Biggest Looser Weekly Chat
Heya, all!
I ran by Mortonpixie the fabulous 30-something TBL organizer the idea of us having a weekly chat thread. There are lots of marvelous support-chat threads (30-somethings January, the whole Chicks up for a Challenge group) -- but with our Monday weigh in date, I thought we could use a place focused on us. So -- here it is! How're y'all doing? Who's got weekend plans? Have you gone and picked up rewards for the fabulous progress we had last week? Shout out! --Shrewkate |
I've got my weekend plans! DH has 3 days off every 8, so on Saturday we're going to lunch with a mate of ours. Have only been there a couple of times, so we'll see what's available. They make really nice pain perdu/lost bread/french toast and a very nice banoffee pie. :D But I can see me eating a chicken burger with lettuce only and a side salad.
Sunday, we're going for our first bush walk of the year (I've got all 12 months planned out). I can't wait to do this. This is where we're going: http://www.doc.govt.nz/parks-and-rec...nn-loop-track/ The time is a pretty conservative estimate; it'll take us around 4 hours to complete the whole thing and both of us are keen to increase our tramping knowledge. Monday, it's back over to Whakatane (about 2 hours away) to look at a motorcycle. DH has been waiting for a good bike to become available and he's found one, so we'll probably have lunch with his parents while we're over there. I talked to DH last night during Criminal Minds (Reid is  ) and said that when I get to 80kg, I'd like a massage. The look on his face reminded me of my avatar. I've never asked for anything for myself except for birthdays and Christmas (not even Valentines or anniversaries; spending time with him on those days is just enough for me). I think it'll take a little more convincing, but I'm positive he'll give me one. :D |
And Draco really does have that -great- WTF?!?!? face, doesn't he? One of our dogs has the same kind of face when he inadvertently drinks lemonade.
|
This thread is exactly what my partner, Rachel and I talked about! YEA!!! We now have a place to come and chat with everyone!:carrot:
|
I'm gaining! I'm gaining and I can't figure it out. I haven't changed a darned thing....How am I gaining!!! ARRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGG
|
dietcokehead- Maybe you have increased strength training? Maybe try upping the calorie intake and the cardio for a week... I hope things turn around for you soon. Hang in there, you're doing great!
Slimming- It is cool to have this thread! Mollz- I like the massage idea :) Shrewkate, thanks for creating the weekly threads... it was a good idea! Wednesday was my b-day and I woke up with a sore throat, feeling a bit lethargic until this morning actually so I didn't get my workouts in the last 2 days. I did do an hour of cardio today and plan to work it through the weekend! I'm not sure I am looking forward to the weigh in Monday, not feeling as confident as I'd like but we shall see... The weather has been fabulous so I've been able to get out a lot this week (well, Monday, Tues and today so far...) and I actually will be walking with the hubby and the dogs on our 2 mile trek this evening before it gets dark. This week we've been doing a meal plan I put together from some killer recipes that are in my fitness magazine. Things like chicken satay and peanut sauce, chipotle chicken with roasted potatoes, the BEST mexican style chicken soup I've ever had... so chunky and indulging! Anyway, the magazine had choices for breakfast (300 cal), lunch (400 cal) and dinner (500 cal) which is great because I do 1600 calories so I have plenty of room for popcorn and a smoothie or something, lol! Keeping our Biggest Loser challenge in mind, every day I ask myself (well rather I usually sing it, can't help it LOL) "What have you done today to make you feel proud Rachael?" and this really helps keep things into perspective for me. OK, enough rambling from me! lol... I love reading all of your posts so I'm off to get back at it. I hope everyone is doing really well :) |

This thread is a great idea! Unfortunately I don't think I'm going to have a good weigh in this Monday. :( This week I'm feeling the PMDD kicking in and have been utterly exhausted, falling asleep on the train ride to and from work and nearly ending up at the end of the line! And if that wasn't enough I've got some kind of stomach bug! Queezy yesterday and today so I've been living on soup and toast. Took today as s second day of rest hoping to get back on track tomorrow.

Our plans for walking tomorrow have been altered. We're just going somewhere different; still about the same amount of time walking, but I think there's going to be some water weight on Monday. Might flush that out and put my weigh-in day on Tuesday, which is when everyone else weighs in (my time). :D Managed to slice my finger today cleaning out a tin can (fairly deep cut, but didn't reach the vein or bone). DH mangled the can beyond recognition in his attempt to get it open. Went to lunch with a mate of mine and DH today. The place we wanted to go to was closed (on a Saturday!!!), so I ended up with a chicken, cranberry and camembert panini (only ate 1/2) and a bowl of fruit salad instead of the chips DH and I were going to share (when you order the panini, all you get is the panini). It wasn't a total disaster! I'm starting to figure out that lunch is probably the worst meal for me to deal with. Dinner's okay with just meat and veg and salad, but lunch is a little more difficult. I don't want salad, because I eat a large one with dinner. Sandwiches are getting tiresome and there are so many calories in 2 pieces of bread. Anyone have any ideas? |
Mollz what kind are bread are you able to get in New Zealand? At home I am able to get very low calorie bread that is very yummy. At a resturant I avoid sandwiches because of the bread. Plus they usally butter them here and toast them or put them on the grill. GAH.. makes me fat to even think about it.
dietcokehead- maybe TOM ?? Just stay strong sista! You will get through it. Ok, Rachael- I had a little giggle when I read you sing to yourself. lol Maybe I need to try that. Only when I sing small animals scurry away and plants wither and die! LOL So I actually got up off my lazy bum and exercised today. We live on a hill that is 7 acres. Our house is at the bottom of the hill. DH has been walking to the top of the hill and then to the bottom of the driveway. Its about a 1/4 mile walk and he goes to top and back twice. He is down 10 lbs. He said yesterday, "well, if you do what I do you'd lose" I will never be able to lose like him but I thought I might as well use what I have to exercise. I walked to the top of the hill and back down. ( nearly died! lol) was very out of breath. It's quite a walk. It took me 15 minutes and I was really out of breath. ( I need to take some pictures it is more strenous than it sounds) I was very proud of myself because I haven't been able to walk to the top since last summer. Always before I could get half way up and stop. I WILL CONQUER IT! haha I have two mini goals that I started today that I plan to stick with. 1- exercise (which I did today :woohoo:) 2- not eating after 7pm ( I haven't so far :) ) Normally I get the majority of my calories from snacking after dinner, which is bad, bad, bad for my hips. |

I'm trying for 1390 calories a day, upping it to 1600 three times a week (Mon/Wed/Fri) on my cardio days. I have to specifically ask for no butter on my sandwiches if I order one; it just doesn't have a nice taste when mixed with other food, especially if it's fake butter. :barf: |
I have been buying EarthGrains 35 and it's 35 calories a slice. It is the best tasting "light" bread I have ever found. I get the wheat and my whole family will eat it. Some of the wheat ones they will not touch. I eat bread at home quite a bit because I can have 2 slices for 1 pt. (on WW)
ewwwwww... I don't like fake butter either. Nasty stuff. |
Hey, all! You're welcome, and glad you're enjoying!
So, there's this wagon: mine's a red flyer with racing stripes and a spoiler. It got about a mile down the road ahead of me yesterday. OTOH, where in last efforts I'd be overcome by gloom and doom, wailing and moaning 'woe is me! woe, woe and sadness! With God as my Witness, I'll never be thin again!' This time I'm trying a slightly more sane and sensible approach. Yesterday was crap for being on plan. That was yesterday. This is not yesterday. Ergo, I can be on plan today. In other news, liquid eyeliner is weird stuff, but fun to play with. Off to print out comps reading list and check off what I've already read! --Shrewkate |
Busy week...catching up on all of your posts...my 7yr old is chomping at the bit to get on the computer - but I wanted to say hi. Things are going well - I'm recovered from mastitis, but methinks my milk supply has tanked. Started feeding the baby some formula after lunch and at snack. Kinda sad - but the kid has 4+ teeth and is chewing on me...kinda not so sad to see the bottle getting the abuse. Psyched for the weigh in - wish I could've exercised more this week. But as Shrewkate reminded me, all we have is today. |
Shrewkate, thanks for creating this thread.
Mollz, you are too funny!!! We love Reid!! My DH wants to be a profiler for the FBI now because of that show. She is in college going after her phd in psychology. She wants to be Reid. I’m more of a Shemar Moore kind of gal. (yum) I miss Gideon. I hope he comes back. Reid mentioned him in last week’s show. I wonder if that’s building to a come back? Great job on the lunch! Rachael, yay the cards are out of the playoffs!!! Happy birthday! I love that, “What have you done today to make you feel proud?” Great idea. I always ask myself that when the show comes on. Do you have a favorite team yet? Violin, who would have thought so many people would have a thing for Reid? Mollz & squeak, have you ever substituted avocado for your mayo/butter? It has a decent chunk of cals but very tasty! Squeak, your place sounds so cool. Pixie, I’m glad you’re feeling better. Just think, you can eat as much fish as you would like now. That’s my glass is ½ full encouragement. I can’t believe you are psyched for weigh-in. Have you had a big drop? (other than venturing into the Onederful Onederland?) I am dreading Monday. I hate the scale. I want to shoot my scale and then set it on fire after running it over a few times with my truck. I’m ignoring it until Monday. If it doesn’t say 209.5, it will be it’s demise. |
Hey all! I'm on vacation and am walking sooooooooooo much! I'm in San Francisco, was just in Las Vegas and am sticking to my calories and walking, walking, WALKING! ;) I'll have regular access to a computer on Tuesday and will be back to participating regularly. Best of luck to all! ;)

Hi ladies!
Well I'm not looking forward to tomorrows weigh in. I was so sick on Thursday and Friday with a stomach bug of some sorts, I couldn't keep much of anything down exept for carb loaded toast. :( Then Saturday and Sunday(today) I've been so weak. I was able to get the diet on track again though, just too weak to work out. Add PMDD to that and I feel miserable. Good thing Fox Reality channel had a Biggest Loser Season 4 Marathon going all weekend! :D Oh I did treat myself to a new cookbook though! I was looking for something that had nutrional info and not a lot of expensive wierd ingredients. What I found was The Biggest Loser Family Cookbook-Budget Friendly Meals Your Whoel Family Will Love. I figure since I'm single and cook for myself only, cook once have plently of healthy leftovers for lunch and dinner later. It's writen by Chef Devin Alexander from the Food Networks Healthy Decadance show. I love her! She takes all those recipies that we all love and makes them over into healthy versions. :chef: I made a simple Grilled Chicken Parmesian with green beans tonight. Tomorrow, since I have the day off from work for the Martin Luther King Jr Holiday I'm going to make "New Favorite Meatballs" 8 meatballs has 194cals and "Bench Press Bell Peppers" bell peppers stuffed with brown rice, ground turkey, mint, feta, egg whites and salt. For only 311cals!! And that was just with my first cruise through the book. It has wonderfully healthy and easy deserts too. his way I can just freeze it and know that I have healthy meals ready to heat and eat. :chef: Tomorrow I'm also going to get back on the workout wagon. One more good nights sleep and I should be okay. |
Violin Jenn made me hungry. :) PS Glad you're feeling better.
|
My frelling TOM decided -now- was a good time to show up. Hey, presto, the 2 lbs lost since onset of challenge are back! WTH, pounds??! Who said you could come back??
OTOH -- at least I'm not my poor roommie. She had to have an emergency root canal this AM. She's a little wasted just now, and wants to know when we went for the tie-dye motif on the wall. |
Well I got a good start for next weeks weigh in! I'm feeling better and stronger today. I did JM 30DS level 1 5lb weights then BL Cardio Max levels 1 & 2 (lol...by this point Jillian and Bob had me gargling my heart) then followed up with BL Weightloss Yoga level 1! That's a work out of 1hr and 10min! Excellent start!
Let's keep up the hard work ladies! |
Jenn you are becoming an exercise freak! ;)
shrewkate- Must be TOM for several of us. I HATE it! It makes me angry, and weepy and I hate feeling like that. I am thinking that's why I had the tiny amt of loss last week and then no loss this week. It usually messes me up for a week and a half or so, sometimes two.:mad::mad: Doing good today. All my meals and snacks are planned out, exercise planned now I just have to do it. My friend did bring me a Chikfila yogurt parfait for lunch. So instead of the jello and apple I brought for dessert I ate the parfait. I'll eat the jello and apple tomorrow with my lunch. |

Hey, all! haven't quit, just wish my sinuses would. I'm getting sick & tired of being, well, sick & tired. I kinda wanted to get -work- done this weekend. Not get over crud.
Hates teh crud, we does, precious. |
All RIGHT!!
So who's totally stoked for weigh in on Monday!! Not ME!! :( Laying in bed for 2 days with a busted head and then the rest of the week lazing about trying to recover has not helped my weight loss efforts. Me - well, I'll be happy to maintain. Anyone else? |
I have been trying to kick some butt this week. Mostly my own! I have exercised everyday since Monday. Last night I tried a DVD that I have had forever but never used. Biggest Loser Cardio Max. I loved it! I felt so good afterward. I will probably do it again later today, plus I just came inside. We had a dead tree cut down and limbs where everywhere. I picked up limbs until my shoulders are burning (almost an hour). There is still more but I will leave those for another day it's nice outside.

Hope your head is feeling better now that you're kind of up-and-about. Kiddies enjoying having a little time off school? ;) I'm looking forward to weighing in. I've been tracking my weight all week and it's seen a pretty good amount go. With next week being a normal week, we'll see about week 4. :D |
Looking forward to weighing tomorrow. I'm anxious to see if I made any progress. Being 25lbs from goal, I want it bad!
|
Aww, Mortonpixie, I'm sorry to hear you are down for the count this week, I hope you recover quickly!
I'm looking forward to weigh in... I've restrained myself from checking before THE day this week. I've been working out hard, I think I need to take a rest day! I think my body's telling me to rest today... I haven't decided to do that yet, I keep looking at the treadmill and thinking "one more mile" I have band practice today which proves to be a serious work out LOL I'm know I'm far away, but I'm dying to see 150! I haven't been there in years. |
I know I've dropped .5lbs since the last weigh in, but I'm hoping for a full lb by tomorrow morning. Still doing 6am treadmill 3x a week, strength training on odd days. Yesterday was clean the cars/house/go to the mall-i figure I walked for at least 3 hours all told. Today it's grocery store and laundry.
I can't believe I'm not really losing. Maybe it's PMS. My TOM is next week-hope its not TMI :) |
Morton? WTH happened, hon? How'd you break your head?
Last week, I wouldn't have -minded- breaking my head, mind. Particularly if a guillotine was involved. Having the crud sucks. OTOH, apparently having the crud has been good for my scale movement. I've adopted bunny2 for my dancing icon, 'cause I'm DOWN TEN!!!! I find it reinforcing to go Do Things to show how far I've come. In the past, thanks to Costco, this has been to get out both 4-pound units of butter and stack them up. Well, we didn't need butter this week, so I did some math and found that volume wise, 4 blocks of butter are about the same as 1 2.5 lb 'block' of coffee. I am no longer hauling around 2 blocks of coffee & 2 blocks of butter. It makes an impressive stack. And now, I shall dance. :bunny2: --Shrewkate . . |
I am laughing to myself because I have been avoiding this thread because I thought it was discussion about the Biggest Loser show. I don't really watch it, so I didn't think I'd have anything to contribute. Now, I know and will visit regularly! :)
|
Dear Scale,
Why do you hate me? What have I EVER done to you? Why won't you move? I work and work and log and log and cleanse and cleanse and in return I get NOTHING!!!!! Try to be kind, Amy |

Dear wetware: Well, I have Issues, or Rather, subscriptions. I suffer from chip envy of the 5-person, 3-position memory set special gadget your neighbor bought from Sharper Image. It's slimmer than I am, and it can do more, too. I'm just pretty fed up with all the people. with the, you know -- things, touch fingers, form Os? -- Thumbs. That's it. Nothing personal. My numbers are just stuck in the 'naughties. No love, Scale :joker: *Shrewkate ducks and runs like ***** |
Omg, Skullarix, is that Oded Fehr? He is HOT! Nice job on holding off weighing in. I totally lack any will power in that area. I weigh almost every day. I’m paranoid to let a whole week go by thinking I’m doing good only for my cals to be off or something. Are you in the east or west valley?
Jenn, that is SO awesome! 25#s totally isn’t that much at all! Squeak, you’re so cute. I can just picture you outside picking up branches thinking, “ I’m burning calories!” Did you ever figure out the rec center/babysitter situation? Pixie, are we weighing in on the 31st for the last time or on the 1st? I think you posted it somewhere but I get lost so easy here still. Kate, whoo-hoo for your 10# mark! Def worth a bunny! BeachBreeze, lol about the Biggest Loser show. Welcome! We don’t even discuss the tv show because Pixie doesn’t see it until a week after it’s on. I’m still trudging along. The scale is still being kind to me. We just found out tonight that my DH’s family is having a reunion in May. I can’t even begin to tell you how THRILLED I am that I am already on my way with my weight loss! Don’t you hate it when you go to these things wishing that you had lost weight? That won’t be me this time! Woot! Anyway, I’m anxious to see the numbers for the challenge. Is there going to be a winning team at the end? I joined without really knowing anything about it. -Mel. |
Good Morning Ladies.
Just wanted to stop by with good news...I'm down 3 pounds so far this week! Not sure how, but I am sooo happy. I feel like I'm on my way to looking great for my cousins wedding in June....plus we are taking a cruise, so I have to be in bathing suit shape. Hope you are all having a great week so far. I hope my momentum can carry me to a great weigh in next Monday. Thanks for your support and posts :-) |
Mel- Community center does accept 12 year olds for certain classes. DD will turn 12 on March the 3rd so we are going to join after her bd. Right now I am working on with the BL DVD's and I hate DVD's but I really like Bob Harper, doesn't hurt that he's a cutie and he is so sweet. Cardio Max is the one I have. Going to check out Amazon right now and see what other BL DVD's I can get.
Shrewkate- you are so funny. Had me giggling out loud and everyone came into the clinic to see what was wrong with me. :D staffingchick- WTG! 3lbs :woohoo: You are already a skinny mini, look at you with impressive stats. Inspires me to get my butt in gear and get this extra weight off. |
Squeak351...THANKS for the compliment, but the pic of me is when I'm about 10 pounds lighter than I am right now. I call it my "fighting weight"! LOL! I though it would give me some inspiration to post it. It feels great to have so much support on here...I know we can all reach our goals!

Arnolds makes 100 calorie sandwich thins. They come in honey wheat, Multi grain wheat, and White wheat (my fav). They do the job, and you'd be dropping 100 calories off your sandwiches! Do they sell them in NZ? ;) |
