Just saw my now 262 lb body in a pic. im a tank, im built like a house. i cant believe i was 73lbs heavier than this, how did i not just die? looking at those pics theres no way 150 is a good enough goal despite being 5'7.5, im thinking 125lbs is a better goal right now. like im huge. i knew i was big but wowwwwwww. i could be a bouncer. its not like fat fat, its bulk fat, does that make sense? like i dont have a tonne of rolls or anything, its just pure broad bulky fat. like i could totally be a bouncer, i look like one i look like i could totally beat up a man. oi. 125 im thinking is a better goal. this like the weight i can lift O___O any one else been shocked at themselves and revised their goals?

Oh man. Been there, done that. Someone takes a pic, and you go, "Uppfuhhhghh... is that ME? I look like that?"

I vividly remember in high school... 9th grade... when my hips had finally come in... someone in our photography class took a pic and I was in the background. Facing away. And I was as wide as a brick ****house. And SHOCKED. I had NO idea I looked like that from behind. It's a major wake-up call... but also just another means of depressing ourselves, when we should be feeling happy, proud and accomplished with the weight we have lost, and are in the process of losing.

I know what you mean though about your size. It's not... sloppy fat. It's... thick fat. You look sturdy. Honestly, I'd prefer to look sturdy fat than sloppy with rolls coming out of your rolls---!

But I don't think you need to revise your goal when you're 112 lbs away. Aim for 150 still... and see how you feel when you get there!! In another 112 lbs, you might be a teensy little stick figure.
I don't know how tall you are, so I don't know if 125 is a good goal weight for ya or not... but... I'd play it by ear! Or rather, by scale.

im 5'7.5 yea its sturdy. like a brick house. i knew i was like that cause i can toss around other chicks like they are feathers but seeing it in a pic was like holy cow im a bullO__O

Haha, I've felt that way before too about some pics. Believe me, sturdy at 150 is likely to be an AWESOME size!!!

And hey, if you're that confident--- if you ever feel the need to try to throw me around like a feather, I'd be much obliged. My boyfriend picked me up once when he was drunk, and proceeded to trip and drop me in front of 30 people. I have never felt so light and dainty..... -.-

I know what you mean about being shocked by pictures of yourself, but I would definitely not bother revising your goal yet. For one thing, you have NO IDEA what you'll look like at 150 or at 125 until you get much closer. For another, what difference does it make? You still have to lose weight either way, so just get down to 150 and then see if you still need to lose.

LOL my bf can lift me and im like ok youre just not human anymore. usually i get drunk and spot one of my female friends thats like 140lbs and i pick her up and spin her around. they aren't pleased but to drunk charlie its the most fun thing ever. i could definetly lift you, my sisters 180 and i can lift her pretty easily. i think its from carrying around music equipment. id hate to be dropped im terrified of heights even like 3 feet. i guess i will just take it a lb at a time and once im 150 see if thats where i want to be. i want to be like a size 4 or 6. if im going for thin im going for broke you know? like take it all the way, no in between chubbyness or anything

Hah, love it. My boyfriend does that-- picks up everyone in existence when he's drunk. Not many people ever seem too pleased by it, but he's Irish, so the accent seems to appease their immediate anger.

And woo, hey, if you can pull off a 4 or a 6, kudos to you!!!! At my itty-bitty teensie-weeniest, I'm roughly an 8. Maaaaybe a 6 if I've been doing Atkins and had a couple of stomach flus. (Favourite diet-related movie line from The Devil Wears Prada: "I'm just one stomach flu away from my goal weight...")


I think we should focus more on finding pics of ourselves (especially at smaller sizes) that we loooove, and use them to motivate.


...Maybe I should make a thread on that. I have a video of my (possibly drunken ***) dancing around my bedroom to a pop song at my smallest (and happiest) weight, and I go back to it from time to time to get inspiration.

i havent seen skinny since i was 14 and those pics are long gone unfortunately. funnily enough my newfoundland accent calms people down too :P ppl just like anyone that sounds like a leprechaun lol sure you scared the he*l out of me charlie but you sound like youre hiding a pot of gold somewhere so im cool with it lol

LOL yes i am. yea we have a roomate upstairs, been here 4 months, and wasnt until i was washing dishes other day and heard him say, yea back in cork..and i was like what youre irish? i thought you were from here loll and he thought i was from ireland. we both thought that for months

Hahahahahahaha, that's brilliant. I always thought it was as close as you could get to a Cork accent, but being the Irishman that he is, he went, "No, no, it's much closer to --" and then named two very abstract regional accents. And I went, "Yuh-huh, whatever. I think it sounds Cork, baby."

Do you say "boy"? But pronounce it "bai"?

b'y its like boy without the y but it isnt 'by' lol its so hard to explain . i guess bie is closedt? like pie but with a b :P theres actually classes in newfoundland english at the uni here. yea we're supposedly closer to waterford and devon but every little area has its own euro influences, there are parts were everyone has a french accent but no one speaks french, and theres a lot of germans too , every little area has their own accent but for the majority its an irish based accent i guess.

Love it. And yea, bie, bai. When I read those two, they're pronounced the same to me.

Either way, way more interesting than southern ontario accents. Which are just... central american accents with the slight twist of elongating our "ou" sounds, and very stereotypically adding "eh" on to the end of sentences when we want to illicit a response....

Ever since my stint in Ireland where people would impersonate me by saying, "Oh, hi, eh?" I've tried to explain the usage of eh....


"It's effing cold outside," is a standalone statement.

"It's effing cold outside, eh?" is a statement looking for a response/agreement from the other party.

Appropriate responses:
"Why yes, it is indeed effing cold outside."

or,

"Man up and be a Canadian, you whiner!"

LOL i lived in ontario for a month and I kept wondering why everything became a question with the eh . language is pretty fascinating, i figure its like germany/austria. they speak the same language but austrians speak such a different dialect that despite understanding german, austrians might as well speak mandarin to me, id have the same chance to understand them lol cept germany and austria are diff countries were as we aren't.

Charlie, you're 5.7 1/2? so am i! and I look AWESOME at 180 (which makes me an 8) and I look sick at 160 (which puts me around a 6, go figure)
Im also built like a brickhouse (a curvy one, but a house nonetheless) and ppl joke with me all the time that im built like a midget because my weight is even distributed and i have short legs :-(
I agree with everyone else, get to 150 and see how you look/feel. then keep going. When i got under 160 a long time ago, i acutally had to gain weight. I kept my thick legs/thighs, but my top half looked emaciated.
Keep going and good luck! also, take pictures often. they make the best inspiration! I saw a pic of me at a picnic, sitting and eating a burger (i was in the background) and i was mortified. I was lighter then than I am now, but i just kept thinking "dont you know youre not supposed to feed the elephants?!" (im my worst critic)
But as I have been getting smaller, i look at pictures from before I started and i can see my belly is smoother (a nice way to say smaller) and my thighs are thinner and my face is thinner and it makes me happier. I am about 120 lbs from my goal, but I am basking in the happiness of the 25 i've dropped so far.
