For myself personally I don't even believe in diets, nor does my doctor. I DO eat very healthfully and have changed my eating habits. I don't eat much processed stuff, and eat lots of fruits and veggies, along with protein, etc., and try to stick around 1800 calories a day or so... but I do NOT log them and I eat stuff like peanut butter and cream cheese in small amounts on my breakfast WASA bread, etc. I don't eat junk food at all... but again that is just a healthful lifestyle change and NOT a diet.
And yes I focus a lot on exercise. For me it is working! Not only weight loss but I feel great and my lab reports all came back right where they should be!
Hey, if you can stick to an exercise regimen you are really on the right track! Go for it! Exercise really DOES make a huge difference. Also I would "guess" that as you get into the exercise thing and begin to see a real difference, you will start WANTING to eat right too because you will so much enjoy becoming healthier and fitter.
