Pre-Holiday Challenge Thread
 
Ok - sounds like there were a few takers for a longer-term challenge leading us right up to the holiday season. Thanksgiving Day is about 13 weeks away. Go ahead and post your goals here, whatever they may be. Then get to work!

13 weeks hmmmm...My goal is to be at least at 159 pounds, that's a 23 pound loss (as of today). Other goals: keep on my healthy 1200-1600 calorie a day lifestyle (focusing on good foods and portion control) and continue to wake up before my classes to get my cardio out of the way, at least 30 minutes 6 days a week! Oh and to keep stretching after my workouts!

Okay, let's see...as of today I am 186...today is the 26th of August...thirty days has September, April...Oh sorry, there I go thinking out loud again

*Amanda guffaws like a dork, and resumes her thought process, a little more quietly this time*

Okay, my goal will be to weigh 153 by the morning of...ummm...November 24th. Oh Lord, this is gonna be tough!

*New goal in mind, Amanda heads to the john to faithfully purge herself of the 8 sheets of chocolate grahm crackers she chowed down while trying to learn her abaccus*

Ok I'll try another challenge thing.. since, as we all know, I am bad and have not kept track of what I have been doing in the August challenge...

Hmmm. Let's say I want to be down to 190 by the big day *G* but I will settle for 195. 10 - 15 lb loss for me. Wish me luck!

LOL @ Amanda - I've been doing the whole calculation thing too!

So, my goals are:
1) 4000 mins. of exercise between Sept. 1 and Nov. 23 (as not to complicate the August Challenge)
2) Weigh-in at 155 (or lower) on Thanksgiving day (if this means I bring my scale from home with me to my mom's house in Oregon, so be it!) 155 is 100 lbs lost! That's pretty aggressive - my fitday say's I'll need to lose 2.1 lbs/week in order to meet that goal - but I know I can do it!

Yes you can do it Jenicra!!!!

I am going to shoot for 155 also. Jenicra, since our goals are close, we can cheer each other on.

I plan to achieve this by:

1-watching portions and continue preparing about 90% of my meals at home
2-exercise at least 5-6 times a week, give myself at least one day off
3-add more weights, and keeping my workouts fun and different

Hi.. I'd like to join! I'm currently 213 and I'd like to be 193 by thanksgiving! Hopefully I can make it! I'm gonna try really hard.. I have been losing about 2 pounds a week so 2 times 13 is 26. I think 20 pounds is possible. Thanks! I'll keep you up to date.

I'm setting my goal of a 24# weight loss by thanks giving. That would be 220#, currently at 244#. That's a 2#/week loss. I didn't do that on purpose, but that's the way it worked out. It's realistic!

Alright girls! Lets do this! You all are amazing, don't get down on yourself for little bumps in the road.... just make sure to pick yourself up and keep going!

PS- How do we do this? Do we check in every so often? This would be my first challenge.

HI ladies,

I think I'll try for a 15 pound loss which would bring me to around 145ish. I doubt I'll make it but we'll try.

I totally forgot about this challenge!! I am NOT going to make my goal. I actually have 149 as a Christmas goal now! I still have 6 or 7 weeks until Thanksgiving so I'll go for a 7 pound loss so that will put me at 152 instead. I WILL make that goal! (positive thinking)

Sara - you can do whatever you like - normally we just try to check in, maybe weekly or so. But you can do it however you like.

Amber--If you post that you doubt you'll make it, you are probably right. However if you post that you will make it, then you are probably right too. It's all a matter of perspective. Good luck!

Anyway my weight loss for the Thanksgiving Challenge is going to be 140lbs, which is slightly less than a pound per week. My main motivation is going home for Christmas and I really want to be at my goal weight so I will be keeping that in mind.

1. Journal in Fitday at least 4 days per week.
2. Continue exercise routine, going to silver 5-k plan from my running book once I complete bronze. Try to convince my friend to complete another running race before 11/24.
3. Weigh in only once a week and begin taking measurements to determine losses.

Good luck everyone, let's keep this thread active so we can keep tabs on each other and encourage everyone to make their goals!

my challenge isn't so much to lose any weight since i'm plateauing big time, but i will say i want to get back on my exercise routine like i used to be...i gave myself about a month to chill out and give my body a break...

13 weeks, hmmmmm.......

Well, I usually lose an average of just under a pound a week, but I am close to goal so I know I will be slowing down. So I will say that I would like to be 133 by Thanksgiving (probably 7 lbs to lose since I think I will gain at least 1 on this trip I'm on), hopefully that is not too aggressive a goal for me! My ultimate goal is to hit 130 by new year's.

I'm actually changing my goal.. from 190 to 185. 5 more lb... Seeing where I am right now, I think I can do it (still 15 lb :D )

I would like to join - I want to be 175 by Thanksgiving- thats about 20 lbs in 3.5 months. I have been away from the site because DH and I have been TTC, my last pregnancy test before I quit trying until next spring is on Friday. If it is a big fat negitive then I will be all over this weight loss ;) !! If not then I am still going to have to watch my intake and keep going to the gym, but ultimately my goal will be weight GAIN!!! :D

I managed to have a full Fri-Sat-Sun of on-plannedness - hurrah! My only problem has been getting in enough water - had about 60 oz. on Friday, maybe 40 yesterday, so I was trying to stay on the ball today - I'm probably at about 80 or so, which is more than enough I think. I used to drink upwards of 100, but I just can't seem to do that anymore - my days aren't as structured as they used to be... :) Oh well. So, I've got 3 good days under my belt - how's everyone else doing?

eek.. ok.. I've been too busy the past few days..

My Goals:

1 - Continue TBM workout plan
2 - Eat between 1400-1700 calories on exercise days, 1200-1400 cals on off days
3 - Lose 1.5-2lbs per week (I think if I do the first two, this will happen.)
4 - Drink at least 80oz of water per day.
5 - Keep eating out to one night per week.

I'm doin good.. had dinner with dad today, a bowl of home-made french onion soup (but we used whole wheat bread instead of french, and low fat beef broth.. twas yummy!) And a grilled chicken sandwhich. Not sure if I went over calories with that, don't think so.. right now I'm insanely hungry, so I might grab myself something to eat, considering that little meal was all I ate the entire day! :hun:

Well, I had an on-plan breakfast, does that count for anything??? lol
Mondays are terriable for me - I have classes alllll day :(
I never get to the gym on Monday, so I have stopped planning for it. I will make it there Tuesday.

Ok.... So I set my weight loss goal, now I think I'll add some specifics.

1. Work out at least 5 days a week (either 1 1/2 hrs at gym or 3 mile walks)
2. 1500-1700 calories on work out days, 1300-1400 on off days
3. Go to at least 3 aerobics classes (more if I like it!)

Well, I gots some walking to do for today!

Well, since I am Canadian, my Thanksgiving comes a little bit earlier than yours, it is only 6 weeks away (October 10). I currently weigh 176 and am hoping that by October 10th I will be 165.

Hi guys,
I've been mainly on track with food except for a few messups. I need to drink more water... Yet... I did go from 214 last Thursday to fluxuating between 211 and 212 now, so something went right! Keep up the good work everyone!

My goals..
EXCERCISE 5-6 times a week
WATER WATER WATER at least 100 oz a day
Im at 208, so in 13 weeks... I would like to be at 175.. I CAN DO THIS.. and I WILL DO IT...

I am goin join this challenge.... thanks giving is 85 days 11hours 48 minutes and 31secs and counting...at 1:11 central time of august 30.... so lets see thanksgiving is now 12weeks away... so i wanna loss 25 pounds thats just over 2 pounds a week...
how am i goin do this
1) 6500mins of exercise from now until thanksgiving... thats a goal i wanna reach
2) eat more fruits and veggies
3)whatch protions size and bing eating


i have decided to take the bus to the gym since the gas prices are so high.. it cheaper than driving there and driving back that will also force me to stay there at least an hour..

Man, I tried to post, but I guess it went somewhere into cyberland...far far away. Anyway, I want to join! My goal is to lose 5 pounds from Sept until Nov. Yes, that is a very small number, but lately I've been doing more inches than pounds, so I'm going to keep the pounds low.

I'd love to join in! Let's see here... Thanksgiving is exactly 12 weeks from tomorrow. I'd love to lose 1.5 pounds a week, so that's 18 pounds. That would get me to 175 pounds. Not bad! Oh, I am excited now!

I'm in even though I am a week behind. My goal is 153 lb by Thanksgiving, which is a 23.5 lb loss. I'm starting over and at an odd number here but it works out to 2 lb/week.

Count me in (better late than never, right?)! I'll go for a goal of 250--that'd be a 30-pound loss in almost 3 months (about 10 pounds per month). It's an aggressive goal considering the snail's pace I've been going at lately, but worth a shot anyway!

Weighed in this morning - and I'm down 5 lbs. to 179. Now I've got 2.02 lbs/week to lose instead of 2.1 in order to get to my goal on time. Phew!

I would like to join as well. I stayed at 180 since June and since school will be starting again, I would like to get back on schedule. I live in Canada so my Thanksgiving day is in October, about 6 weeks away. But I think I can lose 10 pounds by then I would like to reach 170. I have to really try and start a routine and stick with it especially since I will be going to Mexico in January, I would like too reach goal of 150-155 by then.

Jenicra--5 pounds is awesome! Have you been doing anything differently lately? What plan do you follow, or do you just count calories? I've got to kick up my efforts--I'm getting very sluggish with the losses again.
