Second day in a row that I'm completing my workouts only because of this thread. Seriously would not have worked out, neither today nor yesterday, if it weren't for the fact that I wanted to post here.

(And since I'm using icons with my workouts, I would like them to be symetrical and follow a particular pattern... Crazy?!?! Absolutely. I admit it. But hey, whatever works, right?)

Dreamer2012 11-03-2012 04:52 AM

1yr2mkovr, I love the icons you use. And you're right, whatever does work! :P I've always seen this as like a reward. I do some exercise and get to come back and edit my post to say I have done something.

It's the weekend now and my plan is to do an hour on the weekend! Let's hope I can stick to it. :)

Insanity review

It's kicking my butt!!

I'm not an athlete, out of shape, lots of joint injuries, poor cardio (yikes)

It's hard, and half of the exercises I can barely do which shows me JUST HOW BADLY I am out of shape. They are easy in theory, it trains you like you're an athlete, sometimes I literally collapse. I used to be very active when I was younger, let that slide with college and now trying to get back in shape after a bad car accident (clearance to exercise since Feb). I like this dvd bc it pushes me to my breaking point...and sometimes reminds me of gym class ;) It's very easy to see how unfit I am, how I'm progressing and what I've accomplished. They have a fit test (mine was pathetic lol) and every 2 weeks I'll redo the same test to see if I've improved. I've done the first three days and I am sore, but I feel stronger. They are the type of exercises that once I complete the 60 days, I can put the disk back in and just go harder, faster, deeper (or try!) with the same exercise and get results (as long as I kick the cookie habit). It's something I can see my self sticking too. It's hard, but for 45 mins I'd prob have to spend a lot more time in a gym or w/a different dvd for the same results. Since it has only been three days I don't have much to comment, but I'll try to keep you posted!!

I took pics and once I finish it I'll post them all.

They titled Insanity correctly lol.

thanks!

That sounds really interesting... Might be something I'd like to try.

Please keep us updated (with both good news or bad with regard to the program)! I don't want to spend my money on yet another program that I won't do ;)

So far, I have 3 programs that I had consistantly used and about 10 that I don't :o

:)

I think it's fun (you know when I'm not sweating, panting, falling over or saying...you want me to do whaaaaaat?) I can barely do girl pushups, guy pushups while moving....It might take a few weeks to do one! I wish I had a hot tub.

It's nice to also see the people on the video take breaks, collapse, etc....they ARE doing it 100x harder than I am, but hey they're already in good shape!

I'll be editing my original post on the first page, so I don't add 1000 pages of posts =) I'm looking forward to my off day and I still wish I had a hot tub.

Dreamer2012 11-13-2012 12:37 PM

How are we all getting along? :)

1yr2mkovr 11-14-2012 11:38 AM

Well... I'm not doing the 30 Day Shred anymore... I've decided this yesterday. Why? (You may be wondering...) Well, it's not that it's too hard, or anything, it's just that the host really pisses me off!!!!

I'm sorry if I'm being so blunt or rude or anything else tht is mean and unfriendly but the DVD just bothers me for some reason and everytime I think about doing it, my mood just plummets. And I've been fighting this feeling for the past week or two, and yet there it is. I've done DVD's that were much more difficult than the 30DS, it's definitely not the actual exercise, but it's something other...

Since it stops me from wanting to work out all together, I decided that it's not in my best interest to keep pushing this thing on myself that I hate sooooo much. Instead I will continue my treadmill programs (the C25K and the 45 min walk/runs), and will definitely add a strength component in a week or two, BUT IT WILL NOT BE JILLIAN MICHAELS.

(Disclaimer: I'm sure J.M. is a great person, obviously she is an accomplished trainer, and if you are planning to do the 30DS definitely give it a try -- It's just that some people just don't mesh... She's not for me. :) )

1yr2mkovr 11-14-2012 11:39 AM

How is everyone else doing? ;)

cara0017 11-14-2012 12:54 PM

1yr2mkovr : I actually laughed out loud. I happen to love the 30 Day Shred (and Body Revolution), and it's mostly BECAUSE of Jillian Michaels. Funny how one person can find her annoying (you) and another can find her motivational (me). I need a trainer that's "in your face" to keep me going, and Jillian provides that for me. I lost over 50 pounds a few years ago thanks to her, so I ADORE JILLIAN MICHAELS. hehehe.

I do understand why she's not for everybody, though. Believe me, I get it. Everybody needs to find a trainer that works well for them. Have you looked at other options? Keep us posted, I'm sure we'd all like to know what you choose :-)

Dreamer2012 11-16-2012 05:21 AM

1yr2mkovr You should be very proud of yourself for trying something different. At least you gave it a chance. It didn't work out but you tried it! It simply wasn't for you. :)

I rearranged my exercise plan about 4 or 5 times since I started back in June and it's all because of changes in schedule or losing the motivation. We all have to make sure we are doing what we are capable of doing so we can stick with it!

We are half way through November now and my new plan is really working for me. College is so stressful that I can't afford a full hour or two (which is what I would have been doing during the summer) to workout. 30 minutes is better than nothing in my eyes. I'll keep it up for now and maybe during Christmas see if I can push it to an hour. I do have exams starting January 3rd though so we will see how I manage.

EDIT: One issue I am having is my hour each week on Saturday and Sunday. This weekend I'm determined to do an hour each both days!

Dreamer2012 11-20-2012 01:27 PM

I haven't been able to exercise the past two days due to a stomach bug. It is so frustrating. :(

Dreamer2012 12-01-2012 05:02 AM

First month down, how did we all do??

Pink Hurricane 12-13-2012 10:07 AM

I didn't do so great near the end of November and early this month because of my husband and I having family and friends come into town for our ceremony and reception. I let exercise be put on the back burner and I put on a bit of weight during those couple of weeks. Either way, I got back on track Monday, so I am starting out a little slower with walking/jogging/running and then I plan on getting back into 30DS in a few weeks and my husband and I are going to start Insanity once he gets the okay to workout again. I can't wait for all of that, and I am more motivated than ever to keep going!
