I'm doing calorie counting, with clean eating this time rather than squeezing chocolate into my calorie count :P, and exercise 3-4 times a week. :)

I hope this works! I'm so sick of feeling unhappy about my weight.

I lost 20 lbs once tracking on livestrong.com . Calorie counting works well, I just think this time around that I need to learn how to eat better without counting calories or pp points.

Do you weight lift?

I have had a migraine two days in a row. Went to bed with it last night, woke up with it, went back to bed with it, woke up again. I've taken my migraine/nausea medicine once yesterday, and once today. If it doesn't go away, I may try to go to the doctor. Ugh. It could just be all this rain.

It has been a fantastic year for me. I may have not made it back to goal, but I'm looking at my lifestyle in a different way.

Goals for this year:
-Make my weight goal, and maybe a few lbs more.
-Work on baby steps from the Total Money Makeover. Hope to put a huge dent in BS2.
-Start preparing to add to our family :)

Happy New Years EVE!

Claygirl1518 12-31-2014 07:21 PM

Happy new year!

I met my new years goal weight of 189 (yay!) so, that's a good start for 2015! My husband and I are no longer preventing pregnancy and hoping to conceive sometime in 2015. We will both continue our healthy lifestyle. I'm going to continue trying to actively lose weight unless I find out I'm pregnant, obviously then things would change a bit!

I hope next year is a great year for all of us!

YaY :carrot: Losing weight for a healthy pregnancy as well! We are aiming to start trying in December, which is a big step up from where my DH originally thought we'd start.

Claygirl1518 01-01-2015 05:24 PM

We have been working hard to get healthy too! I would still like to lose more weight, but we just decided we don't want to wait anymore. We aren't actively "trying" right now, but we aren't preventing it either. We are just going to let life happen. We've talked about trying for kids for a year and a half now, and we are both ready!

Did your DH move up your timeline? My husband actually wanted to start more than me this past month. I was just having a mini freak out that I wasn't healthy enough yet, and needed to wait. But I realized that I was just being fearful and worrying about every little thing (which I'm sure will happen again).

He wanted to wait two years but, after sitting down and really talking about it here recently, he thought end of this coming year would be a good time to start. I am concerned about not being as healthy as I should be. My cholesterol needs improvement, thank goodness not to the point of needing medicine. It was another kick in the rear for me in addition to being overweight.

You will know when the time is right. I believe everything happens when it is supposed to, ready or not. :dizzy:

Mops109 01-04-2015 08:46 AM

Hello everyone,

I just came across your group and was wondering if there is still the chance to be part of it?
I am in the same boat as you... trying to lose around 20lbs.

A quick background on me:
I have been struggling with my weight since ever! But in college I finally figured out that exercise is the way to go and generally changing my eating habits worked wonders. I lost around 50lbs (from 180lbs to 130lbs) and I maintained my weight for years.
I moved to the U.S. 2.5 years ago, because my husband is from New Jersey and the weight started to pile on. I love American food and let me tell you: I finish my plate no matter the size of the dish. So over the past 2 years I gained around 20lbs and I weighed myself this morning to see an alarming 152lbs. I need to put a stop to this.
I know how to eat, how to exercise to reach my goal, but I couldn't get motivated so far.... it is a vicious cycle...

You are obviously on the right track. Would love to join and share the good, the bad and the ugly ;)

If you still have room I'd love to join!

Mops 109

DrivenByAmbition 01-04-2015 10:07 AM

Welcome mops, anyone can join at anytime! Where are you originally from? What is your plan for losing the 20lbs? I have 18 lbs or so to go. :)

Claygirl1518 01-04-2015 12:26 PM

Welcome Mops!

I weighed in at 188.8 today. Stalled a little bit due to ovulation (I always gain a bit... ugh) but I'm expecting a whoosh in a couple days which is always nice! 23.8 lbs to go!

DrivenByAmbition 01-04-2015 12:54 PM

Still holding strong at 181. Hopefully tomorrow will be the day I see 180 (or less). I've been losing a lb consistently every 5-7 days. Slow and steady!

wendybirdx 01-04-2015 10:38 PM

22 left for me! Trying to not have a completely sedentary lifestyle (going to the gym 3 days a week for now, hoping to step it up soon) and eating healthier. My dad knows a lot about nutrition and he's lost a lot of weight himself, so I go to him for help a lot, but it's mostly just instinct, especially since I had pretty unhealthy habits before. So I'm starting off small, with the basics everyone knows - less sodas and McDonalds, more fruits and veggies and whole wheat and etc.

Good luck to everyone! We can do this! ^^

DrivenByAmbition 01-05-2015 06:21 PM

Welcome to the thread. Keep us updated.

Claygirl1518 01-05-2015 08:15 PM

Good day today! I did 45 minutes of p90x yoga (kicked my butt too, I'm already sore) and 30 minutes on the elliptical today. I ate 1600 calories total today (I don't usually eat that much but I was hungry after working out so much today!). The scale is still at about 189, but ovulation isn't over yet and I've stepped up my game strength wise, I'm sore, my total body water % is up, and my muscle % is up too, so my muscles are repairing and holding onto water right now, which is fine. I wore size 14s today (a little snug but wearable) my 16s are too big now. It's definitely nice to start the year off in pants that didn't fit me in 2013. I feel like I've accomplished a lot in the last year, and I really hope I can reach my goal in 2015 and stay there.

Mops109 01-06-2015 10:07 AM

Hello DrivenByAmbition and ClayGirl! Thank you for the welcome.

I am originally from a small town close to Hamburg, Germany. It is in the northern part of the country.
My way to lose weight is pretty simply but for some reason it is harder this time around. I am not eating carbs for dinner and I am simply trying to cook healthier for every meal. Over the past months I got used to not eating breakfast, eating a salad for lunch and then eating a ton of chocolate for dinner - because I thought I deserve that after eating basically nothing all day. Very, very unhealthy and obviously had a huge, negative effect on my metabolism.
I am also going back to the gym. I try to go 4 times per week for a 45min workout. There is an app I use which is really great called the '7 minute challenge'.

What are you guys doing to lose the last 20lbs?

DrivenByAmbition 01-06-2015 09:37 PM

I have a gluten intolerance, so I stay away from the gluten free junk that's advertised. While some items may be correctly labeled gluten free (the FDA has a weird definition) they are full of empty calories. I am sticking to basics. Meats and veggies.

I need to exercise more. When I got to goal before I had done couch to 5k. The 170s just keep taunting me. I was 181 for the last week and I'm up to 183, thanks to good aunt flo(w). She is very cruel sometimes.

Ariannag 01-07-2015 09:57 AM

Hey guys. I'm not sure where to go with this! I need an accountability partner and don't know where to look! Can someone guide me in the right direction. Right now I'm sitting at 174 with a goal weight of 150.. or better if my health isn't compromised. I'm 5'5...any ladies around the same?

Mops109 01-07-2015 10:44 AM

My friend eats gluten free and finds great products at Trader Joe's. Do you have that supermarket near you?
They have quinoa pasta which is delicious.

I was able to roll out of bed today again and hit the gym. Running was hard though. I think it is because I am fighting a cold. Every time I fly back from a vacation I get a cold on the plane. Weird.

Hey Ariannag - I think you found the right group :) I just joined them as well. I am 5'5 and weigh 152lbs. I am trying to go back to 130lbs. I used to weigh around 180lbs so I know your situation. How are you trying to lose weight?

Welcome to the thread. We are all here to support. I figured out the time constraints were really hurting my motivation so I decided to just stick with a plan and be glad when I get to goal, regardless of how long it takes.

I'm 5'8 1/2"

I do not. Hope you get over your cold soon.

Mops109 01-09-2015 10:29 AM

Hello everyone,

The cold got the best of me yesterday and I did not leave my house, which was not the worst idea since it was 9 degrees in NYC.
Getting back into the groove again. Already went to the gym this morning and had a good workout.
Went on the scale too but nothing much has changed. From 152lbs to 151.6lbs. I guess it will just take me some time.

Are you guys ready for the weekend? I am kind of dreading it because it is normally the time where I splurge in terms of food/drinks. Hopefully I can stick to my diet.

Happy Friday,
Mops!

thewalrus0 01-09-2015 01:41 PM

Hey all! I have about 30lbs left to lose as well. I have been stalled with the holidays but I am hoping to lose about 10lbs this semester, and 10lbs over the summer.

Today I am trying to get back on track with some HIIT and tomorrow I will lift weights. Next week I am changing jobs and school starts again so it will be a little different schedule but it looks like I will be able to maintain a really active lifestyle. My goal is just to strength train every third day, HIIT once a week, run once a week and hula hoop once or twice a week. It is the best balance I have found for myself so far. In the summer I naturally get out more and also this job change means I will be moving away from a desk and into an active walking/standing/moving position which I think is going to kick me back into weight loss. :)

I'm generally pretty excited for it. Although it requires I get up at 5am!!

Any movement downward is good! I'm so glad it's Friday night. Going to force hubby to go to gym with me this weekend. Don't really have anything planned.

What are you doing this weekend?

Congrats on the job change, you seem very pleased with it. Any movement is wonderful. I'm ready for my weightloss to start back myself. Geeze aunt flow has been mean this month.

DrivenByAmbition 01-10-2015 09:54 AM

Was up to 183 since TOM, got my woosh but not back to my weight before TOM, 181.6 today, but I will take it. Hoping for 170s soon. This was just a minor set back.

Claygirl1518 01-10-2015 11:33 AM

Ive been pretty much stalled since I started strength training... kind of frustrating! I also was bad last night and had pizza... I ended up around maintenance calories for the day. I did do cardio for 30 minutes so that's good. Ill work out some more today. I just really want to see some movement soon!

DrivenByAmbition 01-10-2015 11:40 AM

Mmmm pizza, oh how I miss gluten-filled pizza. I do eat Udi's gluten free pepperoni, it just isn't the same. I told my hubby I'm going to drag him to the gym today. I need to start going, I just hate going alone. :(

DrivenByAmbition 01-13-2015 06:24 AM

Broke into the 170s today. :) barely, 179.9

Yay! That's so exciting congrats!

I'm on the 187s right now. I'm actually waiting to test for pregnancy because I've had a lot of symptoms the past 4-5 days. Ive been feeling very nauseated throughout the day, especially after eating or drinking water. Also, heartburn, lower back pain, and I've been tired. Its mostly the nausea that's throwing me. I can test in a few days, so we will see if I am or not!

:) Let us know. How exciting!

A week ago, my scales said 147.4. Then somehow it shot up to 150 and then on to 152.4. I have no idea what is going on. I am assuming real weight is around 150 so 20-25 pounds would do it for me.

Welcome to our thread. What are you doing to lose weight?

DrivenByAmbition 01-19-2015 09:44 AM

Our post has been relatively quiet. Just want to check in on everyone's progress. 16 lbs until my initial goal. They will come off when they come off. I'm feeling great! I'm pretty sure in about two more lbs I can put my size 16s away. I can't wait for the day I'm back in my 12s.

Claygirl1518 01-19-2015 11:15 AM

DrivenByAmbition I'm wearing my 16s today because I'm all bloated and crampy... My 14s fit, but today I need a little give! I've got SO many pants. It's ridiculous. I've got a ton of 12s that I've never worn. I hope that I can wear those again one day! Then I have size 10s that I haven't worn since late high school/early college. The 12s would be so great to be in though, that's a good size for me. I hope you get back into your 12s soon!

Things are pretty good here, I'm just waiting for TOM to be over so I can feel comfortable in my 14s again. I'm just so bloated today. I always enjoy the whoosh after TOM though, hopefully I'll have a good one this month!

Atarimae 01-22-2015 06:20 PM

Wow this thread's perfect! I'm 20-something with 20-something lbs to go! :) Hope everyone's doing well so far!

DrivenByAmbition 01-22-2015 09:50 PM

Welcome Atarimae. You are sooooooo close to goal. What are you doing to help you lose?
