Smile new here and FRUSTRATED

Hi my name is Heather and I am 34 years old. I have 2 boys, 6 and 9.
I am struggling with this weight loss thing.
Last March I was at my thinnest at 139 lbs. I am @ 5'5" tall.
After a very stressfull year, and a horrible lack of self control I weigh in at @ 177.
I know I have a "problem" with food. I eat mindlessly for taste. I have this mentality lately "I will eat whatever I want tonight, and start my diet tomorrow"...that has lead to tomorrow never happening and lots of weight gain.
I have tons of cute fall clothes that I can no longer fit into, and I am horrible depressed.
I would like to join you guys..I really need huge amounts of help and support. I'm new to the forum thing so Ihope I'm doing this right.

Hi, Heather!

I think that we have a lot in common and I went on this site tonight to look for support too. I always read the posts here, but I almost never post myself - that will have to change if I want to make some changes.

I am also 34 with 3 boys - 5 and twin 2 yr olds. School will be starting soon and I am a teacher so I'll be back at work. I always blame my eating on my busy schedule, balancing work and home. The truth is I eat way too much - it is how I deal with the daily stress. I've been trying to lose the same 30 lbs for the past few years. Isn't it hard to make yourself a priority?

Hope we can help each other!

Heather,

I'll start with the ticker...go to your User CP, which there is a link to at the top of the page, first one on the purple bar. Go to your signature and paste the code for the ticker into your signature and it will show up everytime you post.

Come join us on the daily thread!

Hi Cindy and Heather my name is Laurie. Im 32, a mom to 2 girls 6 and 18 months. I really like the sounds of your posts and was thinking maybe we could sort of keep tabs on eachother and chat once and awhile. Seems like we are all going through the same stuff. I usually just read posts and I dont post anything. I dont know why. I guess I dont like the whole AA thing of like my name is Laurie , IM 32 and have a weight problem. Sooo weird. Anyway, if you are interested, you can send me a message and we can see how we are all doing. Also, through reading these posts, I found fitday.com and am putting what I eat and how much I work out and keep a diary of all the stuff I am thinking. Hope it helps you.

Default Sounds great Laurie

I would love to have someone to help me feel I need to be accountable if that makes sense. Tons of times I eat out of boredom, so I would love to be able to get on the computer or check up on everyone as as way to get my mind off food.
RIght now that is the "highlight" of my day. What good thing can I put in my mouth. I need to get to the point where food is for survival, not the only thing on my mind at all times.

I'm like you all. Mindless eating, I struggle with portion sizes and bad food choices. That's what has gotten me here I am a firm believer of Weight Watchers it really works for me. I know what I need to do it's just keeping the motivation and doing it.

Tiffanie,

What is weight watchers like? I have always wanted to know. Do you meet lots of other nice people there? Is it expensive? Right now I am doing sort of low fat and lower carb. Eating a breakfast bar and huge water for breakfast or water and a whole wheat multigrain toast with peanut butter (the fifty fifty kind with no sugar) and about half a banana (sliced on top). YUmmy and filling. I have lunch around noon, either a wrap or left overs, a small snack at 4 or 5 and dinner at 7, we usually have a stir fry. I have been cheating with the birds eye frozen ones and adding more veggies so that it feeds 4 instead of 2. I seem to be doing ok. Do you think I would benefit more from weight watchers? I def. dont want to fail at this.

Heather,

I hear ya. About 5 years ago my DH moved us to Phoenix for his work. All my family lives in NH so I had no family and no friends and worked from home and took care of my one year old. I was always thinking about food because I had WAY too much time on my hands to obsess. I used to force myself to get up. Put on work out clothes, bike for a half hour and weight train for about 20 mins. Then took a shower and got dressed in something cute, put on makeup, did my hair, and then ate breakfast. Then would wake up my daughter feed and dress her and take her to the play area in the mall or the library or something like that. What I mean with all that blabbing is that I made sure to have time for me to do what I needed to do...stopped the lazys (not saying you are but I totally could be) by doing my thing first thing and getting dressed. There is something about the whole getting up first thing and getting ready and going out makes it feel more energetic and more alive. It is sooooooo easy to get depressed being home all day. I totally feel for you!!! My only advice is get out of the house as much as you can and get involved with groups or whatever to keep yourself occupied. Have you tried that?

Hi, all!

Sorry I haven't been back on the computer in a while. It's so nice to hear that we're not alone!

I can definitely relate to the idea that being home can leave too much time to think about food - I've felt that way all summer! I once read that the best way to combat that was with a great start to the day as Laurie suggests, but by the afternoon I feel back where I started if they day isn't a busy one. I've been trying so hard to have plans - playdates for the boys mostly. It helps. I attend WW every Wed night. I used to go with a group of my neighbors whom I also walk with M, T and Th nights, but now it is only me out of our group at the meetings. They keep promising to come back and I hope they do, but I am the one who has the real weight to lose. The meetings are motivational, but I haven't really been on program past lunch. I start out well every day, but as soon as I get stressed or I am at someone's house with good food I go back to my old ways.

Thanks for listening!

Default ya...I know

I had a really hard time with the mommy and me groups. There was so much competition to be the bets mommy and so many people had such strange ideas. I couldnt go for more than 1 or 2 sessions and would drop out. I was living in Phoenix and there was this group a friend told me about called meetin.org. There were lots of activities and it got me out of the house for book clubs, biking, meeting other moms, and stuff like that. Also made me feel not sooooo isolated. Are you in a city or a more rural area, Heather?
