Ugh, don't feel bad Jilly.. I just weighed myself and I GAINED a little bit... darn my old eating habits....

Off to feed myself (but not overeat!), do some exercises, then go out job-hunting! (that means more exercise, since I will be walking all over the place!)

dani4beauty 09-02-2005 02:46 PM

Okay by thanksgiving I want to weigh 135#! Thats is almost 2 # a week! But I know I can do it especially with the Sept challenge you all have going.

BrunetteChic_2000 09-02-2005 03:39 PM

Ok - not pregnant - so I am totally 100% in the goal is -18 lbs. Today I spent an hour at the gym. I didn't have breakfast, and then ate pizza w/DH for lunch - what was I thinking?? It was probably something like "YUM! PIZZA"
Oh well, it will be ok.

jenicra 09-02-2005 06:27 PM

Jill - I just count calories (between 1100-1800 is considered "on-plan" for me) and spend an awful lot of time at the gym.

BrunetteChic_2000 09-03-2005 10:39 AM

Ok - 70 minutes in the gym today.... so it's a good start :)

shennan 09-03-2005 03:23 PM

hmmm... ok.. I guess I should get in on this. Have been trying to lose weight all year but lack serious motivation to keep going have been at the same weight since Jan 1 just loosing a few pounds here and there only to see them come back later. Last time I weighed in was at 205. It has been a week or so so I will update soon. Lets shoot for 25 pounds = 180.

MissyK 09-04-2005 03:02 AM

My goal is to be at my goal weight and maintaining, without binge eating nor starving myself. Ohh how I long to be a normal person.

Universityprincess 09-04-2005 07:14 AM

Man! This is a weird feeling. I havent been able to work out for like a week because I hurt myself one day working out...I actually took Tylenol and I RARELY take pain killers for anything! So, in an effort not to gain weight, I reduced my caloric intake dramatically. No, I'm not starving myself by any means, I'm just eating closer to the number I should eat if I am not working out or doing anything physical. But, it feels REALLY weird not to be working out. I look back at my journal (I keep track of EVERYTHING in there) and see the further reduced calories, but NO exercise!

shennan 09-10-2005 12:28 PM

How is everyone doing? Time to check in! Aunt flow is due next week, so I am carrying a little water weight. Ate horrible this week, so I am afrade to look at the scale. GO BLUE!

KamsMoMa 09-10-2005 03:09 PM

Let's see.. My goal is to continue my healthy eating plan(watching my portions) and workout..
Hmmmm 13 weeks I think imma go for 153 :)...

amandaholly 09-10-2005 03:26 PM

Woo Hoo...Go Blue. Anyways, okay I guess I'll update too. Well, since I first joined this challange on August 26th...let's see...I've lost 5 lbs...oh man, not good, only 5 lbs in 15 days! Okay, it isn't entirely my fault. My allergies were unbarable for like a week...during which time I did not exercise at all! Yesterday they started getting better, so I went to the gym and did weight training on my lower body, and today I'm going to do some cardio (go for a walk/jog/run/walk again...trying to keep the pace with Jobe on his bike) so hopefully that will help. Also, I too am expecting TOM in a few days (okay, 5 days), so I know some of it is water weight. Okay, enough excuses...time to get out there and work it!

Amanda

lizzbabe 09-10-2005 03:55 PM

Amanda, 5lbs in 2 weeks is awesome! Congrats.

amandaholly 09-10-2005 04:29 PM

Thanks Liz! I guess I'm just depressed thinking how good I could have done if I had been able to exercise. Maybe I'm setting my sights too high...demanding perfection on a continual basis. It's just so rare that I make any mistakes in what I eat, or how much, but for some reason (maybe all the different allergy meds) I've been getting really vicious food cravings lately...and often I have given in and eaten something I have no business eating (like Chuck E. Cheese pizza last night...I ate a whole personal pepperoni only to later discover that it was 1000 calories). To make matters worse, I haven't been able to do any cardio for over a week now due to my allergies (I can't breathe when I'm sitting, forget walking...let alone jogging). Then I started weight training and now I've gained! I understand the benefits of weight training and all, but it's hardly motivational to be busting your butt pumping iron at the gym, only to step on the scale and see the numbers go up! Ahh well, what's a girl to do?

Amanda

paperclippy 09-11-2005 01:16 PM

Amanda, 5 lbs in two weeks is BETTER than perfect! Remember how healthy weight loss is .5 - 2 lbs per week? If I can lose more than 1 lb/week I think it's amazing! You're doing great, just keep it up!

FaeReverie 09-12-2005 01:00 AM

I am quite ashamed to say that since joining I have lost.. NOTHING! My scale keeps saying between 200 -205 lbs, although I have tried to stay in calories, and I do walk alot practicly every day (except today.. mom gave me a ride to work and, on my way home, my friend saw me walking and picked me up). SO this is the plan tomorrow.

Go to work tomorrow.. after work go for an interview for a job I pretty much have, since they need people and my friend who works there told them lots of good things about me (I used to work with her too, so thats in my favor). I will be working there, as a pizza cook, for $.25 more an hour, plus close Sat. nights at wendy's, since my manager, when I told her I might be putting in my 2 weeks, told me she refuses to let me quit and I have to work Sat. nights with her. SO I'm figuring if I can put in about 30 hours a week as a cook, plus do saturday night closes at Wendys (and believe it or not I can do this AND keep up with school.. I'm just special like that), which will net me more money, which leads to my visit AFTER the interview, seeing how much they would charge a poverty-stricken college student at Curves.

I know I know I could join at the YMCA for less probably, but the local Y is at least an hour walk, whereas Curves is right across the street from both the pizza place and Wendys, which makes it convenient for me to exercise before / after work. Plus I like corves. I was there for maybe a month my senior year in hs. and had a 5 lb loss without changing my diet. And I really need to do something, cuz what Im doin aint cuttin it!

Quite a long post and not all exactly on topic, I know... but there WAS a point! *G*

?? You know she can't FORCE you to work if you put in your two weeks notice in writing, right? Like, legally, if you quit your job, they can't make you stay at it. In fact, I don't think you're even legally required to give 2 weeks notice, it's just a courtesy.

FaeReverie 09-12-2005 08:10 PM

Clippy - yes, I am aware of that. She was saying that because she loves me :) And she closes Sat. nights, and I am one of the few night people who actually WORK. She likes her crew that night. besides, Im paranoid that something will happen with this job (its happened to me before) so I want to stay on the payrole for a while.. just in case.

LockItUp 09-12-2005 09:05 PM

First off congrats to amandaholly for losing 5 pounds in 15 days. Don't say that's bad, there are a lot of us here who would love a loss of 5 pounds in even 3 weeks!

Since I posted I have been doing really well with my goals. I have lost 2 pounds since the 26th, but I have been working out a ton more than I had been before that. It seems like whenever I workout more I lose slower, maybe I should up my calories. We'll see how this week goes, then I may adjust! I feel like I am on my way though, I was down to 179.5 this morning, but I don't count it until it shows up on a Sunday. Almost at my first mini goal.

Good job everyone, keep going!!!

amandaholly 09-13-2005 01:08 AM

Thanks for the encouragement gals! I know a lot of people on here would love a 5 lb loss...I guess I really didn't think before I typed (sounds like somethin I warned y'all about a few times :) ) Heehee...I just love sticking my foot in my mouth. On that subject (yet off topic) today I took Jobe to the park and he went up to a woman playing with her kids and when she said "hi" and smiled at him he said "ewww...your teeth look gross". I was so mortified I wanted to curl up into a ball and die (can you say a quaker chewy moment). I appologized profusely, but I'm sure it really hurt her feelings (in Jobe's defense, her teeth were gross yellow/green...it was shocking in contrast to her nice clothing, young age, and otherwise great looks). Ughhh...sometimes I just want to tape his mouth shut though! He didn't mean anything by it...he's just too emotionally immature to really grasp why that type of statement is a social faux-paux (despite my many attempts to explain it on earlier occasions).

Okay, as of September 12th (although now it's after midnight) I weighed in at 180...so I'm down 6 lbs since the start of the challenge. So, that's 6 lbs in 18 days, which works out to be 0.3333.... of a lb a day. If I keep up at this rate consistantly then on Thanksgiving I will weigh approximately 156 lbs...3 lbs short of goal :( Okay, I need to step up my lazy butt!

Amanda

skinnyjeans 09-13-2005 03:28 PM

Well I am glad to say that I am right on track with a 4 lb weight loss so far. I have been slacking on the excercise lately and need to step that up otherwise staying on track is not going to happen. Keep up the good work everyone.

seemzy 09-17-2005 02:31 PM

Hi is this challange still going on? I would love to join!

jenicra 09-17-2005 03:09 PM

Hey seemzy - we're still going strong here. There's a little less than 10 weeks left until Thanksgiving Day if you'd like to join us and set a goal for yourself!

I'm doing really well right now. I'm excited to weigh in again on Tuesday morning - I'm hoping for a pretty big loss - at least two pounds I'm thinking!

FaeReverie 09-18-2005 03:02 AM

Stop saying how many weeks until Thankgiving. I haven't lost a thing yet, and it's depressing me *sighs and thinks thin*

jenicra 09-18-2005 03:04 AM

Awww - sorry Fae! Seriously though, 10 weeks is a long ways off - so don't sweat it!

FaeReverie 09-18-2005 03:10 AM

lol thanks.. and I know its a long time away, but when I think about how much time has passed.. :(

amandaholly 09-18-2005 02:18 PM

Hi all! Okay, I have been bad...not food wise, just haven't really exercised in a few weeks (except once at the gym). The good news is that I'm still losing. Okay, so I started this challenge on August 26th at 186 lbs, and as of September 18th I weigh 178 lbs. So, that's an 8 lb loss in 24 days...which averages out to be .333... of a lb a day. At this rate I will weigh 156 on Thanksgiving day! Arghhh, did I set my goal weight too low? Anyone? My initial goal was to lose 33 lbs in 90 days...was that too lofty a goal?

Amanda

jenicra 09-18-2005 04:04 PM

Amanda - honestly, yeah - 33 lbs. in 90 days is pretty darn high. Maybe if you were just starting and you could expect a big drop 5-10 lbs. in the first week, it might be more reasonable. BUT I also set a lofty goal (30 pounds in 90 days) - so who am I to give advice? :) However, I also knew I'd have a pretty big drop week 1 - and I did - 6 lbs. - so that really gave me a head start. Maybe you should set a more realistic goal to keep your mind sane and still work towards the overall goal? Like, say that you want to lose 2 lbs./week from here on out - putting you at 160, and since you're so close to a new decade - why don't you push one more pound out (hehe - that's what I always do when setting goals). So say you want to be between 153-159 by your goal date - that way you have some flex room and you're not so worked up about it.
BTW - you're like right there with me - my weigh-in is on Tuesday and I'm expecting to see somewhere between 176-178 and my goal is to be 155 on T-Day - let's do it! :D

miss michelle 09-23-2005 02:16 PM

i know i am a tad late to join the challenge, but i figured i might as well post to keep myself accountable :) since thanksgiving is about 10 weeks away, i would like to be down 15 pounds (i think that is realistic for me) to 137!!! omg i just realized that is below my goal weight. WOW i didn't realize it was that close! if i could be at my goal weight by Thanksgiving I would be so excited! it will be the first time i see some relatives for a while, so that would be a great surprise! wait...that WILL be a great surprise!

Megan1982 09-28-2005 01:50 PM

Hi all, I've decided I need to commit to a goal and Thanksgiving is as good a milestone as any. As you can see from my signature, I've had a big backslide over the past few months and re-gained 10 lbs. My goal is to lose it by Thanksgiving. 10 lbs in 8 weeks is a little faster than I usually lose weight, but hey, I want to at least try. Plus I'm hoping since the last 5 lbs is vacation gain it's not "real" weight and will come off pretty fast - how my body usually works when I put on weight.

I'm also trying to re-up my running to to 20 miles/week by the holidays. About 3 months ago I was up to 25-30 miles/week...and then I slid down to about 20 miles a week...to 10... and currently I've logged about 10 miles in the last 3 weeks. I'm hoping that stating this "publicly" will make me accountable (although my waistbands are currently holding me pretty d!@# accountable all on their own).

Good luck everyone!

amandaholly 09-28-2005 04:54 PM

Hi all! Okay, as of today I have officially been on this challange for 34 days...and have lost 10 lbs! Now I just need to start exercising!

Amanda

FaeReverie 09-28-2005 08:47 PM

I have finally gone down! *happy dance* My plateau is broken!

Maybe I will make this goal after all.

And these jeans are too big.. which is fantastic, except I cant afford new jeans, and I have to keep pulling these ones up!

byebigbutt 09-30-2005 12:10 PM

Okay, with Thanksgiving less than 8 weeks away I'm gonna join in. My goal for the October challenge is to break the 200 mark, so by Thanksgiving
...checking calendar...I'll try to break the 190 :cb: I can do it! I will do it! I have to do it! So I'll be on my way to update my sig ticker and lose, ummm, 21 lbs. :crossed:

My cheer squad:
:cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

Good luck to everyone. :D

jillybean720 09-30-2005 12:14 PM

byebigbutt--The tickerfactory ones are allowed...or at least I would assume so since some of the moderators here have them in their signatures ;) The outside stuff that's not allowed would typically be anything that promotes or is trying to sell a product, but since tickerfactory's tickers are free, go for it!

byebigbutt 09-30-2005 05:18 PM

Thanks Jill. As you can see I went ahead. I did find a post from someone asking if it was acceptable and they were told it was fine.

browniegurl 10-03-2005 08:53 AM

I know I'm kind of late to this, but I would like to join in. I'm 255 at my current weight, so my goal for thanksgiving is 15 pounds eg 240. Definitely achievable.

miss michelle 10-03-2005 12:49 PM

An update...I weighed in at 151.5 this morning, so 13.5 more pounds to lose before Thanksgiving...it's going to be tight, but I know I can make it!!

byebigbutt 10-04-2005 10:23 PM

1 lb as of friday so far. Not weighing in until Friday. I've been working my butt off the last few days. Very sore. :tired:

I did great until today with calories. I had 2 choc. chip cookies after dinner put me over my caloric intake for the day. Stupid cookies. That's right I'm blamin' the cookies, those cookies made me do it! :D
If they taunt me tomorrow we're gonna have a problem. :sumo:

Well, I'll check back in after I weigh in Friday.
Hope everyone's doing good.

FaeReverie 10-05-2005 12:51 AM

Fae is under 200 now. Fae is happy.

Fae will NEVER get to 200 ever again!

jillybean720 10-05-2005 06:50 AM

Wow, everyone (but me) is doing so great! Congrats Fae--I can't WAIT to get to the point you're at now! And good for you on being so determined to never see 200 again!

amandaholly 10-05-2005 10:24 AM

Amanda's weight is busy fluctuating between 175.8 and 166.4...I think I'm in a lttle plateau! :(
