Smile 300+ Weekly Thread #1130

We are a group of individuals who weigh or have weighed 300+, or near there. This group was formed to provide a place for others like us to find support and hope. We are aware of the distinct problems that come with weighing over 300 lbs.

We want to invite everyone (roosters as well as chicks!) to join us in our journey. We share laughter and tears, heartaches and fears ... joys and celebrations. We also share what works for us and what doesn't.

We know the thread can move very quickly, and that people often make "personal" remarks and keep a number of conversations going. Please feel free to contribute even if you can't make personal comments all the time.

Finally, we also have several extra threads going on simutaneously such as Monthly Challenges, Weekly Weigh-ins, Recipes, Bios, Photos, Exercise, Info for Getting Started and more. Many of these threads are stickied at the top of the page. Please feel free to check them all out.

We have found this thread to be more than just a support group... we have found it to become a home. We invite you to join us.

I know you'll all agree that we are really thankful for the free services here at 3FC. The sisters offer all of this support and information with no charges to us. There are a couple of ways though that we can help out.

If you are thinking about buying anything at Amazon, why not help out 3FC at the same time? You can do this by clicking on the button for the Amazon "store" in the upper right hand corner of the screen on the PURPLE tool bar. A portion of your purchase price will be given to 3FC by Amazon. It doesn't increase your price at all, but it does help out 3FC. You can use any of the Amazon.com links that you see on the site in order to help contribute to the site.

Also, BTW, in case you didn't know it, you can view the message boards "ad free" for a minimal charge. I think it's $15 for 6 months. A very small investment to be rid of the annoying ads and make your pages load quicker.

There have been some concerns expressed by the powers that be about copyright infringement. So please, if you are directly quoting someone else or printing an article in whole or in part, please give credit where credit is due!!!

To all you Red Sox fans-Congratulations. If nothing else, I’m pretty sure it will lead to a blood bath in the Bronx this off season.

Battle-I can so relate to needing to go someplace fancy, and worrying about having something to wear. I know you are feeling such relief to have something you are comfortable with wearing.

Toofat-Having respiratory stuff is such a drag. I was sick so long this time, that I’m actually having to get used to the idea that I’m feeling better. Get well too.

LeesaKay-My mom used to say there is always room for one more at the table. Just don’t feel overwhelmed when we get too chatty. Post what you can, try to read everyday, and keep coming back. That’s the most important thing. You can’t fail unless you give up. As long as you keep dusting yourself off, and getting back up, you’re a winner.

After a week like I’ve had, the increased activity and calories, my metabolism goes up big time. Unfortunately that means my appetite is raging now too. I’m going to try to go down gradual this time so I don’t loose the metabolism “buzz” and stall it. Now I’m off to catch up on school work. Everyone have a great week.

Hi gals and guy!
Thanks to those who looked at my pics. And it feels so good to be BELOW 300 now. The challenge is to keep it going that way now and behave myself.

YaaY! To all Red Sox fans, on being world series champs!!

Battle, wonderful news on being able to get into that dress!!! I bet you are going to look just beautiful. I have to find something nice to wear to my hubbys Christmas dinner at work. I usually get a pair of nice slacks and a nice top. I want to wait til it gets closer though so WHEN I lose more weight, I can find the appropriate size.

Ratkity, Don't ya just hate when them buggers climb up where they aren't suppose to? Glad you got some new ones and I hope you picked out some pretty ones.

Peggy, you and Emmit look so nice! I love the avatars you guys pick!!

TFFU, glad to hear the brochitis is clearing up. Keep getting better!

LeesaKay, Hi and You can come on here and post anything you want to. Sometimes we write encouraging words to others, tell of our success, or just want to rant and rave about something and we are all here with an open heart and ears to listen. It's a great bunch of ladies and John, and I don't know if I would of made it this far without them.

Catherine, O doncha just hate when the exercise increases the appetite? I think that is why I keep quitting exercise but in the long run I know it is so beneficial. I hope your new way helps.

Have a great OP day!!

Hello everyone! I've had a busy morning and only getting here now!

I posted a new exercise thread for November! For those of you who don't know, we have set a goal to exercise 200,000 minutes this year. Our goal IS within reach, but we can still use everyone's help to get there! All you have to do is track the number of minutes of exercise you do and record it. Many of us also set goals, but that's not required. Just move it and shake it and record it!!!!!

Hi everyone,

The scale is being stubborn. I'm up 1 lb. from my ticker weight. My clothes are fitting looser, though, so a loss has to be on its way soon. This week is TOM, so I'm not getting too wound up. I'm hoping that my cravings this week are bearable.

Today I am wearing a size 26 Tall outfit and am tripping over the bottom of the pants. They are way too long, as the waistband is sitting below the waist. Time to get rid of some of the bigger clothes, I think.

Hello Everyone

Hope you don't mind another newbie in the thread. I am on the computer trying not to open the Halloween candy. It's really tempting but I truly believe that I do not want to go down that path again. My real problem is every week I am good for some of the days and off plan for the others. Consequently, I am stuck and the scale doesn't go down. Months have flown by and I have plateaued!
I am going to try the Beck Diet Solution to try and change my behavior. I have been reading a few diet/ behavior therapy books and I think that I was not mentally prepared to change my eating behavior. I lacked satisfying alternatives for bingeing and dealing with my emotions.
But enough about my problems!

I hope everyone has a nice holiday and doesn't overdo the candy.

Peggy: Well, give Emmitt a kiss on the nose from his "auntie Annie" I just adore dogs. He is a doll.

Patti: I'm glad that you are feeling better.

Lessakay: Welcome. Jump in whenever you feel like it. Please don't feel overwhelmed and feel like you have to talk or keep up. We'd love to have you here and chat when you feel like it. Congrats on starting your new life in weight loss. Looking forward to taking the journey with you.

Catherine: Hope that "buzz" keeps buzzing.

Battle: Time to get rid of the bigger clothes for sure. Don't want you tripping on them and getting hurt.

Jessie: Have a great time walking.

Keri: Welcome. Same goes for you as for Lessakay. Jump in and talk when you feel like it.

Well, I had my interview this morning. I guess it went well. I did peak at the list and see that they have about 35 people to interview for the jobs that are available, 2 of them. I tried not to be dissappointed in that. I need to keep my self confidence up and realize that if this job doesn't happen then there is another one on the way for me.

Having pain today from my braces getting adjusted too. I know it will go away in a day or two but it is pretty intense today. He must have really tightened it up. lol. Well, off to put change out of my interview clothes and continue my job search. Hope you are all having great op days.
Blessings,
Annie

Hi everyone and to the newbies! I know you'll love it here.
Today is an op day. Haven't had dinner yet, but it's planned so I know I'm good.
Weren't those Red Sox awesome! We're all pretty tired around here.
Take care and I'll try to check in tomorrow.

Debbie-I so want to be below 300 too. I am trying to stay below 400 right now.

Battle-Yeah, let’s leave that waistband below the waist look to the guys. Go get some stuff that makes you feel sexy.

Jessie-If you love fall weather, you’d like it here this week. The trees are awfully pretty.

CatWuv-step away from the candy. I have played around with the same 20 pounds for so long now that I am actually wearing clothes out instead of growing out of them.

Annie-that’s funny, tripping on too big clothes, until you actually do it. I expected my pants to get bigger, but the idea that the pants would get longer didn’t occur to me. When my husband loses weight, his pants get shorter because he can hitch them higher.

Sandy-do you suppose that you are the only folks in Indiana with World Series hangovers? Were most of you neighbors hoping that the Indians had made it to the series?

Well, I got unpacked and got everything put up. For some reason he decided yesterday that he needed something out of our walk in storage closet, and literally emptied it. That of course meant that I had to put everything back up, and I figured while at it, it made sense to organize as I went. That meant no school work today either. We had a little talk about not making any new work for me until I can get caught up. I’m having trouble concentrating, and I know that can be because of my head injury. Usually I don’t have this much trouble, but things like stress or fatigue, can really exacerbate it. I know I will probably punch out a couple of assignments tomorrow, but there is always that nagging feeling in the back of my mind that maybe I have reached my limit of ability, and just can’t do it.

Happy Monday to everyone - especially all the tired Red Sox fans. I have responsibility for our Denver office - they all warned me not to even ask what happened to them. Congrats!

TFFU - so glad you are starting to feel better. Keep getting your rest and following doctors orders. We will all feel better when you do!

LeesaKay - Welcome - this is a great group of people. The support is unwavering. Everyone has either been there or is there doing it with you.

Catherine - isn't it nice to be back home. So sorry about having to re-organize the closet but I bet you felt wonderful after. Now it's time for you to get some rest and settled back in. Take some special Catherine time be it in the bath, with a book, or a nice walk.

Debbie - you GO GIRL - you will be absolutely stunning in a new outfit for hubbys party.

Heather - take care of your knee - watching your exercise minutes increase is great motivation to me.

Battle - stupid stinkin scale - but at least you have new undies. Isn't it a shame no one but us knows - makes you feel like a new person. Time to put that outfit with the old undies.

Jessie - great job - keep up the good work.

Keri - welcome - this is so much better than Halloween candy.

Annie - I just keep thinking of you in the stiff tan sherriffs outfit. I always think people look so uncomfortable in them. I'm a dog lover too - wasn't Peggy's pup cute. Do you have pups of your own "Dogpal"

Sandy - WOOHOO to you! Do you have the back OP adrenalin? Get some much needed sleep tonight too please. I do hope you are enjoying spoiling the new baby.

OK - I think I'm caught up - sorry if I missed anyone. I surprised myself this week and am actually starting to enjoy exercise - at least the Just My Size Yoga and the treadmill.

Hugs to you all,
GGG

Sandy: Great job being op today! You go girl.

Catherine: I hope you feel less overwhelmed tomorrow. I know you can do anything you put your mind to. There are just times when we are, well, plumb tuckerd out. Be kind to your body. Hugs.

Meta: Youchie. Sorry about your oral surgery and the infection. I hope it heals good soon.

Carol: Yup. I have 2 dogs. Both of them are 1/2 labador Retrievers and 1/2 Golden Retrievers. My female is 10 and she is black looks more like Peggy's baby and my male is yellow and looks very "Goldenish". lol. I adore all dogs pretty much and would have tons more but DH puts a leash on me. lol. I can't wait until I look forward to exercise again too. Good for you. I got there before my surgery but have been slow to "bounce back".

Well, I am off to bed to watch some tv under the covers. Hope you are all doing well and being op.

One more thing. Ammi is going to Alton Towers tomorrow for a few days of vacation. Keep her and her family in your mind and hope they have a great time. She is still really battling with those darn skin infection things and was kind of nervous about getting stares from other people. Alton Towers is an amusement park sounds kind of like Magic Mountain or something along that line.

Blessings all,
Annie
