Interesting fact I heard on TV
OK, your body is made up of so much muscled and so much fat. Muscle burns more calories then fat does, so we start out able to burn most of the cals we eat. A little weight creeps up, and we go on a diet, we lose muscle as well as fat. Fall off the diet, and we gain the fat back, but not the muscle. Try another diet, same thing happens we lose more muscle and fat, fall off the diet again. We gain the fat back (and then some) but not the muscle. You see what happens? Our calorie burner (muscle) is disappearing. This explains why its so hard to lose weight over time. And why we have to work harder to lose the weight, and can't eat like we used to. I don't know about ya'll, but this really modivates me to work out.
