Lynnie-I am so sorry. That has got to be terrible to go through. Thats a huge string of emotions to go through in a couple of days. My boyfriend's dad had a brain annurism but he was lucky because they caught it fast. He has a metal plate in his skull and lost his sense of smell because of it. Hopefully everything will turn out OK for your BIL. Sending you hugs.

Tonic-sorry about the whole graduation thing. Balancing work and school is hard and I am one of those people that doesn't do very well when I try doing both full-time. I alternate semesters full-time work/part-time school or the other way around and take long breaks when I get overwhelmed. I guess that would explain why I'm a sixth year sophomore...

Jen-Hope your muscles loosen up a little. It sucks to be sore, but in a way it feels pretty good. i have a love/hate relationship with waterskiing and wakeboarding because of that. The first few times every year I feel muscles that I never knew I had for several days afterwards. But I like being reminded that those little muscles get a workout now and then.

I finally weighed myself. 154 pounds. Its better than I thought it would be. I want everyone here to by my witness and hold me accountable...I will be under 150 pounds by the end of April. Thats not too much to ask, is it? I better go and exercise now while I'm feeling pumped up and optimistic.

Lynnie: I'm so sorry to hear about your BIL. I hope they find out whats wrong soon!

Meredith: Its good to know I am not alone in postponing graduation. I still might be able to work full time again in the fall and just finish my thesis. Thats what I am hoping for. Its still a bit depressing. Its very difficult for me to switch between things because my job and research are both very technical and interesting.. so when I get involved in one its hard for me to drop it and move to the other quickly.

So tonight will be insane for me and then I am going to be gone for easter weekend. Its a busy wedding planning trip.. so it will be insane. When I get back, I'm toying with the idea of going on the south beach diet. Atkins worked great for me, but was way too restricitve and the SBD looks very good. My fiance is complaining he is fat, so we will go on a diet together. He isn't fat at all, but I think he likes to say that to imitate me when I get in those moods I wonder how well SBD will work if I have like 12 pounds to lose? I guess we will find out

Good morning everyone! The weather was supposed to be icky today, but its calm and beautiful. I was supposed to start painting today, but that might have to wait until tomorrow. This is fishing weather.

I went on a bikeride with my boyfriend last night. I hadn't been on a bike in probalby 5 years. It was great. My parents have 7 bikes (my dad is a bit of a collecter) so we might have to buy a couple of his.

BF gets off at noon today, which I'm excited about. I swear, the tiniest little things make me happy. Have a great Friday! And Happy Easter if I don't post before Sunday!

2 things -

First, tonic, I looked at your wedding page - you guys are adorable!

Second, wow, this doesn't even belong in the same post as well wishes for the soon to be newlyweds, but here goes anyhow.

What do you guys do when the "time of the month" cravings come on? I'm on my third week of my program and it hit HARD today. I wanted sugar, I wanted salt, I wanted sugary salty stuff, I wanted more sugar, and most of all I wanted some CHOCOLATE.

I caved and had some Pepsi, a small bag of potato chips, and a bag of M&Ms - all within a half an hour of each other. I know these cravings are going to last a couple of days. Do you all think its ok for me to cave during this nasty week? Should I pick up the slack with more exercise? I'm doing so well that I don't want to ruin everything now!

Emily: your body burns about 100-200 more calories during that wonderful time of the month - I think that if you REALLY REALLY want something (using the wait 15 min., have a glass of water then eat it if you still want it rule) then you should have it - maybe a small portion of it. Buy a mini-bag of M&M's or throw out the other half of it. Or try sugar-free chocolate (you can't eat much of that otherwise you'll have other down-there problems) or sugar-free fudgsicle or baked potato chips or caramel rice cakes. Be prepared, because we all know that it comes every month without fail, so that it doesn't get the best of you. And upping the exercise during this time is a GREAT idea because we have a higher metabolism during this week or so.

jenicra - I had no idea that our metabolism was faster during this week! Wow - there IS something good about being a woman, hahaha! I liked all your ideas - I hadn't thought to drink some water before tearing into that chocolate. And somehow, I'm getting really good at throwing stuff away before finishing it - I guess its all this great motivation!

Good for you Emily! I remember the first time I threw some too-tempting food away, I had to throw some garbage on top of it too! That is just something that is really hard for me to do!

Emily - Thanks! Glad you like our wedding web page. And thanks for the compliments.. you are too nice As for the cravings, thats tough.. sometimes I cave as well because its just so hard during that time of the month to exercise and not eat crap. I think that maybe having some safer foods (low fat chocolate something or whatever you are craving) might help and not be soo bad. Another option is to increase your magnesium intake or other vitamins to help with the cravings.
