Smile Onederland? One Of these Days...

Hi,
I'm 38 years old, happily married and have two boys.
I've been saying I am going to lose weight and get back below 199lbs for years now but never had the motivation to really get going.

I've been visiting this site for the last few weeks but just joined today.

My biggest challenge has always been exercise but I think I may of overcome that obstacle after my stepmom introduced me to Nintendo Wii while I was vacationing there this past January.

When I came back from vacation, I went out and bought myself a Wii console and a few games (WiiFitPlus & Walk It Out) and started my journey to Onederland.

I've been exercising 5 days a week, faithfully and have been having alot of fun. My diet is just a basic lowfat kind and portion control. I stay around 1400-1600 calories a day and haven't "eliminated" anything from my diet, just made more limitations on the amounts of my favorite foods.

So far I have lost 14.5 lbs. I'm now on my 4th week and enjoying every minute of it.

I'm looking forward to meeting you all

SW: 283 lbs (01/25/2010)
CW: 268.5 lbs (02/18/2010)
GW: 175lbs

Welcome! I am doing a very similar plan to yours and have lost 18.3 lbs as of wednesday . I do wii fit plus 5-6 days a week. How do you like that other game? Wii fit is fun, but would like to try some other things so I don't get bored.

Good job and keep it up!!

18.3lbs...that's great!

I enjoy the Walk It Out game. It keeps track of your steps, miles, calories, as well as all your different achievements.
I'm still new to the game, about 2 weeks into it, but have already walked 50,832 steps/14.1 miles as of last Thursday.
When you first start the game, there are a few songs that are all ready unlocked, and then you walk around "Rhythm Island" to the beat of the music playing and pick up points when you step in time to the music. You can use these point to open up different route on your island, buy trees, buildings, etc. The game comes with 150 songs, but only 15 are unlocked when you start, so in order to hear more music, you have to find them and unlock them (I think it also has something to do with the time of day you play)
It's a great workout and I usually go about 35-40 minutes on this each day.

I also like the Island Cycling, Rhythm Boxing, Super Hula Hoop, Free Step and Basic Run on the WiiFitPlus game.

I haven't started any kind of strength training yet.

I made myself a webpage online and use it too keep track of both this and my WiiFitPlus totals as well as my weekly weigh-ins and overall progress. It's just one page and I don't add entries in it daily or weekly like a normal blog.

There are a few more games that I would like to get but these are great for right now.

I like the boxing too, as well as the basic run. Rhythm parade and the kung Fu one are kinda fun too. I usually do a few yoga exercises before I get into my cardio, and end with a few of the strength training exercises.

Thanks for the info on the walking game, sounds fun.
