Mollz: My quick and easy 'safe' lunch:

1 can of chunky chicken noodle soup (with the eggs noodles). Fix, then drain out broth. I do this in a microwave safe bowl at work, I just use the lid to hold the noodles and veggies in.

And I homemake these, but you can buy fruit cups already ready to eat. I seperate cans of fruit (my current kick is pinapple tidbits in water! MMMM) into a half cup serving.

Thats 300 calories on the dot. And filling. Plus 16g of protein...

**draining the broth out makes it more like a noodle salad. I hate broth!** :D

I usually eat throughout the day...

Between when I got to work this morning and when I leave, I will have eaten:

a quart size bag of broccoli
2 slices of bread (DH makes it at home...yummmm)
4 Tbl hummus
10 strawberries
30 cherries
2 caramel nips (only 60 cals but keeps cravings at bay)

Total of about 550 cals. With the 225 I eat for breakfast, this leaves me plently of cals left for dinner.

For a while now, I've been undecided about what I want to do to celebrate hitting my goal when I do get there in 14.2lbs. I FINALLY settled on something!! I am going to buy a WII system!! Clothes are gonna happen cause they are a necessity and the WII will be a fun active way to spend downtime and blow agrivation. I'm excited about the tennis and boxing games!

Congrats Jenn, on the job! Conrats, MelO, on your huge milestone on the scale! Good luck MP, with the trip prep. I do not look forward to traveling with our kids, it could go either way, as far as their behavior/whining/etc. In a couple of weeks, my husband and I are traveling with our children to Phoenix. I'm going to a conference there for work, and we are going to see the Grand Canyon, etc. I've never been to AZ, and our kids haven't been on an airplane, so they are super excited. I'm a bit nervous about a week away from home with two energetic children under the age of 7. But we're looking forward to it, too. :)

I have lost 5 pounds in just over a week, by logging everything and upping my fiber/veggies/filling foods. My knee is also acting up (sigh) with running, but today I did the elliptical and some weights. I miss my run, though.

I just accepted a new job and I am so excited about it! It is a great opportunity for me, and it just also happens to be a huge increase in pay. Change is scary, but it is also exciting, and I am so happy to have the choice behind me and to start looking forward to the new position. I have some prep before I start, but I'm happy about it! :)

A few lunches I like:

1/2 cup cottage cheese mixed with canned diced tomatoes
piece of fruit
serving of whole wheat crackers 350 cals total

serving of hummus with raw veggies
yogurt
string cheese 270 cals total

peanut butter, 2 tbsp
apple slices
cottage cheese 370 cals total

mixed greens with serving of lunch meat or other protein (low fat)
wheat crackers
sugar free jello
piece of fruit, or protein granola bar 350 cals total

I always do really well when I have more protein with any meal, it keeps me full and makes things taste more like a meal, less like a snack. My biggest protein sources are low fat peanut butter, cottage cheese, nuts, and low fat meat.

Have a great Wednesday tomorrow!

R :)

Jen - I think that sounds like a fantastic, usable item for hitting goal! Can't wait to hear all about it!!

Well, I'm sulking this morning. I have rested my knee all week, and went out for what I wanted to be a quick 3mi run. I started out that first .5mi thinking "wow, this strap is really helping!" Then after going down one hill and up the next it was all over. I tried to walk a little then run again and it wasn't happening.

I guess I will go to the Y and use the elliptical tonight to at least get my burn in. Might have to do the same thing tomorrow. We leave on vacation on Sunday morning so I won't be able to see our Doctor til after we come back. Doc is an athlete, so he normally knows right what the problem is. I will continue to do my quad strengthening exercises, and try to get some better shoes.

Boo. I really miss my morning run. :(

Have a great Thursday, all.

MP: Good luck with the trip...traveling with kids can be challenging...we had times when we took the suburban (which has horrid gas mileage), just so we could put the kids in different rows in the back. They even had to be on opposite sides, so they couldn't kick the seat in front of them :). Boys...what can you say? :)

Hope your knee feels better soon. Maybe a little break from running on the trip will let it heal a bit?

parkedout 06-10-2010 10:54 AM

Hay ladies!

Still around-- just pushing REALLY hard so I don't float back over 200....:^:

MP, soory to hear about your knee! Thats terrible!

Rebound 06-10-2010 11:47 AM

It's been a good few days here! I was already going to be late at work, and then I was supposed to meet my husband and my MIL for dinner, so I didn't have time to run. So I lied ;) and said I got stuck at work a little longer. Instead I ran to the rum and did my 2 miles. I ran the first mile at 6mph and it was HARD! Then I stood in front of a fan for 5 minutes to dry off, put back on my work clothes, tried to put myself back together, and went to dinner. No one suspected me, and I didn't have to deal with telling my MIL about it. The Hubs wouldn't have minded, but I didn't want to get into it with the MIL, you know?

Anyway, I did really well at dinner an ended up right at 1500 calories for the day. I had the smallest wedge of a quesidilla (sp?) appetizer, a dinner salad without croutons and with strawberry vinaigrette on the side, scallops seared without butter, fresh veggies with a little butter, a small baked potato, mango salsa on everything, and three bites of chocolate cake.

And today I was down to 199.0.

Phew!

LOL! Know JUST what you mean...:). Nice job sticking to your guns and working out. WTG!

RunningToSmile 06-11-2010 07:57 AM

Nice job, Rebound, great dedication! MP, I know exactly what you are going through with your running injury, I had a periformis tear this winter that prevented me from running and it drove me bananas. I just get so much more of an endorphin high from running vs anything else, and it was so hard to exercise "hard enough" without running. But, as you know, you need to STOP RUNNING right now, or you will never heal. I started and stopped and tried to run on it, and tried to limp on it, and basically extended my injury by about a month. Stop running, do anything active that doesn't aggrivate the knee, and give it some good long rest. Take some NSAIDs (ibuprofen, alleve, etc) and ice it, maybe wrap it with an ACE or strap for compression if that helps, all the usual things you already know you should do. Lifting weights helped me some while I was waiting to heal, and boosted my metabolism, which may have made up for my lack of hardcore cardio. I went through this a couple of years ago with plantar fascitis when I was training for a half marathon, and it literally threw me into a depression because I couldn't run. But now I have some more perspective (I guess it comes with age or something!) and I am able to calm down a bit and try something else. I am going to do more yoga, too, it is very good for muscle building. Good luck!

Everyone else, great work on all of your little choices every day. They continue to add up! I was going strong, but have been eating a few more treats here and there, which has slowed my weight loss a bit. Time to track everything again and count every single bite.....it is tedious, but seems to work for me.

Happy Friday, all!
R

R - Yes, I do not like to be on running rest. :( Boo. Especially because DH is a runner and is really piling on the miles right now. I have to turn it around and be happy for him. :) My little Schwinn is barely able to keep up with what I want it to do. I've got it on it's most difficult gear most of the time and barely getting my heart rate in the 140's. But rest, I will. I will see our D.O. when we get back from vacation.

9 miles on the bike this morning. I didn't realize before how "uphill" that portion of the trail is! I also had the wind in my face the whole way out. Took me 6 minutes longer to go out than back. Great workout - happy to be out and burning some calories.

Today I am going to cook up a bunch of meat. I'm going to roast and bone a chicken, cook and shred some roast, and brown some burger. I plan to take that stuff with us so that I don't have to worry about THAT part of the meals while we are on vacation.

I thought of one more thing I need to buy - a portable booster seat! Our 3yo might be okay but our 1yo definitely needs something in lieu of a high chair while at the condo.

Planning, cleaning, printing maps, gathering wash, folding, packing...a vacation is NEVER as relaxing for Mom, huh? It will be nice to leave for a bit though. And, being able to spend time with just my children will be nice.

Have a GREAT Friday!!

MAN do we have a busy weekend planned entertaining the MIL... Today we're going to a Brewer's game. Tomorrow night a picnic and an outdoor play (As You Like It). Sunday, "Dog Fest" and then...something that I can't remember... Monday I took the day off :rolleyes: to spend with the Hubs and the MIL. Groan.

The stadium has a baked potato stand where I can get a plain potato with broccoli and sour cream. That's the bulk of my baseball-dinner-food. I share some of those hot sugar/cinnamon nuts with the Hubs and have a brat without bun if I have the calories left and I'm still hungry. That potato really fills me up, though!

Today I was 198.6, so I'm feeling better about my entrance into Onederland. Of course, I'll probably have a bloating upswing right before my "official" weigh in, but I'm still feeling great!

MisfitRycher 06-11-2010 11:09 PM

Knee still plenty sore today... Owie-ow-ow!!!

It's supposed to be sunny and warm this weekend... Got me fingers crossed! I wanna do some yardwork but I can't do it if it's always raining!

Hoping I can find a nice stair-climber/treadmill that's got easy to adjust treads so I can switch between stair climbing and a basic treadmill without a lot of effort... That'd be a calorie burn though!!! hehe

So the last couple of days I've been snacking on apples and soup crackers... Today's snack was 7 salted soup crackers. That's it. As soon as I get more money I'm going to stock up on those lovely saltines... My favorite grocery store now sells them in the easy-serve boxes where you can just grab a pre-wrapped pack of 4 crackers out of the box and you're good to go. Unfortunately my teeth can't handle anything "stiffer" than apples and saltines right now... Darn dentist gave me a root canal last week and my tooth STILL HURTS!!!:mad::mad:

That's all from the Misfit Front for now... Hope everybody has a wonderful weekend!

Heartfelt reply lost in cyberspace...too frustrated to write it again!!

Our 13mo old got sick last night...he is running a low grade temp, but ate breakfast okay this morning.

Finishing up laundry, cleaning the house and packing like a mad woman today. Leaving at 6am tomorrow to head south. Will weigh in tomorrow instead of Monday.

GOAL - to lose weight on our vacation!!

RunningToSmile 06-12-2010 10:39 PM

Blew it big time today, big family parties.....ate two pieces of cake, chips, pasta salad, anything I wanted really.....did eat veggies and watermelon, but not much else of any nutritional value! I feel bloated and fat and disgusting!

Tomorrow is a new day, I've been drinking water all evening to help with the bloat and am going to have a nice long workout tomorrow and get back to my light and healthy eating. Boy, pigging out just isn't as fun as it once was--I feel so awful afterwards!!! :(
