Elaine and I have been doing some weight training lately. That is such a hard start...it causes some weight gain in the beginning - but we are going to be some calorie burning MACHINES when we are done!

gvntofly 11-08-2010 09:22 AM

Uggg! I was 199 last Wednesday. Stupid TOM! O Well next week should be a good loss!

YES! I am SOOOOOOOO thrilled that I am finally doing this!!! One of the biggest changes that I am feeling is when I eat, I will feel full before I have cleaned the plate!!! I have never had that feeling before in my life.
Have a wonderful week everyone!!!

I'm going on vacation next week, so I need to have a big loss this week to offset the potential gain.

Quitting smoking is kicking my butt. :( I'm doing fine staying off the smokes, but am really struggling with everything else (eating, activity, sleeping, water, etc).

I feel your pain. I quit smoking one year ago (on nov. 9th) and that's why I'm here!:p Trust me...losing any gained weight from quitting is just icing on the cake compared to quitting smoking. I can taste my foods so much better (didn't even realize what I was missing all these years), I can now run 2.8 miles without stopping (who knew I had such lungs!!!), and I love not smelling of foul smelling smoke. Yup...I true EX-smoker I am. And the BEST news...I'll probably live alot longer (barring getting ran over by a milk truck!:o)

Here's some tips that helped me. I gained most of my weight eating sweet things (laffy taffy..ooohhh...nomnomonomnom!), to help deal with not smoking. Sooooo...I now suck on sugar free hard candy (I like sf jolly ranchers cuz they're loaded with mouth puckering flavor) and really help curb that sweets desire. I run now...and listen to the bible while doing so...surprising how much you can actually understand! There are other things that have helped me so feel free to PM for any helpful suggestions.

Yup...dealing with this excess fat is walk in the park!!!:carrot:

 Hang in there. I just passed the 5 year mark in September. You won't regret it - despite the weight issues.

Sorry I'm late - never got on the computer yesterday!

233.6/-0.3/233.3

My body/my mind/something seems to really like this weight. I know I need to completely recommit to get the scale going down substantially again, and to be honest, I'm just struggling. I'm maintaining, and have been between 230-234 for a LONG time now, and that's better than gaining back what I've lost, but I just cannot seem to find that push within myself to get it going again. Anyone gone through a time like this?

HeavenlyAirhead 11-09-2010 02:36 PM

Sorry for the late post....I'm getting my wisdom teeth out this week and was at an appointment with the Master Torturer (aka - the oral surgeon...) most of the afternoon yesterday....along with my Monday housewife duties.....(laundry...lol) it was just a crazy busy day, and it didn't even cross my mind to post.

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.

175.4/+1/176.4

At least it only +1....and that's cause it's been harder to avoid the stress munchies with all 4 of my teeth getting yanked out of my face this week.

(I'm a big baby when it comes to the dentist....my fear of the Master's of Torture is right up there with my fear of flying....)

*sigh*

I'm not sure if I am going to be posting on time next week either....I guess it just depends on how I'm feeling come Monday.

So....if there is no post from me next week....I'm still here, just recovering. :)

I hope you guys have an amazing week. :)

when i quit 5 years ago i literally had to take it one second, one minute, one hour, one day at a time. take deep cleansing breaths, join an online support group, eat a tictac, pretend to hold a cig and do the motion of bringing it up to ur lips and exhaling, go easy on yourself. i also used Zyban and that stuff works! i also did not try to diet during that time and i ate whatever i wanted to suppress the craving. too much deprivation at once will make u go crazy. :dizzy:

good luck!

That's why I decided to not quit yet.

Couldn't take away all of my junk food, soda, AND nicotine all in one blow. Would make me crazy. ;)

Good luck, and hang in there. *hugs*

213/2/215 TOM week...

mortonpixie 11-10-2010 11:02 PM

In week 5 we lost:

22.3 pounds!

Let's get moving and PRE BURN some of those holiday calories this week! Last year, I lost 2 lbs in November and 2 in December. NOT a huge amount, but at least I didn't gain!! This year I'm going for 3 and 5 - who's with me!?

cincimini 11-11-2010 05:15 AM

OMG! So sorry ladies, I hope i'm not kicked off the team yet. I didn't meant to skip the WI, but I was leaving the US on Monday, had to deal with lost luggage, missed connection, etc. and didn't have my first weigh-in until today. Hope it still counts.

I ate sunflower seeds. The ones in the shells. About two weeks and I am sure I ate more than a few pounds of them, but it worked.

gvntofly 11-14-2010 11:12 AM

Weighing in a day early, not sure if I would remember tomorrow since I have been pretty busy with the holidays coming.

200/-4/196

Yay! I made it to Onederland!!! :carrot: And then some! I have also hit 20 pounds lost!

Last week was a great week! I'm working to make this a great week also! I have family coming in for Thanksgiving that hasn't seen me since I was at my biggest. One is my SIL, she is a marathon runner! I have just started running this past week and I am going to start training for a 5k that is on April 2, 2011!

She is going to sit down and work out a training schedule with me!!!! The great thing is I will have someone to be accountable to! Even if she is 5 hours away.

HOLY MOLY!!! 8.6 down in a week??? I can say that I upped my water and changed around my diet a little bit where I'm eating mini meals about every 3 hrs. I have also been doing strength training for the last 2 months and before joining this challenge I had gains after gains or zero loss. Persistence pays off!!!

I'm so HAPPY!!!
