This is also part of my reason/inspiration for losing weight. I also have PCOS in addition to being very overweight...My Dr. told me that for now the best thing that I can do to make it easier to get pregnant (and have a healthy pregnancy) is to lose the weight before I start trying. My husband and I have been married for 6 months this coming Sunday and I wanted to start trying around a year. I know I won't have lost near what I need to by then, but I'll be better off than I am now....And I think it'll take us a while anyway.

thank you guys so much for your responses...i dont know why i felt like i was wierd for feeling this way? like it didnt make sense to lose weight to gain it all back during pregnancy lol. But I'm going to start ttc soon so i won't really have a lot of time to lose weight unless it takes me a while to get pregnant. :-/

I think it's a great idea to start losing weight before you get pregnant because you start eating more healthy before getting preggo and have a greater chance of keeping that habit up when you are actually preggo. Benefits both you and the baby.

Both times I got pregnant it was after losing about 15 pounds. Not intentional, but I think with my PCOS it was a hormonal thing.

Anyway, first time around I went from 170 to 240. Stressed out so badly 3rd trimester that all I did was eat. It was horrible and miserable. (divorce from baby #1's daddy was the best investment ever) Second time around, was at about 230 ish, maybe a little less and went to around 215 or so. Ended up having some blood pressure issues and by the time I delivered I had been in the hospital for a week and only gained 13 pounds or so. By the time I came home (3 weeks later, had to stay out of state with baby in NICU, another story completely) I was at about 211, which I use as a starting weight.

So, it is possible to not gain tons, just don't use it as an excuse to eat the fridge every day.
