Good MOrning all!!!
Karen and Lauren--we are seeing the Wiggles in August also here in N.O. I didnt want the floor seats cuz everyone stands up so I got the Hot Potato seats....Of course the little one is obsessed now with "Nee"(Barney)I am waiting again for Dragon Tales to come..THey put on a great show and really fly..She was too young to remember them the last time they came here. She is getting worse and worse for getting into things..Last night, she emptied out all the dish towels, plastic bags, goldfish crackers and juice on the kitchen floor and was laughing and rolling in it--then she climbed into the tub with Sissy with all her clothes on...She is soo funny now...Of course, she wakes up at 5am on my day off today... Oh well..it was sleeping later than 3:00 like normal!!!

LB--I have done a few 1/2 Marathons..It wasnt too bad if U use the trainer guide on the internet..Before baby days, I would do 8 miles/day..I loved it and really want to get back into it...I never did things to "win" I did them to finish...It sure was a great weight loss maintainer..In 2001, I was wearing a size 1 and weighing about 105lbs and eating whatever..I just have to get back into the excercise..That is the key to it all...

Hello again Lori--Glad to see you are back!!!
Lisa--Glad the burn is better!!
Well..off to get the day started...I have shopping to do, cards to write, gymnastics class etc etc..I love that extra day off during the week...It is almost worth the 4--10 hr shifts starting at 4:30 AM!!
Have a great day!!!
RR
(if i dont start running, I will have to change my name from ROadRUnner!!!)

Default Hi everyone!

It's been a couple of weeks since i've posted, but i haven't forgotten about you.

LBH- We went to see the Wiggles last year. We had front row seats, and enjoyed an awesome show (i think i enjoyed it more than the kids ) !! Dh called the venue box office about 4 weeks prior to the show hoping to get some decent tkts. Much to his surprise, the agent told him to call back in 2 weeks as the venue needs to hold "x" amount of seats available for handicapped attendees. If they are not sold by 14 days prior to the event, they get put up to the general public...that's how we got front row, at no extra $$!!

LBTEPA- I say, "go for it" as far as the 1/2 marathon is concerned. Once you DECIDE, and commit in your mind you are going to do it, it will be much easier to train for it...much the same as the glass of wine/night. You need to DECIDE that it is not necessary, and that you don't need it. The mind is a powerful thing

LISA- sorry to hear about the sunburn, that's a bummer!! Just think if you are trapped on the second floor, studying in 90* heat, you just may sweat away a couple of pounds--that could be the positive side of it

LORI- hi, and welcome back!! my name is edith, and i am a sahm of twin 4 yo twin girls. I am fat, but i'm working on it

edith

Edith - great going on the two cheers!

The Wiggles - I forbid them in my house, but the kids are welcome to watch them at the "momma gym" (my gym has child care, and they put on the dvds for my kids). That is how I get them to go on days when they aren't in the mood, I have them sing "hot potato." They freak me out to no end, them and Barney. Uggg. I have caught myself watching Arthur and The Backyardigans when the kids aren't around, so I don't think I'm a total crumudgen.

For those who remember my struggles with my coffee, I switched from 1/2 & 1/2 to 2% last week and lost 3lbs this week. I think I can maintain this for a while and eventually switch down to 1%. I didn't realize it but, I was consuming something like 1/2 my fat calories from my coffee habit. DUMB! I'd rather save that up for an occasional piece of cheesecake, am I right?

And this is a general public service announcement - most towns have public walking trails in preserved "open spaces" areas. This is a great, free way to vary up your exercise routine and actually enjoy your exercise, rather than adding up miles to nowhere on your treadmill. We have an Audubon Santuary within walking distance of our house and this has become a nightly treck. I can push the kids in the stroller after dinner, I get in my exercise, they get to watch the birds and hunt for turtles and everyone comes home ready for bed, happy.

Hi All,

Moma, good for you on the coffee habit! I have a coffee habit too, and at home use 2%, but at work use regular milk or the flavored creamers...bad, bad, bad. As far as TV, I refuse to watch the Doodlebops! I mean, there is NO educational aspect to that show... it is the stupidist thing out there! Not real fond of the Higglytown Heroes either, even though they have a lesson, kind of.

Edith, I wish I knew that before we ordered the tix. I wonder if they do that here?

RR, OK, here's one for ya'...last night we were wondering what Peter was doing on the other side of the bed...figured he was hiding on us, but then realized it was waaay too quiet. So DH goes over there and next thing I know he's saying, Go show your mother! He was covered in Cetaphil cream!! I almost died laughing, but had to try and keep a straight face. All over his hands, arms, face...it was one of the big pump bottles! So we gave him a towel to wipe it off and I told him if he wants cream, he can have it, but to ask mommy or daddy first!

Have a great day all!

Hello everyone! Yesterday I gave a career day talk to 100 5th graders. It was definitely an experience! It was actually pretty enjoyable. The kids were great. Two of my fellow speakers were local radio DJ/traffic reporters. (Lauren-1010Wins and 101.5). We also had a cardiologist, a medical technician and a day care owner.

Edith: Cool on the front row tickets. We were trying for hot potato seats, so I started as soon as I could. I'm very sad that I thought I had them and I didn't.

RR: It looks like the Wiggles will be getting a visit from all of us this summer! Cool. You are a better woman than me. I don't EVER put Barney on. Alex has no idea he is a show! He has a book with him and that's enough for me.

Moma: Cool on cutting down on the 1/2 and 1/2. I'm lucky there is one bad habit I don't have...drinking coffee. If I did it would be full of cream and sugar.

Lauren: I so agree with you on the Doodlebops and Higglytown Heros. I can't stand them. Alex likes the Doodlebops tho. I let him watch them sometimes.

Ugh. Diaper duty calls.

Okay, here's what I want to know, can you lose weight just by sweating? I mean really lose weight? It has been in the 90's all week here and I really have been feeling it.

Other than that classes are going well. In two of my classes I only have two more weeks. The other class that I am in right now lasts five weeks after that. Also, when the first two end, I have another one start up (for five weeks). Then, I will be off for four glorious weeks. I may go visit friends, and take a day trip to Grove City, PA (at the outlet mall). It is a wonderful place there. Pennsylvania does not have sales tax on clothes so we go and stack up.

How is everyone else doing?

What is Doodlebops and Higglytown Heros? I must have been out of daycare a lot longer than I realized. They can't be as bad as Barney. Of course, the kids had to watch him every single stinkin' day. I got to the point of hating him. They cant be that bad. Can they?

OK, this is me today: I'm soaked! We had a big 'ol thunderstorm on the way to daycare....it started pouring just before we got there and I got totally drenched getting the boys out! Not to mention a little at the lightening...me w/my umbrella! My whole back is soaked...my sweater in currently on the back of my chair with the portable heather blasting on it to dry. Thankfully the shirt I had on underneath is thin and quick drying. My skirt is also soaked, but that's thin too, and a few minutes standing in front of the heater should fix that.

Lisa, Hmm, if sweating really works that well, I'm turning the A/C off in my house and hanging out in the kitchen! Those are just 2 more stupid shows on Disney! You're not missing anything. The Doodlebops are a 3 person band in silly...almost freakish...looking costumes and makeup. There's no lesson or anything educational about it. Higgleytown Heros has a lesson or cute story to each one, but they just freak me out. They look like Weebles, kind of, and they pop open and others ones can hide inside them. Really weird.

Karen, how did you get hooked up with 5th graders? Did you tell them how much better it is to be a SAHM than work?! Just kidding... I was actually thinking about you yesterday as I was reading jobs, there was one for an occ. therapist.
