Good Morning!! I have been seriously MIA--between MIL, Tonsillectomy, Fractured ankle, I havent had any me time.."It" has gone back home, #2 is back at school doing great and #3 has gotten used to the cast so she is heading strong now....
Ok--no excercise--not really following the diet--not journaling and not drinking water--I am still maintaining...I think the last few are the hardest to move...
Hello to all the Newbies!!!
Ok off to work!!!
Hello to everyone again!!!
RR
YEah i did it...i finally did it. I set my alarm for 5.30 this am and actually DIDNT hit snooze, dragged my lazy butt out of bed and went and workout...woohoooo. I've set my alarm two other times this week for that and i just ended up going back to bed. So yeah for me. Alright now for some serious java.
hey there RR...welcome back
hey tawn-a notebook journaling is great. Also if you are by a computer a lot there is a wonderful FREE website called fitday.com that can help you journal.
ok guys off to browse around and drink my java...then a shower before work. Have a great one!!!!!
and to make it even better...i just added to my food diary in fitday. Yeah i'm trying to be very very good. ok now i must really run. Will be a very busy day at work...maybe if i'm lucky (doubt it) i'll get a lunch break. I'm the only doctor today (boss out of town) so i have surgeries in the morning and apts start at 1. Woohooo busy day!
To all of the ladies/gents that have been here participating on the daily thread for a long time-you should really be giving yourself some serious credit. Not just for the wonderful attitudes you display and the weight loss goals being met and the family/work lives you lead...but for the influx of newbies joining on! I think I can speak for a lot of us that we were drawn to the daily thread because of your suggestions & support!!! So more newbies showing up is a great testament to your efforts!
BTW-when do we newbies get to drop our newbie title? LOL I'll say it one more time this week: THANK YOU EVERYONE who has been so fabulous about welcoming me here!!!
GG-do you mind if I ask what type of doctor you are? (I just feel bad because I know I'm seeming awfully nosey asking a lot of questions about all the regulars. So, if I'm ever being too intrusive someone tell me!!!)
Ok, well I'm off to grab my coffee and get ready for my returning jurors....they have a very sensitive case about to wrap up tomorrow and they need me bubbly and energetic to motivate them!
Ugh, had a horrible night's sleep...DS#2 was up half the night, wandering around the room! When DH woke me up at 6:00, I just wanted to call in sick. Not sure what's up with the little guy.
Melinda...you are soo sweet! I, for one, will say you give us old timer's too much credit. I have been here since Feb. '99 and feel kind of like a failure, because when I first started this journey, I was 26.4 lbs. lighter than I am now!! How's that for goign the wrong way?! I had lost about 20 lbs. initially, then met DH and we both gained 20 lbs. the first year together. We're just about to celebrate our 6th wedding anniversary (on Saturday!) and instead of being in better shape, like we swore we would be,we both look and feel like crap. Geez, sorry, didn't mean to unload like that! But anyway, I am starting to feel that good, stick-with-it motivation I felt back in '99, so hopefully this is it!
GG, good girl getting up to exercise and journalling!
RR, good to see you back, and see that you made it through MIL's visit. Sounds like you haven't taken your ill: this AM though!
Lauren, Happy Anniversary!!! Sorry to hear about Robby, hope he's doing better tonight. Maybe you can take a nap when you get home?
RR, I'm glad to hear that you made it through your MIL's visit, and that everyone else is doing fine (and rarin' to go).
Melinda, I don't know when exactly your not a newbie. I think I felt it after 6 mos. Of course when I joined, not many joined after me for a while. I would think your not a newbie when you are comfortable and know most people. Of course that means I go back to being a newbie sometimes.
PS Gator is a vet.
GG, good for you for getting up and exersizing. I am sure you will have more energy to tackle the office today.
Alright I was so happy the last 2 days because it was over seventy, and today I woke up to snow. This is soo not fair.
Lisa: I hear ya-we were down to high 40s yesterday (72 the day before) and this morning I had snow too! Blech! By next week we're supposed to even out in the 50s-60s from here on out! I hope so because my vaca is set for 2nd week in April! Thanks for the answers too! Ok....well by 2008 I'll be officially a "regular." Sorry everyone, I love that dancing carrot...can't get enough of him.
GG-A vet? Very awesome. Little "exotic pets" too? Just wondering because I have a very active little hamster girl that I can't get to stop eating the heck out of her tank....she stands on her tippie toes and gnaws away. She's totally spoiled and has TONS of other stuff to chew on. She's determined to escape. Silly little gray monster!
Yes it's silly, I'm not a real mommy, but I do think of Vittori as my daughter!
Lauren: Congrats from me too about your upcoming anniversary! Big plans? Ya know, about the weight gain since your wedding time, I really think you're being too hard on yourself. The important thing is that you both are able to distinguish between eating clean/working out= feeling good vs. eating crummy/not exercising = feeling bad. Just think how horrid it would be if you felt no difference...there would be NO motivation @ all then. Sometimes just knowing that you're still a role model to all of us newbies might help brighten your day a little. With that said, GET BACK ON TRACK!
I keep hearing about FitDay, so I think I'm going to break down and finally check it out since I haven't got a clue.
I'm DRINKING WATER TODAY ALL!!!! Yeeeehaw! Melinda
Melinda, Actually, yeah, we have plans to go to dinner and a hotel tomorrow night! Don't know if it's gonna work out though, because while it was close to 80° yesterday, it's supposed to get down to 30° tonight and snow tomorrow!! The hotel is actually pretty close to home, but it's got a jacuzzi tub in the room and that's why we're going! We stayed there 2 yrs. ago and loved it. If it's nasty out, we may just cancel and wait until another weekend to go. Thanks for the cheer...I'm tryin'!
Lisa, A nap?! What's that?! Actually, I'm leaving here at 1:00 today, because i have to take Peter to the Neurologist to go over the b/w and see about drugs. He's going back to daycare after though, so I will probably go shopping. Although a nap would be nice!
hey guys just a five minute break to decompress...yes i am a vet for everyone....and today has bennh HELLLLLL! lol. only half way through surgery list...had 3 emergencies, a great dane with bloat, a small poodle seizuring and a dog hit by a car. Ughhh i love being the only vet here. So must get back to surgeries...get them done before my apts...luckily my receptionist were able to reschedule my 1 o'clock for later. YEAH...cuz at the rate i'm going...i'm not going to survive. Oh yeah and btw melinda...we see all small animals including pocket pets...our policy is if it fits in the door we'll see it...we've seen chickens, pot belly pigs, and even goats. WEll i'll catch up more ppl. sorry to be so short. Got to get back to my drop offs and surgeries...and yes btw...exercising gave me a huge energy burst...my techs were laughing at me at 8 am being so darn motivated. bye all...be back later.
GG, I have to laugh, I was a receptionist at a vet clinic for about a year or so and it was probably my favorite job to date! We had a couple of Vietnamese pot belly pigs (they were small) come in and it was hilarious that the only way to get these things to do what you wanted...like walk onto the scale, was the feed them a line of food right onto it! Hang in there, I remember those crazy days where even the emergency slots were filled!
It's been a crazy few days around here!! I've been trying to be good and keep up with laundry and housework along with all the errands and stuff. I like spending all my time on the computer a lot more! Oh well, at least I will have a clean house for company on Saturday night. We decided to feed them pizza from a special place here. They have the best pizza I have ever had. I will do my best not to be too piggy!
I had my follow up appointment with the doctor today and things weren't great, but not as bad as I thought they would be. My sugar was high, but the test that gives your overall glucose was good so he said that it was probably because of the sugary breakfast cereal I had. My cholesterol was high but should be handled with diet and exercise (duh!) and lastly my thyroid is low so I have to start meds for it. The good news about that is that it will help me with the wt loss. So, not all bad news.
Lauren: I'm so there with you on the kids and sleeping! It must have been in the air in NJ. We stayed up late watching a movie then when we went to bed Cass was UP. I finally got up with her instead of worrying about her falling out of the bed. We stayed up about 40 min and then went back to bed. I had just gotten to sleep when Alex decided it was time to come in with us and he needed to be welded to me. When we woke up this morning Andy and I were squished into 1/3 of our king size bed and the kids had the other 2/3! SNOW?!?! Here? Tomorrow? Dang. I have to check the weather more often! Congrats on the anniversary!! Hope your night works out.
RR: Glad that "IT" is back home where she belongs and life is settling down for you. When does girlie get her cast off?
GG: Whew, you are one busy lady. I love all the vet shows on Animal Planet. I hope you aren't run too ragged today.
Lisa: I'm with you on the weather. I enjoyed yesterday so much and now I hear it's supposed to SNOW here tomorrow. YUCK!!
GG!!! Way to go girl, I am sooo proud of you for getting up early. Not hitting the snooze button is the hardest thing in the world sometimes. But, don't you just love that surge of energy you have all day?!?!?
Lauren- I look at all of the stuff I have in my life going on right now and the thought of putting kids and husband in the mix makes my toes curl. So, I love that you are getting that old motivated feeling again and please don't feel like a failure. Failing is not an option, it was just a slip, but you are getting back on the wagon. Also, take the nap, you'll Lurve it.
Melinda- I am with you on how well received we have been. I find myself coming straight to the site anytime I have a moment on the computer.
I know this won't make it all better for those of you who are experiencing temperature fluctuations. But, I work in the arctic and when I left work it was -48 degrees ambient and -75 with the windchill factor....and had been for 6 days straight. So, the 50 and rainy was a welcome change when I got home. Unfortunately, in a week and a half I will have to go back to the cold. So I am wishing you all spring flowers and sunshine after this week. It will be wonderful after such a rough winter.
Starting off good for the day and will keep drinkin' the water and avoiding the cookies and ice cream.
Tawna
wowsers tawna...darn that's cold. I'd freeze my lil southern bum off. But hey good for you. And yes you are right...i had a surge all morning...but definately started crashing at around noon.
Okay all....so i survived...barely. I'm an sooooooooooooo exhausted. I only had a few minutes lunch and back to work. Luckily no more emergencies..i just finished all the boarding dogs that were checked in..now i get a small break. I wish i could just run home, but unfortuantely i'm helping doing a puppy training class and i can't miss tonight. So i definately expect to pass out shortly after getting home. I will make a HUGE attempt to exercise again in the am since it looks like it might be another busy day....and i really have a bunch of medical records from this week i had to catch up.
KarenK- i think you'll be amazed at how much better you will feel once they start you on thyroid meds. I am not personally hypothyroid but i know how it makes my animal's feel once they get on thyroid meds. Pretty much same concept in humans. I love diagnosising animals that are hypothyroid since its the easiest thing to diagnose (blood work) and it takes care of a lot of problmes that the animal was having...ie skin issues, overwt etc...and the owners think its completely amazing.
LBH...pot belly pigs i really try to avoid them after my last insident ....its ok if they are normal size pigs...but the lady forgot to inform us that her pig wan over 200 lbs (some how i doubt it was a pot belly). We aren't set up with chutes and what not for large animal..it was the most difficult animal and was here for a stupid bath..and nail trim...what a freaking night mare. After that incident...i don't touch the pigs..i let my boss do the pigs LOL
BTW..i also was good and journaled everything in fitday today. Ouch..i broke down around 3 and got some M$M's and a can of coke..to help keep me going...just logged it in fitday and that added a lot of calories...it was definately worth it though...and i think with the day i had definately helped me. Alright all...guess i'm out of here...maybe see ya later
Hi all! I too like this thread...the daily set up. It's so easy to keep track of the messages. The weekly ones are overwhelming. And everyone is very nice and inclusive.
My son (3 y.o.) just walked in, and I thought he said that he wanted some chocolate. I said no bc it's late and he had a piece today. Then I notice that he wasn't asking...he was announcing that he was eating chocolate! He had a huge bar that he'd gotten off the counter and was gnawing on it like a giant rat! On the bright side it was dark chocolate, so at least he's getting some antioxidants. Haaa! He's going to be bouncing off the walls (and up all night).
Everyone hang in there with the weight loss. I think I'm down 3 lbs since I joined, but I'm not moving my pig until I maintain for a few days.
btw, I think I cursed myself for mocking my Ipod music. I went to the gym that day, and my Ipod was frozen. No music!!! It made the entire thing seem twice as long.
First I am sorry about my post yesterday. I was at the end of my frayed rope.
GG - 5:30! In the morning? I do have to admire you for that. Good for you.
Flitter - Thanks for the story. I just started cracking up. I sure needed the pick me up. I don't have kids, but I can just picture a cute little boy with a huge chocolate bar.
Lauren - well now I don't feel so bad about having to start over EVERY day. You would think I could just make a commitment to my health. But have a very happy anniversary. Hope you get to the jacuzzi tub!!! Enjoy
