|
Me too!! woohoo on your 20 pound loss :)
|
I cant wait till i can say I've lost 20 pounds. Well done
|
Hello ladies, would love to join this group..need some motivation! I'm currently in a sticky situation as I'm away from home for the next two months and have no access to a scales, so super paranoid about keeping my eating in check! On the plus side though i'm doing way more exercise than I usually would so fingers crossed by the time I go home I'll have lost at least 10-15 pounds...:) looking forward to getting to know you all, well done everyone on progress so far :)
|
I did a big workout this morning I ate a chicken quesadilla yesterday at the bowling alley all I ate was breakfast so I was starving. I figured working out longer today would make me feel better lol I feel amazing and I burned 400 calories today.
@chloe I wish I could be saying that to!! @Buckkeepblue I would hate not having a scale available to me Im like addicted to weighing myself before I was scared to see my weight but now I weigh myself like 3 times a day lol I cant wait to see how well you've done so far! |
Night- Congrats on your loss so far!!!
Buckkeepblue - I understand your paranoia but like you said it's a huge plus that you will be exercising more than you are used to! It's good because you can focus more on your body changing and when you get home you might be surprised what will pop up on the scale! :) Sammie- That is awesome you have burned that much with your workout today! I do the same thing if I feel like I have overeaten or such, I always just workout more intense the next day lol. I did my two P90X workouts for the day and logged my meals into MFP. I'm pretty sore needless to say but I am more energized than I have ever been in a while! I need to start a search for healthy dinner recipes, breakfast and lunch are always easy but I want to make something yummy and healthy for dinner for the hubs and I. |
Helloo everyone...
to those who are working out real hard: sammie, pink hurricane, buckkeepblue, congrats ,, I need the inspiration... im very lazy when it comes to working out but ive started going for regular brisk walks daily and hopefully will incorporate more routines! Was invited to.a dinner party.. Those are the hardest... Guilty of devouring a slice of cake and some pudding... But will try to get in 3 extra laps during my walk tomorrow... I really need to step up my game!! |
Oh and a funny/weird thing hapened to me today.... The couple who invited us over for dinner had their psrents visiting too... The old lady comes up behind me while we're just about to leave, slaps my a** and goes "when are u going on a diet?!" I was like :o .. Wat does one do when someone u dont really know tht well does smthng like tht!
|
thanks everyone. im feeling pretty good about the loss, can't wait for me. Theres so many little NSV's ive been having lately my confidence has definately increased
|
Sammie and Pink - well done on your workouts! I love how much better you always feel after exercise, it really relaxes and clears the head!
hamlette That was a really insensitive thing of that woman to say, don't take it to heart though sometimes older people are just like that! And the hardest part with exercise is always the start..it will get easier, try do something you enjoy ;) |
Hamlette try not to take it to heart. My grandma has called me fat even when I was losing weight. My sisters sons grandmother made a comment to my sister she said " if her husband really loved her he wouldnt let her get that way" Talking about my husband and I. I wanted to slap her in her face. Im not that over weight but she sure did make it seem like I was. I just brushed it off.
Nightprowler What is NSV's? Im sorry I have no idea what it is or means :) Has anyone been getting extremely tired? I noticed after I workout I feel great but by the time noon rolls around I am so tired I have to take a nap and sometimes Im so tired I sleep for like 4 hrs! I set my alarm and im so tired I hit snooze. I do not like sleeping like this. Any suggestions on what I can do to help keep me energized and not so tired? Hope everyone is having a great night! |
Pinkhurricane Im glad your doing great! I wish I could have some of your energy lol Ive found low calorie meals that I do. None of them are over 300 calories and pretty yummy too :) Do you eat the same meals weekly? I read that you shoud eat the same meals weekly. I do it and it seems to be going great. I chane up breakfast and snacks. Usually I just have fruit for breakfast. I like to have light yogurt to. What do you do?
|
sammie: i used to feel tired after my morning power walk,,, used to go for a walk around 6 a.m. ,, felt all energised and great afterwards,, but i always felt very drowsy around 11ish and even dosed off at work once or twice!!!! so i stopped walking in the morning and instead went out in the evenings,,,, wonder why the drowsiness though,,,, anyone???
|
hey ladies- drowsiness is lacking of energy (as in not enough cals). try to eat something with complex carbs before the workout, and slow digesting proteins after.
|
I usually eat under 90 calories for breakfast and go workout at 7am I burned about 500 calories this morning. I will eat a higher calorie breakfast before my workout and see if that helps! Thanks!
Today I did a 4 mile speed walk in 60 minutes. I got a lovely blister on my toe lol I also lost 1 pound :) Only 31 pounds left! |
Sammie, I usually eat the same thing for breakfast and lunch but try to mix up dinner a little bit. For breakfast I will either have whole grain cereal, english muffin, or pancakes with a little bit of butter. I always have a few cups of coffee, usually with skim milk and occasionally with a tbsp or two of creamer as long as I can afford it caloric wise. For lunch I generally try to focus on getting in my protein so I will have a sandwich made with wheat bread, and either egg and cheese, turkey, chicken, and then a couple of servings of vegetables or fruit, or a salad with plenty of colors. Dinners I always mix up because I don't want to be feeding my husband the same thing every night haha. He doesn't care either way but I always love trying new recipes! His favorite dish I make is chicken wings, with canola oil.
|
Oops way too much impulse snacking has happened this weekend! Going to have to really make the effort this week, if i go home in six weeks time and have gained weight i'm gonna be so mad!! Sammie,I'm really tired these days too..I put it down to doing more exercise than usual, it's really annoying to be so drowsy during the day.. on the plus side though I sleep like a log every night!
|
I would love to join you lovely girls! Recently, I have found myself lacking in the friends department and definitely could use some people to talk to who understand my focus to lose weight.
I have 20-25 meals that I typically rotate between for dinners. Right before I grocery shop, I make a list of all the meals that sound the best (usually about 8-10) for that week, then when I go I choose 7 meals for the week based on what is on sale or has good looking meat, etc. Right now I have beef stew in the crock pot cooking for dinner today. For breakfast and lunch, I usually choose 2 options when I grocery shop for the week and rotate between them so I'm not eating the same thing every single day. But those options change weekly depending on what sounds good at the grocery store. Right now for breakfasts, I have organic low calorie cereal with 1% milk and fruit for one breakfast and a crockpot apple and steel cut oats for the other breakfast. For lunch, I have BBQ chicken wraps on the 90 calorie flatout wraps for one and a chicken green salad for the other. Since I rotate meals each week, I don't get bored of what I'm eating and I am able to plan out my week of eating and not end up running through a drive up or something because I don't have anything in my house. |
hello hello everyone!!!!
im back :D had an engagement party to attend in the family over the weekend so been very busy with tht,,, and yes,,, ive been off track as far as eating and exercise go,,, but starting again from today,,,, will be getting on the scales tmrw and expect a 3-4 lbs gain :( lets see what happens,,,, quite scared |

Hamlett Dont feel guilty I did the same thing lol I had five guys burger, fries and soda. Then another night I had pizza. Oh and an ice cream  BUT im good now and back to my low calorie diet.
Brethan Way to go!! I hope everyone had a great weekend! Besides me eatting bad things I had a good weekend. I havnt been able to workout this week cause Im babysitting. Ive been worried I was going to gain weight but if anything I dropped a pound 12 pounds total :carrot: I cant wait to start my working out again next week! My doctor put me on metformin so I feel a little blah today. Is anyone eles excited for thanksgiving? I cant wait Ive been craving turkey :D |
I have worked out every day this week so far, and I feel pretty fantastic! I am hoping to see a good loss from this week, and I have so much energy! Also I am super excited because my husband is finally off of night shift, we were talking last night before we fell asleep and he was talking about how much he missed being able to sleep with me every night, so now we can be together every night instead of a few nights a week! :D It'll be nice to be on a very similar schedule together for a while.
Which he pointed out means we will start running hard soon, which I am looking forward to. He runs so fast so I told him he might have to slow his pace for me to keep up  |
Pink hurricane Your doing such a great job!! Cant wait to see what your end of the week result is :) Im glad you and your hubby get to sleep together now thats gotta be hard not having him there sleeping next to you!! My husband is Army he runs so fast for so long and Im like yeah I cant do that LOL He runs along me though he better not leave me in the dust!
Ive lost another pound! I was jumping with joy this morning and gave my hubby a big high five lol I cant wait to hit that 15 pound mark its so exciting! Hope everyone is doing great!! TGIF :) |
Hi everyone. I also want to make friends. Hope that I can be your buddy too. I just started my diet today. Hoping to lose 145-155 lbs. My starting weight is 295 lbs.
|
Welcome chefchesca :) do you have a goal set?
|
Hi chefchesca! Welcome to the thread :) Good for you starting your diet, what is your plan i.e. calorie counting or a specific diet..?
@sammie, congrats on the loss! So frustrated that i cant weigh myself here, but think ive been pretty good so far this week so gotta just try keep it up! Also am going to take a photo every week to see if i can notice any loss that way..will prob be a few weeks before there's any visible change though..! |
Sammie- Great job with the loss!!! Also, my husband is Army too. Haha that's a huge reason he can run so fast! He said he will slow it down with me because he already has to run fast at PT  Awesome to meet a fellow Army wife. :)
Chefchesca- Welcome! What are some of your goals? Did my workouts today too, staying on plan, we are grilling chicken sausages tonight which are healthier than regular sausages. Hubby has been in a grilling mood and I'm loving every minute of it because he's great at it and I love grilled food in general. Happy TGIF to everyone! Here's to all of us staying OP this weekend! :hat: |
down with severe flu and fever... :( .... Feel like crap... My head keeps on spinning,, couldnt even go out for my daily walk.....
|
Buckkeepblue I bet your frustrated!! How are you keeping at your weight loss? If you dont mind my asking where are you? lol like to where you dont have access to a scale.. It would kill me :)
Pink hurricane That sounds delicious!!! Yay fellow Army wife :) hamlette Im sorry your not feeling well :( Yesterday I felt like I had the flu but Its just this new medication im on thats messing me up. I hope you feel better!! Eat some healthy soup and drink lots of water :getwell: Yesterday I was able to have panera bread and stay under my calorie limit. I got the soup and salad. I dont feel to bad since I didnt go over. I have also lost another pound!!! So hubby is treating to a good breakfast this morning :) Anyone have plans for this weekend? |
I'd love to join this. I totally lack in motivation sometimes (ok, a lot of the time..)
No major plans this weekend. Took my kid to a Dora the Explorer show yesterday and going to spend today visiting some family and friends. Kind of worried about that since we're eating dinner with family and they're not the most healthiest cooks. If I eat beforehand, they'll be insulted. If I eat with them, my weight loss 'til now will be out the window. Decisions, decisions.. :( |
hamlette I'm glad you didn't gain as much as you thought you would and got back and track! Sorry that you're sick now. Feel better!
sammielaw Good for you! MrsDeenz Welcome! I would suggest a healthy snack before you go so you're not starving and can portion control whatever they have for dinner. That's what I do when I go to my mother-in-laws. She usually makes ribs or something without a vegetable in sight. But if I didn't eat anything, she would be super offended. So I usually eat a nice healthy snack so I don't go super hungry and nibble on whatever she made/ordered for dinner. I have been doing super well most of this week, especially considering it is shark week and my hormones and cravings are out of control. I usually stall during my period but this week I actually still lost .5 lbs. Today, I had some fruit and cereal for breakfast and made brown rice with cut up steak, veggies, and a little stir fry sauce for lunch. It was delicious! I woke up craving pizza though and we may end up getting that for dinner.. I'm thinking I'll have a salad with it and only have 1-2 pieces to satisfy the craving without going overboard. Thankfully shark week is only once a month or I would never lose weight! |
Sammielaw - I'm in Poland, but in this really small village with no big shops or anything where I could buy a scales..and even if there was I'm only here for five more weeks so not really worth it! Have been tracking my calories on myfitnesspal though so if the maths adds up and I keep going the way I have been this week I should def have lost about 10lbs when I get home...will have to wait and see!! Will be exciting to weigh myself when I get back :)
@hamlette That sucks that you're not well, hope you feel better soon!! @MrsDeenz Welcome to the thread...yaaay motivation!! :D I cycled about 20 miles today and burned about 400 calories so pretty pleased with myself :D Just have to try and find the balance in my diet so that I'm eating enough to be able to maintain the diet over a long period while still losing weight..Are any of you doing the 30lbs by New Year challenge? I obviously can't weigh in right now but am still aiming towards it...if I lost 20-25lbs I'd be super pleased! Kind of scared about CHristmas though, I always pile on the pounds in December! |
Hey!!
I wanted to join you guys & get some motivation with being a part of a support group! A little bit about me... I'm what you would call one of those professional yo-yo dieters (something I'm not proud of...)... The only difference now is that it's been a while since I've been into the whole working on my weight thing. I worked really hard at it over the summer & got down to about 285ish (highest at the time was 330), and I was very proud of myself! Unfortunately overtime, I got depressed and unmotivated... also my friend always wanted to go out to eat, so I'm sure that didn't help matters too much. I just let myself go back up to the weight I was & a little bit more :/... I just told my parents I've been depressed recently, which now that they know, I have someone to hold me more accountable, at least at home. I know my weight is a big factor in bringing me down emotionally... I'm really wanting to try to turn that around. Just being healthier in general can make me a happier me, which I am excited for! That might be a bit lengthy "about me" lol... but I am really looking forward to getting to know you all! Knowing I have a place to go to & share my struggles as well as victories will be quite helpful! Some personal goals I have in order to help me lose weight is to: * Exercise at least 4 times per week. * Stop drinking soda & sweet tea * Keep a food journal I also have my mini goals for my weight listed at the bottom. What are some ideas you guys use to stay motivated and keep at it? I'm lacking very much in the motivation department... |
Sammie- I loveeee Panera! Especially their grilled chicken caesar salad and broccoli and cheese soup! Congrats on losing another pound too!
MrsDeenz- Welcome to the group! I know what you mean about family dinners and having that pressure around them to eat a lot. What I started doing is having a little bit of all the sides and a good portion of meat and usually I don't get all of the weird questions about why I'm not eating such and such and so on  Meliz- Good job for staying on track even though it is shark week! I always want chocolate for some reason when it's TOM. Also if you are having pizza I like to do the same thing, I usually have a huge salad beforehand and then have about 2 pieces, sometimes 3 if I can afford it caloric wise. Buckkeep- What are you in Poland for? Never been there but it's on my list of places to see. Also, I am on MFP if you want another buddy on there! Don't stress about Christmas, I have the same problem but I am planning on fitting in extra workouts and making sure I enjoy myself and try not to go overboard. homie- Welcome to the group! I used to yo yo diet back when I had no business trying to lose weight when I thought I was fat  That definitely backfired later on. Also I'm glad you told your parents about your depression. I've been there before and losing weight and exercising has helped that out so much for me! I know it will help you too because it is a natural mood booster and once you start feeling good about yourself, you start feeling great about everything else. I think your goals are great! Take it one day at a time, I cut out soda for good about 3 months ago and I definitely don't regret and don't really crave it much anymore. Don't overwhelm yourself either, take baby steps and exercising 4 days a week is a very attainable goal. Even if it's just taking a walk just keep moving! Also for journaling there are a ton of websites where you can keep track, my favorite has been My Fitness Pal, so check that out too! This weekend has been super busy, I am watching the race right now and I'm about to start making dinner for hubby and I. I'm making grilled chicken alfredo and it fits very well into my intake for the day. I'll even have room for later if I decide to have a little snack or something. I went for a walk yesterday even though it was supposed to be a rest day but I was feeling pretty energetic so I thought why not. Went for a run today, went about 5mph for 27 minutes so I got a decent burn. Tomorrow morning is my official weigh in day so I am hoping to update my stats and ticker with a decent loss! How's everyone's weekend been? |
Buckkeepblue You are amazing! Congratulations for working off so many calories! I always get worried about holidays, too. I'm hoping this year I can avoid the bad stuff and just focus on being able to spend time with my family!
homiegiiib Welcome! My biggest thing to stay motivated is just to check in every day with a few close people that help me stay on track. My husband and I plan out our meals together so he can help me stay on track. If you ever need someone to talk to, I'm here. It's definitely easier to stay motivated when you have people to talk to who understand. Pink Hurricane Yum, chicken alfredo! Do you happen to have the recipe to share? I love chicken alfredo but it's a food I've kind of given up since I only know how to make it super heavy with way more calories than I can afford. Good for you going on a run on a rest day! :) Well, I did gain slightly from the pizza even though I didn't eat nearly as much as I would have before I started this healthier lifestyle. Then this morning, I proceeded to eat a leftover piece for breakfast. But then I went "what the **** am I doing??" and I ate healthy the rest of the day, so should still be on target with calories despite the terrible for me breakfast. I have to go into the office tomorrow morning so I am about to go make oatmeal muffins so I have something filling and healthy to bring with me for breakfast and I'm going to pack a lunch so I don't get tempted to go down to the cafeteria. I work from home 4 days a week, so I always worry that I won't have enough food when I leave my house and will be tempted by the food available to me. I have to actually go into the office a few days this week, so I'm trying to plan my food so it doesn't mess up my intake. |
@Pink I'm an ecologist and im doing a training placement thing out here for two months to get some extra experience! Love the country, planning on visiting Krakow next month so super excited about that! :D Will look you up on MFP ;-)
@MeliZ thanks! :D I've no car out here so I'm cycling everywhere, makes it easy to burn a lot without having to think about it too much! Don't stress about the pizza, we all do it! And yeah packed lunches are they way to go, I always impulse buy the fattiest lunch if Im rushed and hungry. @homie Welcome to the group :D This week hasn't started as well as planned for me, burned a lot of calories yesterday but then ate them back and more as I went out for dinner with some friends..oops! And now today I've exceeded again coz i snacked too much this morning.. Oh well, not great but not the worst ever, will just have to try harder the next few days...determined to have dropped 12lbs by the time I head home!:) |
