Default Week of ~~April 24th~~

Good Morning Everyone!

Today is Alex's birthday! I can't believe he's two already. Wow. Time flies (I wish I'd known how fast it would go during his first three weeks. That was the most stressful time of my life!) I've been cleaning like a maniac this morning. We are only having family and one friend over, so it's not a huge thing. I still have to pick up the cake, blow up the balloons and get his present together. I certainly hope he doesn't pick today to skip a nap!

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Happy Birthday to sweet Alex, and warm and fuzzy thoughts sent your way, Karen! Moms do all the work on the big day and should be remembered too on birthdays (and that work could be pushing out a kiddo, giving birth by cesarean, or waiting anxiously to hear about adoption). I congratulate and celebrate YOU on this momentous occasion!

Of course in my experience, he will either miss his nap OR decide to sleep during the party...but that could just be my experience!

Lasik went swimmingly and I LOVE that I can SEE without glasses. Of course I have some new wrinkles that must have been covered by my glasses that I have never seen before. How long have they been there?

It truly is a miracle. Who would have thought that in my lifetime I, glasses/contacts dependent since 8 years old, would be able to see, with my eyes! It is very powerful and I am grateful to the doc and to the technology. What an amazing thing!

Okay, I plan to crack down on intake this week! I have slipped into my bad habits very badly! Sooooo....well, I will start a goal thread. Join me there!

Jen

Hi All!

Wow, I was having serious computer withdrawals!!

Robby is doing much better, still in the hospital though. The ped. will not discharge him until he's off the oxygen for good, and his respirations are more normal. I switched with DH for a few hours today so I could get a break, and spend a little time with Peter. Just put him down for a nap and fell asleep myself! Friday Robby was off the Oxygen pretty much all day. They ended up putting him back on late in the day when he fell asleep, because his levels went down to around 85-87%. Yesterday he was on 1 liter most of the day, because he slept a lot and it wouldn't stay above 92%. They lowered it to .5 liter this AM after his 6am neb. treatment, because he sounded good and he was wide awake (since 5). Then they turned it off at around 7:30. It's been off all day now, and he even had a nap and it didn't go below 97%.

I guess this back and forth on the oxygen is what the ped. was talking about when he said these "little boogers" sometimes take a while to get off it, they just don't like to give it up. His respirations have been up too, pretty erratic, hate that darn machine, but averaging higher than 50 most of the time. They want to see him closer to the 30-40 range. It's usually around 45-48 while he sleeps.

He's in great spirits though, have been smiling and laughing the past couple days when he's awake. He's charming the pants off all the ladies, they just love him to death! He especially loves one of his RT's, Allison. He lights up when she gets there and starts pounding on his chest doing CPT! He gets really mad when they deep suction his nose, but gets over it quickly.

I guess that's about it. I'm camped out at the hospital, trying to kiss the staff's butts! I found out Friday night that the Child Life Development staff has laptops for patient use, but they're not in on the weekend, and nobody knows the password for the computer in the CL playroom across the hall from our room, that has internet access. I'll see if I can get a laptop tomorrow, and check in more often. Hopefully we'll be out of there by Tuesday, which is what the ped. originally thought.

Thanks for the good thoughts and prayers, they're working!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALEX!!! Have a great day big guy! :hb1:

Hi to everyone!

Default Hi Ladies...new here!

I am new to 3FC as of last week, and just found this 30-something group. I am excited to find some people that are "in the same boat" as I am, and hopefully we will be able to face common challenges together!

About me:

I am 36 yo SAHM of 4 yo fraternal twin girls. I have finally admitted to myself that I am unhealthy, and hate the image that I am portraying to my children. This is what has brought me to 3FC. I am ready. I am committed. I need help.

I have been exercising regularly for the last two weeks, and feel GREAT for it! I have been doing really good with my water intake, as my trips to the bathroom can attest to that!

My problem: snacks, chips, Cookies

I'm hoping that this 30-something sisterhood has room for one more...

My weekly challenge:
1) Gym 5x this week
2) No chips, cookies or candy
3) Snacks should consist of fruits or vegetable
4) No second helpings

Welcome Mom2twinz, my name is Lisa and I am a single again person. I attend college full time and don't have much time for anything else as these ladies can attest to. I do try and go to the gym, but sometimes homework gets in the way. Congratulations on the exersize and the water intake. Sometimes it is the hardest thing to start.

Default Thank-you for the welcome!

Hi Lisa!!

I am excited to begin this journey to a healthier, fit person. I am hoping that I will be able to share this journey with other people, as I am sure that I will have many challenges to overcome. I would like to think this will be a place I can come to for support when needed, and a place where my accomplishments can be celebrated by people who understand. I would also like to be able to lend support to others, and be considered a source of friendship and understanding.

I would like to congratulate you on your current WL success! 20#!! Now that's something to cheer about I hope that you have done something nice for yourself to celebrate

I would also like to congratulate you on going back to school!! That is wonderful (and hard!)! What are you studying? are you getting your BA, or your MA? I, too, would like to go back to school someday...It's one of my dreams to finish...but that's another story.

I hope to "see" you soon

Welcome Edith! My goals for this week sound like your weekly challenge!

Lauren, I am glad that your baby is feeling better. I can only imagine how exhausting and stressful your life has been this week. Kisses to Robbie and Peter.

Hang in there with school, Lisa. Is a small break coming soon??

Edith, I am getting a double BS, (boy ain't that the truth!) one in Business Management and one in Marketing. I transferred in 12 classes, so when I started I was actually considered a Sophmore. I am in my last semester as a Junior. I only have 14 more classes after this semester (8 periods in this semester) - Not that I'm counting. I plan on graduating in May '06.

Jen, I have one week break May 15 - 22. During that time I will be helping my mom strip wallpaper off the kitchen wall. Then it's back to summer school.

Lauren, I also am glad that little Robbie is doing better. He is still in my thoughts and prayers, as are you.

Good Morning everyone!!! Had a great weekend with the weather!! DH has been soo supportive with me not making him brownies and snacks!!!I dropped 3 kg(6.6lbs) in a week since AF left and I quit the Lexapro..I felt "full" all the time and my rings were tight!(We measure in kg at work for medication conversions soo I dont let my brain multiply by 2.2 and dont really know my real weight!!! )I feel soo much better and my clothes are looser..It is amazing how extra fluid can make u nuts!!

Welcome Edith!! We have a goal thread going also if U want to post your weekly goals..Then next week, post your results and see if U followed them!!My problem is a skinny husband that loves chocolate treats..I would "pick" on them and then the main problem is "finishing" the kids plates..That and picking while cooking was getting me...Good luck!!!

Lauren-Glad Robby is better..What did they diagnose??Usually they say "reactive airway disease" cuz they dont want to put the asthma label on them with one episode..K is much better since the pneumonia..still with that cough esp at night, but much better..Hope I didnt send that bug online!!

Karen-2 already??wow..they are growing fast..I am putting K in gymnastics class in a month when her clavicle is healed completely..she is out the brace but I dont want to push it..Good luck on the party!!

Lisa-hats off to U!!Dieting and schooling all at the same time!!

Hello to all...I smell diaper duty and it doesnt smell nice!!!

Welcome Edith, you have really big goals for yourself this week - will you be ok if you don't make all of them? Are they attainable and sustainable? Good luck and let us know if you need any cheerleading.

I'm thinking about a power push this week - (that was what we called the sprints mixed in with the regular workout when I rowed crew). I need something to focus on to take the nerves off my book launch party on Sunday. What if no one shows up? What if 5 people show up, they read the book & HATED it? What if I throw up on the podium or my pen explodes as I am signing the books or what if NO ONE buys it? So I am going to try and double my workouts this week, double my water and see if I can add to my momentum.

After being stuck for a few weeks, the scale moved down another 4# when I checked in after my yogalattes class on Saturday. I'm now able to do a lot more poses & my sweatpants are getting bigger.

How is everyone else doing?

Momadance,

I don't think my goals are TOO big, do you? Afterall, it is a goal... something to strive for. If I fail, which I may, I will still have tried, and that is a step in the right direction

Congratulations on your 4# loss!! That is magnificent!!

Congratulation on getting your book published...Wow, what a wonderful accomplishment. I would say that doing power pushes would definitely take the edge off of some of your stress...Be careful not to over-do it, you wouldn't want to be stiff and sore for the signing.

edith

p.s. bring two pens

Goals are worth striving for, just wanted to make sure you weren't the type to beat yourself up for not making all of them - some times the punishment is worse than the crime - or atleast it was for me prior to this last go on the weight loss escalator.

Thanks -I'm going pen shopping this week, just in case!

HI everyone
what a week already and it's only Tuesday. Lauren - so glad little Robby is getting better. Momadance - A BOOK? Cool! I am sure you will be overwhelmed with adulation esp if you wear some of your 'emerging butterfly' clothes ;-) RR - 3kg in a week! That's so satisfying, yay for you :-)
Welcome Edith - I've only been posting for a couple of weeks but this is a great forum, everyone is very friendly and supportive. I agree with Momadance tho - be careful not to create an environment where you can 'fail' - it's all about little successes, little steps. By taking those steps we succeed, even if we didn't quite do as much as we wanted. Aiming high is great though! I'm looking forward to reading how you go, maybe I'll get some sorely-needed motivation? I'm off to post on the 'goals for the week' thread now. Everyone take care and have a good day

Well I went to the gym today. (Actually yesterday) I did the water class. Then after eating lunch I helped my mom move the basement all around until it was time to get ready for class. Then I helped her finish up after class. My parents are starting to have a problem with water in their basement and are going to get it fixed, so that meant moving everything away from the walls. Oh am I going to be sore later on, I am already starting to feel it. Well I had better go, I can tell I am really tired and I have to wake up early in the morning.
