  • I "borrowed" this idea from the 100+ boards. Once I put my list of "magic numbers" together I found I had many mini-goals I can aspire to throughout the journey.

    What are YOUR "magic numbers"?


    Here are mine:

    achieved:315 - highest weight ever recorded
    299 - out of the 3's (8/29/07)
    290 - down 25 pounds, a milestone where i tend to sabotage myself and never get past (11/7/07)
    284 - 1st 10% goal (11/21/07)

    still working on:
    265 - down 50 pounds
    256 - 2nd 10% goal
    244 - no longer "morbidly obese", just "obese"
    240 - down 75 pounds and HALFWAY there!
    231 - 3rd 10% goal
    215 - down 100 pounds
    208 - 4th 10% goal, also no longer "obese", just "overweight"
    199 - ONEderland
    190 - down 125 pounds
    188 - 5th 10% goal
    179 - no longer "overweight"
    170 - 6th 10% goal
    165 - down 150 pounds and GOAL!!!
  • wow, xena, that's a lot of numbers. I may not do as long a list, but here goes...

    330--highest weight I know of
    315--down 15 pounds
    (I'm at 314 now)

    coming up:
    303--that's where I was for a long time until the last few years
    299--out of the 300s
    292--This is what I weighed when I graduated from college
    280--This would be down 50 pounds
    256--This is the lowest weight I've been as since high school
    230--Down a hundred pounds
    192--What I weighed when I graduated high school

    I really can't imagine getting even to 192, let alone below. But this is a good exercise, I think... maybe next time I'll be able to think lower

    195 -- down 100 pounds!
    179 -- out of obesity according to bmi charts and third mini-goal!

    299 – Out of the 300’s

    259 – Past the halfway point
    253 – 100 pounds lost
    225 – Out of the morbid obesity category
    199 – Out of the 200’s
    168 – Out of the obese category and just “overweight” - current goal

    309 - started 3fc
    299- out of 300's
    292 - plateau weight #1
    286 - 50 lbs lost wow - I've reached this one!!!
    275 - mini goal
    261 - 75 lbs gone forever
    243 - 93 lbs lost - half way to goal!
    240 - plateau weight #2
    236 - 100 lbs lost
    199 - onederland!
    186 - 150 lbs gone
    180 - plateau weight #3
    150 - goal!


    Looking at this list - what a great idea - I was surprised to find how far I've come already. Thanks!

    255 - 75 lbs. lost
    242 - "Obese"
    230 - 100 lbs. lost
    208 - Overweight, no longer obese

  • Xena, wow, our start and goal weights (and our height) are very similar!

    316.5 - highest weight ever
    299 - no longer in the 300s!
    286 - the weight I was the last time I went on a "diet"
    270 - any weight above this causes me to have back problems
    260 - where I've been hovering for a YEAR

    245 - the lowest weight I've seen since I started 3FC
    243.25 - half-way to goal
    215 - upper bound of the "moderate overweight" category
    199 - "onederland" - a number I haven't seen since 1989, pre-baby
    170 - goal weight

    240 - no longer "morbidly" obese (I just hate that term)

    175 - no longer obese, overweight BMI

    Starting Weight: 331
    10% Loss/Out of the 3s: 298
    DL Weight: 275
    Halfway to Goal: 248
    100 lbs Gone: 231
    Out of the 2s: 199
    150 lbs Gone: 181
    Goal: 165

    I'm working on the halfway point, much less intimidating to break the big number up!

    137 weight when I got married 20 years and 2 kids ago.
  • I actually talk about these milestones in my blog. I think it is very important for any dieters to set milestones like what you ladies mentioned. The more, the merrier! It is easy (for me at least) to focus on my main goal when I overcome these milestones along the way. A 10lb weight loss 10 times is easier to achieve then a 100lb weight loss
