  • Rie - I know, I know, I need to do some of my dvd's. I can't go to the gym right now because of DD. My babysitter had a partial hysterectomy this past Friday so I can't just drop DD off and go. I will have to do that when she gets back on her feet. Thanks for the push! Your puppy is adorable! I wish we had the patience for a dog. We just can't do it in the house we are renting right now. I hope she does well for you.

    MST
    - I wouldn't let one pound bother you...5, yes, 1, no. I also think I would trust my doctor too. I basically agree with Rie on that.
  • can I join in? It's nice to hear from others who are fighting the same battle!!

    I started in October with 20 or 22lbs to lose....and I'm currently down 9lbs Not spectacular, but better than nothing!

    My biggest struggle is eating the *right* things!! I'm typically pretty good not to go over my calories for the day, but I don't always make the right choices on foods. The result, I am still losing weight, but I still feel crappy and have not a lot of energy. Another reason for feeling crappy and having little to no energy is that I can't seem to get my butt in gear with working out. I have a 20 month old (oh.my.goodness. she CAN'T be that big!), and I also work 2 jobs outside of being a housewife/mommy. I CAN make time, but it is hard.

    I'm still learning and "getting my ducks in a row" so everything will work out. I just need to find my "sweet spot" with a food and exercise routine.

    I haven't been posting much lately, but I've been reading a lot, so HELLO EVERYBODY!
  • I don't know why but I've become a bit lazy over the past week or so with counting calories and exercising. I also keep eating too much.. instead of 1200 like I'm supposed to, ive been eating 1300-1500 a day :/ I consumed 1587 today! motivate me?

    Also jesus christ it is FREEZING here in Sydney! It's supposed to be summer, its colder than winter! Pretty much since the beginning of December its been about 18 degrees (thats 65 Fahrenheit!)
  • Hey people! Usually I'm posting when I do good and not posting when I'm not on plan. This time it's different, I did good for 9 days, then on the 10th I had 600kCal of crisp Damn it! PMS comes and my body is like an bottomless-salt-craving...thing. And then I have only regrets when I'm all bloated. Yuck. But I'm determined to get right back on plan today. It's just 25 days left till 2012 and I made a goal to be 169.x The lowest I've seen in 2011 was around 171 and the highest was around 181lbs. So I can say I maintained, but that isn't making me very happy, cause I had a goal of losing the weight in 2011. And I am going to do it in 2012, starting from now. Cause I just have to.

    Pardon me ladies for appearing such irregularly on the board and hence, not being a good support. But it means so much to me just logging on and posting publicly, makes me feel responsible and accountable.
    I will do personals tomorrow.
  • Hey guys! So I also am going to continue to post about my good and bad days. This weekend I had my brother in law staying with us so I thought that I would be completely ruined both diet and homework wise, but I think I did pretty well. I had a few bad meals but I was really good about at least doing small portions of the bad things and eating super healthy the rest of the time. I did have a light beer or two each night this weekend just with dinner, but it was light (still not awesome but I worked out and stayed under my calorie limit of food so not horrible). I weighed in and am holding strong at 148.5. I really wanna see 147, I mean I I've hit 148 before Thankgiving before I gained back and now my body is still teasing me at 148. So when I see 147 I will be doing a super victory post because it will be a big break through

    So the plan for this week is the next week will suck, finals time, huge papers, but it is my goal that in light of less exercise time I will keep my diet in ultra check! I can do this! Must see 147!

    ~~~~
    Rie-you puppy is sooooo cute!!!!! Wow I love him! Soon maybe you can walk and run with him so it will be a win win
    Way to go pushing the insanity! One little pig out is fine, as long as you keep pushing with the exercise and eating well the rest, which I know you are.
    Namaste- congrats on getting engaged soon! We look forward to hearing stories and of course seeing pictures of the ring!! 9.8 lbs is awesome, I am sure you will get that .2 lbs no problem and then some! I am glad to hear that everyone that does Zumba is not a dance pro lol! Maybe one day I will brave up and try it
    Shauna- I know what you mean by this not feeling it with the exercise! When it is chilly and rainy and I have a ton of school I have trouble making myself workout. The at home workout works tho, which I saw you said you had DVDs. Anything that really works awesome? Hope that all is going well with you
    Mst- I wish I knew what to tell you, sounds worrisome I would listen to your doctor and make sure he knows all of the situation. I hope you get it taken care of. Good luck.
    Emerald: welcome!!! I know what you mean the eating is the hardest for me. I found I could not eat the wrong things and hit calorie goals because I use myfitnesspal and so I have fat limits and fiber goals and all this so it keeps me in check so if I eat bad things then I am pretty much out of luck. I had to learn how to eat to make sure I was balancing my diet and getting healthy eating habits and not just eating a certain number if calories because that doesn't make you healthier in the long run. Google some food journals like myfitnesspal. They can be really helpful.
    Unpretty: welcome first off why 1200 calories? Maybe that is too few calories for you body. Do you workout? What might help is changing what you are eating to include alot of low cal and filling foods so that you don't go over. Lots of veggies and foods with lots if fiber can do the trick! And by the way I would love 65 degrees right now
    Hot healthy- welcome back! You can absolutely make that goal. Don't beat yourself up for giving in to small things, just have a small bite a time to get rid of the craving and if you have a small bite and wait a bit maybe the craving will leave before you have consumed too much. That is what I try to do when PMS gets me down. Keep posting and keep pushing, you will get there soon!
    ~~~

    Off to the store, gonna get me some brussel sprouts and natural peanut butter yay for whole foods!
  • Jamie1985: yeah I have been exercising but over the past week or so I've been slacking off badly now I'm a bit worried though because my monthlies are a few days late, and I'm not sexually active at all. I'm worried it could be something to do with my diet, because for the first half of the month I was really in control of my eating habits, having on average probably 1100 a day, but sometimes even less, sometimes a bit more. Maybe it wasn't enough? Maybe I'm even iron deficient because I haven't been getting my weekly serving of red meat (I'm a chicken lover)

    PS: 65 degrees in summer is insane for us :P
  • So i'm new on this forum and just starting out my weight loss journey. I guess I will start out by telling you all a little about myself (If you don't mind me joining this thread that is).

    I am currently 24 years old and in University to become a Social Worker. I am a food addict (I guess admitting it is the first step to overcoming it). I am not working at the moment.. But I am looking for a job. I hope to get one before next semester of school starts. I have a adorable cat named Elijah (Pictures if you guys want!). And I have a whole heck of a lot of weight to lose. *Sigh* I let myself become really big.. although I've been overweight since probably about 11 or 12 years old.

    AND if you can all sort through that Paragraph and make sense of it I give you all props.. My head is so jumbled right now.. It's the end of the semester and I'm stressed from writing papers and such. (Food is my comfort). Yeah I guess that's it for now.

    sgregg That's a great quote in your signature.. where did it come from?
  • Hey ladies!

    My workouts with Shaun T have been going amazingly well this week. I know, it's only Thursday, but after having a 2 week no-workout streak and then being on and off for a week more I'm really proud that I've stuck to every workout this week. No more excuses!

    My weight has stalled at 163 for the 3rd week running, so I'm hoping by Sunday I can break that streak. I had a pig out day with a friend Monday and yesterday was my Mum's birthday so we had a curry, so it's not been the best for food either! So I've got my fingers crossed when my period passes I'll be down to 162 lbs - lower would be a welcomed miracle!

    Little Luna puppy has been consuming a lot of my time. She's lovely, but sometimes the fact that she's so new to the family can get frustrating when she doesn't listen to you yet. I'm so used to having dogs who know their names and know to leave something alone when you call them, unfortunately Luna is in that terrible habit of eating her own poop =(.

    That's about all I have to rant about! Going bra shopping tonight to get re-measured. I haven't been measured properly since I was a teenager, but after losing weight I really need to know what bra size I really am! I'll be gutted if it's the same haha.

    ~~

    sgregg - Home workouts are perfect for people who are busy/can't afford a gym. I hope you find the motivation inside you to push yourself more! You can do it =).

    Emerald - Welcome! Sounds like you have a pretty hectic life! But it's great that you know you can make the time. Finding the right balance is hard, but once you get into the swing of things it'll just become apart of your daily routine. I find when I don't workout I feel very strange and disappointed. What workouts do you do? It's important to find something you LOVE and want to do. Passion has to be apart of your exercise, or it'll seem like a chore you'll push back further and further. Eating is tricky, so just educate yourself on nutrition. I always advise people to look into nutrition as a normal healthy human - not someone who's trying to diet. Because then you'll learn exactly what food is doing to you, how it can fuel you and how it can even help you lose weight naturally because your metabolism will work better! Good luck =)

    unpretty - First of all, hate your username, so negative! I hope you know you are pretty no matter what! Anywho, I can't actually see your stats in this advanced posting view, but 1200 is very LOW! Did you know if you're exercising you need to bump up your calories to compensate for the workouts your doing? It's just about eating the RIGHT food within the calorie limits. But I would recalculate how much you need a day NORMALLY and then subtract 100-200 calories. I used the about.com calorie counter and when you sign up it works it all out for you. 1500 is fine! I eat around 1700 calories a day and I've lost 37 lbs! Find an exercise that you love, and you'll be dedicated to working out.

    HH4L - Don't worry about ONE slip up day! You were good for 9, your entire work hasn't been erased by a measly 600 calories! So take a deep breath and focus on the positives. Secondly, I always tell people to NOT have "timed" goals. You want to reach a certain point by the end of the year? Super! But if you put too much emotion into it you'll stress yourself out and it will make you GAIN! So be careful. Have an idea of where you want to be but don't set your goal to it. For example I want to be 150 lbs by February for when I see my BF, I probably won't get there, but I'll try my hardest! But progress is progress, no matter how long it takes, and we should all be happy with that.

    Jamie - Congrats on being good! I know what it's like to stall, feels like the latter part of the year has been filled with them for me! Even though it's only 2 stalls haha. But you can do it! Push it to the limit! Good luck on all your school stuff, don't envy you! Just a little side note, puppy is a female =p. But yes, it'll be awesome if she can come running with me, I'm sure she'd be a great running companion! And hopefully not try and get the swans...

    imperfect - See what I did there? ;p Anyway, welcome! Step 1 is admitting you have a problem and saying out loud what your weight is and what that means. But you've passed step 1 so congratulations and welcome to the weight loss journey! I know how food can be a comfort during stressful school times, I reached 200 lbs in my final year of Uni. But the thing is - YOU DON'T NEED IT! I used to convince myself I NEEDED the junk to concentrate but I didn't. If you exercise for even 20 minutes (Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred is a great place to start as a beginner) and get a sweat on your head will feel so much clearer. And guess what? That will help with your studies! Just make a little plan for yourself, your goals, targets and then just GO! We're all doing it, so you can too.
  • Good morning guys!

    I weighed myself this morning and the scale said 209.2(!!!) so I have lost 10 lbs! So I am very excited about that. Next week will be hectic though because its finals week, my boyfriend's birthday, and later in the week we are seeing Trans-Siberian Orchestra and going to another NFL game. And we have our immediate family's Christmas, which is always the Sunday after finals week. So it will be a packed week. I did have the Christmas party at the newspaper where I worked, but I managed to have only one small plate and one cookie for dessert. And I fulfilled my desire not to be the one who is pigging out long after everyone else is done.

    Rie- My dad and my uncle are from Harlow, Essex. My dad decided to immigrate to the States and my uncle decided to stay. He and I get along fabulously though, he is one of the few people on my dad's side of the family I know and he is seriously awesome. Good luck breaking the plateau! I know mine lasted for quite some time as well.

    Jamie- Thanks! I am really looking forward to it and so is my boyfriend. Lol yeah I thought that Zumba would be populated with tone folks in the neon clothes like in the infomercials (yes, very silly I know) but its mostly folks ranging in age from very young to much older than me wearing sweatpants and about as coordinated and toned as I am.

    HotHealthy- Welcome back! Don't worry about one day off program, just try to reign it in in the next few days.

    Pretty- You might want to reconsider your calorie limit, it may be a bit low. I know MyPlate and websites like that will put into consideration your activity level and your height and weight and things like that.

    Perfect- Welcome! Admitting your problem is the first step. We're here for you and be sure to check out the rest of the board, there are things that will help motivate you and make your commitment easier.
  • Yeah I'm gonna eat around 1400-1500 a day, hopefully this works!
  • Jamie- Thanks so much for suggesting myfitnesspal! I started it up last night and I'm loving it. Turns out, I'd been waaaaaay over-estimating the calories in homemade dishes (I love the recipe analyzer), so for one dish I was estimating about 400 calories when in actuality it was more like 287 calories.... no wonder I was hungry all the time!! I thought i was getting 1200 or more calories when i was actually way under.

    Planning my meals ahead of time and entering them in is going to help keep me on better track.... I can tell!

    Rie- I have yet to find an exercise that I enjoy...ha. I was pushing myself to do that 30 day shred, but I HATE HATE HATE HATE it. I don't despise walking outside and doing strength trainging with 5lb weights... I have the hardest time when it's super cold out and/or raining. I've heard about Walk away the Pounds videos...maybe I should try that.
  • Good evening, ladies! It's so good to see some new faces and some chatty posts!

    Emerald - I think 9lbs is an awesome number when all you need to lose is 20 or 22 lbs!! That's already 41% of your goal! It is so very hard being a mom and wife and trying to lose weight along with juggling work too. Maybe you can exercise with your little one? Like doing squats while holding your baby. But at 20 months, not sure if she will want to be held for that long. Haha! I have an 8 month old and 7 year old, and I'm going to school full-time to be an elementary teacher so I know what you are going through. Used to have a job to juggle too, but was lucky enough to be able to quit that to focus on school and the baby. Anyway, you definitely have my support.

    pretty - I'm gonna call you pretty because I don't like "unpretty." lol...too negative and you should definitely not call yourself that. I have a friend in Tasmania and she has been talking about the weird temps too. About your eating, well, just get back on track...it's that simple! Are you using a tracking system to track your calories? I think that really helps because it gives you a goal to meet.

    HH4L
    - I am the exact same way. I can do good for a while and then dreaded AF decides she wants to throw my appetite all out of wack! Hang in there, girl! You can get over it!

    Jamie - good luck on your finals! I had my last one today and it's a relief to finally have it done. As for the DVDs, I have that 30Day Shred that's supposedly pretty good, but its so hard for me that I usually just give up right in the middle. I have no motivation when it comes to those things. I have a pilates one that has some good workouts on it too, but the floor hurts my butt and back. I wish I had a commercial-grade treadmill at home...then I could do my c25k and be happy. Lol! How do you cook your brussel sprouts? I've heard roasting them is good, but I've never tried it.

    notperfect
    - I don't remember where I saw that quote. I thought it was really great too and decided that my signature would be an awesome place for it. How far along are you in school? I'm a senior with one more semester to go!!!!!!!!! Majoring in Elem. Ed. Are you doing anything right now to lose weight? Seeing a physician? Exercising? Just curious. This is a great forum for support. Glad you decided to join us!

    And as for me...
    Took my last final exam today! Woohoo! Glad to get that out of the way finally. So, I've been doing some thinking. It's really time to get another move on. I have lost 20lbs since August. Been at a standstill since October mainly because of school. I was doing my C25K until last month. I'm not going to be able to go to the gym until my babysitter starts feeling better (she had a partial hysterectomy). So, I guess I'm going to attempt 30DS in the morning. It's either that or pilates and that pilates really hurts my back and butt when I have to do the floor exercises. My floor is carpet but there is concrete underneath and the carpet has no padding at all....yes, it sucks. Doesn't even help with a blanket put down. I could just suffer through it.

    I've also realized that I have a weird relationship with food. I hate it. Haha!!! I'm so tired of figuring out what to eat. And it seems everything I eat is just so bland. So, tonight, for dinner we are having cereal. I asked DH if he was fine with that he said sure, so that's what I'm eating. Lol.
  • Rie - I don't know how I missed your post. Duh! What's a curry?

    Namaste - missed your post too when I was writing my replies! Dang! I'm slacking! Haha! Congrats on reaching 10lbs!!
  • Food wise I’ve done wonderful today. I’ve only eaten 1000 calories today (full class days are usually lower than normal). I haven’t done my work out yet. I do that later, We just got a Xbox so I use that to dance my heart out.. I’m getting better.. I can soon change the setting to medium and dance even more. The work out is great.. I sweat and it gets my heart going. Our scale is broken so I haven’t had the chance to weight myself in a while. Last check in was 315. I hope it’s gone down.

    Riestrella: I work out between 25-30 mins every night on the Xbox dance game thing.. Its great fun and I enjoy it a lot. Thank you for the welcome!

    Namaste984: Thanks for the welcome! I’ve been lurking for a couple days.. I’m more of a lurker then poster most times. I’m going to try and post more.. Maybe that will help me with my issues.. lol

    Sgregg: It is a great quote. I’m just starting out.. I took a year or so off after High school then took a couple years at Community college.. So at 24 I’m just starting at university. I have another semester or so before I get into the Social Work program then another 2 years before I graduate with my BSW. I’m excited to actually start working on my degree soon. It’s been a long time coming! I’m trying to eat healthy but it’s harder because I still live with my parents. (Save me TONS of money lol) I’m exercising to the Xbox dance.. Its’ fun and helps me lose weight!
  • Hi guys, just gonna jump in here and say hello, also for

    Rie not weight related but...feed your dog pineapple, it keeps them from eating their poop. Or there are pills at most pet stores called potty mouth. they really help. My dog had the same issue when she was little. She also thought the cats litter box was her personal all you can eat buffet *yuck*
