Default It's finals week...

...and as exams loom ever closer my health routine gets further and further from my mind. Last week was absolutely awful; I had tons of exams and papers to write, and I felt like I was eating everything in sight. Several times I made myself a gigantic bowl of cheesy pasta or got Chinese take-out when I wasn't even hungry. Is anyone else suffering from some major stress-eating?

Kate- I'm not there yet...but I will be! This is the last week before finals for me !!! And not to mention the Monday after finals we're moving! So I have a lot goin on too!! I have Soooo many things to get done for my classes...not to mention packing, etc! AHHH! so yea, I know how you feel! Stress eating is so bad for me because, like you, I just eat even when I'm not hungry!!! So this is gonna be tough...but we'll get through it

oh this is definitelt the week from ****! i have 2 more papers to write and the scariest exam EVER on Thursday. to top it all off-- i have major job search stress- i am keeping my fingers crossed that job A goes through before I have to tell job B whether or not I want to accept their offer...

here's my strategy:
-make sure to eat healthy-- it keeps me more alert
-go to a cafe or bookstore to study or write and bring my own healthy snack
-release tension through exercise
-realize that this is only a week (or two) of major stress, so if i am a little slack on the diet it is not the end of the world

I know how finals and bad eating goes! I have a presentation, 3 exams, 1 quiz and a paper due this week...and next week I have 3 finals. It's so hard!
It's even harder to exercise! Good luck to all...I'm going to at least try to eat a bunch of fruit and drink water.

I am so lucky that I don't have what you guys have going this week... But... I will next week! Good luck on all of your finals, and I hope your move goes smoothly Jamie! Pilatesgrl, how many classes are you taking? Here, they give you a week before finals where they strongly discourage our professors from giving any exams or any major projects. I couldn't imagine having two weeks from ****! Good luck, though!

Ugh. Finals week, and the weeks leading up to it, are so bad for the diet! Stress, lack of sleep, and lack of time. I have two finals and two huge projects in the next two weeks and yesterday I went out and got Twinkies and peanut butter M&Ms. I don't think I've eaten this much junk since finals last semester! It doesn't help that my dance classes just ended so I need to force myself to exercise instead. Oh well. I think my body decided that I've eaten enough crap for the next month or so and I'll be able to get back to a more sensible eating plan.

No finals for me this year, as I'm taking a year off from university to travel a bit. But I know very well what you're talking about.

Good luck to everyone, you can do it!

And I know it'll sound silly with what you all have going on, but you know what they say: exercise is the first thing people tend to drop from their schedule when it gets too hectic/busy/stressful, while in fact it should be the last thing.
I know for myself that when I'm busy like that, I feel bad about exercising, thinking that I'm wasting valuable paper-writing and study time. But guess what? I never regret that afterwards, exercise helps me relax, regain focus, and I end up being more productive. Sure, it's probably not smart to do as much exercise during an exam week as during a relaxed week, but even a walk outside will go a long way.

I'm definitely there with you. I hate that my finals are always so important, I never have any classes where I can just blow them off. I'm trying to NOT get stressed about anything and I'm hoping I can just do a little bit, or a lot of it when I need to, and keep it moderate. I dont want anymore all-nighters. Although, I know I'm probably going to have one for every exam... Good Luck! I'm right there with you... Good luck! And once its all over, its the summertime...

Good luck everyone! At least it's almost over. I've been eating completely terribly this weekend. Cookies, chocolate, pizza, no fruit/veggies, drank too much last night, and I haven't been exercising since my dance classes finished up. Need to get back on it once things calm down.

Stress makes me seek comfort and comfort for me is pasta or chips. So, if I'm stressed I tend to eat these bad foods.
