Ya, I always hated that. Luckily, we don't do the weight standards anymore, but they still have the ab circ. as part of the twice a year fit test, which for me is harder. It's not height adjusted, and under the new fit test, if you fail one category, you fail the whole test. The max circ. you can have is 35.5" (for females) whether you're 5' or 6'...doesn't matter. (For males, it's like 39"...don't even get me started on that one...)
And they don't necessarily measure the skinniest part of your waist...it's supposed to be just above the iliac crest, but sometimes you get a bad taper who does it too low and gets part of your hip bone in the measure. Overall, if you're tall, you get hosed. It always used to really upset me that I'd have to run so much faster than the short people to make up for it. At least under the latest test, it's only worth 20% of your score instead of 30% like it used to be.
