Default Quiz on "Lifestyle Changes"

I just thought this would get us looking at improvements that we have made in our lives, even when those 'cursed' scales aren't telling us what we want them to.

I figure that if you answer "YES" to ANY of the following, then you have made a wonderful step in the right direction for a healthier "you".

*****

Since you decided to change your life do you:

1. Make time in your busy daily schedule to fit in some form of exercise on most days of the week?

2. Find that if you don't exercise, you get a little 'jittery'?

3. Find yourself naturally levitating towards 'healthy' food, rather than the treats you used to eat?

4. Find that 'treats' are exactly that... treats... and you only have them now and again, not all day every day?

5. Automatically read the nutrition labels on packaged food that you are not used to buying?

6. Look at packaged food or recipes and think "How could I make that healthier?"

7. Find that many of the foods that you 'used' to eat now make you ill, as your system just can't handle them?

8. Find that drinks you used to drink, now taste SOOOO sweet and you wonder how you ever drank them?

9. Find yourself taking the stairs, or walking that little bit further, just to add to your exercise minutes or to increase your fitness level?

10. Find yourself amazed almost on a daily basis by what you are now able to do that you couldn't do before?

11. Find yourself wanting to "save" those around you from their bad habits?

*****

I think that is about all I can think of at the moment, but I'm sure you can think of more.

Have a wonderful day!

Zelma

Default My answers

Since you decided to change your life do you:

1. Make time in your busy daily schedule to fit in some form of exercise on most days of the week? YES - But it means getting up quite early

2. Find that if you don't exercise, you get a little 'jittery'? YES - I actually find myself heading towards the treadmill, even though I know it is a 'rest' day

3. Find yourself naturally levetating towards 'healthy' food, rather than the treats you used to eat? YES - and it makes me feel SO powerful!

4. Find that 'treats' are exactly that... treats... and you only have them now and again, not all day every day? YES - Other than icecream, which my dietician friend has told me to have on most days, to cut other cravings.

5. Automatically read the nutrition labels on packaged food that you are not used to buying? YES - Even though it takes a LOT longer to shop now.

6. Look at packaged food or recipes and think "How could I make that healthier?" YES - I haven't 'followed' a recipe for a LONG time.

7. Find that many of the foods that you 'used' to eat now make you ill, as your system just can't handle them? YES - In fact, that is what stops me from eating most of those things. I know I will regret it later.

8. Find that drinks you used to drink, now taste SOOOO sweet and you wonder how you ever drank them? YES - I dilute most of my drinks now, or just have water.

9. Find yourself taking the stairs, or walking that little bit further, just to add to your exercise minutes or to increase your fitness level? YES - I actually LIKE parking further away from places, just to get in that extra bit of walking. And I often want to go back to the bottom of the stairs and go up again, as it is a thrill to actually be able to walk up stairs now.

10. Find yourself amazed almost on a daily basis by what you are now able to do that you couldn't do before? YES - I often have been doing something for ages before I remember that I couldn't do that a few years ago.

11. Find yourself wanting to "save" those around you from their bad habits? YES - But I refrain from doing anything about it unless people ask me for advice.

great idea!!

Since you decided to change your life do you:

1. Make time in your busy daily schedule to fit in some form of exercise on most days of the week? YES -- whether I want to or not (usually not!)

2. Find that if you don't exercise, you get a little 'jittery'? YES, sometimes, but this time of year when it's so cold I don't feel it so much

3. Find yourself naturally levetating towards 'healthy' food, rather than the treats you used to eat? well, I don't 'levitate' per se but I do find myself craving things like fruit and other healthy foods more than I thought possible. Not that I don't miss some old favorites from time to time

4. Find that 'treats' are exactly that... treats... and you only have them now and again, not all day every day? YES -- and NO. I have let some treats back into my life a little too much and need to watch that!

5. Automatically read the nutrition labels on packaged food that you are not used to buying? YES! Absolutely!

6. Look at packaged food or recipes and think "How could I make that healthier?" YES, always!

7. Find that many of the foods that you 'used' to eat now make you ill, as your system just can't handle them? NO -- I haven't really had that happen.

8. Find that drinks you used to drink, now taste SOOOO sweet and you wonder how you ever drank them? NO -- but I never drank full cal sodas or other really sweet drinks

9. Find yourself taking the stairs, or walking that little bit further, just to add to your exercise minutes or to increase your fitness level? YES! I now walk to the 5th floor of our admin building whenever I have to go there. Because I can and because it's good for me!

10. Find yourself amazed almost on a daily basis by what you are now able to do that you couldn't do before? Yes, constantlY!

11. Find yourself wanting to "save" those around you from their bad habits? hmm... secretly, YES, but I avoid doing anything about it.

6. Look at packaged food or recipes and think "How could I make that healthier?" Definately.

7. Find that many of the foods that you 'used' to eat now make you ill, as your system just can't handle them? Yes, a couple of things.

9. Find yourself taking the stairs, or walking that little bit further, just to add to your exercise minutes or to increase your fitness level? No. My knees and back are still in bad shape.

Since you decided to change your life do you:

1. Make time in your busy daily schedule to fit in some form of exercise on most days of the week? Yes, first thing in the morning.

2. Find that if you don't exercise, you get a little 'jittery'? Yes, jittery, bloated and strangely lethargic all in one.

3. Find yourself naturally levetating towards 'healthy' food, rather than the treats you used to eat? Yes, I can survey a menu and find the best choices easily. More and more, I find that I don't want to eat out because they won't have all of the vegetable choices that I like.

4. Find that 'treats' are exactly that... treats... and you only have them now and again, not all day every day? Yes

5. Automatically read the nutrition labels on packaged food that you are not used to buying? Absolutely yes.

6. Look at packaged food or recipes and think "How could I make that healthier?" Well I buy very little packaged foods, but I do look at recipes at try to decide how I could add more veggies, or could I leave out the sugar, etc.

7. Find that many of the foods that you 'used' to eat now make you ill, as your system just can't handle them? They don't make me ill, but so much of it tastes so rich that I only want a bite or two.

8. Find that drinks you used to drink, now taste SOOOO sweet and you wonder how you ever drank them? I drink water for 95% of my drinks now.

9. Find yourself taking the stairs, or walking that little bit further, just to add to your exercise minutes or to increase your fitness level? Yes, now I look for a parking spot further from the door, and take the stairs any opportunity I have.

10. Find yourself amazed almost on a daily basis by what you are now able to do that you couldn't do before? Yes!

11. Find yourself wanting to "save" those around you from their bad habits? I notice things that others do and think to myself "I used to do that". I don't say anything to anyone though, because I can remember how unappreciative I was of well-meaning advice.

Since you decided to change your life do you:

1. Make time in your busy daily schedule to fit in some form of exercise on most days of the week?Yes I do!

2. Find that if you don't exercise, you get a little 'jittery'?Yep...I feel like I left the iron on or something - like I've forgotten something important all day!

3. Find yourself naturally levitating towards 'healthy' food, rather than the treats you used to eat? Well, I don't know about naturally, but I do think about every bite and usually make a better choice.

4. Find that 'treats' are exactly that... treats... and you only have them now and again, not all day every day?Oh yeah! I enjoy it more now when I fit it in.

5. Automatically read the nutrition labels on packaged food that you are not used to buying? Every single item!

6. Look at packaged food or recipes and think "How could I make that healthier?" I have comuter files full of them!

7. Find that many of the foods that you 'used' to eat now make you ill, as your system just can't handle them? That depends on how much I eat, as I haven't really cut anything out entirely.

8. Find that drinks you used to drink, now taste SOOOO sweet and you wonder how you ever drank them? No, but that's because I've drank nothing but diet since I was a teen.

9. Find yourself taking the stairs, or walking that little bit further, just to add to your exercise minutes or to increase your fitness level?Yep!

10. Find yourself amazed almost on a daily basis by what you are now able to do that you couldn't do before?Yes - often!

11. Find yourself wanting to "save" those around you from their bad habits?Oh yes, mostly total strangers. I was sitting having a pretzel (turned out to be 7 points with my son at the mall and kept seeing how many very overweight people were there buying fried, greasy food! It makes me sad - and I never EVER used to think about other peoples health like that. My husband has said if we ever win the lottery he want's to start a "healthy" restaurant - where everything is low-cal and delish!

1. Make time in your busy daily schedule to fit in some form of exercise on most days of the week? Yes, I exercise every day so far since December I haven't skipped one single day.

2. Find that if you don't exercise, you get a little 'jittery'? Well, I haven't skipped a day yet but the thought of it makes me nervous.

3. Find yourself naturally levitating towards 'healthy' food, rather than the treats you used to eat? Yes. I think I want something naughy then I get to the frig and change my mind and go for something good for me.

4. Find that 'treats' are exactly that... treats... and you only have them now and again, not all day every day? Yes, I haven't had a treat at all so, there are not any special days yet that will tempt me to go off my program. A Reses Peanut Butter cup which is my favorite isn't worth the guilt.

5. Automatically read the nutrition labels on packaged food that you are not used to buying? Yes and I'm usually unpleasantly surprised and the stuff written there.

6. Look at packaged food or recipes and think "How could I make that healthier?" No, I haven't bought much packaged food yet.

7. Find that many of the foods that you 'used' to eat now make you ill, as your system just can't handle them? I haven't eaten old foods. lol

8. Find that drinks you used to drink, now taste SOOOO sweet and you wonder how you ever drank them? I can't even imagine wasting my colories or points on drinking a Pepsi. I don't like the taste of diet sodas so, I just continue to drink water and Ice tea with no sugar.

9. Find yourself taking the stairs, or walking that little bit further, just to add to your exercise minutes or to increase your fitness level? Not yet. I think it will come in time. I am still pretty insecure of my body and don't want to be in public as much as I can help it.

10. Find yourself amazed almost on a daily basis by what you are now able to do that you couldn't do before? Yes. I never honestly thought I would be able to exercise like I have been and keep it up for this is going on my third month in a row. I used to give up or hurt myself after 2 or 3 weeks max.

11. Find yourself wanting to "save" those around you from their bad habits? So far just my hubby. I feel like I don't have any business trying to help other people because I am still so obese.

1. Make time in your busy daily schedule to fit in some form of exercise on most days of the week?
Yes, but I do have the weekends off

2. Find that if you don't exercise, you get a little 'jittery'?
A definite no for this one.

3. Find yourself naturally levitating towards 'healthy' food, rather than the treats you used to eat?
Yes, it's weird but great. At Christmas when I was thinking what chocolates I would like for my treat I really couldn't choose. I didn't even want my ususal faves. I did end up with chocs thanks to Daren, more Aussie lovelies but even they weren't as lovely as I remember them

4. Find that 'treats' are exactly that... treats... and you only have them now and again, not all day every day?

Yes.

5. Automatically read the nutrition labels on packaged food that you are not used to buying?

Yes.

6. Look at packaged food or recipes and think "How could I make that healthier?"
Yes.

7. Find that many of the foods that you 'used' to eat now make you ill, as your system just can't handle them?
No, not found that yet, but do find I can't eat as much of them now.

8. Find that drinks you used to drink, now taste SOOOO sweet and you wonder how you ever drank them?
No.

9. Find yourself taking the stairs, or walking that little bit further, just to add to your exercise minutes or to increase your fitness level?
Yes. In shops that have stairs right next to the escalators I always take the stairs. I can't help but think how lazy all the ones on the escalators are

10. Find yourself amazed almost on a daily basis by what you are now able to do that you couldn't do before?
Absolutely YES, many times a day. It's one of the things that really helps me keep motivated.

11. Find yourself wanting to "save" those around you from their bad habits?
Yes, especially Beth with her LOVE of full sugar soda!!

Zelma - I really enjoyed filling this in, and reading other people's answers

Since you decided to change your life do you:

1. Make time in your busy daily schedule to fit in some form of exercise on most days of the week?
Well, I only recently started exercising, but I've been staying on schedule thus far. I've even been exercising longer each time than I thought I'd be able to.

2. Find that if you don't exercise, you get a little 'jittery'?
Well, no, but I haven't been exercising that long.

3. Find yourself naturally levitating towards 'healthy' food, rather than the treats you used to eat?
Yes, completely. I haven't regretted changing my eating habits at all, and find myself not even wanting the treat foods at all!

4. Find that 'treats' are exactly that... treats... and you only have them now and again, not all day every day?
Yes. In the few weeks I've been dieting, I've only had one "treat", and even that was small in portion. It was a piece of King Cake (Mardi Gras thing), and I found myself gagging a little because it seemed so much sweeter than it used to.

5. Automatically read the nutrition labels on packaged food that you are not used to buying?
Oh, I've always done that. It's just now that I -care- what the label says.

6. Look at packaged food or recipes and think "How could I make that healthier?"
I probably would, except that I've been staying away from packaged food almost entirely (I buy my groceries from the perimeter of the store mostly... produce, meat, dairy). I also usually "invent" my own recipes.

7. Find that many of the foods that you 'used' to eat now make you ill, as your system just can't handle them?
Not ill so much as that they just don't taste as good as I remember. Probably a little bit of subconscious guilt there.

8. Find that drinks you used to drink, now taste SOOOO sweet and you wonder how you ever drank them?
I've never really leaned towards sugary drinks. I've always been a fan of water or iced tea sweetened with Sweet n Low.

9. Find yourself taking the stairs, or walking that little bit further, just to add to your exercise minutes or to increase your fitness level?
No, but that's because most of the day I'm at school and usually running late, so I try and find the closest parking space, etc. I know, I should just get there earlier, but I make up for it with my exercise session!!! Haha.

10. Find yourself amazed almost on a daily basis by what you are now able to do that you couldn't do before?
Physically? I haven't gotten to that point yet. However, mentally, being able to choose healthy foods for myself amazes me. I never thought that I'd be happy with anything other than junk food, but I surprised myself. Big time.

11. Find yourself wanting to "save" those around you from their bad habits?
Not save, but maybe inspire. It would be nice if others would look at me and say, "Well, if she can kick the junk food habit, so can I!" I think nutritional education is a big thing, so if one of my friends who is wanting to lose weight asks me about eating healthier, I'll let them know what I've learned from everyone here, as well as from health magazines, etc.

Talking

** I don’t regularly post in this forum but I can pass up a survey! I’m addicted to them... really, it's bad! **

1.Make time in your busy daily schedule to fit in some form of exercise on most days of the week?
Yes, if I don’t I feel guilty! Although I usually take Wednesdays and Fridays off and stay clear of the gym on the weekends so I walk my dog for and hour and a half around my home area.

2. Find that if you don't exercise, you get a little 'jittery'?
Not really jittery, but a loss in energy

3. Find yourself naturally levitating towards 'healthy' food, rather than the treats you used to eat?
A definite YES! I have stuck to my eating habits for a good year and am very conscious. Although i do have my slip-ups and let myself indulge every now and then...

4. Find that 'treats' are exactly that... treats... and you only have them now and again, not all day every day?
I ahve a HUGE sweet tooth and sometimes it gets the best of me, but I limit it and pick small yet satisfying choices.

5. Automatically read the nutrition labels on packaged food that you are not used to buying?

YUP

6. Look at packaged food or recipes and think "How could I make that healthier?"
Always

7. Find that many of the foods that you 'used' to eat now make you ill, as your system just can't handle them?
I cant handle greasy food anymore. It sits in my stomach and makes me nauseas... YUCK!

8. Find that drinks you used to drink, now taste SOOOO sweet and you wonder how you ever drank them?
I am so used to "light" tasting or sugar free tasting beverages that the "real" stuff is too strong.. so I guess thats a yes

9. Find yourself taking the stairs, or walking that little bit further, just to add to your exercise minutes or to increase your fitness level?
Always, I even park far away from the store front
10. Find yourself amazed almost on a daily basis by what you are now able to do that you couldn't do before?
Its always an improvement!

11. Find yourself wanting to "save" those around you from their bad habits?
People that I meet that are overweight and not caring or even my family members that are inactive I just want them to see the big picture and realize that this is their health. Its funny because I want to go to school to become a fitness guide or counselor for health. I feel it is SOOO important to teach this when society is so extreme... either anorexic thin or obese.

thanks for letting me reply!

Since you decided to change your life do you:

1. Make time in your busy daily schedule to fit in some form of exercise on most days of the week? Yes, In fact when I go to visit my parents going to take a WATP so I can get something in when I'm not home

2. Find that if you don't exercise, you get a little 'jittery'? I won't say jittery, but i am annoyed with myself and more eager the next day. Ok LOL maybe that is jittery

3. Find yourself naturally levitating towards 'healthy' food, rather than the treats you used to eat? Yeah, I have just discovered the organic food section and love all the new "good" foods I've found. Made hummus for the first time yesterday

4. Find that 'treats' are exactly that... treats... and you only have them now and again, not all day every day? I can now work by the ice cream section without a panic attack, LOL. Rarely tempted anymore, kinda nice

5. Automatically read the nutrition labels on packaged food that you are not used to buying? I Just did this for the first time on the "big" shopping trip and was in the store for a little over 2 hours. Before I could have done everything in 45 min

6. Look at packaged food or recipes and think "How could I make that healthier?" Hmmm, Usually if I find something in the main part of the grocery I check the organic version and see what I want to do. Also know I don't assume I have to have meat with every meal

7. Find that many of the foods that you 'used' to eat now make you ill, as your system just can't handle them? Ah...I won't say ill, but i had a junior burger from a store and it just wasn't nearly as appetizing as I remember it.

8. Find that drinks you used to drink, now taste SOOOO sweet and you wonder how you ever drank them?yeah, again. Most things just don't taste as wonderful as they used too.

9. Find yourself taking the stairs, or walking that little bit further, just to add to your exercise minutes or to increase your fitness level? I'm never going to like walking up stairs even now when they don't cause me much trouble, but I rarely park close to the store.

10. Find yourself amazed almost on a daily basis by what you are now able to do that you couldn't do before? Heck yeah, LOL. Stairs, walking, more energy in general.

11. Find yourself wanting to "save" those around you from their bad habits? HMM, I think weightloss is pretty personal, but if someone asks a question I am full of information. Also trying to point people here because there is now way I would have this much success without 3FC

Default WOW! What a difference!

I always like to say that I am making a lifestyle change, but never really realized how much I was until I looked at this quiz.

Thanks Zelma for helping me realize how much I am!

*****************************************

1. Make time in your busy daily schedule to fit in some form of exercise on most days of the week? We have a gym at work and I workout most days after work before going home and getting ready for bed. If I can't do it, I try to come into work early or do it on my lunch break (if my workout partner isn't at work).

2. Find that if you don't exercise, you get a little 'jittery'? DEFINITELY! I'm constantly looking for ways to get it in on my off days. Mostly coming from walking back and forth to class and walking around in the darkroom.

3. Find yourself naturally levitating towards 'healthy' food, rather than the treats you used to eat? YES - It's empowering!

4. Find that 'treats' are exactly that... treats... and you only have them now and again, not all day every day? YES - If I get one piece of cheesecake (my favorite by the way), it takes me two days to eat it. (I don't make them at home anymore by the way. I could eat the whole thing. Better to have one piece.)

5. Automatically read the nutrition labels on packaged food that you are not used to buying? YES - Can't help it. If I don't like the calories from the first glimpse, I put it back.

6. Look at packaged food or recipes and think "How could I make that healthier?" YES - Enough said

7. Find that many of the foods that you 'used' to eat now make you ill, as your system just can't handle them? YES - Especially greasy food (esp. fried chicken & french fries)

8. Find that drinks you used to drink, now taste SOOOO sweet and you wonder how you ever drank them? DEFINITELY - Used to drink Pepsi religiously, now WOAH TOO SWEET. Now only water, Sprite Zero & Occasional Sweet Tea (That's sweet too)

9. Find yourself taking the stairs, or walking that little bit further, just to add to your exercise minutes or to increase your fitness level? YES - Especially at work and school, unless more than two flights (haven't gotten that far yet to make three flights or more)

10. Find yourself amazed almost on a daily basis by what you are now able to do that you couldn't do before? YES - I'm jogging on the treadmill (gradually increasing the amount of time I am jogging)

11. Find yourself wanting to "save" those around you from their bad habits? DEFINITELY - I have a competition going on with my sister (she's lost about 17 pounds) & another competition at work with five other ladies. (I'm winning both by the way!!!)

Thanks AGAIN!!
