Karen - What is it about Thomas ? My youngest Jake, 4 LOVES Thomas still, he has liked him since he could play with his big brothers toys ... lol Kyle,5 I think has "grown" out of them a bit, he will still play with them, but not as much as Jake does. Do y'all have any of the movies ? You can get them at Wal Mart that sometimes come with a free train !
Oh I am sooo glad I don't have children. Thomas the Tank Engine and Barney used to drive me up the wall in daycare. I don't know.
"Just going and having to weigh-in in front of someone wasn't enough. I needed to loose more than my friend." That would be me Karen. I am sooo competitive, that it isn't even funny. I have never done WW, but I know that would be me. It also helps to have someone to be accountable to. At least in my oppinion.
I understand the "competition" aspect too ... I was going with my Mom and was doing well, I also wanted to do better than her ... I know, I am sad, lol .... My problem with "dieting" in general ... is after a point, I just get tired of "watching" "counting" , heck maybe even being accountable !! Then I fall off the wagon ....
And as far as Thomas is concerned, my DH downloaded about 30 episodes of it and burned it to DVD for my son !!
Hi everyone. New here and anxious to get motivated. My name is Dianna. I'm a 38 y/o, divorced/single mother of three teenagers. I'm hoping to get to know some/all of you and find the motivation and accountibility that I need.
Thank you Norissa for the welcome. This site is quite extensive. I imagine it will take a while to get through it all. Congrats on the 12lb loss. Hopefully soon my tracker will be moving down too.
Peter really has no idea who Thomas is. I mean, I'm sure he's seen it at daycare or something, but usually they watch Barney or the Wiggles, if they watch any TV. I got soo sick of Barney back in the early 90's when I ws nannying. But Peter seems to like him a little, and also Blues Clues. Today it was on and he was mesmerized! I don't mind BC...besides, Joe is kinda cute in his own way! We've switched back to PBS in the AMs, because Disney switched their schedule around AGAIN :tantrum and now the freakin' Doodlebops are on at 6:30.
Karen, Glad Alex seems OK and it was just a fluke. I took Peter to the Dr. this AM because he complained his ear hurt when I picked him up yesterday and he was really hot. When I got home he had a 104° temp!! Thankfully ibuprofen brought it down within an hour. These sick boys are driving me nuts!!
Gotta run, will chat more later if I get a chance!!
Norissa: Yep, we go through the same thing! When the credits roll he starts with the "more train, more train!". We have Tivo and we record a bunch then burn them to DVD. I have DH make two copies, one for upstairs and one for downstairs. We got two of his trains with the movies. Once I saw how much he loved them and we only had TWO episodes we had to go get a couple DVD's. The same two playing over and over was driving me crazy.
Lisa: come on, Thomas I can take, but Barney? Ugh! I think he should be taken out and shot. I can't stand him. If I have my way Alex will never know that he exists.
Diana: Welcome! Jump right in and make yourself to home (as they say down south!).
I feel the pain of having kids with an obsession...K was freaking out cuz "Nee" was on no tv stations..She was flicking the channels crying for "Nee" so I ran to a Walmart in Michigan, bought a portable DVD player and a 3 pk of Barney and she was fine..I listened to Barney in the car for the 1500 mile ride!!! I even missed the purple creep today!!!hahaha

Diana, hello and welcome! I am 32 divorced w/ no children. My name is Lisa. From your "handle" I take it you like country music. Who is your favorites? I like pretty much all of them. (At least the more current ones.)

Oh no ... LOL I don't know if I could handle that much Barney !!! My kids never really "got into" the big purple dinosaur ... Thank Goodness !!
Hi all, I joined last week. I'm 37, newly serperated from my husband (not by my choice) mom to 3..Nicholas 18, Chase 12, and Caeleigh 2 1/2. I started job hunting this week...so scarey!!! I haven't worked in 10 years..been doing the stay at home mom thing. All I have wanted to do is binge eat..thank goodness for my lapband I guess ..it won't let me do the dirty things I want to do. There is no Barney or Thomas the Tank here.. It's "The Doodle Bops" which is wway way worse....trust me.. My little one likes Dora too but I can handle Dora.
I have never seen the Doodle Bops ... guess I am one of the lucky ones ...LOL Actually we have been "switching" over to the "older" kids cartoons lately because of my 8 year old ... she is too big to watch those "baby shows" ... kids !!
Hi Tiffy ... welcome .. I just joined this week ... sorry to hear about your seperation ... I cannot image being there. *hugs*
Tiffy, hi and welcome! I know what you're going through is extremely tough right now. I was married almost ten years, and then my ex and I seperated. I moved back to Toledo, OH where my parents are and had to search for a new job and everything. I have been divorced for just over a year, and believe it or not, I am much better off. (It was my choice to leave, that's the only difference.)
If you can't find a job, try going back to school. There are great programs through financial aid at most schools. That is what I am doing now. And if your 18 year old decides to go to school, it will be even better for the two of you. (Just a thought)
If you need to vent that's fine, we are here for support and comfort. I have been where you are right now (without kids) and you will get through it. It may not seem like it now, but it will happen.
Norrissa, I love all of those too. Don't forget Toby Kieth, Martina McBride, and so many more.
