300+ Weekly Thread #1118

:welcome:

We are a group of individuals who weigh or have weighed 300+, or near there. This group was formed to provide a place for others like us to find support and hope. We are aware of the distinct problems that come with weighing over 300 lbs.

We want to invite everyone (roosters as well as chicks!) to join us in our journey. We share laughter and tears, heartaches and fears ... joys and celebrations. We also share what works for us and what doesn't.

We know the thread can move very quickly, and that people often make "personal" remarks and keep a number of conversations going. Please feel free to contribute even if you can't make personal comments all the time.

Finally, we also have several extra threads going on simutaneously such as Monthly Challenges, Weekly Weigh-ins, Recipes, Bios, Photos, Exercise, Info for Getting Started and more. Many of these threads are stickied at the top of the page. Please feel free to check them all out.

We have found this thread to be more than just a support group... we have found it to become a home. We invite you to join us.

I know you'll all agree that we are really thankful for the free services here at 3FC. The sisters offer all of this support and information with no charges to us. There are a couple of ways though that we can help out.

If you are thinking about buying anything at Amazon, why not help out 3FC at the same time? You can do this by clicking on the button for the Amazon "store" in the upper right hand corner of the screen on the PURPLE tool bar. A portion of your purchase price will be given to 3FC by Amazon. It doesn't increase your price at all, but it does help out 3FC. You can use any of the Amazon.com links that you see on the site in order to help contribute to the site.

Also, BTW, in case you didn't know it, you can view the message boards "ad free" for a minimal charge. I think it's $15 for 6 months. A very small investment to be rid of the annoying ads and make your pages load quicker.

There have been some concerns expressed by the powers that be about copyright infringement. So please, if you are directly quoting someone else or printing an article in whole or in part, please give credit where credit is due!!!

Hello All,

Well here we are at the start of another week. I am glad to say it’s a good start too, the sun is shining :sunny: and I’ve lost 6 lbs :woohoo: Now I am 2 lbs away from where I was in April. I have yo yo-ed ever since then, so now I am going to get there and keep on going down. I have messed around too much this year already and I’m ready to carry on losing  How’s that for determination.

Xena - ah well that goes a long way to explaining you looking much smaller than your weight, you are a tall gal! You are so lucky. I wish I was taller, especially when I get a sore neck reaching up to kiss Daren

Yes he is a wonderful guy, and I am so lucky to have him. I had another bad day yesterday, so he spent a lot of it getting his t-shirt wet from me crying again. I swear I am worse now than when I had the news. It’s weird. Today is a much better day though, no tears so far :D

What happened with the fence guy, did you get him to sort out the missing patches before you paid him?

Catherine - OK I am extremely envious now, West Edmonton sounds AMAZING. I read what you wrote and what Zelma wrote, and I just want to magic myself there right now :D It sounds amazing and I just know I could happily spend hours and hours there

Your dad’s funeral sounded so very special, the military definitely know how to send off one of it’s own don’t they. I’m not surprised the shells you keep in a case get a lot of comments. But now you have to tell me how your hubby met the Pope?

Are you sick to the sight of burgers after working in the kitchen on that match day you mentioned?? You made me smile when you said about hubby being a deterrent to trouble makers but how if something kicked off they would have to fetch you :D Your hubby sounds adorable :D

Brenda - so you’ve got a nice clean car now, but I hope you have more ready for your trip than that considering you leave tomorrow  I hope you’ll have a great time with your friends in Ontario and that the travel there doesn’t make your butt too numb

Annie - I can’t believe that that guy just turned around and slapped you like that. What a pig!! Good for you for punching him on the nose. He certainly deserved it. You were quite the little wildcat weren’t you :D

Rat - good for you for not giving in to TOM cravings. I think I am in that situation myself right now. I could eat everything in sight, BUT I won’t, not after a great loss and not knowing that I want to keep the weight coming off.

Thanks for the hugs, sounds like you need some too, how come you were feeling so wiped out the other day? I hope you are feeling OK now

Heather - I love your new avatar photo, your new hair style looks so glamorous

Realist - your mini goals look great and I love that you aren’t setting a date that you want to reach them by. I am exactly the same, I hate putting a time limit on my weight loss because I do get so disappointed if I don’t make it and then I end up falling off the wagon big style!

Zelma - I’m sorry that you have the occasional bad day too where something will set you off crying about your dad. I guess for us both it’s very early days, and I think any occasion like fathers day for you, mothers day for me, etc will always make us a little sad no matter how many years it is. I hope this Father’s Day won’t be too awful for you

Nancy - 15 years and still emotional times, it doesn’t surprise me though, I don’t think we ever get over losing a loved one. It may get easier but we’ll never stop missing them

As for you going on the pill again so you can miss a few periods, sounds good to me especially with the prospect of having to shower at the gym during TOM. I just don’t get why places like gyms think we will all be OK with showering in front of others. For me it’s my worst nightmare. I am not bothered about having my boobs etc on display lol, I just hate having my fat on display and just the thought of having to lift my tummy to clean under it in public, well it’s just not going to happen. I used to finish up in the gym and go into the disabled toilet to totally strip and wipe myself down with baby wipes  Then I’d go home and have a shower!!

Sounds like you and your ex have managed to make the split and still stay friends which is so good. I ‘m sorry that going through the photos with him was tough. When I split from my ex I just took them all  All the ones with him in I gave to Beth to keep herself, or to give to him, and I just have the ones I want in my albums now. Great that you’ve got some good before photos, I bet you were amazed to see yourself back then before the weight loss

Battleax - sorry that you are feeling under the weather but YOU ROCK. You felt so ill, you were at a funeral, TOM was due and you still thought twice about pigging out, and you didn’t!! Now if that isn’t a sure sign that you are going to get to your goal and keep the weight off I don’t know what is :bravo: I hope you will feel better soon

Luan - darn it, oh well you can’t have everything I suppose…..still working even off campus on the Biggest Loser will be awesome, so I am still :crossed: for you.

SJ - a bikini, wow, that’s cool. I think the last time I wore a bikini I was 10 :D I don’t think I’ll ever wear one again, not unless I can hide my ostomy, my stretch marks and my flabby tummy with it’s scars LOL.

Sorry that you are missing your BF, I am sure he is missing you just as much and you will have a lovely reunion when he gets back ;)

I hope you are feeling better today

Muse - good for you for doing the WATP video and doing it so well too. I have the 2 mile video which I really enjoy, but it doesn’t really tax me these days, so I may just invest in a 3 mile one next.

Okie dokie well it’s time to go make tea now. I hope everybody is having a great Monday and those that had WI’s I hope they are/were good ones.

Hugs,

Ammi :chicken:

Heather 08-06-2007 12:58 PM

I don't know if you guys noticed our name change. The Powers that Be thought "Ready to Try Again" sounded like no one ever succeeded. So, for now we're just "300+ Club".

NotTheCheat 08-06-2007 01:43 PM

Heather – I'll try and remember to pick out a few pics and bring them into work tomorrow so I can scan them in. Heck – I think I might even have the guts to go for a bathing suit pic, but we’ll see. Also, thanks for the clarification about the group name. It makes sense to me.

Annie – Your gondola trip sounds fantastic! And walking that final half mile up the hill at the high altitude and going up a ladder? How cool!!! There are lots of people of normal size who would probably have had trouble doing that.

Sorry I didn’t do more personals, but I promised myself I wouldn’t spend as much work time here this week as I have tons to do!

I found the Boca burgers at Costco for $8 for a pack of 16. That is less than half the cost for the grocery store. I also got a giant bag (4 pounds?) of stir-fry veggies for $6. I also found a great little fruit and veggie market with good prices. I found strawberries for $1.59 a packet (usually $2.50 in the grocery store when they are on sale!) They also had fresh figs, but they were only selling them by the tray and I didn’t think I could eat them fast enough (and I don’t think they would be a great fruit to freeze – but please correct me if I am wrong). I am really going to try and avoid the regular grocery store as much as possible (I ALWAYS walk out of there thinking I spent way too much for what I got). I think I can get everything I need at Trader Joe’s, Costco, and this green market. I will get better food at cheaper prices and be less tempted to buy junky stuff.

I am ready to try my morning gym experiment tomorrow. I got myself out of bed earlier than normal today for practice. I prepped two lunches for today and tomorrow so I don’t have to worry about that. I got deodorant, a hairbrush and face wash/lotion that I can leave in my gym locker. I will pack up my bag tonight and lay out my clothes for tomorrow so that I should be able to get up and go. I’ll see how it goes. One thing that is weird is that my gym is in my office building, and while no one else directly from my office is there, I see people in the hallways all the time. :o

The reason I am doing this morning thing is that my trainer thinks that with lifting heavier and heavier weights I should split up my weights and cardio. He said that it will be harder for me to lift heavy if I do cardio before, and it will be harder for me to build serious muscle if I do cardio after. So, it is an experiment and we shall see how it goes. I guess it is also good to see how I like it in case I enjoy mornings more! Right now I get home so late that most of my evening is gone. If having my evenings back becomes important to me, I might need to switch to mornings. But ugh – I have just never felt like much of a morning person.

Heather 08-06-2007 02:09 PM

Nancy -- And thanks for your earlier suggestion about the name change...

I shop less and less at the traditional grocery stores as I'm buying fewer and fewer of the "processed" items that used to be my staples. We have a nice "produce market" that actually caters to different ethnic cuisines. The produce is usually a great price (last week strawberries were 99 cents for a pound, pineapples range from 99 cents to 2.99 each...), they have a deli, see fresh seafood and I also buy a lot of beans and canned tomatoes... Once every few weeks I hit the big grocery store for things I can't find as easily there...

Actually, I shop at a half dozen stores regularly, including Trader Joe's. Different stores carry different products, and it's amazing how the prices vary!!

As for breaking up the lifting and cardio, I think your trainer's right! Does this mean you will be working out twice a day?? I tend to alternate weight/cardio days.

BattleAx 08-06-2007 02:15 PM

Hi everyone! Notice my ticker has a new number! Yesterday I noticed a change in the way my undies were fitting lol so I couldn't help but drag the scale out of the car and weigh myself this morning. It's going back into the car for another week. I am really closing in on the 300# threshold and can't wait. That will mark the progress for getting out of this range that I have been stuck in so many times over the last 4 years with weight loss. I figure the size 24 pants in my closet are about 15-20 lbs. away so that will be my second mini-goal after crossing back into the 290s.

I seem to be fighting off the bug I have. I'm under the weather but not too much. I'm expecting TOM today, but don't feel bloated. Maybe my body is still adjusting to the new eating plan and will be a little late. We'll see!

BattleAx 08-06-2007 02:32 PM

Ammi: thank you for the cheers! That kind of support means so much to me. It helps me stay motivated. I am so lucky to have found this board. A big congrats to you on the 6 lbs. gone.

I'm sorry you had a rough day. My father has been gone for 5 years, and I still well up with tears at the oddest times. I miss him so much.

Annie: You go, girl! A woman after my own heart, not taking cr@p from anybody! And WTG on walking up the hill.

Heather: I LOVE your haircut. It looks very flattering on you and makes you look even prettier.

Realist: I agree on not setting time limit goals. We can only control what we put into our mouths and how much we move around. The rest is out of our control. I think setting up time limits for weight loss can be a setup for disappointment and feelings of failure, if the body doesn't cooperate.

Nancy: I'm proud of you! 3 more lbs. gone. You are on fire.

It's good that you are completing the details of your split with ex. I'm a big fan of moving on once decisions are made. The sooner you are able to be free of him completely, the sooner you will clear the way for even more positive things to come into your life.

As far as the shopping goes, I buy a lot at Safeway only because it's across the street from my office and 1.5 blocks from home. But, I make it a point to go to Trader Joes as much as possible. It takes a lot more effort to get to the stores selling produce cheaper, but I do when I can. I stay out of Costco because I have a hard time controlling myself in there. Prices are astronomical here, so the effort to find cheaper high quality food is worth it.

Muse: Yay on saying no to the club and do awesome with WATP. A few years ago, I went into a club--I think it was 24 Hour Fitness, with my checkbook. I told them I've already seen the club, I'm not interested in the tour and didn't have time to listen to the sales pitch, but if they could just tell me the price of membership I would gladly write the check to join immediately. They wouldn't do it, so I walked out.

I'm sure I've missed some folks, but have to go. More later. Have a great OP day!

Outland 08-06-2007 03:51 PM

Congrats Battle!

I just got back from my mom's and checkin still have a lot of reader to do to catch up. Hope everyone has a great day!

Ratkitten 08-06-2007 03:52 PM

Hello all!

My ticker moved EVER so slightly. I got off the pity party poundage! Yay! TOM arrived today and I'm miserable. I'm still OP, but doing the fingernail hanging thing. I'm motivated by how well Battle has done!! Yay Battle! Congoratz at your new looser knickers! hehe.

Catherine - you are so funny.. I can just see you "taking care" of things if a drunk gets out of hand. You and Annie are a pair!

Wyllen - your avatar photo is gorgeous!

Luan - tell us how the interview for TBL went. We are all rooting for ya. :carrot:

Annie - your mountain trip sounded fabulous. I'm jealous :)

Nancy - you go girl! 3 more pounds gone :)

I had a salad last night, but wanted to eat everything (dang that TOM). I didn't get on the treadmill. I have plans for today. I'm hoping it'll chase that nasty TOM out of the way. I'm busy drinking my fluids now. I get my exercise bouncing up and down out of my chair to go to the potty all day.. hehe.

Hugs and Luv to all,
Rat

dogpal 08-06-2007 04:11 PM

Xena: Congrats on the President's challenge thing. I am so proud of you! What a great feeling. I hope that the fence buy comes back soon to fix his mistake.

Catherine: I hope you get to ride the gondolas as much as you want in October. Are you anywhere near Fort Steele?

Battle: I hope you feel better very soon. Yeah about your ticker change!

Zelma: I don't know how to post the pics. lol Sorry. I have one on my avatar. That is me on top of the mountain after I climbed it! Lindsey's young man didn't end up coming with us. He ended up going water skiing or something instead. I don't blame him. I adore the water and water sports. Hopefully this time next year we will be out on the lakes doing the same thing!

Ideal: Glad that you are doing Walk away the pounds. I like to exercise at home better than going to the gym. I can't swim at home so I have to go to the pool. I have to go to a toning place on Friday and work out. It is a program that goes along with the program that my Surgeon has. You have to do it, I am glad. It is already paid for. So, I figure I might as well. It is with a personal trainer. I don't really know exactly what it is. I'll let everyone know on Friday.

Ammi: Yeah I am so happy for you to rid yourself of those 6 pounds. Great job. All that bike riding must be paying off.

Heather: I did notice the name change. I'm glad to know I'm not just crazy and it did change, lol.

Nancy: Yep. My DH who is only 25 pounds overweight and Lindsey were breathing hard to. Lindsey is 5'9 1/2 just like me but she weighs 135. She works out all the time too so it really was the altitude. I hope your new gym routine works out great for you.

Ratkitten: congrats on your ticker moving! Way to go.

Well, I am going to do the WATP tape today instead of going out for a walk. I walked more than 2 hours on Sunday but I only claimed 2. I am really starting to feel so much better. It is a great feeling being able to do things again. I have an ortho appointment in the morning at 7 am then my final Pre op group appointment at 2 p.m. plus all my exercises. I am not allowed to exercise at all on Thursday to prepare for a resting metabolic test I will be having on Friday so I am going to try to do a bit extra every day to make up for it.

blessings to you all,
Annie

princesspuffypants 08-06-2007 05:34 PM

YAY i totally just got hired on TBL!!! i start work NOW!

CatherineM 08-06-2007 06:56 PM

Ammi-He met the pope when he brought back the Papal flag he carried with him to the south pole. In the picture he is practically bent in half because he was about a foot taller than the pope. He was in Antarctica looking for meteorites. He is the world’s biggest nerd. He picked out the costume that he wants for Halloween this year. Visual a 6’5” 350 lb. Penguin. Simplicity has a cute new pattern. He has stuffed penguins all across the top of the TV. And yes, I am thoroughly sick of hamburgers. I’m practically ready to become a vegetarian.

Annie-I have no idea where Ft. Steele is. I barely know where I live.

I did have a little unpleasantness today. Some very silly man decided to see if his Subaru could mate with the very large bus I was on. Short answer is no. I was on one of the brand spanking new buses too, and I told the driver that they would be making fun of her that they had let a woman drive one, and she brought it back quite dented. I seem no worse for the wear, but was a little dingy afterwards, and had to have my husband come get me at the mall the bus let me out at. With my old head injury, getting banged around can made me a little disorientated.

Heather 08-06-2007 07:08 PM

BTW, congrats Ammi and BattleAx and RatKitten for their scale losses. My scale went down today too. Back down to 175. I think a couple more pounds and I'll be back where I was this spring. Though I was waylaid by a horde of granola bars today that just jumped in my mouth, so there are extra calories to work off. :(

Annie -- I'm thrilled to see you reclaiming your life!!! :woohoo:

Luan-- Congrats on TBL! You will have to tell us all about it!

Xena2005 08-06-2007 08:17 PM

Ammi - Regarding my fence, I have not paid him yet and he has not been by to look at the fence that I am aware of. I had meant to call the fence company today but got busy at work and forgot. I'll try again tomorrow. His big mistake is letting me sit here and think about it too longer. The longer I have to think about it, the more stubborn I get about it knowing I am in the right. At this point there is little chance of me backing down. He won't know what hit him.

Heather - I like the name change. I never thought about the old one sounding like no one ever suceeded but once you said it I was like, "Yeah, I can see that." I don't need those kind of subliminal messages, that is for sure! ;)

Nancy - I used to be the perfect morning exerciser. Every Mon-Fri at 5:30AM and on Sat I would sleep in and exercise at 7:30AM. I am trying to get back into that routine as I find I am more consistent if I exercise in the mornings. For me once I was used to getting up, I was much less likely to make excuses in the mornings that I was if I tried to exercise in the evenings. One trick that I learned from Shape magazine that helped me get into the swing of getting up to exercise was that I would sleep in my workout clothes with my shoes right next to the bed. That way all you have to do is roll out, get your shoes on, throw your hair up in a pony tail and out the door you go. It sounds crazy but it really helped! I also found that if I just got up as soon as the alarm went off rather than allowing those "I am too tired" or "Just 5 more minutes" thoughts to even come to my head. It was just up and out and before I was even awake enough to know what was going on I was in the car and on my way to work out. Over time it gets easier and easier to do. Good luck!

BattleAx and Ratkitten - :congrat: on moving that scale downward.

Annie - How do they test your resting metabolic rate? That would be a very interesting thing to know about yourself. Do you have a surgery date yet?

Luan - :congrat: on the job. What will you be doing for the show? I am looking forward to it starting. Although I have to admit that I feel like they lose their weight at some pretty unhealthy rates. Hey, did you hear Matt and Suzy from a couple seasons ago had a baby boy?

Catherine - I hope you are feeling better after your crash.

Nothing much new with me. I have an orientation to go to for graduate students on Thursday after work. On Friday I am hoping to sneak out of work a little early and get to the bookstore to buy my books. School is only 2 weeks away now.

dogpal 08-06-2007 08:22 PM

Luan: Yeah! Congrats on the job! I am so happy for you. I hope you have a blast hun.

Catherine: I am so glad you are okay. I hope your head stops rattling soon and you feel great soon enough. LOL on the Forte Steele thing. My DH and Dad have been there from here a couple of times. When we used to come visit them up here they would take off for the day, and part of the night to drive there and look at all the cool things. I was just wondering if you live near there. I need to pull out a map and try to find you. lol. Hugs.

Heather: Yeah for your loss! I know you are so pleased. When granola bars and such try to jump in my mouth lately I threaten to eat the whole box. Usually they back down some. lol.

Well, I hope you are all op and having a great day.

blessings,
Annie

Debbie54 08-06-2007 08:58 PM

Hi Ladies!!
It's so good to be back and I have great news!! I actually lost 2 more pounds even though I was on vacation!!!! WHOOO HOOO!!
We went up to Whistler,Canada and it was just goooooooooorgeous. We walked and walked and walked all over that little village. It's where the 2010 Winter Olympics is going to be held and I must say it's a fantastically beautiful place. It was so nice because we got a little rain a couple of days and then it cleared up so it was perfect.
I did eat things I shouldn't have but I think with all the walking, it just didn't stay on.
There are too many personals to get caught up on so once I read them, I will post on them.
Hope everyone had an OP day!!!
Debbie

dogpal 08-06-2007 10:03 PM

Hi Xena,

We must have been posting at the same time. I know that I can't exercise the day before or the day of at all, I can't eat 12 hours before and It is a breathing test. I will have to let you know how they do it later.

hugs and blessings,
Annie

dogpal 08-06-2007 10:04 PM

Debbie: Congrats on another 2 pounds! Glad you had such a great time on your trip.

Blessings,
Annie

chimichanga 08-06-2007 10:17 PM

Hey everyone,

I want to start by apologizing for not posting to this thread in yonks. Life has been throwing me many curveballs lately, and its been hard to do anything much with myself. I haven't even had the odd minute to lurk. Long story short- i moved into the parents, then i went on a month long trip followed by 3 weeks recovering from pneumonia. The good news for me is that i haven't gained any of the weight back in these last couple months, which is pretty cool. The bad news is its back to work on this bootylicious arse of mine, I'm hoping to get back in the full swing (going gym every day) by next week.

I can't believe some of the profile pics- you guys are all looking alot thinner!!!! Its great to see, and really inspiring to me... especially the cheat and ammi! well done guys... I hope everyone is well too.

I hate when that happens. ;)

Just checking in. I am down 2 lbs this week..I was definitely carrying around a bunch of water what with how swollen my fingers and ankles were. Yikes. I hate the heat and humidity. This weekend was glorious. Had a great one...altho I was a *tad* OP on Saturday. No biggie.

Talked to my Doc today. I am now in the *high* normal zone for my thyroid, but I told her that I still felt funky and that I have only felt this way since starting the meds, so she upped my level a bit more. Oy! I am eating well, exercising, have lost nearly 40 lbs since I saw her in May and taking my vitamins everyday. I should feel good...not like I am in a catatonic state for a good chunk of the day. Shoot...I did not feel like this in April!

Anyway...thats it from here..... I am still reading and will post when I can.

Annie...good luck on your test. I know you will pass the test and get to have your WLS. Sending prayers your way.

Nancy...CONGRATS on the loss!! Good for you getting into lifting weights. I am going to join a gym near where I work so that I can go right after work.

:hug::hug: to all of you!! Have a great week. :)

Idealmuse 08-06-2007 10:52 PM

Hi all -

Nothing new on my side did my WATP DVD again today since it was warm and super humid out. Down another 2 this week (waves to the lovely #6) I thought I'd try some personals... just a few to start, but I'd really like to get to know you guys better (as in everyone on 300+!) I like the name change BTW because there certainly are many successful people in here best to think positive!

Ammi - Congrats on the loss. I know what that yo-yo-ing is like all too well. WATP: The 4mile super challenge is a good one I also hear good things about the 5 mile. At your smaller size Im sure you could tackle both easily!

Battle - Yeah I love those new #'s. I found a 6 to put in mine this week! Yeah, I told them I didn't want the tour either but the wouldn't tell me the cost without sitting me down for the hard sell. Their loss.

Dogpal - I like doing it at home better. Before I messed up this winter I was doing all my exercise at home with DVDs both the toning and cardio. I built up a nice little collection, got a step and a rebounder and some nice floor mats so I'm set for when the weather cools down and I can go back into the basement. The Toning thing does sound interesting do let us know how it went!

PrincessP - TBL? wow what will you be doing?

Debbie: Congrats! I'm always surprised/happy when that happens. BTW I'm a Debbie too although no one has called me that since I was young everyone calls me Debb now.

princesspuffypants 08-07-2007 12:45 AM

hey all! back from a busy day at the biggest loser!! YAY! can you believe it? im working in the casting department. getting stuff ready to come out to see all you wonderful people!! it was a busy day of making copies and getting supplies ready to send the casting directors out on the road. basically, im just an office assistant. but its awesome!!

Idealmuse 08-07-2007 12:48 AM

That sounds like the most awesome office asst. job ever!

Enjoy the new job!

BattleAx 08-07-2007 01:23 AM

Congrats and good luck luan!

BattleAx 08-07-2007 02:09 AM

Hi everyone,

Another successful OP day is coming to a close for me. TOM is here and there was no out-of-control need to eat everything day. I don't know why, and I'm not sure it's ever happened before, or will happen again, but I'll take it! I usually let myself off the exercise hook for 3 days or so on these weeks, as I get sick and it's all I can do to function at a minimal level and collapse at the end of the day.

Tomorrow is going to be busy (ugh, wrong time), and I may not get a chance to check in. If not, y'all have a great day.

Debbie: Welcome back, and super-duper congrats on managing a 2# loss during vacation.

Chimicanga: Welcome back to you, too. It says a lot that you were able to maintain the loss during a very stressful time. Now you can get back on the losing track and take it to the next level.

Tori: Good going on the 2#. I hope you are able to feel better and more alive. It has to be difficult to work and carry on feeling like that. And yet you continue to lose!

Ideal: I'm impressed on the WATP. The last time I tried the 2 mile, I could make it through about half. It's a lot more strenuous than it seems.

Xena: I'm excited for you with school coming up in 2 weeks. You'll do great!

Heather: Yay on getting back to 175! You are almost comfortably in the size 12s! Just a little more, and you're there.

Catherine: Ugh, I'm sorry you experienced the accident. I hope you feel more like yourself soon.

Annie: It's getting closer! You must be on pins and needles this month.

Big John: You keep at it, you pink god! I saw the pic of you in the shirt, and it looks good on you. Not girly at all.

Hello All,

I just got done with my work out for today. I can’t believe how much I sweat YUCK yuck yuck  Well I enjoyed my shower, and here I am nice and fresh catching up with you all.

Heather - yes I noticed the name change and although I don’t mind the new name, I do like the old one better. I don’t know anybody that got to 300 + lbs without at least trying and failing at a diet once. BUT the name ‘ready to try again’ to me didn’t make me think of all my failures at dieting, or anybody else’s, it made me feel like we have all got to this size even though we’ve tried diets in the past but THIS time we are ‘ready to try again’ and we’re determined to succeed because we are here looking for support to do just that.

That’s great news that your scale shows you at 175 now :cp: :crossed: that it won’t be long before you and I are both at our spring weights. I have another 2 lbs to go myself, so we can do it

Nancy - good luck with the new morning gym routine. I am such a night owl that I’m even finding it hard to make myself get up at 9 am for my breakfast and then my work out at home. I don’t think I could operate any earlier than that

Battleax - :cheer: that’s great news about your weight loss. See, although it’s nice to see the numbers go down on the scale, you knew from your baggy undies that you had lost weight. NSVs are the best. But of course it’s cool that the scales backed up what your undies were telling you  I really need to buy some new ones myself because the ones I’ve got now if I pull them right up the actually cover all my tummy and my boobs too

I’m sorry that you lost your dad 5 years ago, seems like a lot of us here have lost our parents. I guess it’s all part and parcel of life but it doesn’t make it any easier does it

I’m glad you are fighting off the bug you have, and I hope you’ll soon be feeling 100% again.

Rat - I’m glad you got to move your ticker down even if it wasn’t as much as you would have liked. Wait til your next WI when TOM should have been and gone, you should get a much nicer reading then

Annie - you amaze me. The amount of exercise you do is just so inspiring. When I sit on my bike pedalling away watching the clock just willing the time to go, I think to myself, come on girl, be more like Annie, have some willpower and guts!!!! Once you recover from your WLS and you can exercise again I bet you’ll amaze the doctors at how quickly the lbs come off. You’ll make the record books I bet

Do you want me to post any of your photos from your Gondolas trip? Let me know, I’ll be happy to do it.

Luan - :congrat: on getting the job. It sounds like it is such a great job. I hope you’ll love what you do, and :crossed: you one day might get to meet that cute trainer, what’s his name, Bob?

Catherine - Daren is green with envy, he would love to go to the South Pole looking for meteorites. He’s into all that stuff too. He’d get on great with your hubby. Mind you he doesn’t love penguins as much  You HAVE to take photos of your hubby at Halloween wearing that Penguin costume you are going to make him. I just have to see a 6 foot 5 penguin :D

I’m so sorry that you were involved in that RTA, but am thankful that you are OK after it. Hubby must have been worried when you called him to fetch you.

Xena - glad you are going to stick to your guns about the fence. You shouldn’t have to pay any money for a job that isn’t done well.

Debbie - :cp: on losing 2 lbs even though you had been on vacation. It’s great to go away and not come back heavier

That’s cool that you got to see where the Winter Olympics will be. I love to watch them, and if I had the money I’d love to do more than just watch them on TV. I’d love to go to Canada to watch some of the action. Do you think you will go back to watch them yourself in 2010?

Chimi - welcome back  Sorry that you had been so unwell, are you fully recovered now? Are you enjoying being back home, or are you itching to be able to move out ASAP. Great news on not gaining any weight since you last posted :cp: Won’t be long til those lbs are flying off again especially when you intend to work out in the gym daily.

Thanks for saying I look a lot thinner, that’s a very flattering pic of me  I just need my bottom half to catch up to my top half and then I will be happy :D

Peggy - :woohoo: on being another 2 lbs down. You have done amazing, losing 40 lbs since May. I’m just sorry you don’t feel as great as you should be thanks to your thyroid problem and not having the meds at the right level. I hope the new level of meds will help get you feeling back to normal

Muse - great news about your 2 lbs loss :cheer: :bunny2: you’ll soon be waving bye bye to #6 not hello

Thanks for saying you think I’ll cope well with the WATP 4 mile video. I’ll have to see if I can get it. It will be nice to have a more up to date video. Speaking of which I recently bought a box set for my daughter with 10 different fave work out DVDS in it. One is called Body Works, it’s a great work out, and I love doing it, but heck, it’s 21 years old!!! The outfits and hair are sooooo funny, and the guy doing some work out with dumb bells actually says something like, now let’s get started on a totally new concept in working out, using WEIGHTS

OK time for lunch now, ham and cheese spread sandwiches here I come  lol. Bye for now,

Hugs,

Ammi :chicken:

Nancy! You look fabulous!!!

I am glad you found that old pic of you. You look years younger in the one taken last night. Thanks for sharing with us! WOW!!

Heather 08-07-2007 10:47 AM

Nancy, WOW!!!! :D

You, Brenda and John have inspired me to post my own before afters (see the picture thread)... though I should try to get some pics of me in my old clothes!!!

PNW Red 08-07-2007 11:00 AM

Morning all-I'm newbie but I'm going to just jump right in here.

You all look amazing in your photos! Congratulations for all the hard work you've already put in!

I'm on day five of Jenny Craig and that "new diet" hunger is starting to fade a little. I can tell I'm starting to get used to the smaller portions already, which is great! I can't stand feeling constantly hungry. I know I'm already down a few pounds and will probably have that big first week water weight loss. But I"ll take it.

I have to get ready to start the day. My baby decided to get up at 4am and hasn't slept more than half an hour since. By the time I'm ready to go, he will probably be ready for his morning nap. :)

CatherineM 08-07-2007 11:55 AM

I feel like I woke up this morning with a hangover. The head injuries I've received in the past put me on par with retired football players, so any kind of jarring motion to my head can really make me goofy for a few days. I even slept in my clothes last night. I'm jumping at any little noise, and generally ache all over. I have to take a couple of days without too much stimulation to reboot my brain if that makes sense. So, I'm going to sit here and go through my clippings pile and paste them in my note book. That will be low impact, but productive. It may take me awhile to do personals again. I've probably forgotten everyone's names anyway.

Heather 08-07-2007 12:00 PM

PNW -- Welcome here! It's a great place for support! I'm glad you're getting in the Jenny Craig groove.

Catherine -- As long as you remember your own name, I think you're fine! Feel better!

BattleAx 08-07-2007 12:36 PM

Nancy, Heather, WOWWWWWWW!!!!!! Your pictures brought tears to my eyes. I'm overcome with emotion for you. And what an inspiration you are to me.

NotTheCheat 08-07-2007 01:34 PM

Thanks everyone for the comments on my pics!! I am really glad I went ahead and posted them.

I made it to the gym this morning for my cardio and it went fine. There actually weren’t as many people there as I had expected since I was a bit on the late side (ran out right at 9am). It feels good to have gotten my cardio done for the day.

Heather – Yes, I am going back to the gym this afternoon for my lifting! It is hard to believe that I have transformed from someone who never went to a gym to someone who would go twice in one day. I may not need to do this – I could take days off from cardio – but I am really trying to kick it back into gear. Oh, and I can just picture the hordes of granola bars – it is just like something out of a 60’ sci-fi B-movie!

Deb – Did you sleep in your bra too? That would be weird for me. Having everything else almost ready to go worked well. However, I think your trick might be the way to go in the winter. It is one thing for me to get up when it is already starting to get light outside. Getting up in the dark is another matter entirely. . .

Catherine – Are you sure you are ok? If you hit your head hard you might want to get it checked out, especially if the headaches continue at all. Being in or around an accident is always a shock to your system that can take some time to recover from.

Ammi – It seems the more I work out the more I sweat. It is the weirdest thing. I loved your story about wiping yourself down in the bathroom with the towelettes because I can so relate. I wish I could feel better about being naked in front of other women, and I know that it is something that I need to work on, but it is ok to admit that I am not there quite yet.

Battle – That is great that you had a TOM day without horrible eating needs. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come?

Luan – Congrats on getting the job! That is really cool!

Muse – I am so glad to hear you have found a workable solution to your exercise and heat issues. I have only ever done the 1-mile WATP. I think they have some of the longer ones at the library. I should check them out for just in case.

Peggy – That is great that you are monitoring your thyroid so closely.

Chimichanga – I am sorry to hear you have been having a rough time. You said you moved back in with your parents. Does that mean you split with your guy?

Debbie – Congrats on losing while you were away on vacation!

Annie – I can’t wait to hear about your metabolic test. That sounds so interesting!

Heather 08-07-2007 01:44 PM

BattleAx -- Glad you got inspired! That's why we post 'em! Check out Catherine's too.

Catherine -- Wow, that pic of you in the wheelchair! Do you still have your wedding pics? Those are a great comparison to "before"

Nancy - Somehow I feel so much better succumbing to a B-movie invasion than simple granola bars!!

I think exercising 2ce a day is a great way to jumpstart things. I should be doing that too.

I was thinking recently that I can't believe how much I've changed exercise-wise. I still don't love to get myself to the gym, but even on bad weeks I exercise at least 3 days a week! And good weeks, it's 6-7 days a week. ME!

AND, I walk more places without even thinking about it. From work, there are lots of restaurants about a 10 min walk away. Two years ago, that walk was unappealing. I could do it, but didn't feel good, especially the way back, which is uphill. Now I don't even think about it, and generally don't count it as exercise!!

Debbie54 08-07-2007 02:20 PM

Hi chickies!
Heather: Some day I hope to feel about exercise the way you do. I just can't get myself motivated to do it. I have my treadmill sitting right here next to me...calling my name...and I'm so rude, I just ignore it...poor thing.

Nancy: As soon as I get done with personals, I'm going to go "check you out"!!
Even in your new avatar, you can tell the difference in your face. You go girl!!!

Catherine: I must of missed what happened to you while I was gone, but I sure hope you get to feelin' better soon. Take care of that head of yours!!

PNW: Welcome and congrats on doing Jenny Craig. I think the hardest part is the first couple of days getting the body to adjust to smaller portions. I think our stomachs think our throats have been cut...lol....WHERE'S THE FOOD? Once you have the mindset, you can do anything, so good luck to you!

Ammi: It sounds like those old tapes are hilarious to remember thats how people looked back in those days. No matter what though, they still help us get those pounds off...so they must be doing something right.

Battle: Congrats on battling against ol TOM. It can be a real pain sometimes when it makes us crave and binge. Just keep fighting the fight!

Thanks to all for the congrats on my 2#'s lost. I'm really determined to get into the teens by next week. I'm really watching what I eat and still not depriving myself of things that I crave, but just eating them in smaller portions and making allowances in my 1600 a day caloric intake.
Hope all have a wonderful day
Debbie

I know I'm not around much still, but things are just so hectic. But I absolutely HAD to take a moment to come and say WOW to all the fabulous pics in the picture thread! You guys have some great idea for progress pics--wearing the same shirt in the before and current, or showing how big your "before" clothes are on you now! I'll join you guys in some progress pics once I stop moving in reverse :dizzy:

BattleAx 08-07-2007 04:27 PM

Hi everyone,

I dropped another 2 lbs. this morning. The scale is on its way back to the car. This is why. As soon as it's in my hands, I'm obsessed. I'm happy about the 2 lbs., though, and am loving this quick loss phase. It'll slow down soon enough, so I'll enjoy the ride.

Today I am wearing a suit jacket in size 24 from Macy's that I bought several years ago. It's a little tight still, but my body is definitely moving in the right direction. It won't be long until the jacket fits perfectly. Looking good in clothes is not even near the top of my list of reasons for losing weight, but each new piece of evidence that my efforts are paying off makes me happy. I'm looking forward to the higher quality clothes at Macy's.

Today's jacket is a really nice quality piece of clothing, in a classic style that will last for years. Not that I'm going to be in a size 24 for years--a woman in need at Wardrobe for Opportunity (charity that outfits people going into the workforce with professional clothes for interviewing and starting off their jobs) is going to be a happy owner of this jacket someday soon, I hope. BTW if you have any professional clothes that are too big, you may want to look for a similar organization in your area to donate to. They are especially thrilled to receive plus-size work clothes.

Have a great OP day everyone. Thanks to everyone who posted pictures. I keep going back every time I have a moment and looking at all of you. I am overcome with emotion.
