  • I'm quite consistently at 67kg for the last week = 167.5 pounds ... so I think I've made it out of the 170s ... but there is no 160s thread so I'll just double up and stay here until I'm 150 something ....... hard to believe I'm anywhere near 160 ...

Congratulations to everyone who is losing ....
  • Neon- I am in the same boat and recently gained back 10 although I haven't been in the 160's in years so getting past this 170 mark is big for me.

    Congrats HMM3!!

175 for me today!!! 1 lb at a time.
  • Thanks Kay .... congrats ... one pound at a time is a good philosophy ... I often say to myself .... "I have to lose one pound before I can lose 20 " ....
  • Hello all, I've been on hiatus from the site and any attempt at weight loss while I adjusted to a new job. It's past time I kicked myself in the pants and got back into the swing of things.

I've got a 5k planned on April Fools and am starting back up with zumba once a week and hot yoga every other.

How is everyone hanging in there after the start of the year?
  • Spinach- what do you think of the hot yoga? I want to try it but I am intimidated by it so I haven't gone yet.
  • hot yoga
    Hi KayNicole!

I adore hot yoga. I've been going off an on for the last 10 years, whenever I could scrape up the class fee, and if I couldn't, the studio I went to had a community day where you paid what you could into a can as a donation.
I especially like Bikram, because it's always the same. You show up for class, 90 minutes, and the 26 asanas (poses) are in the exact same order each time. You slowly learn the series of poses, each one done twice in a row so you can correct or push yourself harder (you can also make a 1/2 class for yourself by sitting during the first or second set of each asana).

It seems really intimidating with all these beautiful people doing pretzel balance things with expensive looking mats, aluminum bpa free water bottles and hemp ankle bracelets. In reality it's a bunch of sweaty and sometimes smelly people wobbling as they try to find their center in the mirror and they could care less about you and what you are doing because your yoga practice is about you and you alone.

Go do it!!! You will feel sweaty and sore and exhausted and like you really accomplished something!!
I did find that yoga tightened up my legs while training for my 5k, so keep in mind you may need to do some extra stretching or walking warm up if you are a runner.
  • Thanks for the tips Spinach! I think I will do it. I saw a woman walking out of Bikram the other day and she looked like she just ran a marathon... dazed and drenched from head to toe. LOL Also, you described the scene so perfectly.
  • I'd love to try yoga too .... although I don't think there is a hot yoga place anywhere near me ....

A few years ago I did BodyBalance which had a yoga section in it but I've never tried it as a pure exercise ....

I'm consistently jogging and going to the gym which I love .... but I feel the muscles getting tighter and tighter!!

How's everyone doing .... my calculation put me at 165.3 pounds today ...
  • At 173, but am traveling for several weeks and am worried that not being in my regular routine will make me stall, or even worse, gain. Cross your fingers for me.
  • Good luck Jazzfan ..... I will have my finger crossed

Had rather a terrible takeaway last night and feeling ill this morning as a result ... staying away from the scale ... but I know it will be up ....
  • Hi everyone !! I've been gone for a few months but finally managed to leave the 170's - at 169 for 2 weeks. so it seems it has stuck. Good luck ladies! I hope to see you on the way down to our goal weights!! =)
  • I'm going to take HMM3's word (I adore bodybalance!) for it that there isn't a 160 thread. Here I stay.

My Thursday weigh-in was 168 this week. My body seems to have developed a new pattern of holding steady for two or three weeks and then giving me a nice woosh. It's a little nervewracking for me because my weight loss used to be so much more linear. Just when you think you've got your patterns figured out your body switches things up on you.
  • Holding steady to, 172! I so want to be in the 160's....
  • Newbie stuggling with the 170s
    Hi All,

I'm new to this site, but it seems great. I bought my first pair of spanx a few months ago and at that moment I decided that I need to make a change. My weight has steadily increased over the past few years and now I'm tipping the scales at the heaviest weight of my life: 171. A woman stopped me on the subway two weeks ago and asked me if I am pregnant.

I guess that wouldn't have been so traumatizing if I hadn't been dieting and working out like a nut. It's been one month and I haven't lost a pound, though I feel great, and have been running 35 minutes a night on the elliptical trainer and doing cross fit workouts. I have completely changed my diet and am wondering if I have restricted too much. I didn't really watch what I ate in the past, but working in NYC often led to sandwiches, pizza, burgers, or other delicious food truck fare. I now eat only salad for lunch and have a juice for breakfast (my fav. is fresh-pressed greens with ginger and lemon). Sometimes I will eat tofu and quinoa. I feel so healthy from eating so "clean."

Am in in the situation where my fat is turning to muscle and therefore the scale doesn't reflect my progress? In 2008 I was 145 lbs. and looked great but wasn't very strong. I'm stronger now, but HEAVY.

Any thoughts lovely ladies of 3FC?

    Thanks!
    Leigh
  • Welcome and congrats on getting a plan and sticking to it!

It seems the only real rule of weight loss is that there is no one way of weight loss... smiles.

You say that you are only eating salads, are you calorie counting? If you aren't, use one of the calculators online to calculate what you should be eating each day and then track every single thing that goes on your mouth for a few weeks (I have an app on my phone that even scans barcodes). You may not be eating enough, you may be eating healthy things that are calorie packed.
Also remember that your body needs a balanced diet, I found the last time around that if I had no fat in my diet I would stall. Fat is necessary for your body to function (the counter I use keeps track of fat, sodium, carbs as well as calories to make sure I'm keeping balanced)

If you are training hard, you may want to track inches instead of pounds. In the end, weight doesn't matter if your clothes fit nicely. Don't get your head wrapped around the scale. I'm "only" about 19 pounds heavier than I was last year, but I lost all my tone and my middle has gone all squishy. I regret that more than the weight.

Keep us posted on your progress!
