Things went well yesterday and this morning I saw a number so pretty I'm almost afraid to say it out loud. *202.6* I saw a 203.something last week, but then I went up to 205 and was hanging out there for a while. I'm hoping this 202 is going to stick around!
My 3 miles at 5 mph run yesterday felt great! Too great, I think. I feel like I need to push myself a little bit more. I'm going to up my speed to 5.5 mph for my two miles tomorrow and then see if I can keep the 5.5 mph speed on Thursday for the 3 miles I have scheduled. It's only during the weekdays on the treadmill that I can be so specific about speed. I do my "long" runs on the weekend outside and I can't tell how fast I'm running... I'm trying to teach myself my pace, but it's hard to compare the treadmill to the streets. |
Good morning everyone!
Welcome Daisy! LisaMarie: In-laws can be a pain sometimes. Mine like to play favorites between my two sons...they did the same to DH and his brother...DH still has issues from it, so I get REALLY P.O.'ed when they try to do it to my boys! Hang in there...sounds like your side of the family will be a great influence on your son. Sounds like everyone has set some good goals for June...onward and downward! :) |
Hi all, hope I can join in!! I have been on and off the boards for a few years but I am determined to lose weight this time. I am watching what I eat, but I cannot exercise right now. I tore the cartlidge in my knee and being way overweight didnt help with that. So any ideas on what I can do??
|
Rebound - Wow! You have some speed behind you girl! I would Looove to run 5mph for my 3mi run! Keep up the great work. :)
Daisy and Neast - :welcome2: AFChick - missed you! Glad you are home safe and sound. Here's to the downward part...for sure! MelO - Stop it. 168 by now?? What kind of crazy goals are you setting? You've already lost 30+lbs this year...in 20wks. I know you're frustrated...but it's not because you are a failure - it's because your goals are to aggressive. I don't care what kind of plan you are on - 2# per week is pretty tough when you get down in the 180's. It took me March, April and all of May to work down through those 10lbs. Hang in there. Ok - enough ragging out of MelO. Neast - you might try swimming...the YMCA has reasonable rates for memberships and even has scholarships if you are low income (like us!). Good luck with your goals. :) |

My hubby is also running it and I'm coming to grips with the fact that he can, without ANY training or building up of mileage, blow me out of the water. I mean, he's 6'4", but it's still a little annoying! |

Persistent running does make you faster though. I was running 12 min miles for anything over 3 miles about 8 months ago. Now I can run 10 min miles for 3 miles. Yesterday, I ran 9 min miles for just over 2 miles. (It's actually kind of funny...I was running outside and I remembered the distance wrong and thought I must be out of shape since I didn't run at all on my vacation. :( I thought I was running about 12 min miles again...so kept trying to speed up. :dizzy: The course I thought was 1.57 miles was actually 2.14 miles. :o I ran it in 19:28! Just slightly above 9 mins per mile. :carrot:) Running at least 3 times per week and having one run be speed intervals really helps with the pace. I do 10 intervals starting at my current "comfortable long run pace" and then speed up by 0.5 mph every 30 seconds until I've run 2 minutes then walk 1 minute. By the 10th interval you're pretty beat, but since you get to walk and catch your breath you can still run fast. It helps with muscle memory to run alot faster sometimes. |

That sounds like it would be good for me to try! |

Sometimes if I'm still feeling pretty good, on the last 2-3 intervals, I split the second minute into 3 parts and run 6.0 (30 sec), 6.5 (30 sec), 7.0 (20 sec), 7.5 (20 sec), 8.0 (20 sec), 3.5 (one min). It sounds harder than it is...you can do anything for 2 minutes...because you know that walking minute is just around the corner...:)! |
The sun is shining, the sun is shining! HOORAY!!!
OUTDOOR EXERCISE HERE I COME!!! :carrot::carrot::carrot: |
Rain, lightning, and hail here...that goodness for treadmills! :)

Wow, you look good! I was a little worried when you said a 2-piece, but girl, you definitely pulled that off! Nice job! I like your hair darker too. Va va voom! I have to say that I am totally jealous that you don't have a bunch of extra skin hanging from every where. I'm going to have to cough up a pretty penny to look as tight as you.
Pix, *hugs*, thank you girl. I know I do set too unrealistic goals. I'm back on track. Lovin' the new points thread. |
AFChick, you look great!
|
You look great!! Way to go!!
I took a lesson to heart today that I've learned quite a few times in the last few months. It really sucks to go without working out for more than a day or two because when I get back into it, I am incredibly, uncomfortably sore for days after lol I will not ever quit exercising again! I'm so sore today I can barely move. |
Thanks everyone! You ladies are awesome!
