Hey Ladies! Well, im thinking of investing in some new Workout videos. Ive already got the biggest loser one but i HATE doing all the lunges they have you do and im looking for something a little different. I was wondering if anyone has every tired those Walk Away The Pounds ones, or if they ahve heard good things about them? I really would like to try something like that if they work, thats more of the kind of workout i would like to do from the looks of it.. Or does anyone have any other recommendations? Thanks!
I had WATP (Walk Away The Pounds) The 3 mile tape, earlier in the series, I'm not sure if they are a little re-vamped now, because I bought my tape 3-4 years ago... But I liked it, it was a good balance, and you can definitely change the impact level... Some little kicks and stuff here and there, but good for limited space... I don't know I really liked it... I also heard the Shape series is really good as well... I have Windsor Pilates, and its in my opinion a waste, I don't get how to do the moves well, and its just hard with limited space... I also have the MTV tapes and those are HARD... definitely not begininer level (Well, maybe I'm just an extreme beginner but read: NOT EASY!)
I have a lot of tapes, most of them are a little too hard and too kicky, like TurboJam and Slim in 6, so if thats not what you're looking for then don't get those! They are like calistenitics (sp?) on happy pills... But some 3FC'ers like them
I REALLY enjoy my Crunch Pilates. I prefer that one over any of the other workout DVD's that I have. It's energetic and omg the workout it gives.
Never have seen WATP but read ALOT about those in the Exercise section of the forum. I think there's quite a few gals who do those. Might check that section out for more advice.
Yeah, I've heard a whole bunch of people swear by WATP. I have three DVDs: Turbo Jam, TaeBo, and PUSH. TurboJam was fun the first few times, then I started having problems with some of the high kicks and was always worried that I was doing the moves right because he goes so quickly through them. Turbo Jam I like better than TaeBo, the instructor is really cute. But still, kicks are a problem. My main issue with both of these is that I have NO coordination, so I can't always keep up with it..... I have two left feet. I probably wouldn't pass a sobriety test if I hadn't had a drink in a year. Etc. PUSH is nice because it's more strength training than cardio, though there is a cardio component which I haven't tried yet. I can keep up with someone who says "do 10 push ups."
Heather thanks for posting this! I'm in need as well. with so many out there it's hard to know which are worth the money, and which are just good for doorstops... LOL!!!
Check out the Nike Women website (nikewomen.xxx - can't post the whole url here), and then click on workouts on the top of the page - there are a bunch of workouts to choose from, and the have streaming video, so you get a variety of workouts for free. Self and Shape also have strength workout videos - I'm all for trying the ones on-line, 'cause I find I always buy things like that and then don't like them so they just sit there as dust collectors.
Thanks for all the tips ladies! Im gonna have to check some of this stuff out. I might try and find a walk away the pounds video soon.. And brit i hear ya on the coordination thing! Omg, im horrible. I cant tell you how many times ive damn near fallen over because im so uncoordinated! haha
Ok, so you guys are probably going to laugh at me for this one, but I LOVE Callanetics....it's a 1970s exercise video but I swear, on my children, that it does make a difference. I've done the tape Friday, Saturday, Monday and tuesday and I'm already seeing results. If you go onto Amazon, you can find it used for under $10. I just wanted to pass it along....Oh, and if you want a serious butt kicking workout, get Jillian's the Biggest Winner or something like that, but be prepared to want to yell at the TV afterwards....it's that tough of a workout.
