Default Off Topic: Need a Change!

I'm so discouraged! I had a job interview this week, and the lady asked me "Why aren't you in school?"....I told her "I'm 25yrs old!"...she was shocked! So it appears that I look ALOT younger then I actually am, and maybe that's one reason I'm not getting a job, I don't know...but it truly is frustrating...people really don't take you seriously when you look 14yrs old...at the age of 25! So I need a makeover...hair, body, everything...I need and want to look my age at least! People always tell me, "oh you'll love being 40 and looking 20...blah blah blah" BUT I'M NOT 40 YET, and being 25 now and people telling me I look 12 to 16 drives me CRAZY!!!!! I HATE IT!!!!!! What can I do......I need suggestions.... By the way...I'm only 5'1"...so my height isn't helping things either!

This is Me Now....

Umm - I think you look like you are in your mid-20s.I would NOT think you were in your teens! Maybe it is because I am also in my mid twenties and people are usually at guessing the ages of their peers.
If you want why don't you make an appointment at a salon for a mini-makeover. I am sure that they would have some good suggestions for you!

You certainly look mid-twenties to me too! Unfortunately I don't have any solutions for you... but when I was a senior in college I used to travel on vacations with my parents and was often asked if I was under 18, as "kids" got to stay in the room free! Bugged the heck out of me. BUT -- and I know you don't like hearing this now LOL -- now that I am almost 59 people were right... I DO love being told I look more like I am in my 40s.

Amanda, I think you look your age as far as your look goes you are just youthful. I am 5'2 and a photographer by profession. Often when I shoot high school events I will get one of the students thinking I am on the yearbook, or even a parent asking me something about the school. It just comes with being short and looking youthful...people just attribute it to teens. I think it was unprofessional of the woman to say that. Nowadays most teens are trying to look like they are in their 20s anyway so I do not even know if dressing more your age (not saying you don't) would do anything for you anyway. I say just accept your blessing...

I'm not sure if it all has to do with height. I'm 5' 11 1/2" and will be 30 this year. People think I'm a college student. I'm okay with that. I'm thinking I'll be looking good when I hit 40.

I think you look in your twenties, but us telling you that doesn't help your situation. to be honest with you I think your bangs make you look younger.
I used to get that too until i cut my hair short...
Normally when I need a change I got to chapters and look through all the hair magazines. when I find a few I like, I take the picture to a salon for a consultation.

Hi!

A shorter haircut might help. Your face would look nice with a cheekbone-length cut. (Not that your face doesn't look nice now! You know what I mean. )Teen girls don't tend to wear their hair short. I haven't been carded at rated R movies since I cut my hair.

Also, when you have job interviews, don't show much skin. Wear a shirt with a high collar, and long pants.

Gaining muscle also helps. Teen girls tend to concentrate on being thin, but not on being in shape. Some muscle tone would set you apart.

Hope that helps!
