Thumbs up Paste.

So this morning I decide on Oatmeal and a banana (too make the oatmeal tolerable). I am not a big fan of oatmeal but my goal is to have my Cholesterol down before my next doctors visit. So I thought it would be fun to ask, what is the one food that you could live without but you tolerate it for health sake?

if you add sweetener and cinnamon to oatmeal, it's actually really yummy! i like it a lot

hum... i guess for me, it would be tomatoes and peppers (green or red) they are too vegetables that i 'can' eat, but you'll never catch me eating them unless they're already in something i'm eating, haha...

also i eat a little bit of spinach every morning with breakfast. i don't like it very much, but i heard that it's helpful to weightloss to add some greens to your breakfast, and spinach is amazingly good for you.

Greek yogurt. I know, it's stereotypical woman food, and as a vegetarian the protein in it is great, but unless it's mixed with just about equal part honey it's really not my cup of tea. I keep buying it though, and forcing myself to eat it before it goes bad.

The healthy food I don't tolerate is cottage cheese. Blech. As a kid I'd see my parents eating it at the table, one with sugar, one with salt and tomato, and all those flavors are now inextricably linked in my mind.

Ironically, my biggest weakness is pretty much any other dairy product ever.

As for the oatmeal, I love it with a bit of brown sugar or dried cranberries so it's a little less gruelish. Also, have you tried experimenting with the amount of water?

Spinach is definitely one. I only eat it raw or when it's cooked into a meal (never as a side dish), and I don't particularly enjoy it, but I do know it's good for me and I don't get a lot of other greens in my diet. In fact, I just bought a big container of baby spinach leaves that I need to figure out how to use up!

have you tried dried fruit or pb in your oatmeal? ups the calories/sugar, but makes it taste way better! I also make mine with vanilla soymilk instead of water-I have quite the sweet tooth haha!

I didn't realize this until recently, but my DH pointed out that I add onions/bell peppers to almost everything I cook. I like onions alright, but peppers definitely AREN'T something I love! The crunch/taste just isn't really my thing. I just try to bulk up my food with veggies so it fills me up more, and apparently those are my go tos!

I love everything I eat! My only thing might be the protien meal replacement shakes I have just added to my diet. I am not substituting but adding because I need more calories. It's annoyingly sweet like Splenda or stevia. I don't drink or really eat too many sweets so it tough to get it down.

Synchrojo- try Dannon's light n fit version of Greek yogurt if you can. It is sweeter and less sour that other kinds. It has fruit on the bottom that once mixed in makes it taste just like regular yogurt but a little thicker. Plus it's only 80 cal. I love it for breakfast.

Thanks, gatorgirl! It's actually the texture that weirds me out rather than the taste- it's weird to me that something so creamy is so chewy. This is probably also why I dislike cottage cheese.

Greek yogurt has really helped me slow down when I'm eating. I make smoothies with it and I don't suck them down in one go like I would with really sweet yogurt. For some reason it makes me feel REALLY full.
