Talking Walkers?

Who here walks for their exercise?

I will eventually do more, especially since I have a gym through work (it's really nice), but right now I'm just going to walk.

Have you heard of gmap-pedometer.com ? It tracks out your route, and it's wonderful!

I don't walk for exercise, I walk to get around everywhere.. I don't have a car or a driver's licence (although I am working on it, hah) I do enjoy it though, but people think im nuts when I walk a mile or more just to get somewhere... hehe.

I never saw that site before.. I'll have to check it out

I do a walking DVD at home (45 minutes, 3 miles). Just started that.
Other than that, I do circuit training 3x a week at the gym, and I walk everywhere I need to go (no license haha). Sometimes I get a ride from the DF or MIL.

I went to that site, but it doesn't have my town. Nor the larger town about 30 mins away

I did look at Calgary, though, and find out how much I was burning when I was walking to/from work. ALOT! Hah

I walk several days a week for exercise, usually at a local dirt path/park thing, the loop is 2 miles, mostly flat but with a few small hills. In the beginning of the year, I was doing this almost every day as my only exercise and counting WW points and the weight just started falling off...I think my body has gotten used to it now though, so I'm trying to add some other more strenuous cardio in there to mix it up, but i still think walking is fantastic exercise and great stress relief.

Although I have a gym membership it has been collecting dust for the past few weeks... .but I have been doing walking exercises at home.. mainly Leslie's WATP DVD. It's high energy, I work up a sweat and really feel like I've accomplished something afterwards.. lol

I'm a WATP woman. I don't do gyms, I don't do exercise where people can see me, period. So WATP lets me exercise at home.

I lost the majority of my weight using walking as my primary exercise. I started with 1.5 miles at my heaviest and now I walk 1 mile run 2 miles. Since recently I've become unmotivated, I haven't been really purposefully exercising at all (and my weight loss stopped, strange, huh?). I know I'll start with the program again when the weather warms up again -- but I have started doing aerobics again so I can get the rest of this darn weight off!!!

But I highly recommend walking. It's fabulous -- but make sure you keep a brisk pace so you can burn maximum calories

I lost weight by just walking... as long as you get up and move you can lose weight.

I walk on the treadmill at an incline. Great workout! It tones and builds lean muscle. (Which is great for me b/c I do not have a gym membership, plus, I hate weights.) Other than that, I lift 5lb hand weights.

I walk on a treadmill about 5 days a week. I alternate between walk/jog intervals, incline intervals, and just a long fast walk. That way my body doesn't get bored.

I use a pedometer so I try to get in extra short walks throughout the day.

Talking

I personally think walking is a great way to get exercise. At work I have 2 - 20 minute breaks and I try to walk on both breaks for about 12 minutes each time I usually can get in a little over half a mile so I am walking about 1 mile 4 days a week. I have recently started doing this but I have in the past walked every day at work on both breaks and sometimes lunch and was 129 at the time and that was pretty much all the exercise I was doing.
