I've decided to start a thread for Lent. Our Lord was able to resist temptation for 40 days and 40 nights. He was our role model, and I would like to resist temptation, too. So, for Lent I've decided to eat within 1200-1400 calories during the week and have up to 1600 calories on weekends. Plus I will exercise every day. I'm giving up being out of control and resisting temptation. That's nothing compared to His fasting for 6 weeks.
Anyone want to join me in this Lent Challenge? You can do whatever you want for Lent.
Well, I made it through today! It's funny it's like whenever you say you're going to do something like stick with a certain plan, you're suddenly tempted to blow it, but I didn't, thank God. I drank my water and ate veggies instead. I also got on the treadmill for an hour!
I'm going out of town tomorrow, but I promise to be good.
I'm so happy to say that I ate 1400 cals and exercised on the treadmill for an hour. Usually weekends are hard for me, but because I challenged myself to stay strong for Lent, I did it.
Like I said yesterday, weekends are usually tricky for me, but now I have a higher purpose. Rather than think of myself and what I want to eat, I think of this special time of year, and how Our Lord sacrificed for us. I allowed myself 1495 calories today (rather than my proposed 1600 on weekends) and I exercised for an hour.
I went to the doctor on Friday, and he was very impressed with my progress after surgery. More importantly, he was impressed with the fact that I exercise. I guess most of his patients don't exercise. Well, this is my way of thanking God and Jesus for answering my prayers during some very difficult times. I am so grateful.
Just checking in to say I did very well over the weekend, and yesterday I had 1390 cals. and exercised for an hour.
Yesterday when I was driving and had a green arrow to turn, I was nearly hit by another car. The other driver went through a red light going well above the speed limit. I thank God I was turning slowly. Her car skidded all over the road. When she saw we didn't collide, she drove away speeding again like a crazy person, probably going through another red light. I thank God for His protection.
Good job, Den. This is my first post here and I just wanted to say, I am inspired and admire your dedication. Thank you for sharing your faith and commitment to our Lord.
Lucy
I'll join in, a little late...I have been sticking to my lenten plan so far...
Valentine's Day and 2 birthdays before the end of the week, so I will try to stay strong!
I've done well lately! I've even been making it to the gym... but I fell off the bus two nights ago and hurt my leg, so I've had to take a few days off!
