Default Weekly Chat 11/14 - 11/20

Good morning everyone,

I am very tired this Monday, but only because I had a fun weekend. And because BF got up at 4:00 am this morning, but laid in bed for an hour (really don't read anything into that - just laid there and hit the snooze) which meant I was up for that hour too. I asked if he wanted me to make him coffee twice but he didn't get the hint. I went to a local outdoor concert Saturday night and went boating with some friends Sunday. It was a gorgeous day yesterday, sunny and just a little bit cool.

My food has been really good all week and weekend! I’ve been keeping calories really low, between 1200-1350, eating good “quality” foods, and exercising. Except for yesterday – calories were pretty low but food quality and exercise lacking. We ended up eating dinner at a friend’s house after boating and I didn’t have much choice in what I ate – classic southern cuisine of pork, grits, cornbread, no veggies in sight – but I ate small portions and I was starving so I really couldn’t wait to eat. Thursday night was a real victory for me. I got home late after rehearsal having eaten some peanut butter and milk but no real dinner beforehand. I wasn’t that hungry but I was tired and depressed. I ate some frozen pea pods, drank some decaf herbal tea, and curled up in bed with a book. I usually feed my emotions with food so I was very proud of myself.

This week will be a challenge. I’m already tired, the play I’m stage managing is going into dress rehearsals and runs Thursday-Sunday, and I can’t leave work early any day to make sure and get a workout in before the play. I’ll just have to try to squeeze in as many runs as possible. I think sleep will be more important because I eat so much more junk when cranky.

Let’s have a great week everyone! Also isn’t this new icon really cute?

I don't see anything--am I missing something??

Glad to hear you had a good weekend, Megan. I went high on calories, but I compensate by going low during the week, so it's all part of an average for the week, so I'm still within a reasonable range (despite the pizza, Chinese food, and diner breakfast...). We didn't do much all weekend but hang out, watch tv, play on our computers, and go grocery shopping. Next weekend, our goal is to finally begin our Christmas shopping (not that I have any clue what to get for anyone!).

Oops, classic send-the-email-forget-the-attachment kinda thing. I swear I'm losing my mind. Here's the icon: Mushy but cute.

I've got to start my Christmas shopping too! What do you buy for boyfriends, anyway? Mine's not normal at all, so I have no idea what to get him. Cologne or a tie aren't going to do it, but he'd sure like a spear gun or some new dive equipment.

HA, I don't know what to get my boyfriend, either! He made a list of like video games and DVDs and books, but I want to get him something more personal or something. I don't know. He doesn't wear cologne and certainly doesn't wear ties--he's a jeans and t-shirt kinda guy through and through (I even had to convince him that, no, it was NOT okay to wear sneakers to his friend's wedding ). Another problemI have is that we don't buy gifts for people the same way. For example, last year, my sister and I sent my parents on a trip to NYC for a weekend and paid for their hotel plus front-row tickets to a musical for their anniversary. Jeff bought his mother a DVD. I'm definitely not saying that I'm better because I spend more money, but I think I sometimes tend to go overboard, and I don't want to get him too much and find that he got me, like, a book, ya know? ARGH, boys!

I wish I had a boyfriend to buy stuff for.
hehe just kidding. However, I do wish I had a boyfriend to buy stuff for me. Even assuming I meet the man of my dreams between now and christmas, it is too late to hope for anything good.

My eating has been very college-studenty this past weekend. I did well traveling, but when I got back I was lonely. I even went to the movies by myself because no one else was free to hang out. And movies means Gummy Bears! Ok, maybe not officially but that day it did. And of course, sugar makes me sooo hungry later so that was just more extra calories.

I got the new issue of Oxygen. That is my absolute favorite fitness magazine, even though I will probably never look like a fitness competitor.

Hope everyone has a good start to their week!!!

HAHA Megan funny boyfriend in the morning story. I am definitely a morning person, but my boyfriend is not (my mom is driving me crazy about that saying, "don't you want a guy who is more like you. do you really love him you never talk about marrying him." it's like HELLO I AM A SENIOR IN COLLEGE I SHOULDN'T BE TALKING ABOUT MARRAIGE). But back to my boy in the morning, I wake up at like 7:30 naturally and just sit in bed and stare at the wall... lately i've just been sneaking out of bed, working out, showering, and then jumping back in bed before he even realizes i'm gone (see so we do technically work).

Hmm what to get the boyfriend for the Holidays. I DON't KNOW!!!!! A suggestions for you girls is last year I bought him a dartboard and he LOVES it. I don't want to get him clothes, I feel like I never do good on gifts (he is much better than me). Anyone else have any successful past presents they would like to share?

I totally know what you mean Lizzie about eating like a college student. My biggest temptation is every morning I get a black coffee for class, but I always see everyone (especially the skinny people buying the chocolate chip muffins and I sooooo want one!!!!)

Hey, ladies. Hope you all had a great weekend! Mine was lots of fun, but way too over-indulgent. I really need to get control of my weekends.

I hear you guys on the BF gifts! I'm really not sure what to get mine. I feel like I did pretty good for his birthday, but I feel like I used up all my ideas in one shot! (shirt, magazine subscription, giftcard to Starbucks and a "my treat" dinner coupon at his favorite place) I should have spread these things out, I'm realizing! Oh, well. I always think multiple gifts are fun. If one sucks, you at least have another shot or two at one being good! I always worry about picking out the right gifts!

Well, this week will be busy workwise. Hopefully, I can get everything done that I need to and still manage to spend some quality time exercising.

Hope you all have a great week!

Take care,
Jina

The last few gifts i purchased my man were... ipod, creature speakers... ect. I'm trying to save for an MPC but they are just toooo expensive for me right now.

This weekend i didn't go out once, but i did have 'INnOUT' last night. I'm surprised how LONG it took me to finish a burger. Half way through i thought i was going to explode. Right now i'm just eating oatmeal.

Well time to take a shower and go to some fitness, then back to work.

xo girls!

I used way too many points this weekend (I blame the beer and the wine, not me!) but am back on target.

HB and I are doing more wedding planning, which will keep up busy this week too!

Happy Monday all!

Hello everyone! I ate poorly this weekend (see the food log thread, ugh!). My friends who I hadn't seen in a long time were in town, and I took them to get local food. Mostly I was angry with myself not that I went and ate unhealthy foods, but that I didn't stop eating when I was full. On Saturday at lunch, I had this dish at a restaurant that had three chicken tacos and rice and beans, and I was full after one taco, but I ate the second, then BF asked if I was full and I said yes and gave him the third, then I continued to munch on rice and beans until he literally took my fork away from me. I was so glad he took it though. The next night at dinner with different friends, there were five of us and we ordered bruschetta which came with only four pieces, so BF suggested that he and I share a piece. I really don't know what I would do without him around (I guess that's why I'm going to marry him, right?).

OTOH, I did a LOT of walking this weekend. Yesterday friends came up right after lunch (= good healthy lunch for me), then we walked all over a state park, then walked all over downtown Providence (about 4-5 hours of walking, including some major hills). The day before we walked all over Boston, and the day before that we walk around museums and the beach. I don't think it was quite enough to make up for all the eating though.

I bought some cranberries at the store because I couldn't resist them, and I made them into yummy and HEALTHY muffins! The recipe made 12 muffins, each of which is only like 130 cals (the whole recipe had 1/3 C sugar and 1 Tbsp oil only!). Not the yummiest muffins ever, but still yummy and healthy!

I hear you all on the BF gift dilemma. My problem with my BF is that he doesn't want anything. He like never wants anything, he is always satisfied with what he has. I usually end up getting him books or ties or candy. Or stuffed animals (monkeys), it is kind of a tradition with us. His birthday is coming up too (Dec. 13) so I really need to figure something out! Seriously, I think the only things he really wants are a new job and a house (neither of which I can give him!). I guess he needs new shoelaces, I did actually buy him shoelaces as part of a birthday present once before. Maybe I will bake for him. Hmmmm.

Super-busy at school this week for me, I am excited about going away for T-day all next week, except it means I have to do twice as much work this week! Hope you all have a good week!

But I went thrift store shopping with a friend, spent $40 and got tons of cool stuff! Ate CiCi's pizza on Sat. and that was the only thing. We even ate at home yesterday for all meals! I am ready to start this week and start feeling good. Have a great week everyone!

Hi everyone! Boy, my husband is so easy to buy for. He's into dirtbikes and jetskis so he's always needing parts and gear. Makes it easy.

I did pretty good this weekend on food. Even on Saturday I was as this primate conference all day at UCSD and with all the food options they had I got Subway!

Exercise wasn't that great. I was sick a week or two ago and it got better but then came back. It's sooo hard to exercise with a cold. You can't breath, you have to grab a tissue every two minutes...

Tomorrow is my husband's birthday! However that means food and cake. Yikes. I promised myself I'm going to be good though. He wanted all finger foods (like hot wings, nachos, etc) so that makes it easy to just have a little bit of each. The cake on the other hand....

I just got some great newwws... I don't have to come into work early until December. I get my morning workouts back!! For me, I feel the best when I work out in the morning to wake me up and get me moving and then take a class in the evening to keep me out of the refrigerator.

I can't believe it is only Tuesday. I seriously feel like it should be.. Thursday. Or, Friday!! Two of my friends have birthday's tomorrow so the rest of the week is going to be a challenge. Tomorrow night we are going to an italian place for dinner. Mmm...my weakness. The plan: Drink a lot of water, Skip the bread and other appetizers, either order something healthy or eat only half of what I have (or a combination of both.)
Then comes birthday cakes. A cookie cake and an ice cream cake to be precise. Then comes the booze. I've signed myself up to be the DD for the blow out we are having Friday night, so that should save me some calories for sure. Saturday is the Clemson/Carolina game so tailgating calories are going to be a challenge too.

Stay strong everybody!!!

I could have sworn I already posted on this thread. I tell ya, I can't keep up with all the threads I post on. lol I have decided that soda is going to be completely cut out of my diet. It is too easy for me to go overboard. So today when I went to the store to get some lunch, I was on my way to get a Sprite (I love Sprite), I wasn't even thinking I was just doing it out of habit. I caught myself and grabbed water instead. I'm very proud of myself.

haha Lizzie you sound sooo much like me it's crazy! I plan my college schedule AROUND working out. I register for later classes NOT so that I can sleep but so I can work out in the morning.

Friend birthdays are sooo difficult. Because you can't decide on the restaurant and it's always this yummy fatning food, plus desserts and ALCOHOL. I usually look at the menu beforehnad and make a plan of attack for ordering. And then try to not eat too much during the day so that I have room to drink.
