Ratkitten -- Thanks for the perspective on Rethinking Thin. I really appreciate hearing from science types about this. I think as the research on the biochemical issues continues (e.g., leptin) we're going to need the expertise to decode what's going on.

Ammi -- Good to hear from you. I bet it feels good to be on track again!

Okay, the Red Sox are on -- I gotta go!

I did it! Not only did I do one of the ten minute pilates sessions I also walked on the treadmill for ten minutes. When I finished the pilates session (mind you with hubby watching - something that never would have happened before) he thought I had done so well I should do another one. IT FEELS GREAT. I know it's not much but it is such a start.

I couldn't have done it without all of your support and encouragement - thank you to each one of you.

I'll hold judgment on the pilates video until I've mastered a little more. Several years ago I did pilates and it was a huge success - it's great for toning and you can always work at your own pace. I did the stretch and tone portion - maybe another tomorrow.

Back on the water today - feels so much like "normal".

Have a great night!

Now I have not had TOM come by for 4 months ...sooo it is not a nice visit! I am hoping that he stays a short time. I have real problems with TOM, Dr said its my weight??? ANYHOW..my questions is since walking is out of the question..I will let your imagination run wild with why... is there any other exercise yall can suggest??? I thought of sitting in the chair and doing curls with my weights for my arms?? I know yall would have great ideas.

Rat~ I really appreciated your comments on that book. I know not to spend the money.
I'll just trust you to give us correct stats on clinical trials that pertain to us. I'm fascinated by your work, but it's too much for my pea brain to fully comprehend. You didn't ramble at all.

Annie~ Missing you. Hope you're having a great time with the house to your self.

Nancy~ An hour on the elliptical! WOW! I really hope your trainer stays so you don't have to deal with the others. It's just ridiculous people can't behave.

Ammi~ I am so glad to see you! I've missed you!! I can't really afford to leave my job. The benefits are too good. I basically work for our health, dental, vision and life insurance. Not to mention paid time off is great! The bi*ch weed will get hers. Besides, my new manta is "I'm responsible for my reputation not her!"
I still have tons of Mom's stuff in the garage, so I can't use my Gazelle, yet, but I'm out walking.
Isn't your trip to the amusement park coming up in just a few weeks?

Heather~ Why didn't Tito get Schilling out of there a little earlier?? It's making us crazy. How about the home plate ump???? He's worse than the guy last night!

Cyn~ I heard a blurb the other day that it takes more energy to type standing up than it does sitting down. If you're on line a lot that'll help. Remember, vacuuming and mopping are good exercise too. It's fall finally, do you have a closet you could clean out? If not, please, please, come do one of mine!

Well, I gotta tidy up the kitchen a little and the pay closer attention to the game. It's hard to type in between innings. I think I'm gonna get the laundry folded while watching the game. Til tomorrow my friends!

Hello my lovelies,

Well, things are good here (except my weight is back into 260....the flu is gone and the water weight is back). But it's ok. I will work hard to eat well this week, and I will start getting in exercise where I can. Work is definitely going to be very busy for a while (as many people did lose their jobs), but again, I am thankful to be employed.

Guess what? DH GOT THE JOB!! He seems excited, so I am so happy! Yahoo DH!!

Today was our anniversary and he got me a beautiful diamond necklace. He has such great taste. We ate at the Melting Pot (fabulous fondue), and it was great.

I will be working some tomorrow, as I missed a few days while I was sick and need to kick it up some, but it's ok. Supposed to be in the 40s tomorrow....brr. But I love fall!!

OK eanough rambling. Here are some personals:

Nancy - I just want to say...if I haven't previously...that you are beautiful. Your before and afters were phenomenal. You have done well, keep up the good work.

Ammi - Keep up the good work, you are doing great. It's wonderful to hear how well you take everything. Always in stride. You are great.

Catherine - That’s fabulous news about your wedding dress still fitting you despite you having gained weight since your wedding. You are great. You seem like such a stable rock, we all love having you here.

Heather - It's great to hear (and sad too I guess) that you struggle like the rest of us. You have come so far, keep up the good work. It would be nice to hear "once you reach your goal, it's easy"...but if that were true, none of us would be where we are now.

Annie - You are such an inspiration. I wanna be like youuuuuuuuuuu.

Debbie - you are doing great. See you in Mexico!!

Metachick - Yahoo for buying clothes that you couldn't previously. I really cannot wait until I can feel comfortable in size 28. I know, I am a bit of a cow.

Story - I am so glad to hear your pain has subsided. That is great.

Battleax - Melty cheese. I would eat so much I would bind myself up I am afraid. You have such good willpower.

Ratkitty - I will calculate the trip. It will be worth working towards that. Our new carpet gets installed Oct 26th....so we should have the house put back together and get into a good exercise routine quickly thereafter.

Brenda - Sorry to hear you haven't been feeling great about yourself. Can I just say...you are GORGEOUS!! I am serious. You have done a great job...know that.

That's it for me now. I have been sleeping a little miserably lately, but I feel like some of the stress I have been carrying is releasing.
Talk to you all another time,

Angie

G'Sunday morning all!

My Thin for Life book just arrived yesterday!! I am already half way through. I also got the Eating Thin for Life and am excited about the recipes. I don't cook much, but I love soups in the winter. I also love the zero pt progresso soups that are out and very tasty (not low sodium for those watching that aspect).

GGG, w00h00! There's nothing easy about pilates and 10 minutes is fabulous!!! And then a TM session? You rock! I learned so much about core exercises from pilates. I also loved going to the classes, but it was in a bad side of town and took a bit to get there. Interesting, the trainer in the gym formulated a program that has (you guess it) half of the pilates stretching to help with my sore back! Today is a beautiful day and I'm waking up slowly and psyching up for a regular bike ride. I wonder how my riding will be after 4 spin classes.

*hugs* Cyn, I just got over a horrible TOM. He's such a brat!! Exercising thru his energy-draining presence is like wading thru mud. My cramps got better when I did treadmill or fast walking for 10 min, but that's about the longest duration I could stand during the worst of his visit. Sorry to hear your DH has pneumonia. On a good note, the doctors usually want the pneumonia patient to get up and move and do deep breathing! Perhaps a slow 10 min walk? The good news is that both the pneumonia and TOM will pass soon.

Sandy, you and Heather are so funny with your Sox. I hope they do as well as you want! I wish I had an ellipical. I have no room for one, however.

Yay Angie, the flu is GONE. I'm glad you are re-hydrated. Even better, you are still employed!! Fabulous that DH got the job too! Money is such a stresser. WOW on the diamond necklace! Does your DH have a single brother or twin with the same taste? hehe. Yay on our trip to Mexico! BTW, no cow references to yourself. That is negative talk and I won't let you do it.

Hugs and luv to all!

Hi All,

Don’t you just love a productive Sunday I’ve done my exercise, all my ironing, my towels are in the wash as I type, and I’ve made a lovely stew ready for tonight’s meal. It’s so nice to be able to sit down now guilt free and catch up with you all

RK - now if only Scotty could beam me to where ever I want to go!! I would be visiting everybody on here for starters, and then I’d do my world tour, that would be awesome

Heather - yes it does feel amazing to finally feel 100% back in control again. At the start of this good two weeks I had fully planned on being a real pig when I go away, eating anything and everything in my path. Now I don’t want to spoil how good I feel, and I will try to make the best food choices I can How’s that for a change in attitude

GGGirls - that’s great that you did your 10 minutes of Pilates and that you even did it with hubby watching! The last time my hubby watched me doing a work out he couldn’t help but try to offer advice on how to do stuff. I was working out with weights at the time and I nearly ended up throwing them at him He doesn’t hang around when I exercise anymore

Cyn - so sorry to hear that your hubby has Pneumonia. I hope he will recover from it quickly Sorry too that TOM is visiting after a 4 month absence. Why do us women have to go through such horrible things!! I am trying to think of an exercise for you that doesn’t involve walking, you said the one that first came to mind, doing arm exercises while you are sitting down. I’ll have to give it some more thought and get back to you. Right now everything I am thinking of would surely end up with TOM getting worse.

Sandy - I’m really sorry that you can’t afford to leave your job. You spend so many hours of your life at work that in an ideal world you should enjoy. It sucks that you aren’t able to enjoy yours. I really hope you are able to truly believe in what you said, that it’s YOU that is responsible for your reputation and not her. How anybody could see anything other than the kind, trust worthy, lovely person that you are I don’t know

Angie - to your hubby on getting that job! That must have really made your weekend When does he start?

I’m glad that your flu has gone now even if it does mean you are back at 260. Not to worry, I am sure you will soon lose that water weight and be on the way down those scales again.

Thanks for what you said about me taking everything in my stride. Believe me it’s not always the case. I lose it sometimes and have a real pity party for one. But it doesn’t take me long to pick myself up and realise that all the pitying in the world isn’t going to change a certain situation, so I just roll with it

I better make a move now, I have some emails to write before I have fun at Pogo Bye for now,

Hugs,

Ammi

Just checking in. By the way, the boat story with the Vietnamese women counterbalancing it was, even at the time, hilarious. I mean, I know I'm overweight, sort of hard not to notice, so I wasn't really embarrassed. Just the expressions were funny. I did try to warn them in advance. Hee.

I went out to Seasons 52 with my mom last night, she was visiting up here, staying with my aunt. It's the first time I've seen her since Christmas. Seasons 52 is a small chain and highly recommended! Only problem is that it's overly salted for my taste. But the premise is, it's a wine bar and grill, with healthy meals. The portions are truly normal-sized (as opposed to restaurant-sized) and the entrees are all 450 calories or under. Then they have desserts that are served in extra-high shot glasses, so they're not huge-sized but more realistically sized, and therefore between 200 and 300 calories. I found it great for portion control, and just the smaller portion of dessert was wonderful and satisfying. I had something that was chocolate, chocolate, and more chocolate, it was intense! And unlike splitting desserts, everyone can get something different.

One other downside is that it ends up pricey, as the entrees are smaller sized but what you'd pay in other restaurants for their oversized meals. However, the meal costs ends up being the same, and I never take leftovers home from those other restaurants anyway -- I take it home on my hips! So this was a good find for me.

Morning all!

Red Sox game? We shall not speak of it (they lost in 11 and that's all I'll say).

gggirls ---WTG on the exercise! Just start slow and build and you will be amazed!

Cyn -- I don't know what you can do if you can't walk, but just moving more is useful. Get up and get something rather than waiting for someone else to do it... Do crunches... the curls is a good idea... just move your body.

Sandy -- Can you believe they had to bring in GAG-ME??? *ugh* I know, I know... I said I would not speak of it...

Realist -- I wish I could tell you that a switch turns on and it's easy once you lose the weight, but it's not. And most of the maintainers say the same thing. Don't get me wrong, parts of maintenance are easier. I know what works for me, and I know how to make my plan work for me. But dealing with get-togethers and holidays and stress are all still challenging. And I find dealing day to day can be really challenging, because what "works" for me IS a lot of work!

But the rewards are fabulous and it is totally worth it!

Ammi -- Great to see you back on plan. And you know you don't really want to go crazy food-wise on vacation and that you will regret it... but I know what you mean about having that feeling be a bit overwhelming! When are you leaving???

RabidStoat - that's so great that you found the boat episode hilarious rather than humiliating. I think I would have died a thousand deaths, but then like I said, I would have been too chicken to try getting on in the first place. Good for you for not letting your weight hold you back

Heather - I'm not going until the end of the month and it's only for 2 nights, but we are all really looking forward to getting away.

Patti - I'm glad you are feeling better and that you might be up to exercising tomorrow. Good luck and don't overdo it

Be back soon,

Hugs,

Ammi

Hopefully i'll get my butt in to gear this week. i went and bought a whole bunch of 100 calorie packs and some fruits and veggies. I also got some stretchy bands last week. I get paid on tuesday so i'll have some money to get more exercise stuff soon. It looks like friday i am going to make plans for lunches that i can make the friday after that so i guess i won't be bored and eat. So crossing my fingers that it will be a good week.

Midnight - I can't find any bands - where did you find them?

Not the greatest day - I'm not a good "non-taster" - but a small victory - I didn't taste any of the sweets at the birthday party today.

I love my control - I can't wait to wake up tomorrow when I will say - I am happy, I am healthy and I am in control.

I did walk ten minutes on the treadmill - barefoot - dumb!

Will catch up on personals tomorrow - nite all
