back OP I lost 5 lbs :cp: I am pretty darn happy about that, now only if hubby who hasn't exercised at all, has eaten twice as much as me and even drunk a few alcoholic drinks hadn't lost 3 lbs too I would be doubly happy  Why is it that my giving my all gives me a 5 lbs loss, and hubby giving very little loses 3 lbs. It's just not right. It's a good job I love him to bits and want him to lose some weight too or I might just throw something at him ;)

Be back later,

Hugs,

Ammi :chicken:

brandnewme 01-14-2008 09:19 AM

Good mornin' everyone. Just wanted to check in quickly. I have a nasty cold that I think has turned into strep. Am waiting to see if I can get in to the doctor today.

Weight-wise, I don't know if anything has changed as I haven't weighed. But food-wise, I am doing fantastic. I have gone over my calories a few days, but my overall average is great and once I start feeling better, I'll get back to exercising and things will be right on track. I have noticed small body changes, so whether the scale reflects it or not, I know that eventually I will start seeing some weight drop.

Hope everyone is doing well. You're all in my thoughts!

toofatforu 01-14-2008 09:35 AM

ammi you know Daren has lost his weight playing the x-box lol!

toofatforu 01-14-2008 09:36 AM

after having a not so great weekend i woke up determined not to undermine myself and to eat right and exercise ! still working out on the gazelle a few times a day i hope to jump back on the exercise board soon!

dogpal 01-14-2008 10:13 AM

Nancy: feel better soon.

Catherine: Oh how you can tell a tale! I was trying so hard to imagine an alligator in your bathtub. lol.

Colleen: have a great week

Debbie: Good luck on tomorrow's weigh in. I will be rooting for you.

Carrie: I like what you posted. It is all about commitment for sure.

Carol: I measure once a month and it does help to see the inches go too.

Ammi: Whoo Hoo. Congrats on your -5. You are off to a wonderful new start! Hugs.

Brandnewme: I love your avatar photo. You look so happy. Great job with the food.

Patti: Come on girl. You can do it. Get back on the Gazelle.

Well, I'm off to work now. Hope everyone has a great op, water drinkin, butt movin day.

Blessings,
Annie

toofatforu 01-14-2008 11:50 AM

dogpal i am sure working on it thats for sure!

kayleystar 01-14-2008 12:47 PM

Ammi – Men can lose weight so much easier than women, and it’s SO frustrating!! Andrew can eat an entire gallon of ice cream, and a pizza, and STILL be lighter in the morning!

Brandnewme – FEEL BETTER SOON!!!

Good afternoon, everyone! Last night, a friend & I went bowling, because there’s a bowling alley near me that lets ladies bowl free on Sunday nights. I forgot how much of a workout that can be! lol

I’m about ready to go exercise. Trying to figure out if I’m going to do dance or walking….hmmm….

CatherineM 01-14-2008 03:27 PM

We had a little plumbing problem last night. About a quart of water mysterious appeared on our kitchen floor. The man upstairs is in China, and his sink overflowed. We had to have the Chinese family across the hall call him in China and have him call his friends here who have his keys. A bit of work with bucket, plunger and snake later, the culprit was dealt with. He had been pouring old tea leaves down the sink, and it flow okay if slow while they were kept wet, but with him gone they dried into a concrete mess that evidenced itself when the man on the third floor washed his dished. The rinse water coming all at once backed up into the second floor sink which overflowed finding it's way to our floor. I do feel like a frat house mom at the UN sometimes. At least it wasn't sewage. I'm just glad we could get to it before he came home in April to a ruined floor and carpets. Himself, who is fairly inexperience in the mechanical arts, freaked out thinking that Noah's flood was coming. He was about to call the fire department. Calming him down was the hardest part of the operation. It was about a quart of water total. I didn't even bother with the mop, just a couple of old towels did the trick. The apartment now smells a bit like green tea, but again that's better than sewage would have smelt. In Florida, I'd be worried about mold, etc. It is so high and dry here that the towels were dry by morning. It dripped down and came out behind a base board, so I removed that this morning, and it was already dry behind it too. I'll leave it off for a few days just to make sure everything dries completely. At least I won't have to deal with a water stain on the ceiling to seal and repaint. Mr. Chen wanted to pay us for our time. People have forgotten what being good neighbors is all about. We could have screamed and had a plumber come out on a Sunday night (why do plumbing emergencies always happen on the weekends), and stuck him with a big bill for the whole thing, but it was such an easy thing really. My dad used to say that you shouldn't let people try to buy back the good feelings you get from helping someone out. We could let him pay us, but then we couldn't keep the good karma.

FitGirlForLife 01-14-2008 04:46 PM

Hello Ladies.

A lot happens when you miss a week with this group!

I missed last week because I was in FL taking care of my nephews while my 4-month-old niece had open heart surgery. She came through the surgery exceptionally well...and is already home! I am awed by those surgeons who have perfected this surgery and have the skill to perform it.

I went to FL with the intention of keeping up with my FitDay journal and eating healthily. The reality: I succumbed to the temptations of "travel eating." I've decided to enter a state of healthy denial and avoid the scale until Friday, my normal weigh-in day.

I've really got to get back on the right track.

NotTheCheat 01-14-2008 04:53 PM

Well, I guess I will start out with the new thread and just catch up here with personals. I will try and do better to keep up!

Ammi – Congratulations on being down 5 – that is fantastic! Are you feeling like you are able to easily get back into the swing of things or has it been difficult?

BrandNewMe – That’s great that you are feeling so positive food wise.

Patti – Good for you picking yourself up and getting right back on track!

Annie – It is so great that you are enjoying your new job so much.

Kayley – Your new avatar is super cute! I like the lighter hair color.

Catherine – It sounds like you averted what could have been a major disaster! I agree with you about the karma.

I had my gym bag packed and ready to go tonight. My brain is saying yes and my body is saying no, it needs one more day of rest. I guess I need to let my body win this fight. I would hate to push myself too soon and then be worse off in the long run. I feel bad missing it, but what can I do.

We were supposed to get a bunch of snow today and then got almost nothing. I am both relieved and disappointed when that happens.

Moosegirl 01-14-2008 05:33 PM

Hello thought I would pop along and say hello to you all, it seems the thread for me! I am over 300lbs and have been for a long time; I am 44lbs down but have a way to go and another 14lbs to shift till I see the two hundreds. It’s taken me so long to finally kick start my diet and I am officially at the lowest I have been in a number of years – at least 9 years!

I look forward to getting to know you!

going to lose 200 01-14-2008 05:35 PM

Nancy~ That better not happen here. I am SO planning a storm day tomorrow *L*

AmmiUK 01-14-2008 06:10 PM

Hello All,

Here I am again as promised. I’ve had another good OP day today, and I had a great half an hour work out on my Gazelle for the first time in ages. I really enjoyed it but I just hope my thighs don’t ache too much tomorrow lol. My monitor on the Gazelle looked like it needed new batteries, so I changed them, now the thing doesn’t work at all! Yep I made sure I put them in the right way lol. So now I have to work out and watch the clock, not the monitor. Bummer!! Before the monitor died I noticed that I had done 521 miles on it. Pretty cool huh?

Catherine – thanks so much for explaining about the rabbit, you’ll note that a lot of people DID understand what you meant. I guess I didn’t and Sharon too because we are in the UK? How are you feeling?

What did the doc have to say when you went to see him? I’m sorry ‘he’ spoke to your doctor before you went in to see him. I think your revenge made him sorry

Johnnie – I look forward to getting to know you better too. It’s nice to hear that I was missed while I was AWOL getting fatter :dizzy:

:congrat: on your 9 lb loss, that is really wonderful!! Averaging 10 lbs a month is a great rate to be losing weight, keep up the brilliant work

Nancy – sorry to hear you were feeling unwell before the weekend. I hope you are feeling much better now and aren’t retaining water anymore.

Amazingly enough I have found getting back on track easy this time, much easier than any time I tried it last year. I think the shock of how much weight I gained back really has helped me to get my motivation back. I swore to myself that when I lost the weight, especially when I got to 100 lbs lost I would never gain back any lbs. I let myself down big style, and that is helping me stay on track now. No more letting myself down!!

Kayley - :woohoo: on getting the job, that is wonderful news. I hope you will really enjoy working there. When do you start?

Great news too on your weight loss, I’m sorry it wasn’t what you hoped it would be, but I think it’s wonderful to lose weight no matter how much it is :cp:

Oh yes men are really frustrating when it comes to what they can eat. Daren had a huge pizza on the weekend and I only had a little WW one, yet he still lost 3 lbs  It’s just wrong  Oh well just another thing us women have to bear when it comes to men

By the way I love your new avatar picture, you look really lovely in it.

Heather – I know what you mean about getting in the car being the biggest battle sometimes when it comes to going to the gym. I don’t have a car lol, but know that sometimes my biggest battle when it comes to exercising is actually getting dressed to do it. Once I am dressed and the DVD is in the player I am more than happy to get on with it. Funny people aren’t we

BattleAx – good for you for calling your friend on trying to get you to eat that last piece of pizza no matter how many times you told her you didn’t want it. Some people really are terrible it comes to diet sabotage.

That’s lovely that the guy you are sweet on complimented you on your weight loss. It sure has taken a long time for people to start noticing hasn’t it? I bet if feels great to finally be complimented. This guy you are sweet on, I can understand you wanting to keep professional, will you two always be co-workers??

Colneen – thanks so much for the welcome back. I think you all got on wonderfully well without me, but it was lovely of you to say that the place would be lost without me  It is lovely to be back.

:cheer: on your 7 lbs lost, you must be really pleased with that :cp:

Annie – sorry I haven’t emailed yet, I promise to write as soon as I can  Thank you for your encouragement and enthusiasm about my weight loss. It is very good to be back in control.

Oh rats about being salaried so that you can’t earn extra money from all the over time you have been doing. It’s true that at least it’s beneficial on the days when you get to go home early and don’t have to worry about losing any wages :cp:

Thank you for sharing your story about the jeans. It must have been so awful for you the day of the funeral, though I’m sorry, I had to giggle at the picture you portrayed of yourself, especially the walking like Frankenstein’s monster lol. Anyway, :woohoo: on getting into the size 26’s now. Oh yes it’s so much nicer moving down into sizes than it was moving up into them in the past. With the way you are going, you’ll be too small for those 26’s before long

Xena – how wonderful you are saying I am still an inspiration, you definitely made me smile, :thanks:

Sorry that you didn’t stick strictly OP last week, but at least you carried on with your exercise so that’s good. When I eat what I shouldn’t I normally say blow the exercise too. I won’t do that anymore, and YOU can be my inspiration. I shall remember that you exercise even when you eat more than you should do, and I will do the same!!

I’m glad that you are much happier with your professors this year, it would have been awful if you had to transfer schools.

Carol – now that’s what I call determination, making that 400 mile round trip to avoid the hotel room temptations, and to be home for your yoga class! You deserve a huge :cheer: :cp: well done

Debbie – glad you liked the photos, though can’t say that I liked that one of me with the guitar  I much preferred Daren’s rocking picture

Oh yes it’s wonderful that the Sweet’s Syndrome is seemingly under control now. The test will be when my consultant takes me off my meds :crossed:

Sorry to hear that you are suffering so much with your cold, I hope you will be feeling better soon.

Angie – sounds like you had a lovely indulgent day yesterday. Don’t feel bad about it, we all need those kind of days. You are just brilliant deciding to get straight back on track, how’s it going? Last year I had too many days ‘off’ but could not manage to get back on track. Not until now anyway :D

Sharon – forgot to say when we chatted today :goodluck: with the job hunt? Have you gone to the job centre to look or are you just looking online or what?

Guess what I did tonight, remember I said I was doing food with potato waffles for tea? Well for some reason I only put 6 in the oven instead of 8. So poor Daren and I only had one each instead of two   Never mind, it left me enough spare points to have a packet of crisps

Meg – sorry you are having a small case of the blues. I hope you will be feeling much happier soon

Brenda - how’s that cleaning coming along? It makes for great exercise :D

Cyn - I think we all know how you feel about being fed up of having to sit on the side lines watching everybody else having the fun. It’s horrible, but it won’t be forever dear friend, you will soon be joining in on all the fun. You are SO determined now, and although it’s awful knowing how unhappy you were not being able to skate, and then having that nasty fall, but it all helped you to get motivated, so something good came of it

Kimmie – I am glad that the surgery went well on your baby niece. It is amazing isn’t it just what surgeons are capable of these days. I hope your niece has a speedy recovery.

As for you not being able to stick on your diet, I totally agree with you just putting it behind you and avoiding the scale until Friday. I bet you’ll do wonders losing any lbs you may have gained while you were away :crossed:

Moosegirl – hello and :wel3fc: Where in the UK are you? I’m in Swansea, South Wales. There aren’t many of us here in the UK, me, Sharon (voodoo lady) and Emily are the only ones I can think of. It’s nice to have somebody else on the same time zone :D

Good news that you are the lightest now you have been in 9 years, onwards and downwards

Ok well time for me to go watch a bit of TV. Take care all and I’ll ‘see you’ all tomorrow.

Hugs,

Ammi :chicken:

sandybar 01-14-2008 07:26 PM

HI everyone,
Well overtime is still going on at work so this is a quickie too so I don't fall too far behind in my chores.
I haven't been a really good girl, but I'm working on it. I was down 1.?? this week. Almost 2 pounds plus it's tom.
I'll try to get back on schedule in all ways asap.
hugs,

BattleAx 01-14-2008 07:54 PM

Hi everyone,

Wow, it took 2 days for my body to process the extreme fondue night. I do not feel guilty at all for overindulging on the fondue, but the price paid was on the high side. I felt sluggish yesterday, but still exercised anyway.

Today I'm doing fine. Tonight is a banquet dinner and I don't currently feel in the danger zone for managing it. I think I should be ok staying OP tonight.

I bought a few pairs of incentive pants this weekend at a clearance sale. I found 2 pairs of very nice size 20 pants, one at $5 and one at $20. I bought another pair in size 18 for $7. The size 20s still seem a ways off, and the 18s a pipe dream, but I thought that about the size I'm in now, and managed to get here, so I'm optimistic that I'll be wearing them before too long. No bets on when that will be.

-----
Ammi, nice to see you back regularly and doing well OP. Your gazelle missed you. Congrats on the 5 lb. loss. You are on track and will see results.

About the client I have a crush on, he will not be a client forever. I keep wondering when our professional relationship will end, because he's done most of the work he came here to do. Actually he is one of my MAJOR success stories.

I don't know if he has any romantic feelings for me, but somehow I doubt it. He likes me, though, that is clear enough. We have a lot in common. But it's hard with the type of client/professional roles we've been in to equalize things and not get into some weird psychological territory. I'm willing to try hehehe once he's not a client, but as I said, I have no idea how he feels other than he seems to like me as a person.

Brandnew: I cannot wait to hear your good news. I am so happy that you are doing well with your eating.

Toofat: Good job. Get right back into exercise. We all slip up.

Moosegirl: Welcome. It is exciting to be near that very important threshold of 300#s. It was an important milestone for me.

Kayley: Bowling is fun! Enjoy today's exercise, too.

Catherine: You ARE a terrific neighbor. Mr. Chen is a lucky man, and I hope he has learned his lesson about the tea leaves.

Fitgirl: Sometimes avoiding the scale for a while is an ok coping technique. I've done it before, giving myself a chance to repair the damage of a bad eating period. As long as there is a plan to hop back on at some point, it can be helpful to not discourage yourself with the knowledge.

Annie: have a great day at work.

Nancy: Glad you're on the mend. You were smart not to push yourself too hard just yet.

Carol: Wow, you're handling the party circuit like a pro. Outstanding job in coming home and going to your yoga class.

Hi and hugs to everyone else.

kayleystar 01-14-2008 08:39 PM

Catherine – Glad everything was finally taken care of! All those kinds of problems always seem to happen on the weekends or over the holidays!

Nancy – Thanks! It’s almost my natural color now. :) And good for you for knowing your limit. I know that too many times I’ve pushed myself past my limit, and had to stop exercising for a week or so because of it! Bleh.

Moosegirl – Hello & WELCOME! Is there another name you’d like to go by? :)

Ammi – Bravo for getting back up on the Gazelle! And WOW! That’s a lot of miles! I hope that you are able to get the monitor working again, so you can keep counting your miles.

Sandy – Stay SANE while working all that overtime! It can be very trying.

BattleAx – Good luck at the benefit tonight, and staying OP during it! And you’ll fit into those pants before you know it! Good deals!

Debbie54 01-14-2008 09:02 PM

Catherine, all I can say is.....I'm flabberghasted..
You truly are a good neighbor. We need more people like you in the world.

Brandnewme, hope you start feelin' better.

Kayley, I love to bowl. We started a league a year ago and it really is a good workout. We aren't on a league now, but would sure like to join again. Glad you had some fun while movin' your body.

Kimmie, glad to hear the operation went well. It is amazing how those surgeons can operate on such tiny hearts.

Nancy, yes, ya gotta let the body catch up with the brain. I think you made the right choice.

Hi Moosegirl, wecome!

Today was busy so I didn't get to eat my regular meals but still kept below my calorie limit. I tend not to eat enough when I'm sick, so that's where I'm at right now. I'm going to go put on a WATP DVD now and get some exercise in.
Have a great night everyone
Debbie

p.s. Sorry I didn't get more personals in. Just don't feel like typing all that much. I'll do more tomorrow.

azcyn 01-14-2008 09:21 PM

Hi everyone...

kayley...love your new pic!!!

BattleAx...those jeans will fit you in no time

Well as for me...I went to the library on sunday as I told myself I would. I got the book that was written but Jillian Michaels from Biggest looser. Anyone read it??? Well it is excellent. I really uinderstood what she was saying. Alot of those kinds of book ar confusing with all the "garble garble". Her book make 100%.

I also got an exercise DVD!! Its the walking ones by Leslie something lol Leslie SAnsone. Anyone do those??? OMG they are great! I actually got through the whole video this moring!!

I am also journaling and keeping track of what I eat.

Well I just thought I'd share my day..thansk for listening!

dogpal 01-14-2008 09:45 PM

Kayley: Cute, cute pic for your Avatar.

Catherine: Glad all the water came out okay.

Kimmie: So happy to hear your little niece is okay.

Nancy: Rest up and get better soon.

Moosegirl: Welcome. Glad you are here.

Ammi: Wow 521 Miles on the gazelle is very impressive!

Sandy: Congrats on being down!

Battle: Nice deal on the pants.

Everyone: Hope you are all well. My tummy is bugging me right now. It is my fault for eating too fast without chewing enough. UGH. I did go walk with a friend for 1/2 hour after work tonight besides my moring workout so that was good.

Blessings,
Annie

gggirls 01-14-2008 10:15 PM

Hi Peeps

Things are moving fast around here. I do so enjoy Monday and my wonderful routine. The routine may be including a toothache - they were drilling on the roof above my head all day - I joked I wouldn't need to go to the dentist for years to come because of all of it today - come home and what happens - yep a big ole toothache. I'm gonna take some advil and sleep it away (promises).

I've been wearing my "long" dress pants - aka too big pants - tonight I thought I'd see just how big they were - off they came while still zipped and buttoned - may be time for something else to wear. I had thought of having them altered but after reading Battle's post I think I will opt for a smaller size.

Battle - thanks for the shopping suggestion. Isn't it amazing - you enjoyed the fondue but not the after effects. I'm with you it seems to take a bit to feel the new "normal" - how bad I must have felt before but didn't acknowledge it.

Kayley - love the new pic! So when do you start the job? You are a busy bee these days and staying OP to boot!

Debbie - hugs to you - feel better soon. Any luck with the vet?

Catherine - I knew green tea wasn't good for you - it turns to concrete - how's that for a reason for not liking it. Good neighbors are hard to find these days - bless you for being one.

Kimmie - so happy to hear things went well for your niece. Glad to see you back - we missed you!

Annie - you didn't chew 20 times each bite? Sorry about the tummy - rest and feel better. You are doing so well.

Nancy - I'm proud of you for listening to your body - what a distance you have come. Dance class will still be there tomorrow. Hugs my friend.

Moosegirl - welcome - this is a great group for whatever support you need - somebody has probably been there. Keep posting.

Ammi - 521 miles - just think how far you would be if you were driving a car that far - I'd be in Indianapolis - 8 hours away.

Sandy - glad to see you - I was missing you - WTG on the scale being down.

Cyn - your enthusiasm bubbles over. Isn't it great? Makes me wonder why I ever wanted anything else. I have a Leslie Sansone checked out from Netflix - for a month now and haven't done it - I may just come home from my cardio class tomorrow night and do it then - thanks for the reminder. Sorry about the falls, I am so glad you weren't hurt (physically). I know I have a fear of falling - especially on the ice. Keep up the great work!

Patti - you are loving your gazelle - what a great present it turned out to be.

Brandnewme - nice to see you. Glad you are feeling the changes.

Seems like there is still a bug biting some of you - please get plenty of rest, drink lots of fluids and pamper yourself - maybe a bubble bath with a candle would help. It always does me - I can't wait until I can fit in our bathtub - we have a little tub that DH has a tough time with - I was gonna ask for a bigger tub but instead I'll just do a littler me.

Hope all are feeling better tomorrow.

Hugs,
Carol

Moosegirl 01-15-2008 03:29 AM

AmmiUK – Thanks for the warm welcome, I am near from Bolton near Manchester! It’s nice to see some other UK people. I’ve never been much of a dieter for losing weight, a few pounds here and there but never committed to doing it seriously mainly because I didn’t want to, I’ve never been totally unhappy fat…. Decided now is the right time to lose the weight and once I set my mind on something I will achieve it so it’s all systems go for me now.

Congratulations on such a good loss already, that’s really impressive and an inspiration!

BattleAx – Thanks for the welcome, I’ve been in the 300’s for some long but am almost leaving them, here’s hoping for the first week of February at least but if I can offer support to others I will!

Kayleystar – Thanks for the welcome, the real name is Alison by the way… I did use to use this board some time back under the name of Mazarin but it’s been a long time since I was here!

Debbie54 – Thanks and well done for the 50lbs loss!

Cyn – Hi there, I too bought an exercise DVD last week, it’s such good fun to work out to but the dog gives me very strange looks!

Dogpal – Thanks, excellent weight loss so far, that is just utterly fantastic!

Carol – Hello, ahhh you mention the worse word in the world Dentist! I don’t like that place but I need to go at some point in the next few months for a check up. I often tell myself I would rather give birth that see the dentist!

I am all set for another positive day today, although it's raining awful here and as much as I WILL walk the dog outside, Alfie refuses go out, so I guess I shall have to find some other way to burn the fat today!

voodoo1 01-15-2008 04:28 AM

AHHA Moosegirl, I remember you as Mazarin, I bet Ammi does too! What plan are you following? I STILL find it confusing working in pounds alone rather than stones.
I don't have much time today, I have a migraine & have go to a creative writing class which actually started last week, had to miss it as the heating in my boys' school broke down & there was no one to look after them.
I only lost a POUND!!!! I'm not happy but I'm looking into other plans, though NOT W/W as it really doesn't seem to work for me at all. Rosemary Conley does a GI-inspired diet (Brits know who I mean) she has been awarded a CBE/MBE or something from the Queen for 'services to health/weightloss' & made a few million £ in the process!!!lol She does classses where diet AND exercise are combined as well as books & exercise dvds, she must be 50+ but has a FAB figure.
Gotta get on, sorry will do personals after I get back if my head permits me!

Morning all - it was a great weigh in this morning - -2.75 pounds gone forever. My first goal is getting close. I have to say the exercise has made a difference - like I knew it would. I am very excited to be over the 30 lb lost mark and look forward to leaving the 300 lb weight on the scale soon.

Gotta run - drink your water, move you bodies, and most of all smile today.

Carol

 GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Just lost a long post because I hit the esc button  instead of the exclamation point!!!!!!! Well, lets hope that's my "doink" for today. I allow myself one a day!

In a nutshell...went in early to work yesterday.
The car saga...had the radiator looked at on the minivan and it is fine. So the damage is only cosmetic. But Doug realized that the inspection was up in November! :faint:
The "Snowstorm 2008" was a dud. All rain.:rain:

To all of you sickies here's a  and some virtual chicken soup!!
To all the losses so far...:yay:...we are all doing "Great in 2008"!!! (See RK...I can rhyme too!! ;) )

Have a Great OP Day!! :cheer2:

texarkgal 01-15-2008 10:16 AM

Just popped by to say hi. I've been MIA the last few days battling an abscessed tooth & haven't felt up to doing anything. Antibiotics have finally kicked in and I'm feeling better today and will see the dentist later this week, but still feel really weak & drained from the pain. Hope to catch up with some personals tomorrow, but for now I'm just taking it easy.

Hope everyone is having a good OP day, drinking all your water.

CatherineM 01-15-2008 11:34 AM

I feel like I am at war with my body. I'm exhausted, and trying to keep my breakfast down. Himself wanted to know how I was feeling today, and I told him I felt like throwing up, and he cupped his hands for me. I told him not to temp me.

On a positive note, I got my leisure pass today. That means as soon as I am ambulatory enough, I get to go to the pool. One last try with the bureaucrats worked. I qualify for a free pass on my income, but my tax return didn't show it on the face because the Canadian Revenue rules put $11,000 worth of his income on my tax return. I sent a "letter." I'm a very good letter writer when the occasion arises. At the end of it, I basically put that if they denied my application, to please return my paperwork so that I could send it to our city councilman. That he was familiar with our situation, and could explain it to them if they couldn't understand it. That did the trick. It's not like the money was coming out of their pocket, but sometimes you have to give them a reason to do the right thing or get in a jam.

heather_dw 01-15-2008 01:12 PM

Aw man, I'm so depressed today. I had went from 376 in 2004 to 276 in about a year. Well, I just dusted off this old crappy scale I have and I'm 334?
I can't even believe it. I've been being good and watching calories for 2 weeks but ugh... I feel like it was all for nothing. 334?? :(:(

It's almost like starting over and it feels like it's just too much for me to do.

Debbie54 01-15-2008 03:15 PM

Cyn, you're doing marrrrrrrrrrrrrrrvalous!!! Sounds like you are really on track and raring to go. I should get that book. It seems like it really motivated you. Yes, there are several of us that do the WATP DVD's with Leslie. Matter of fact I did one last night. They are great workouts. Which ones did you get?

Annie, hope the tummy is doing better. Slow down girl, even though that food is good, you have to be careful. Good for you on the walks.

Carol, o my, the story with the vet. We called Monday and they still hadn't sent in the scrip. So we went and got Daisy's records and took them to the other vet who said we could get the prescriptions thru them. When we got there they said that they can't do it unless they see her. We told them thats not what they said on the phone. Plus we had checked our checking account and they sent the check thru that they said wouldn't go thru til Monday or Tuesday so we would have time to get money in the bank on Saturday. Well guess what, it went thru FRIDAY night. So it bounced. The vet paid for bounced check fees which was very nice of them. And they ended up giving us 1 month of pills for Daisy and then we can take her in for her blood work. So at least that is all taken care of. Money is so tight right now and then all this has to happen. Geeze!

Hi Alison, Hope your doing good OP-wise and getting some movement in. It makes a world of difference. So glad you joined us.

Sharon, YAY for the 1 pound gone forever!!

Carol, Fantastic news on the 2.75 gone!!! The way your going, you'll be outta the 300's in no time.

Donna, glad to hear the van wasn't as bad as thought. That's always a relief. The chicken soup was delish, thanks!

Johnnie, nothin worse than a sore mouth. Hope your's gets better soon

Catherine, YAY!!! You get to go to the pool. I bet that really helps you to get motivated knowing you can do something you really like and it is exercise all at the same time. I'm so happy the letter worked for you.

Heather DW, Hi and welcome. Sorry about the weight gain, but you've come to the right place to lose. We have lots of inspirational stories and tons of motivation to get you going again. Don't look at it as a weight gain, look at it as a lesson learned. You can do it again!!! I know you can. Just take baby steps and don't overwhelm yourself by trying to do too much at one time. Journal, do the plan you chose, and drink the water and move move move!!

I didn't lose and I didn't gain. I'm hoping after TOM is over, I will have a loss. I'm also changing my WI day back to Fridays. The middle of the week just doesn't get it. I did it that way cuz I started on the first, but I don't like it being my official WI. I'm doing fine, just a little sore throat but otherwise feeling normal, hah! I did a WATP DVD last night. I'm trying to change it up some. Maybe do the treadmill tonight.
We got some snow last night, so that was nice. But the sun is shining so it will all be gone soon. Darn it.
Enjoy your day!

heather_dw 01-15-2008 03:23 PM

well, I did the WATP DVD one mile. I found myself thinking "ugh, at 334 doing one mile workout isn't going to do anything for you" Especially if it only burns 100 calories

Fitday software keeps telling me I burn almost 2400 calories. I don't think that could be right. I've been trying to keep it on or under 1800 but I don't imagine that's going to be enough. My friend is doing 1300-1500 but she is significantly smaller than me too

BattleAx 01-15-2008 03:27 PM

Hi Peeps,

I did well at my banquet last night, and started the day off well today. I keep eyeing my new size 20 pants and fantasizing about fitting into and wearing them. Hopefully, next month or the month after, or sometime in the not too distant future, I will try them on and they will look great.
-----

Debbie: How are you feeling today? Did you manage to do the WATP last night?

Moosegirl: If your dog doesn't cooperate, there's still something you can do to move a bit. I'm sure you'll figure something out!

Cyn: The WATP with Leslie Sansone is the only DVD I can follow, aside from my pilates workout. I am as uncoordinated as they come, and I can keep up with Leslie. It is a great series of videos. I have the 2 mile one.

Annie: How's the stomach today? Good job walking 30 minutes on top of your workout. wow.

Carol: Congrats to you on the loss! You're doing great. I highly recommend buying a few new clothes in smaller sizes. There are clearance sales everywhere now, and you can practically steal some of the clothes they're selling! It is a great feeling to slip into a smaller size. At this time of year you can buy new clothes for the same price you'd find them in thrift stores.

Donna: Phew, on the minivan. At least the damage is only cosmetic. Don't you hate losing posts! I have many times.

Sharon: I hope your migraine goes away quickly. I cannot function at all when I have one.

A 1 lb loss is a 1 lb loss! Congrats on that.

Texark: Ow! The pain from an abscessed tooth is terrible. Glad you're coming out of the worst of it, and are seeing a dentist later in the week.

Catherine: Good for you, fighting for the leisure pass. Enjoy using it. You are a force to be reckoned with.

Heather dw: Welcome. You are still down from your high, and you can get back down to where you were. You did it once, and you can do it again.

Have a great day, everyone.

Everyone is different, but I would think that's probably a valid number. Fitday tells me I burn 2700 or so. Since Dec. 7th I've averaged just over 1800 calories a day (and that includes two truly high days). I've only really been serious about the exercising for the last week and a bit... and I'm losing weight on that.

Let's put it this way - you're better off doing the mile, instead of not doing it. Right? Every step in the right direction is a good step.

heather_dw 01-15-2008 05:13 PM

Hmm,.. really? If that's the case, I've been under for the last 2 weeks. I've been trying to keep it under 1900 and the day before yesterday I hit right on 1900 (oops) but 1650-1800 the rest of the days. Hubby pointed out that for all I know, I could have been 340 or even 345 2 weeks ago so for all I know, I already lost some. He's trying to be encouraging :D

AmmiUK 01-15-2008 05:33 PM

Hello All,

I can definitely tell I am back on track big time now. Last year every time I tried to stay on track I normally fell at the first sign of temptation. If I had to go out and would be out during lunch I would tell myself it was OK to eat out as long as I was good the next day. Chances are I wouldn’t be good the next day. Today I was out at lunch time, I was really hungry so I suggested to hubby that we go get a cup of coffee, which we did. He decided to have a fried sausage baguette, but as there was nothing really OP in the café, I didn’t have anything except coffee!! You watch at our next WI, he’ll still lose weight, grrrrr, So anyway I didn’t give in to temptation, I just bought a packet of low fat Special K snacks to nibble on and was fine until I got home. So YAY me :cp:

Sandy – well considering you haven’t been a ‘good girl’ you have still done well to lose nearly 2 lbs :cheer: especially with TOM present

I hope you have some free time soon, I’m missing your emails

BattleAx – that’s a great idea to buy the incentive pants. I look forward to hearing when you fit into each new size!

I don’t know about the Gazelle missing me, I certainly missed it though, and yay, no sore thighs today. Unfortunately I didn’t have chance to exercise today, but tomorrow I’m aiming to do my new DVD that goes for 50 minutes, so that will make up for today :D

As for the client, have you ever wondered if he’s trying as hard as you to remain totally professional? Maybe you’ll be pleasantly surprised when he’s no longer a client  Yep I admit it, I’m a terrible romantic :D

Kayley – looks like the Gazelle monitor has bitten the dust good and proper  So I guess 521 miles was all it was destined to record, awwww.

Debbie – sorry you are still feeling poorly, I am glad you are trying to keep eating though, don’t want the old metabolism to slow down  Did you manage working out OK, which WATP DVD did you do?

Cyn – no I haven’t read the book you mentioned, I am glad you enjoyed it though and that it made total sense for you.

I use the WATP DVDs and I love them. They really can make me work up a sweat but I never feel like I can’t do them. They are a great series.

Annie – sorry to hear you had a bad tummy. Remember what you have told Angela, chew chew chew :D How much food do you get to eat now?

Glad to hear you are getting your exercise done, I feel a great weight loss and entrance into TwoTown coming for you any second now

Yes it does sound impressive doesn’t it 521 miles on the Gazelle. It’s such a shame that the monitor is broken now so I can’t add on more miles.

Carol – I’m not sure but hubby reckons if I went 521 miles I could get from here to London and back :D Cool thought.

:woohoo: on your near 3 lbs loss :cp: and getting past 30 lbs gone :cheer: You are so close to your first goal, just 2 more lbs to go!!

How is your toothache now? Do you think a trip to the dentist might be in order? I think I’m due for a check up in a few months, ugh!

Moosegirl – Alison, welcome back!!! Yes I remember you too, how lovely to see you here again. I don’t know if you told us last time where you were from, though I do remember once you slipped on ice and hurt your arm. Did it heal OK in the end?

So you are from Bolton, where good old Vernon Kay is from, gotta love his accent, is yours like that? My hubby is from Burton on Trent, and he sounds quite similar to Vernon.

Sharon – I didn’t know that Rosemary had been given a CBE, when did she get that? She certainly has earned it. If I had her kind of money now I’d love to start up a free weight loss group, I am sure that a lot more people would go to classes if they didn’t have to deal with the expense

Donna – woops, who’s the fool who put the esc so close to the exclamation mark anyway  Seriously, for one reason or another I am sure we have all lost long posts before we’ve had chance to get them on the board, and yep it’s VERY annoying  Sorry that you lost your post!

Johnnie – I’m so sorry to hear that you’ve been suffering with a tooth abscess, I know just how very painful they are. I had one a couple of years back that no amount of antibiotics would help. In the end I had to have the tooth pulled, and boy oh boy did it hurt!!! I am happy to hear that antibiotics have helped you, and hope your trip to the dentist later this week won’t be bad

Catherine
– aww what a lovely guy you have there, putting his hands out for you to be sick in. What a shock he would have had if you had taken him up on the offer  Seriously though, I’m sorry you are feeling so unwell.

Heather D – I really really know how you are feeling. Gaining back weight after you’ve lost so much IS depressing. I did that myself just last year. In 2006 and up until April last year I lost 112 lbs, then the diet became harder and harder to stick to and I started being off the diet more than on it, and when I weighed on the 6th of this month I had gained 33 lbs! It wasn’t a shock because I knew I was going to gain, but I was still so angry to have let myself gain weight. So I am back on track now and this time I am DETERMINED that I won’t let myself down like that again. I’m going to get to goal and stay there, or at least within a few lbs of it

As for the 1 mile WATP DVD, it may not feel like you are doing much to help your weight loss, but you are, and you are getting fitter as well! When I started exercising again after not doing any for months I couldn’t believe just how hard it was again. I was doing so much more, like the 3 mile WATP months ago, and was managing well. This week doing just the 2 mile WATP nearly killed me. I look forward to getting fit again

Good for you for getting back on track, don’t be disheartened, you know you can lose the weight, and you WILL lose it again. Only this time, like me, you won’t be gaining it back again

Anne - Hi, I don’t think I’ve said hello before and welcomed you. So a belated :welcome: from me  You’re doing great with the weight loss :cp:

Patti – I can’t believe I didn’t comment on what you said about Daren losing weight because of the 360  You know you might have something there!!! Must be all that heart pumping action that he has when he’s fighting the enemy

How’s the Gazelle, are you still enjoying it?

OK well I need to go have a shower now before bed. I am not sure if I’ll get chance to post tomorrow because I might be going out in the day, and in the night Daren and I are actually going to have a NO PC or GAMES night, :woohoo: I get to spend time with my hubby :D :D :D

Hugs,

Ammi :chicken:

RealCdn 01-15-2008 06:18 PM

Ammi - I find large threads just a touch intimidating, but I'll get used to them. I actually introduced myself in the getting fit after 40 thread, but I should probably repeat what I put there...

A really fast bit about me (if anyone wants the entire sordid story I put it in a blog post). I started losing weight in February 2004, and did well until the summer of 2005. I ended up in the hospital which side-tracked me completely. The basics were I was eating too little, working out too hard, and not sleeping enough. It threw me off for the next few months and I never really got back on track. This summer (by my own choice) I was unemployed and the weight crept up again.

In fact it crept up enough that I was off the scale that stopped at 330 and I was in denial about how much. So, I bought a new scale in December and freaked out - almost 360. Since I'm unemployed I have the time to cook good meals (although I actually always have, I freeze), and spend time exercising. It's not settled yet, but there's a chance I may go back to school in Sept. It's complicated, but until I know for sure I'm only interested in a job in my field (quality engineering in the automotive biz). I've done clerical in the past but once I go back to it I can pretty much kiss off a decent quality job). So, until I know about school I'm looking for work and not working. Once I know about school I might look for a temp job. So, this means I have no excuses for not eating well and exercising!

My only real problem about posting is that I'm, by nature, a lurker. This is something I'm going to try very hard to fix, as I know that's also part of the problem. I've seen how supportive people can be here, and I know I need that support. It was losing it (when changing jobs) that started the slow decline of good habits, and the slow increase of weight.

So that's me, with some of my flaws revealed - more to come later!

TheStorySoFar 01-15-2008 07:06 PM

Hi All~

I hope evryone is doing well. :) I am doing great in spite of hurting my back this morning while at my WLSurgeon's office. :/ I bent the wrong way when I was putting on my darned shoes. I don't think this one is as bad as I have done in the past, but time will tell. I have to go to see my PCP on Thursday anyway, so I will bring it up when I go.

Anyway, I had my official weigh-in/follow-up with my surgeon and I am down 13lbs. total from when I saw him last time which was after Thanksgiving. :carrot: I was so tickled with that. My scale was off by 4lbs. yet again (showed me at 340lbs.), so I supposed when I weigh myself on it from now on, I will take that 4 exta lbs. off the total there. :/ I don't have to go back and see him for three months this time, so I am hoping that by the time that rolls around I will be well out of the 320s on my way to being out of the 300s. :)

I hope you are all doing well and if not, as always, you are in my prayers.

TOM decided to rear it's head today. Even though it did just 3 weeks ago! :( I've read & caught up with you all, but a bit busy for personals right now. Perhaps later. :)

going to lose 200 01-15-2008 07:39 PM

hey there everyone

the storm here was the pits too. Had work although I did come home early since I had a toothache and my Advil was at home. Other than that, I weigh in tomorrow. Kinda scared cause I think I actually GAINED this week. Its TOM too but man, first week and I GAIN?? I am overfilling with water today so I may be mistaken tomorrow... cross your fingers for me!!

Anne~ What part of Ontario are you from?? I have relatives all over and we drive up to Ottawa at least once a year to visit friends.

ok... I have to run. Biggest Loser is on shortly and I need to prepare myself. Lots of water, berries for snack and a box of tissues :)

RealCdn 01-15-2008 07:47 PM

Brenda - Burlington, Ontario. We're about halfway between Toronto and the Niagara region. We might be closer to Toronto, but with traffic it feels the other way around. I did work terms in Ottawa many years ago, however, I haven't been to P.E.I. for at least 25 years.

gggirls 01-15-2008 09:24 PM

Hi Peeps - just a quick fly by to see how everyone is. Are toothaches contagious - seems to be rampant here. Hope everyone feels better real soon. I had a great workout tonight!!!!! Next week it will be personal training sessions.

Hugs to you all,
Carol
