I am one of those that is going to do the celebratoy tattoo thing as well. Mine will be for when I reach my first hundred pounds gone, so I am hoping to have it done in January or Febuary. I am looking at having something like Nicole Richie's anklet done, though I can't see having a cross tattooed on my foot. After that whenever I reach my goal weight, I'll decide what to do.

My first tattoo I got 10 years ago and I still love it...so do kids that are from like 2-6. It's a pawprint and every summer when I go out in sandals or barefoot, I am reminded that I have been branded as a Blue's Clue.

And, just for reference:

I agree with this statement. I would definitely want to lose the weight first before getting the tat. That way it looks good when you get it and you can be proud of yourself for reaching your goal. Just my opinion.

I'm not part of your group (I just lurk here occasionally because your stories are inspirational and some days I really need the inspiration), but I do have a tattoo on my shoulder blade. I got it in college, when I weighed around 160 (I didn't weigh myself back then, but I was about a size 14-16) and after gaining nearly 100 pounds, it didn't change shape at all. So that's another place you can safely tattoo, in my experience, without worrying about stretch or shrinkage.

I'm planning a celebratory tattoo when I get back down to my college weight, this time a crane with wings outstretched on the top of my bicep. The crane is a symbol of longevity, and also personal to me, so it symbolizes more than just weight loss, but I think it's appropriate. I'd just like my arms to be smaller before I do it.
