Nancy: I really commend you about not signing on at work. I think that is the right thing to do only on breaks and such. Good for you. I love someone who does the right thing. I helps me to do more of the right thing. I hope we still get to hear from you though!
Brenda: Hugs. Sorry the fudge was tempting you. Today will be a better day. Catherine: Thanks for the info. I am a dummy. I have never used a ped before last night and it measures milage. lol. I'm happy to know how many feet a 1/2 mile has in it though. that is very important stuff for me to know. Missy: Thanks for posting the recipe. It sounds so yummy. I will give it a try when I'm off the liquids. Congrats on the 80 minutes of walking too. That is wonderful. Ammi: Yep, the dad on Supernatural is a doll. I think Dean is a cutie too have to admit. The dad is yummy. lol. Super Congrats to you on another -4 pounds. The incredible shrinking Ammi. Jilly: Hope you found all the games and stuff you were going to search for your Wii. Donna: Glad Brittney is feeling better. I hope she heals quickly. LeeAnneC: Ballet sounds so hard. I hope your Dr. approves you for it so you can do something you enjoy and use those shoes again. hugs. Well, I'm off to do my daily exercises. Hope you are all op and having great day. Blessings to you, Annie |
Ammi i forgot to congratulate you on your weight loss.. foolish me but i plead ignorance due to illness lol!
|
hi Annie!Good for you on the exercise today.. i have been goofing off today mainly due to hubby being here !
Jilly how are you liking your wii/ |
I have to make this really fast but:
ANNIE :carrot: :broc: :bunny2: !!!!!! That is SO way cool. I’ve been convincing myself that all my little cheats were at least good ones (very plain salads, raisin bran once for the fiber, a small apple), but guilt is heavy and I haven’t been dropping tonnage like I’d like to. YOU, on the other hand, are SSSSSSSSSSssssssMOKIN’!!!! I can’t begin to tell you how pleased and inspired I am!!! Catherine’s right tho – 30% IS scary. I hope you get help with that asap! LILION – The neighbors on the lower two floors of Jilly’s apartment?! You cracked me up!!! NANCY, I understand about having a “pusher.” My housemate used to bring home tons of backed goods, etc. She’s finally learned, for the most part, to hide that stuff in her room. Now if she hears me in the kitchen at night, she’s like a mother hen chasing me out. Great change, but it took a really long time to train her. BRENDA, Enough of that girl! Now step AWAY from the fudge! AMMI, I’d LOVE to go up in the blimp, but it’s really not my place. One of her own children or grandchildren should go. Maybe her sister. What a thrill, tho!! WTG on getting that 4 pounds gone, and mooooovin’ on down some more! Congrats!! PEGGY – Are ya struttin’ yet??? MELISSA, Ooooo, all that fruit – YUM! DONNA, I sure hope your poor Brittany is feeling better. I always feel so bad for the poor things, and we can’t just ask them what’s wrong. KAYLEY, Good that it’s not broken, but I hope the pain is gone soon!!! LANNE – I SO wanted to take ballet when I was a kid. It was made clear to me at the time that fat girls didn’t do that… I still remember that constant nagging feeling of being insufficient, not good enough, fat. Self image can be such a powerful and self-fulfilling form of deceit. If we believe it, we will live it. …SO DANCE! DANCE FOR US ALL!!! Ladies, the horse puckies are calling me. I didn’t do stalls last night because I had a meeting, and I have another one tonight, so I better shovel fast! Gosh! It feels so good to be coming back here tho! |
Hey everyone-
Wow you ladies move so fast!! I can't keep up! Well I have been feeling horrible with not having my thyroid meds. I really feel so run down and just miserable. So to say the least I can't wait to go to the doctor tomorrow! I am also going to ask to do a full blood panel just to check on others things. I have no clue what my cholesterol is. I don't really want to know but I need to know! Well I am so behind let me get a few personals in... CATHERINE~ I saw that you had a loss. WTG! :bravo: :congrat: ANNIE~YAY on losing 13.5 pounds! :woohoo: :cheer2: LISA~Thanks Dh is doing great. Also I am so sorry to hear about your foot! But I am glad you are feeling better and you got your walking cast.I hope you continue to feel better.:) KAYLEY~Your poor finger! I sprained one not long ago and its really painful! I hope the Dr. can figure out whats going on. ANNIE~That is great about the walking! I am not sure how many steps it takes to walk a mile. When I did my walking in Barrow in my house it was 70 small laps to make a mile. I didn't count steps though. MELISSA~That smoothie sounds good! AMMI~Stay dry in all that rain. We had a rainy weekend this past weekend. That is great you guys are back on track with the gym.I hope you do get your two visits in! And YAY on losing 4 pounds! WTG! :congrat: :cheer2: DONNA~Great pic you posted! You are so pretty! Hope you all are having a good week so far. |
Just a fly by post...my finger is feeling a little better, but probably won't be back to doing personals until a little later. Keeping ice on it for now, and will soak it in warm water per doctor's orders a little later. I've gotta still do some things today, unfortunately...at least one of them is getting a look at a few of my options for a new car! :) Then, I've gotta run by Walmart.
I should be back before heading to the gym! :) Hope you're all having a fantastic Tuesday so far!!! |
Annie -OMG amazing weight loss, and I am sure that will give u the strength to carry on with the optifast!
Ammi - brilliant on your loss too and what a great loss it was!! I've just been for a lovely swim, did 40 lengths tonight and that is progress as I started off doing just 15! George's birthday was yesterday, he had a fab day, mainly Dr Who type pressies, however I munched all afternoon on party food and felt awful this morning :( weighed a few pounds up too, but had eaten my body weight in salt so not that suprised really - anyhoo won't take that as my real weight unless it stays for a while! But eating that food reminded me of how leaning on food for comfort really is so utterly pointless and just makes me feel sooooo UGH now I just can't do it. Today been back on track, had around 1800 cals and did my swim, so will hopefully just be a blip and a not very nice one at that! Chat soon x x x |
YAY!! I got my pictures to finally post!! THANKS SO MUCH AMMI!!!
I know it helps me to put faces to the people...so here I am w/the family! (even though I think I look like the typical matronly Aunt! LOL) |
Ammi-My insurance is through the Society of American Foresters. My bachelors is in forestry, and they encourage student’s to join right off the bat. Forestry can be very debilitating, and sometimes pretty dangerous, and they know it might be hard to get insurance elsewhere later. The premiums go up every 5 years as you get older, but the payout remains the same until you are 65 then they start going down. By that time I guess they figure you have your financial affairs in order, and no more dependants. Most years they don’t pay out that much, so we even get a rebate on our premiums. Austin’s insurance is going to be through the Knight’s of Columbus. I am obnoxious about reading fine print. Just remember that insurance companies aren’t in business to pay you money. They are in business to make money for their investors.
Isn’t it great when you get rid of the weight you put on for a holiday or vacation? I guess in years past, I would have put on a certain number of pounds for every birthday, Christmas, etc. No wonder I got so heavy. It is so easy to go the other way. Peggy-when I started losing weight, the doctor, and especially the nurse acted so happy to see me. They were almost more excited about it than I was. I realized later that we are definitely the exception, not the rule. After about 175 pounds gone, he called me a science experiment, and that we were breaking new ground, and he didn’t know what to expect. Jill-sitting at home on vacation also suffers from the fact that people aren’t coming in to do the cooking and cleaning for me while I sit and read. I think I am going to ask himself to get me a Wii to help my exercise routines out. We don’t even have air conditioning here to break. I’ve never lived in a house before that didn’t have air until moving to Canada. I’d say that last summer we could have used it for about 2 weeks. That doesn’t seem like long enough to mess with it. We have two ceiling fans, and some smaller ones. He just fries when it gets above 75 F. That’s 24 C. I had to keep frozen wash rags in the freezer to put on his head when he came in because he’d get to where his brain wouldn’t work right. We did get to open the window for about a half an hour today. Yeah. And that is quite complicated here because the windows have air locks practically like a submarine. You have to undo this latch thing, then slide the first window, and then unlatch the second window, and then slide it open. I hope I never have to go out of it in a hurry, or I’ll be toast. Donna-I had a basset that hurt a vertebrae like that. We had a fender bender, and he must have fallen against the back of the seat. We had no idea he had been hurt. It healed okay, but he got used to me lifting him in the van after that so even after he healed, he’d put his front paws up, and turn and look at me as only a basset can do for “upsies.” He weighed 70 pounds, so it wasn’t like boosting a poodle in. It also put my face down at the level of the floor, so when he got in, he could turn around quickly and slurp my glasses. I was always having to clean them. He took great pleasure in doing it too. Then he’d hop up on the bench seat, which was higher than getting into the van I might add, with no problems. I am full of worthless information. I am really not someone you want to play trivial pursuit or jeopardy with, but I can’t remember my own phone number. My brain injury cost me about 20 IQ points in addition to swiss-cheesing my memory. My father got me started reading the newspaper when I was 3 years old, and I have basically read it every day since. I read front to back, even the obits, but not the classifieds. My parents were older (40 & 47), and my mom had lived on a farm, so they had a lot of old time knowledge on stuff. I was the youngest, and learned by watching my older brothers do stuff. Plus, my parents constantly struggled with trying to keep me occupied. When I was 8 my dad caught me taking apart my mom’s alarm clock. I didn’t tell him I had done it several times before. One of our neighbor’s was a telephone repairman and had an oven sized box of old broken phones. That was my birthday present. I just about dove into it head first. My grandmother worked at a department store, and brought me a shoe box of broken cosmetic jewelry to play with. I fixed most of it, and my mom gave them as Christmas presents that year. I started doing their taxes when I was 12. Who does that? They were having trouble with the guy who usually did them, and there was an instruction book, so I talked them into it. I sometimes wonder how I survived my childhood, or how my parents did. I also don’t like to tell people that I am trying to lose weight. That just starts conversations that I don’t like having. I do enjoy them looking at me trying to figure out why I look different. Those confused expressions are priceless. Kayley-Just make sure that it doesn’t swell to the point that blood flow is cut off. Wear a splint, and touch the tip to your lips every so often, and if it gets cold, go back to the doctor. Sometimes a blood vessel can leak so much that it fills the joint or cuts off the blood flow. If it feels like it goes to sleep too. Try sleeping with it up on a pillow to get some elevation to help drain it. I have long skinny fingers that were always getting into trouble. LAnne-I lost 2 shoe sizes after losing my weight, about 1 size for each 100 pounds. Now my shoe has gone up again because I’m walking everywhere. I’ve got different sized shoes like some people have 5 different sizes of clothes in their closet. I also expected my pants to get bigger around the waist as I lost weight, but they also seem to have gotten longer. I put elastic in the bottom of all my pants now, and bungee cord drawstring in the waists. It saves me a lot of work taking things up. I only alter pants when the crotch gets to the point of hanging to my knees. Annie-I was talking to himself about you on our walk this morning. He always asks how the fat chicks are doing, and I told him that you lost 13.5 pounds last week and I was jealous. He said to tell you that he was happy for you, and to hang in there because we all know liquid diets are hard. You’re doing great. He said your husband might have trouble catching you if you lose it too quick. Michelle-I’d better have had one, or I was fixing to go Terminator on my scales, and probably a wall or two. I’ve already broken a toe kicking the scales in anger, and I felt really silly having to tell the doctor how it happened. My toes are really long and skinny like my fingers are, and they do get in the way sometimes. Sometimes when I just feel miserable like that, I’ve found it is because my blood pressure is up. It could also just be your thyroid. I hope you get to feeling better soon. I know there is nothing worse that being sick and tired of being sick and tired. Emily-Isn’t it interesting that the food we used to turn to to make us happy actually makes us sick. When I get too much salt, in addition to feeling bloated, I just feel miserable. It’s like I’ve totally screwed my electrolytes. Just drink lots of water to flush it out, and you’ll feel better soon. I’m off to make enchiladas for a dinner party. I make my own tortillas to closely watch what goes into them, and I use chicken breast in mine, and thighs and cheese for the company. I’ll have mostly salad. Dessert is going to be sopapillas with guava marmalade on them. Canadians eat pretty bland food most of the time, so when he mentioned to a friend that I was making enchiladas, everyone started inviting themselves over. He likes having people over, I like cooking, so I can’t complain. I just make mine, and they have theirs, and no one seems to notice that I’m not eating the same stuff. |
Donna - glad to have helped with the photo thing. I loved seeing the photos and give over, you don’t look like a matronly aunt at all. You look really lovely and I think that dress is gorgeous!
I’m sorry that your dog hurt herself, she’s lucky to have such an observant owner and that you took her to the vet and got her some meds etc which have really helped. How about your headache, had it gone now? I ended up having a bad one myself this morning, it ended up so bad that this time it was my fault that Daren and I didn’t go to the gym! Ooops! My WI went well thanks for asking, I lost 4 lbs :broc: Kayley - so glad that you went to have your finger looked at and that it’s not broken. I hope keeping it iced and resting it will help it get better soon. Lilion - great news about you eating well and getting your exercise done today :cp: LAnne - It’s weird isn’t it that we lose weight off our feet! I remember once on a diet of old I was messing around threatening to kick my ex, (wish I had really done it now lol) anyway my shoe came flying off because I had lost weight and the shoe was much looser than it used to be. Sadly the shoe didn’t hit him either  Annie - OK I’ll admit that Dean is nice too, but only because I can see a resemblance between him and the dad. I wonder if they are in any way related? Patti - thanks for the congrats on my weight loss, I’ll let you off not mentioning it earlier seeing as you’ve not been well  Valerie - how did this little guy miss my eye on the list :bunny2: I thank you for using him :D OK I guess it doesn’t seem like you think you’ll be going up in the blimp, you’ll just have to look out for another raffle another time  Thanks for the congrats, much appreciated  Michelle - thanks for the congrats on my weight loss, it’s wonderful to see the scales going down again :cp: Sorry that you are feeling so unwell, I hope the tests you have done will shed some light on what’s causing you to feel so bad and that it’s easily remedied  Em - it’s amazing isn’t it how many Dr Who things are on the market. I bought a load for Caleigh last Christmas. I am glad George had a good birthday. There’s something to be said about how bad you felt after over eating, you are definitely making great changes to your body. Good for you for getting back on track today though  :cp: Catherine - never a truer word said that that about Insurance Companies being totally in it to make money for their investors! Yes it’s wonderful to lose lbs that you gain on a certain occasion. I fully intend to allow myself to gain weight at Christmas and birthdays but I also fully intend to lose it straight away afterwards, no more gaining, and gaining, and gaining for me  Hugs, Ammi :chicken: |
Thanks for all the well-wishes!!! My finger is still hurting a LOT, but I can sorta type now...although, I'm not going to push it! I went and looked at a car today, and I'm in loooove. It's a 2005 Chevy Cavalier silver 2 door
I'll know by tomorrow if it's MINE! :D I'm heading to the gym in about an hour. :) I'll try and hop back on here later on! :D |
Well, I just got back from the gym. I did the treadmill for 25 minutes. I wanted to stop at 20, because my finger started hurting from the bouncing...but I stuck it out for those last 5 minutes!!! :) Victory for Kayley. Boo to finger! :D
|
Oh, and when I went to the doctor, I was pleasantly surprised to see that their scale was the EXACT same one that we have!! So the weights were actually the same! Usually when I went to the doctor, there would be a 5-10 lb difference in my weight...usually higher! So, I didn't get all depressed like usual. ;)

Just a quick fly- by... I'm reading all your lovely posts, celebrating your losses and grieving over... well, all the things that need grieving..
I've been scarce around here because work is just flat out crazy. I am putting in 10-12 hour days, plus trying to keep up with life. Last week was awful, with 2 Drs appts, cleaning the house for visitors plus a crazy work week. This week isn't much better. I am facing a mountain of grading and other work tasks that just won't go away!!! It's likely to be like this for the next 6 weeks or so and then blissful relief! So, I just wanted to say "hi"! And let you know I'm thinking of you all! |
Annie WTG!!! I KNEW you'd have a brilliant loss, makes it all worthwhile!!xxxxxx
LAnne, great on dropping shoe sizes, I hope you get to go to dance classes, exercise is SO much better when it's something you enjoy!xxxxxx Donna, you are very prettty, I love your pets, you cat has the most beautiful green eyes, just like jade, even if he is a bit porky, lol. Your dog is pretty cute too, my parents, myself & both sisters have always had Staffordshire Bull Terriers, like small pit-bulls, yours is a cross? You can see the 'type' though, I've always found them very loyal & playful dogs.xxxxxx I have had a couple of really bad days, the boys have been off school ill, Steve has been a g*t & i've been down, always am a bit after TOM. I've eaten & I'm expecting a gain, even though I know my calories are low, the diet I'm on is affected differently by 'normal foods' BUT I'm back OP & feeling better. Thanks Ammi, for 'listening' it means a lot. WTG on losing FOUR pounds!!!xxxxxxx I have to go & do stuff, xxxsharon |
