My first workout

  • I have just done my first workout with my diet. It was great and awful at the same time. I was crying half way through. It is the Biggest Loser 30 Day Jumpstart DVD. It starts with 10 minute workouts week one. And then 20 min week 2, 30 min week 3 and 40 min week 4. All progressing and having days of cardio and strength training.
I started thinking "10 minutes...who can't do that??" ME it seems!!!!! I could not do some of the simple things that they had on there. They did have an older woman doing a modified version - I am ashamed to say that I had to keep up with her. Half way through I just felt like such a failure and can't even believe that I used to work out 6 times a week just because it was FUN!!! Now, I can't even do 10 minutes of cardio!!!
Not really sure of WHY I let myself get this far gone...but I am sure of the fact that I will not keep it this way.
The dvd dept me going because all of these people were contestants and they KNOW where I am!! They are not bone thin now and they just want to be healthy. The leader kept saying "if you can't do it, just do what you can. You are off the couch" and THAT kept me from just having a break down.
Thanks for letting me ramble. Feels better to have it off of my chest.
    Now...to prepare for tomorrow's workout!!

  • I know you just wanted to vent. I like how you got it off your chest and now you're moving on.

    I think you are AWESOME!!
  • Ur my hero for even attempting it! There is a boot camp in the nearest town to me right now...but I'm ashamed to go because I'm afraid they will laugh at me! I'm sticking to walking for awhile because I'm a chicken. You rock, girl!

  • You should be very proud of yourself for getting through it and not giving up, and for doing it all over again tomorrow! Now THAT's the way to make a change, freakin' awesome girlfriend
  • I can totally relate! I can only last about 18 minutes into cardio, but we will both keep trying.
  • Today I did my 3rd day of working out!! Day 2 was easier than day one and day 3 was better than that!! Thanks for all of your support!!
  • That's great nassmom .... I find exercise improvements are great for motivation ......

Great job nassmom! You're an inspiration to just get up and do it!
  • Don't feel too bad! I haven't even worked up to doing cardio yet! I'm just doing stretches, 5 days a week for 15 minutes and 2 days a week for 30 minutes... It won't be another two weeks before I even attempt cardio. Just attempting it shows you have more guts than I do! Be proud!
  • Congrats on your progress! When I first tried the 30 Day Shred video, I thought I was going to die. I couldn't move for three days -- I was shocked, because I could run for twenty minutes, go on walks for hours, etc. But that video left me gasping for air. But, as you are now experiencing, it does get easier. That workout video is still tough for me (I'm still on level one), but I can do it without gasping or breath or feeling tired the next day. I guess it's just a matter of getting over the initial shock of a new exercise routine. Keep up the good work!
  • Thanks for the support!!! I am still on it and I LOVE it!!!!! Exercise makes me feel so much better!!

  • Nice work on giving it a go! I remember playing my first soccer game at the tender age of 33 and asking the ref how much time was left. I was blotchy and wheezing and thought I might throw up. When he said 20 minutes till the half I just about gave him a punch. I thought the whole game would be over. It is so hard starting the cardio thing, but well worth it! (Even stairs are not an option the next day.) lol
  • Rock on! You did an awesome job! It's all baby steps, a little change here and a little change there. Keep it up!
