Good evening everyone,

ARB: Welcome! I'm sure you will find lots of support here! We are all here for the same thing. Getting our hineys in gear.

Lauren: I hope Peter is much better by now. It sucks so bad to have the little ones be sick. Alex just got over a nasty cold. DH didn't put salt down or anything yesterday, so we have a sheet of ice in the front too. He's going to have to put some out in the AM 'cause we have a playdate here tomorrow!

Did fair with eating today. I made Enchiladas for dinner, but I only ate two. And I used whole wheat tortillas. They were actually pretty good.

I got a call from the doctor's office that I did indeed have a UTI. Yummy. Now I'm on antibiotics for the next seven days. I went ahead and started acidopholis (sp?) to combat any "other" infections from flairing up. Ugh. Maybe they'll clear up the sinus infection too! LOL. Probably not, but hey, a girl can wish!

Cool Good Morning All!

Good Morning!!

Wow, this really is a great group of people! It's nice to see we all are conquering and struggling with the same things. Karen, what a gorgeous family you have! I have been keeping a fitness journal to see what I am doing. Kinda like that food journal. I wasn't sure exactly what I was getting accomplished at the gym. To my surprise, I do much more than I thought. I am really, really afraid of those food journals....that really scares me! I also started eating breakfast....that's a tough one for me. I worked 2nd shift from the time I was 16 (a junior in high school) til I was 28. Breakfast is no earlier that 10-11am....not anymore! I set my alarm for 5am....now, I do play snooze tag with it...some mornings til 6am or so...but I get up and eat oatmeal. It's been a couple weeks now...and I have to say, I am hungry and headed right for it now when I get up....with my coffee, that is.
So, that is what is going on with me. My kids are back to school this morning....woohoo....but after watching the weather, I am thinking snow day tomorrow!! Ugh!!
Hugs to all!!

Default Hi guys...can I join you?

Hello all.

Everyone seems like a friendly bunch here...hope you don't mind me joining in.

I'm 33, been trying to get back to pre-baby weight (which was 7yrs ago!!!!) of 57kg and unsuccessful so far.

However, I stopped smoking last year which I'm very proud of and it's taken me a good 4 months to get used to that fact. Didn't put any extra weight on which was huge for me, but a couple of kilos jumped on over Christmas and I'm ready to get rid of the lot!

I have 2 kiddies (6 & 7), husband works away and I work at home so my best excuse is always "no time". Well, I used to find the time to sit down and smoke / drink coffee so there should be at least 30 mins every day to spare I reckon.

Wish me luck, glad to be here, and I intend to report in every day in order to stay accountable with my plans.

Tam

Hi Tam

I'm 37 and I'm *just* quitting smoking I hope I don't gain even more from it, but as long as I'm focusing like I am now, I have the feeling I won't.

I've already cut down quite a bit since the new year, but honestly, I'm so sick of it and I really want to become more healthy. My BF smokes and he's trying to quit... but I'm just weak when he's having one...

No, I decided today, that I was finished. I had 4 yesterday and this morning when I woke up I just thought "Why?" So I've had none. And I don't want to. I'll make my BF smoke on the balcony if he wishes to continue.

Good Morning Everyone. This is day 3 on my diet and so far so good....BABY STEPS.....I have been setting my alarm on my cell phone when I do my excercises and let me tell ya 5 minutes seems to last a lot longer...lol. I have done my excercises faithfully for 3 days which is a triump in itself. I guess my biggest obstacle is drinking the water in replace of coffee and tea but I am doing it. Stay Positive Everyone.....

I "quit" smoking about 6 yrs ago when I met dh. He didn't smoke and I didn't smoke when I was with him. It got to be that we were together all the time so I just decided. I did have a few times that I slipped back but as of August of '02 was the last cigarette ever! I have not looked back. It is hard but you just have to tell yourself that it is better for you. Take it one at a time. At the first craving tell yourself "no." Same thing at the second one. A little at a time. You can do it!!

Now as for my weight loss...that has been non existant for a while. I am no where near making my birthday goal. I have decided to go to WW. For real this time. I know I said it before but I have called my best friend and we are going to a meeting tomorrow night. We have the kind of friendship where we can tell each other honestly how it is. I can get her back on track and she can do the same for me. It is going to take discipline. I can do this. I think I am also going to start a food journal. I always thought they were silly but I think I can actually "see" what I'm eating I can say "ok no more of that."

OK I've rambled on long enough. I guess I was just kind of psyching myself up for the challenge. LOL Have a great day everyone!

Default A Positive Start To My Day

Good morning all.

I got up this morning and instead of rushing (it's school hols here) I sat down and ate breakfast with a cup of coffee and a motivating self-help book - in my nightie! I think I might do that again this week, what a lovely start to the day.

Velveteen: stay strong, it is so worth it! Every New Year I think "I will stop smoking" and I often do, but then I start again. This New Year, I spent a week with 7 smokers (one of them is my husband) and I thought "why don't I just have one". Crazy!

The thing that changed my perspective was an advert on the radio for people who plan to quit in the New Year and I thought "wow, normally I would be listening avidly hoping the advert would give me the answer so I could stop in the New Year" but for the first time, I was truly glad that I have already stopped and I feel great.

My husband smokes too, as does a girlfriend with whom I spend a lot of time, but trust me, it gets easier.

Got a busy day ahead, so I'm glad I started it relaxed and motivated....bye for now, Tammie
