October Chat Thread

I was about to comment in the September and then I noticed today is October 1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Which means a new begining for me, because this lat week sucked a**! I am 213.....grrrrrrr! I must do better. I joined the 30lb by New Years Challenge and it seems, seems, seems to be attainable. I had to by a new heart rate monitor because mines had stop taking my heart rate, I sure hope this one is better. I like the watch heart rate monitors but I am really thinking about just getting a Fitbit or Bodybugg. I also downloaded a new app on my phone called NOOM coach, havent used it much but I will let you all know what I think in a few days! I have a few challenges for October I plan to achieve

1. No red meat
2. Limited starch intake
3. No sodas, not that I drink them anyway but Im excluding diet ones too!
3. Do Turbo Fire twice in oneday, once a week. Im going to try this on Saturdays.

Im going to in September and read those and come back and catch up!

jmko 10-01-2012 01:54 PM

It seems like a lot has happened since I went on vacation! I'm definitely going to say that so much happened that personals would take me forever! But as always, I did read everything!

Vegas! I am so glad to be home. It was high 90's to low 100's while we were there. It was like going from one hot place to another, just vegas has no humidity. We spent a lot of time downtown with the bf's parents, but stayed at Hilton Grand Vacations for 3 nights, and Vdara the last two nights. We did a whole bunch of shopping (I can barely keep up with my bf's mom!), saw two shows, and of course, lost a bunch of money gambling. Overall, we did a lot of walking so it wasn't too bad and we didn't do a bunch of eating. The sad thing is that we did so much eating before the trip prepping for this diet (that starts today!) that I gained before the trip, haha! Oh well, hopefully it'll come off quickly.

Happy October!

SoMuchFattitude 10-01-2012 02:33 PM

Happy October everyone!

I had a great, busy weekend! Friday we went to 6Flags and for the first time in 7 years I fit. And not only did I fit, but I fit comfortably. Talk about a NSV. I woke up Saturday morning and looked at my husband with tears in my eyes and just said, "I felt so normal." It was incredible. No one paid me any extra attention and I LOVED it!

Saturday we left for our triathlon of the season yesterday! I finished 7 minutes ahead of my personal best! WOOHOO!!! I'm going to use the off season as a time to work on my run and put some muscle on. I'm very excited!

I see my shrink on Thursday to discuss my crazy food issues.

It's pouring down rain here and it's suppose to all day, but I'm still going to go for a run to start working on my time...I hope.

Congrats!! Lots to be proud of!!

I love running in the rain- luckily, as I don't think it's stopped raining for the past month- we seem to have skipped autumn and moved straight into winter!!

pinksparkles 10-01-2012 04:18 PM

Happy October everyone! :) It's my birthday month, woohoo!

Had a bit of a setback this weekend- planned to indulge a bit for a friends' birthday and managed to stay in maintenance calories.. but my appetite the next day was HORRENDOUS. Slowly getting back to normal, though. Went for a great run today in the chilly October air :)

Happy Monday!

nightprowler 10-02-2012 01:19 AM

It's also my birthday month. Very excited. Its my champagne birthday this year (turn 22 on the 22nd) hahah. And it's halloween month so I'm ecstatic to start decorating.

I have a 1lb gain. I was expecting it I've only been doing my diet half-way, and kind of letting it slip, but it's a new week and I'm ready to tackle it head on. I visited my parents today for the first time in awhile and they kept complimenting on how much weight I've lost (only 20lb) but it feels good to have the be so proud of me and telling me how good i look.

hope everyone has a wonderful week!

mimsyborogoves 10-02-2012 01:38 AM

Herro everyone! I've not done a chat thread before so I'm joining this one. The month started off for me with a semi-busy day at work. I'm already ready for the freaking weekend, but I'm kinda sad because I realized a concert I wanted to go to falls on the same day I'm going out of town to see a friend. BOO! Oh well.

Weight loss... I hope to get some more workouts in this week. I've decided I want to be at goal by the end of January/beginning of February, since that would be a full year since I really started trying to lose weight. I think I can do it! I weighed in at 180 this morning, so hopefully I will be seeing the 170s soon and getting my butt into some 12s! Let's do this!

Atarimae 10-02-2012 05:07 AM

Happy October everyone! :) I'm so excited to see what this month has in store for me, as well as all you laaadies! I'm super bummed that the class that starts this week is affecting a few dates, including Halloween! :( Ugh, yay evening classes. Even worse, it might affect my eating habits a tad!

I have a bit of catch up to do, but I see new faces, so welcome to the chat! Everyone is so friendly here - you all will love it.

Fatness 10-02-2012 05:25 AM

GM, ladies! Also Happy early birthday ! Must get it out now because I don't be online everyday! My week have only been busy when it comes to cooking for my Habebe (husband)! Other then that; I been going to the gym everyday like I normally do. However, I have pumped up my workouts to 2 hours and 30mins. I will be doing this 7 days away! Have a Great day Ladies!:carrot:

audri8301 10-02-2012 06:40 AM

Good morning everyone! I'm not usually very good at keeping up with the chat threads, but I am going to try this month if that's okay. I need to do something to make myself accountable for checking in here daily since I keep starting and falling off the wagon.

Tonight is my four-year anniversary with the boyfriend and we are headed out to a restaurant that doesn't post nutrition info so I have to guess. My plan is to stick to the red pepper and crab meat soup, which sounds divine. Now it's in writing so I have to stick to it, right?

Have a wonderful Tuesday!

SoMuchFattitude 10-02-2012 07:27 AM

Goodness! So many new faces. :) Welcome All!

lisa34t What is the NOOM app? Oh man - I am addicted to coke zero. I try SO hard to stop, but I typically relapse. I do drink more sparkling water now, but sometimes, I just need that fix.

jmko - I've never been to Vegas but my dh wants to go, so I'm sure we will soon. What shows did you see? And no humidity? My hair would be in heaven... I used to live in Vermont and there's VERY little humidity there. I had such pretty hair in VT. It's a big ol' frizz ball in Atlanta.

nina cloudstar - I have some weird thing about rain like water on my face. I cannot explain it. Welcome!

pinksparkles - Hang in there girl! You'll get back in no time. :)

nightprowler - It's my birthday month too! I'm the 27th. What about you?

mimsyborogoves - Welcome! Nothing quite ruins your Friday like realizing it's only Tuesday. :) and omg - I really am 100% hooked on the lunchables now. Thank you again!

Atarimae - I couldn't do evening classes. I turn into a pumpkin at like 9pm. It's bad news bears.

audri8301 - Once I make up my mind I don't even open the menu. It makes it easier - at least for me anyhow.

It's funny really. I'm an athlete. I'm a triathlete. I'm a triathlete that 100% hates running. I am; however, trying to make myself commit to work on my run time. Sunday - I completed my final triathlon of my season and then yesterday went running. I hate running. You never realize how slow time can be until you're running and you're like, "WTF HOW HAVE ONLY 3 SECONDS PASSED?!?!" DH tossed out that he'd like to do a 1/2 marathon soon. The terrible part? I'd totally do it. I'd hate every single second of it, but I'd do it...

I'm using this off season to greatly improve my run time, put on some muscle and try to place in the top 3 of my division. I've taken 8th before, but top 3 is another ball game. Shoot for the stars, right?

The only thing I hate about the intense exercise/training I do is that after the race I hold onto like 3-5lbs of water because my body is freaking out.

Sorry, totally rambling today. :D

Ahhh I am starting to really hate running!! I think I'm getting bored of it, what you said about time passing slowly is so true!!! But I haven't been able to use my gym over the summer because it was an olympic/paralympic training centre, and when it opens again (ON MONDAY- I AM SO EXCITED!!) I can do some other cardio!! Stupid running!

jmko 10-02-2012 01:56 PM

SoMuch: 6 Flags!! I haven't been there in ages!!! Which one did you go to? We saw Le Reve and The Blue Man group while we were there. BMG was awesome and Le Reve was good but when you go, you NEED to see O & KA. Definitely two of the best shows ever. They're going to be pricey, but totally worth it!

nina: Oh wow! You'll be exercising in the same place the olympic athletes trained in! Talk about motivation!

pinksparkles: When is your birthday? Glad to hear you kept your calories in check!

nightprowler: Birthdays all around! Congrats on the 20 pounds!

mimsy: Welcome!

Atarimae: UGH night classes! I remember doing that when I was in school just so I could work full time. I hate to say it, but I didn't go half the time. Good luck and I hope you have more discipline that I did!

Fatness: Goodness 2.5 hours of exercise?? Go you!

audri: Happy anniversary!! Maybe try looking at some grilled chicken or fish and get sauce on the side. No sense in missing out on the entrees! At least you'll be able to control how much of it you're using. Those sauces are usually filled with cream and butter and all sorts of goodness!!

Day 2 of my official lifestyle change! I got to have cereal this morning with almond milk! IT TASTES LIKE REAL CEREAL! Haha, I need to order more of this! Yesterday wasn't too bad, but early morning I had food poisioning from some chicken I ate late Sunday night. I was queasy all day yesterday. Got through it, drank my 110 ounces of water, and had a healthy dinner of swai, salad, and enoki mushrooms! Tonight we have dinner at my BF's mom's house. She knows we're on this special eating thing so we'll see what she makes for us. Here's hoping the weekend comes quickly!!

Pink Hurricane 10-02-2012 02:18 PM

So I'm thinking of joining up in this thread! Just wanted to make a quick check in today and say hello everybody, hope everyone is having an awesome day!

I am almost done with work for the day, I have been OP and did my workout this morning which was Cardio X from P90X. I'm trying to think of more healthy snacks I can bring with me to work for after lunch because that tends to be a trigger for me. I get more snacky/hungry feeling in the afternoon about a few hours after lunch. Today I brought a Nature Valley trail mix bar with me and it's pretty dang good! :)

Atarimae 10-02-2012 02:30 PM

lisa ~ Let me tell you...my gosh the no red meat and no soda is like a stab through my heaaart! Yeah, I totally have a problem. But actually I don't see it as a problem, since it's not like 5 sodas and countless oz/lbs of red meat.

nina ~ Another one who has a love(ish) relationship with running? I commend you for that. Rain sounds nice though; I love that kind of weather!

pinksparkles ~ At least things are getting back to normal. Happy early birthday!

nightprowler
~ The reminder of Halloween is so bittersweet for me! On the one hand, I'm terribly excited, and on the other...I have my night class, so it sucks. Great job on the 20lb loss!

mimsy ~ Welcome and best of luck with your goal! My gosh, dates are just messing with us. I have like 3 separate things that I get to miss out on due to date clashes. :(

Fatness
~ Daaang, 2.5hr workouts? Way to kick it into gear! I'm grumbling about my 45 min sessions!

audri ~ Happy anniversary! :) I wouldn't touch the menu if you kind of know what you have in mind. Looking at other delish things would tempt me to go off course!

SoMuch ~ I'm a night person, so hopefully this works out well. I just hope I don't end up becoming lazy and not go to class at all! You really are amazing for competing in triathlons. I always tell my friend who bugs me to go running that I don't run. I'll bike, I'll jog/walk in intervals, I'll walk at an incline, but I won't run.

jmko ~ I hope you enjoyed your Vegas trip! Also, that's awesome about your cereal. Almond milk is actually a really great sub for regular milk - and unsweetened has 0g of sugar! Hopefully you feel better though :( food poisoning is awful.

Morning ladies! I kind of think knowing I'm taking two extra classes from this week on is making me lazy. Not so much lazy about the work, but lazy about just being blah, not exercising, etc. Today marks one month since I've restarted this journey, so I weighed in...at 165.6! :yay: 8.4lb lost this past month! Unfortunately, 6 of the 8.4 took place within my first week - I really need to figure out why the weight is being so stubborn now. Suggestions anyone?

I've come to decide that oatmeal with unsweetened cocoa powder and stevia is quite the decadent dessert-breakfast. Yaaay chocolate without the added sugars! Plus, I add in some flaxseed for added fiber. Gaaawd, why didn't I think of this sooner?!

Ah well, it's time to get ready for class. Oh joooy. I'm probably skipping my second one - I found that my professor's lectures may give exam answers, but they're all EASILY found through my note-taking and his study guides. Maybe if I take a nap during that time, I'll be less tired to work out tonight! :D

Quiet Ballerina 10-02-2012 03:01 PM

Happy October everyone! I'll do better with personals after today, but all of the initial messages are a little overwhelming to me right now. :)

It is rainy and pretty gross today.
The other day I was looking through old threads on here and I got a little down. There was one from December of last year that asked where you were going to be in December 2012, and I wanted to be at goal then. :( I know I need to move forward, look ahead, and focus on now. But still disappointed that I'm not where I wanted to be. (And my ticker is off. I'm higher and just reaaaally don't want to update it.) Sigh.

Okay. Whining over. This upcoming Monday, I don't have work!! Thank you Columbus Day! And I had no idea until yesterday. hahaha Nothing like a surprise 3 day weekend.

mimsyborogoves 10-02-2012 03:57 PM

What on earth is that thing in general chatter, and how do we make it go away?

nina cloudstar 10-02-2012 04:40 PM

Originally Posted by jmko:

Yeah it is suuuper inspiring!! But still annoying to not have it all summer, watching the olympics made me itch to get training again!!

I am feeling guilty today because I went to my friends house this evening and she made a big batch of brownies and I had 2. But then I feel ridiculous for feeling guilty, as I've been so good the past 2 weeks and really, it's only two brownies!! I don't want to start getting so worried about food that I can't have a brownie my friend makes for me. Blehhh, am I being ridiculous?

mimsyborogoves 10-02-2012 05:45 PM

2 brownies probably won't kill you. Just be like, "YAY! I got to have a couple brownies!" and let that be that. BTW, I love your avatar pic! 'Tis purdy!

pinksparkles 10-02-2012 05:51 PM

Mimsy: Welcome to the chat! :) Congrats on nearing the newest weight 'decade' - you'll be in and out of those 12s in no time :)

nightprowler: Yay for champagne birthdays! Mine's on the 24th, so I've got 2 more years before my champagne celebrations. :carrot: I love seeing people I haven't seen in a while.. they always have a much different perspective on how I look. It gets hard to see progress when you have to look at yourself everyday. ;)

atarimae: Happy to see you on this new month thread :) I commend you on the evening classes.. I lose all focus when it gets dark outside  Congrats on your weight loss, though- that's awesome! I've found my weight is really sensitive to TOM and my hydration levels.. maybe try upping your water intake?

Fatness: Dang, 2.5 hours? That's some endurance! I can only get about 30-45 minutes in before I'm tired. :p

Audri: Happy anniversary! Restaurants without nutrition info are always tough- but often pretty delicious ;) I normally end up ordering the most reasonable sounding thing then upping my water intake. It all seems to balance out eventually!

Fattitude: Being an athlete is something I aspire to :) The idea of a half-marathon is daunting, but proud of you for considering it! I'm trying to work up the courage to register in a 5K: the distance isn't the problem (I run that ~4 days a week) but.. doing it in front of other people is the scary part. :o

Nina: Switching up the cardio is always nice - I get tired of doing the same thing all the time. Variety is the spice of life, as they say! I know how you feel about the brownies, but don't get down on yourself! If you're still eating at a deficit, then they shouldn't even make a difference. (and who doesn't love good brownie in moderation! ;))

jmko: My birthday's October 24th, I'll be 22. :) I LOVE almond milk! Well, I shouldn't say that- it tastes awful on its own, but GREAT on cereal  Glad to hear you're feeling better!

PinkHurricane: Whenever I hear about someone doing p90X, I automatically think they're hardcore. Way to be! I get snacky during the time between lunch and dinner too - those trail mix bars and a banana keep me full for a while :)

Ballerina: I feel you on the ticker. When I went off plan during the summer, I didn't want to update unless it was a loss. Let's just say.. it stayed the same for a while. You still have a lot of time until December, though- you can definitely be well on your way to your goal! :)

------
Whew! Lots of personals today :)

My goal of the week was to push myself harder during my workouts: one level higher than normal on the bike, the next weight up with strength training, one mile more on my runs.. and I've stuck to it so far! (Granted, it's only Tuesday.. but still.)

I'm heading home this weekend for (Canadian) Thanksgiving, so that'll be a struggle to stay on plan. I've been psyching myself up for it: this doesn't need to turn into a free-for-all weekend..just one larger, more calorically dense meal than usual, then back to normal eating the rest of the time. I plan to fill up my plate with veggies and the turkey, and only have small amounts of the starchy stuff. Holidays are normally tough for me: looking back, I can remember eating to the point of pain / food babies countless times. I'm sort of looking forward to this test of my willpower. Is that weird? :)

nina cloudstar 10-02-2012 06:56 PM

Haha thanks! I wish I could tell you it's me, but it's Mila Kunis!!

Yeah I have decided not to dwell on it, tomorrow is a new (brownie-free) day!

Katbot24 10-02-2012 09:33 PM

Hello peoples!

I'm a little late coming in on October chat, and I apologise for not putting individual responses in, at this point it would seem redundant since everyone's sort of moved on. So I will just start from here!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Midterms are starting at my university and I just wrote my first one today (Biotoxins, actually a super interesting class about poisons present in nature) it went well but I'm most proud of the fact that I didn't use the exam as an excuse to eat crappy. I had a chicken salad with light dressing right before the exam and some coffee and that was that. No using the excuse of needing extra sugar for brain power which I would have done before.

My goal for this month is to hit onederland (finally) and, if I do, I shall reward myself with a belly piercing! I'm hoping that's motivation enough to keep it up through exams and thanksgiving.

BreakingUpWith90lbs 10-02-2012 09:51 PM

Katbot24: Good luck on Onederland!!! Hopefully, I'll be joining you at the end of November :)

Ughh... where to start. I've been avoiding 3FC these past few days because I haven't wanted to vocalize about my binging. But I've been binging the last few days and I can't help myself. Logging on here would mean I'd have to come to terms with it. I hope to god I can keep up my goals and motivation for tomorrow. I was binge free for 3 weeks and then I started it off by getting Chili's, 6 items and Taco Bell and 4 brownies. I want to puke now... but it tasted SO good.

Here's to a binge free October. I want to look sexier in my Halloween costume. How do you guys hold yourself accountable for binges?

SoMuchFattitude 10-03-2012 08:25 AM

Good God A'mighty - I haven't seen this thread this busy in a hot minute!

----

nina cloudstar - That's bomb that you get to workout there. I'm totally jealous. As far as the brownies are concerned: 80/20 rule - 80% of the time stay on point and 20% of the time is for things like friends making brownies.

jmko - 6Flags Atlanta. Yes, it was hilarious because it was corporate night and went from 6pm to 12am and we were all like "6 hours won't be enough!" and at midnight we were like, "OMFG - I'm exhausted. I'm too old for this sh*t. Let's go home. How do children do this ALL day long?" We had stomach aches, headaches, exhaustion. BMG is awesome! They wen't to Bennington College (in VT) which is where I went! My parents have seen them too and love them. What is this diet/lifestyle thing you're doing? What's the plan?

Pink Sparkles - Oh man - you don't really run in front of people. It's just a really fun experience. No one judges you or watches you - trust me. Yeah, I'll have to run a 1/2 for Olympic Distance Tri training. DH is pushing the 1/2 marathon and I'm pushing to do an Olympic Distance Triathlon so perhaps we'll compromise and do both. You should definitely check out a 5k. This is the perfect time of year and there are TONS of "fun runs," like Halloween runs right now.

Katbot24 - Wonderland!!! I'm jealous! Good luck with the piercing! I <3 piercings!

BreakingUpWith90lbs - The best way? Forgive yourself and move on. Treat each meal like a new day.

-----------

Good Morning Good Morning,

It's only Wednesday and it's been such a busy week already! DH and I are throwing a College Football Party on Saturday, so I've been doing a lot of prep work for it. I'm a foodie and a hostess, so I am most excited. I started prepping on Monday. Typically - if I spent a huge amount of time prepping/making food for an event I'm not as tempted to eat it. Which is good considering I'm making Slutty Brownies, Whiskey Bourbon Meatballs, Candied Pecans, BBQ Wings, Cheese Dip, Avocado Hummus w/ Crudites, Boiled Peanuts and Pizza Wraps. (You're welcome for the food porn this morning.)

Yesterday we went out to dinner with my parents and wished them a Bon Voyage since they're leaving for Italy for 3 weeks on Thursday. They're celebrating their 40th Wedding Anniversary by taking a week long rive cruise and then basically hopping country to country for two weeks. It's incredible.

Today we'll play trivia and then tomorrow I go see a shrink for my food issues. I took Friday off of work and I'm helping my BFF move all day and then Friday night we will set up for the party in the theatre we rented and then Saturday the party and Sunday we'll recoup.

PHEW - I'm exhausted thinking about it! Oh - not to mention tossing in exercise, too. I'll run tonight and Friday and call it at that for this week.

nina cloudstar 10-03-2012 10:38 AM

Fattitude: I have to keep reminding myself about the 80/20 thing! It's perfect because I want to be healthy but I want to enjoy life and brownies too. Thanks!!

BreakingUpWith90lbs: Most people will probably disagree, but for me I generally hold myself accountable by weighing myself every day. I found that when I weighed myself once a week or every two weeks, I would think "I'll have that piece of cake, it's fine, I have a week to cancel it out." And I would do that often! Now that I weigh myself every day, I'm staying on track more because the scale will show me tomorrow if I don't!! Although you have to be careful not to get too hung up on the number as it does fluctuate a lot naturally.

Atarimae 10-03-2012 01:16 PM

pinksparkles ~ Best of luck staying OP! Holidays are a really tough time! That's about when I fell off the bandwagon the first time trying to lose weight. Buuut you're not me - you're a lot stronger! :)

Katbot
~ That is definitely a reward worth aiming for! Best of luck - with midterms as well!

BreakingUp ~ Like nina, the main way I hold myself accountable is by weighing in daily. Although that may play many many mind tricks on myself, it's just the easiest thing I can do, even if I see gains. Also, a food diary could work, if you have the patience to log everything! Hang in there, you're doing well so far!

SoMuch ~ Way to make me drool thinking about some great food at 7am! Guess I'll be going back to my oatmeal now...lol. Sounds like you've got a busy busy week ahead of you!

Ohmygooooosh, I'm so nervous. I start the first day of my new school today. I guess I'm mostly nervous because I really don't know how things work in this program? Arghhh, but my class is like 10 hours from now, so I have to deal with work first.

I seriously had this dream where I was at Disneyland and at Splash Mountain, the ride wouldn't wait for me to get ready and load on properly. I keep thinking it's school/life related saying that these opportunities will not wait, so I have to just take the leap or something. Haha! I sound crazy.

Also, how do you girls deal with TOM? Okay, strange question, I know. But this is only the start of my 2nd month of this change, and during my first month, I didn't see any gain. When people tend to retain water/gain during TOM, when does this occur (for you) and when does the whoosh happen? I know everyone's different, but if enough of you can answer, at least I can kinda-sorta know what to expect!

Anyway, happy hump day ladies!

jmko 10-03-2012 01:36 PM

hurricane: Welcome! How is P90X? I always hear about it, but have never done it.

atarimae: I'm starting to love almond milk! It's another great sub for me because I'm also lactose intolerant. During weight loss, the first 10 pounds comes off really easily. Everyone says "water weight." When you finally get into that fat layer to start breaking it down it gets tougher. Try changing up your number of calories or doing a different type of exercise. Some people adjust to what they're doing more quickly. Hope it helps! Good luck on your new class! Play nice with the other kids :)

ballerina: Think of it this way: you're 20 pounds lighter than you were last year. That is quite an accomplishment! Keep pushing yourself and get as close as you can. I found that the last time I did the weight loss thing, I didn't hit my goal but I was more than satisfied with what I was :)

mimsy: what thing in general chatter are you talking about?

nina: I've found with that with cheats, if you reeaaaaallllly have to have it, then have it and be done with it. But enjoy it then move on. If you think you're going to regret it, then you probably really don't want it :) Hope they were yummy, though!

pinksparkles: I haven't tried the almond milk on it's own, but now I don't want to! Haha, FOOD BABIES! I haven't heard that in ages! Love it! I've always said, "thank god thanksgiving's main food is turkey!" At least it's a lean mean instead of being something like pasta! We'd all be in trouble then!

katbot: Good luck on your midterms! And onederland is totally within your grasp! Go go go!

breakingup: Like I told nina, have it and be done, then move on! It seems like you enjoyed it, so that's a good sign. Tomorrow is always a new day, just jump right back on plan! I think it's great to talk about binging. You'll know you're not alone and coming to terms with it will hopefully stop you from overdoing it next time. Oh, and drink a TON of water :)

SoMuch: I always wonder where all my energy went. We have so much as kids and now I just feel so...old! I'm on medifast. It's really like a miracle diet as long as you stick to it. It takes quite a bit of willpower sometimes, but it's not so bad. You eat 5 of their meals a day and then you get one "lean & green," which is one serving of lean meat and 3 servings of veggies. It turns out to be really filling. And because you're eating 6 times a day and drinking a ton of water, you're never really starving. It keeps me from cheating cause I'm always sticking stuff in my mouth (that sounded terrible! haha!). The only thing is no carbs, no fruit, no sugar, no dairy. There are a lot of restrictions, but totally worth it! And all your talk about slutty brownies is making me crave them!

Anyway, the bf and I got into a huge fight last night. He came home from dinner at his mom's (I had to work late) and was all up in arms about how I'm not affectionate enough. At that point I was really tired and kinda went, "okay..." half expecting him to keep talking. But no, he said, "I'm going to pack my things and leave." WTF. Ugh, it turned into a 3 hour arguing/talking session. It just drives me crazy because he can never let me get a word in. He always cuts me off and jumps to conclusions. I feel like if he would just listen to what I have to say he would be more at ease and wouldn't get so upset. Sorry for the rant.

On a better note: A successful two days so far! And I'm down two pounds! WOOHOO! I was terrified to jump on the scale. I always think, "what if the number goes up!!" and when then scale is thinking I'm literally PRAYING for it to be a small number, haha. I'm crazy, I know!

Pink Hurricane 10-03-2012 02:15 PM

PinkSparkles- Haha thanks! I am going at my own pace so I don't exactly feel like I'm kicking butt but I realize I have to build up to it. :D Have a great time back home and enjoy yourself! You can stay OP even through the holiday, it's tough but you can always do a little extra if you need to like going for a walk or calisthenics!

jmko- I love P90X! I did a round of it when I was about 250 and it really helped me. Right now I'm kind of using it as a supplemental workout but it's wonderful, very hard and I can't do all the reps but I'm building up to it! :) Sorry to hear about your bf and the arguing, one of my exes was exactly the same way but he would take it even further and resort to heavy mental/verbal abuse. I hope you guys are able to resolve everything and he does need to let you have your say as well. Also, congrats on your loss so far!!!

I weighed in this morning and I have lost 3.2 lbs of the weight I gained last week. Waiting until my main weigh in day to post the new stats though. I did strength training, Ab Ripper, and did some jogging in place today for my workout. Staying OP with my food intake and making grilled chicken alfredo for my hubby and I tonight. He's been so supportive of me, and then he looked at me all crazy when I told him I still have 50ish pounds to lose.

cutecutecat 10-03-2012 07:33 PM

Hi all! I'm new to the site, so I figured I'd introduce myself here b/c this seems like a pretty cool board!

I'm glad to hear that a lot of you have had a successful first few days of October! Unfortunately, I can't say the same for myself! Yesterday I was all gung-ho on losing weight, but today I got a craving for McDonald's so I went out and grabbed a 20 piece McNuggets, fries, and a drink. I got a couple cool Monopoly pieces, but totally not worth the frustration I felt. I get these McDonald's craving a lot, but I figured out that when I have them, maybe I can just go get a single cheese burger or a 10 piece and still stay in my calorie range...seems more reasonable than cutting it out entirely, right? Or does that sound like I'm not really committed?

mimsyborogoves 10-03-2012 08:34 PM

JMKO -- it was something asking about all these weird prescriptions; seemed like a scambot thing. It's gone now, though.

I'm not goign to reply to everyone either, that's a lot! Lol
----------------------------------

Note to self: DO NOT ALLOW YOURSELF TO BECOME STARVING-TO-DEATH HUNGRY. OMG I can barely control myself when I let myself get too hungry. I can eat the whole house! Of course I don't, but still -- it's not good!!

I was gonna say, maybe next time you get a craving for McNuggets, just get the nuggets. I do that a lot when I crave fast food -- I just get the burger or the main entree and forget the sides.

BreakingUpWith90lbs 10-04-2012 12:45 AM

SoMuch I LOVE hosting parties. It's SO fun! :)

Nina Thanks for the advice! I'll just have to stick with weighing myself every day... even if I do consume 49304930 calories the night before.

Atarimae Good luck with your first day of school! I know the start to semesters can be stressful. But I love fresh semesters - they let you set up so many goals :) When it's my TOM, I've noticed my body go up in weight (water retention), and then the scale will drop off like crazy when it's done. Try not to binge during your period or freak out when you see high numbers! My whoosh comes in about 2 days after. :)

jmko Thanks for the advice! Ugh.. it stinks to hear about your boyfriend. When I get into disagreements with mine, I just tell him I NEED to sleep on it before I resolve/act out on anything. I've always felt that when people are in the heat of the moment, things escalate quickly. I hope you two have resolved things! And congrats on your past few days :)

PinkHurricane Congrats on staying OP! I need to do this in the next few days :) Ab Ripper sounds funnn

cutecutecat Welcome! You'll find a lot of support and amazing people on this site :) Ugh... I know what you mean about fast food. Taco Bell is my weakness. I haven't excluded it from my diet, however, I looked up and listed a bunch of low calorie items I can get and stuck the list in my purse. McDonald's offers a selection of low cal meals. When I go there, I usually get 1 Grilled Chipotle snack wrap (250cals) and a small fry (250cals). It usually fills me for awhile, and only for 500 cals!

Mimsyborogoves That's happened to me the past few days! I don't eat anything until 3pm and then I literally inhale everything in sight. I went from 221 to 225 in ~4 days from binging. So frustrating!

--------

Today was WAY better for me. I stayed OP, and hopefully my weigh in reflects that tomorrow. The past days have been horrible and I've gained 4lbs (hoping most of that is water).

I didn't get as much exercise in today as I wanted to. My boyfriend stopped over and we jogged my puppy at the dog park.

I've been feeling gross all day, and TMI, but I've gone #2 about 5 times (wtf?! hopefully getting rid of my binged food), and I've had a migrane. I wonder if it is due to all the gross foods I've been consuming these past few days.

Also, this is my first month of a new BC (much higher estrogen than the Nuvaring.. but I can't afford that anymore). I've been crampy all day and I just noticed a bunch of spotting. I don't take placebo pills until next week. Have any of you had this problem when switching BC before? I feel so bloated and grossss

Yep, I've had the exact same problem!! Sometimes I get it if I run a couple of packs together too. Your body is just adjusting to the different hormones. If you're still having issues in a couple of months maybe go and see your GP, but I wouldn't worry about it!

jmko 10-04-2012 01:52 PM

hurricane: p90x just sounds so...intense! I guess I'm just lazy. I'll stick to turbojam. I am hoping to get turbofire soon, though! Unfortunately, my diet restricts me from intense workouts for the first few weeks. I've got to stick to walking around the neighborhood :(

cutecat: welcome! I get those mcdonald's cravings ALL the time, too! I was in a food court last night and the french fries were calling my name. I was good and stuck to grilled chicken and veggies from another place, though. I think every little bit counts and it all adds up! Depending on what you're craving maybe just get a cheeseburger or just the fries, or even a mighty kids meal. Skip the soda and have water. I'd look at their website, too for nutrition information! There's a whole list of stuff under 400 calories!

mimsy: whenever I feel like I'm starving I drink water. That reminds me of "Devil Wears Prada." "I'm on this new diet. Well, I don't eat anything and when I feel like I'm about to faint I eat a cube of cheese." I love that movie!

breakingup: Hopefully you're body is cleaning itself out and detoxing after your binge. It may not feel like it when you're in the bathroom, but it's a good thing! I cannot take BCP for the life of me. I have the weakest stomach and get so sick. And that's if I can even remember to take them. I was on the nuvaring then switched to implanon because it was so much cheaper in the long run. The device itself was like $60 after my insurance then the in office cost to put it in was like $120. And it lasts for 3 years.

So the BF and I are a little better, but not much. This whole ordeal has left me exhausted! I finally did some grocery shopping yesterday, though and got to plan my meal for the rest of this week and next week. I'm excited to be cooking again (we've been eating out a lot) and try some new healthy recipes. Today I'm utilizing my crockpot and going to make buffalo chicken. Hooray! Hopefully it turns out okay. What's everyone eating for dinner tonight?

Quiet Ballerina 10-04-2012 02:33 PM

Wow! y'all keep a girl busy. Time to catch up...

pinksparkles good luck with thanksgiving! a friend of mine had people over for "thanksgiving" dinner in August. so this year I'm not sure I'll do anything for an actual thanksgiving. :) Maybe just cook a little of my favorite things.

katbot onederland is a great goal!

Breakingup take it one day at a time. :)
Yes, spotting is definitely normal when you switch to a new BC. For me, it takes at least 2 months before the pills really kick in properly. And yes, your body is trying to get rid of all the junk food; that's probably why you're going so much.

SoMuch Oh man. can I come to your party? Sounds delicious!

Atarimae good luck with classes! you'll be great.
Can't help you on TOM issues. The pill I'm on sometimes causes me to miss my TOM entirely (ugh. Can I just say I freaked out like crazy the first time that happened?) so I don't have the typical gain/whoosh.

jmko eek. doesn't sound like a fun time with the boyfriend. how are things going? did he cool down some?

cutecutecat Welcome! You could try to tackle your McDonald's fix a couple of ways. Either get a smaller amount (I'd drop it down to a kid's meal and have a salad or some veggies from my own place) or pick a day where you can have it. Like....let's say you wanted it today, but your 'cheat day' is Saturday. You'd have to wait until Saturday to see if you still wanted it.
mimsy gave a good suggestion too. Just get the part you crave.

jmko asked what everyone is having for dinner.....and I have no idea. :) So far I've been good today. peanut butter & banana for breakfast. slice of bread with laughing cow cheese for snack, spinach/strawberry/feta cheese salad for lunch, banana for snack.....my smoothie is defrosting.

I think I'll probably have some soup for dinner. I also have a bunch of veggies that I want to throw into the crockpot with some soup, but that might have to wait until tomorrow.

....wish the cool weather would come back so it makes sense to eat soup. We're at 80 right now. Yuck.

Pink Hurricane 10-04-2012 02:34 PM

Mimsy- Yes, I agree about not letting yourself get to starving point. I have found that to be a HUGE pitfall for me, so I try to make sure I feel satisfied throughout the day. I am currently on the hunt still for making sure what I am eating keeps me feeling full and satisfied.

Breakingup90s- Ab Ripper is fun but EXTREMELY intense for me. I have a problem getting every rep done so I set little goals for myself, like knock out 15-20 if I can't make it to 25. Also, congrats for staying OP! That's cute that you and your BF jogged with the puppy. As far as the BC switch, I am pretty sure that is common and should resolve itself soon, especially since you are getting more estrogen than what you are used to. But if it doesn't start adjusting I would get back in touch with your doctor to make sure your body is agreeing with the new BC.

jmko- You are not lazy at all! P90X is a lot of work, and I have to push myself haha. Glad that you got to go grocery shopping for some healthy meals! I am searching for healthy dinners to make as well, and that buffalo chicken sounds so good! Tonight we are planning on grilling a couple of rib eye steaks and I'm going to make us some baked fries on the side.

Staying very much OP today, feeling motivated as well. I did Kenpo X this morning and I am definitely feeling the burn in my arms, core, and thighs today from the bit of strength training I did yesterday. I am continuing daily weigh ins but I am so excited for my official weigh in because I am hoping I lost the extra 5 lbs I put on last week due to TOM. I guess we will see, but I am so glad that tomorrow is Friday!! :carrot:

mimsyborogoves 10-04-2012 09:23 PM

I had a salad for dinner and it was DELICIOUS. Hooray for rotisserie chicken!

Atarimae 10-04-2012 11:36 PM

BreakingUp ~ TOM is here. So I hope my body pulls what yours does! Haha, would love to see a drop. Glad your body is cleansing itself, even if as a result you don't feel too great. Hopefully the new BC is just acting like that because your body isn't used to it!

jmko ~ Mmm buffalo chicken sounds delish! The past two days I've made a healthy chicken parm, but all the leftovers are gone! :( Also, glad you and your BF are better!

Ballerina ~ Aw well thank you anyway! :) I'm not familiar enough with weight loss with TOM yet, but I do hope to see the woosh. It'd be nice knowing some weight making me heavier was water. Oh man do I miss peanut butter...and bananas. Lol, hopefully I can find a looow sugar pb when I go grocery shopping next!

Hurricane ~ I'm wayyy too out of shape to do P90X as a whole, so props to you! But Kenpo X is my favorite in the selection; so much so, that I bring it from house to house only to lose it! Great job staying OP!

mimsy ~ Ah another one who can eat salad for dinner. I really envy you guys for that. Salads just don't fill me. Rotisserie chicken sounds delish though!

Yay, so first day of class was a success - thanks for the motivation guys! The only problem is the bookstore messed up my professor's textbooks! I already opened mine, and because they're good tools for teaching in the classroom, I will keep them as reference. But seriously, $185 for books not needed for a class?! CRAZY.

But I did get approval to miss class next week. The banquet for my bowling league is next week and my teammate said we'll be getting our pot money as well as raffle prizes - all for a ticket that would have cost $40 if we didn't bowl enough games. So excited. Paid to get free food and prizes? I'm in!

Tonight, after work (probably in about an hour or two), my family is gonna have dinner at my grandma's for my cousin's birthday. (Lucky kids, on October break!!) I was told it's a pizza night, so I'm worried about staying OP and also worried about seeing a gain. :( I will update on how this goes!

mimsyborogoves 10-05-2012 01:54 AM

I usually keep salad as a lunch deal, but tonight was one of those nights where my mom didn't feel like cooking so she went and bought the chicken and the salad fixin's and threw it together. It really was filling, though! You gotta learn how to doctor it up to make it do right. Since I was eating it for dinner, I put in a full 3oz serving of chicken, reduced fat cheese, and bacon bits so it would have a lot of protein. Protein is the key to making salads filling.

About the only thing I don't miss about college was buying textbooks; although, since I was an English major, my textbook cost went down every year because I mostly only had to buy novels. I didn't even spend $100 on books during my last semester. I heard it from everyone else, though. Science majors had it the worst!

Katbot24 10-05-2012 11:51 AM

Atarimae: you can easily eat 1 or 2 slices of pizza as long as you account for it earlier in the day, so don't worry too much.

Mimsy: Science majors do have it bad (I paid $400 for this semester's books) but in Canada at least Business school students have it the worst. My fiance spent $700 just for this semester's books. All required.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

SO I'm FINALLY back to 209, my body reaaaalllly didn't like me skipping my period this month and got all water retain-y. I also have the whole weekend off of work so I can attend thanksgiving at my future FIL's (on Saturday) and my future MIL's (on Sunday). Hopefully I can manage to balance all that food and stay OP.
